so i'm currently on napster... which is a great value at 5 bucks a month, but no mobile app so looking to switch.
rhapsody works great on my phone but they don't have (yet) a bb application so my wife and i can both utilize the subscription, so i'm thinking i need to look elsewhere.
the only one i can find now that works for both bb and dinc would be thumbplay. anyone have experience with this service? is it at least as good as rhapsody?
anyone have other suggestions of services and apps that would work on both the dinc and my wifes storm?
the primary need/want is on-demand streaming (i.e. not just radio... but specific albums, artists, etc.).
thanks!
Try grooveshark, it's only $3 a month or $30 a year.Looks like it works for bb except bb storm.

I use Grooveshark and love it. Their free trial is as easy as it gets. I am, however, curious about Thumbplay Music. After the free trial, what are their monthly rates?
pandora is free
works awsome and is free the more you listen the more you refine the better the station

what's the difference between thumbplay and pandora or slacker?
Last.fm all the way. Has the best music selection by far if your taste is a little off the beaten path. It's also built into the XBox 360 dashboard, which is nice if you have one.

this is $10 a month? That's crazy!
You might want to check out RDIO. They're newer than the other services, but it looks like the breadth of their library is pretty decent.

Rdio IS very nice, but the price tag of $10/mo is too much unless you listen to it all day every day
i used rhapsody, great service, but very sucky Android app.
i used MOG, also a good service, but the app didn't wanna cooperate with 2.2. it would play 2 minutes or so of a song and then skip to the next.
right now i am using Rdio and it's working flawlessly. they are updating the app very frequently which is nice to see.
OP, Why not use Pandora or slacker?

I gladly paid Pandora's 36 bucks a YEAR but no internet radio is worth a monthly fee. Christ.
It's not internet radio. You can also download tracks to any mp3 player aside from an ipod pretty much, as well as a PC (no Mac, unless you VM). You're basically renting out music, but it's a much better deal than Lala, etc which don't let you download. Granted, it's in a protected format of course, but you can find ways around that
I'm trying this out for the time being but I'm really excited for Spotify to come out. Sounds like Google wanted the N1 to ship with Spotify built in would have given iTunes a run for it's money. Spotify is supposed to come out in Q3.
Just my opinion no one needs to freak out over it. Although this seems like a great app, I would not pay 10 bucks a month to listen to music....I'd rather donate that 10 bucks to Cyanogen or another dev....Sorry, way to many "free" options out there to pay ten bucks a month, thanks tho!! Again IMO
Why are you waiting for Spotify? I used the service, but maybe I missed something.
Never used Rhapsody but surely it's very similar to Spotify.
I use Spotify for the record, the premium one at £10 a month.
I've never had any issue with software. Very good for syncing across several PCs, my N1 and my iPod Touch. I've got music all over the place and only for £10 a month.
Bargain!
I did ask a question about whether there is an app that can do the same as the PC apps so as to record the streams or normal offline audio to mp3s on Android?
Any suggestions or knowledge on this?
I got this in college when they had a $26 / year deal. Just about $2 / month. Then they stopped contracting with our school but our accounts have been active since. It's been 6 years. Too bad my account is some special crap or wahtever and doesnt work with Rhapsody on the go for mobile devices. =[
But this is nice. This is no Pandora. Want song A? You get Song A. Want another song? Search it. Imagine it's getting the iTunes library at your fingertips, except its all streaming.... very useful.
I've loaded up a whole playlist before and just played it at a couple of housewarming parties. Works well.
I've been using the app all day since it released... While it's a great app in general, the radio function appears broken.
I can't skip more than 2 songs per hour... where the hours are seemingly longer than 60 mins. Something is seriously wrong...

I am rooted and ROM's with the hack kit and inspired_dhd_vfr series, and all is well.
Except...
I installed WunderRadio in order to listen to my Sirius account, but when I tried to log in to Sirius within the Wunder app, it told me I need to get the Flash player. The message directed me to the market link for com.adobe.flashplayer, but said I do not have permission to go there. So, I went to the market on the Desire and installed Flash 10.1, but that did not change the result.
I do have WunderRadio happily playing my Sirius account on my rooted G-Tab, so this apparently has something to do with running Flash on the Desire within the inspired_dhd_vfr series ROM.
Adobe's web site says I am running Flash 10.1.106.16, so this is puzzling.
Any help would be much appreciated.
does flash work for you on other sites? I've had to tell other sites with flash to load the desktop version before it would work.

You are right there is a free sirius app. However it does not work with the people that have the original free online accounts that sirius use to give when you subscribed with a sat radio. About 2 years they had 2 internet accounts the free one and a premium (higher kb/s) for a few bucks more a month. A few months later they then said the free accounts were going to be terminated unless you locked in your subscription. I called and locked in for 5 years so I still have my free online account.
The premium account is the only one that will work with the free apps that Sirius is using now. It will not work with the free one. In windows mobile there was a few user made apps that worked with the free account now I believe SIRIUSWM6 is the only app that works now.
Wunderradio & Sirius used to work on my Androidphone but it does the same thing now with the flash. Last month Sirius changed there website around when you log into the online listing page. This change is what threw off wunderradio. I just hope they fix it. Im now booting into wm6 on my hd2 just to listen to Sirius.

Exactly right, the Sirius app does not work with my subscription. However, I have a lifetime subscription, so I should automatically have been "locked in", yes? Maybe I will give Sirius a call about this.
Funny thing is that WunderRadio does work on my Viewsonic G-Tab, running Vegan 5.1.1 ROM, but not on the Inspire.
Also, I can listen online on my PC, but when I try to do so on the Inspire in a browser, a flash login screen comes up, and it does not take input from the keyboard. Sometimes, it does not even bring up the keyboard. Very frustrating.

They will probably tell you the same thing as they did me. They said I could pay $2.99 more a month and upgrade the free account to the premium which will work with the Sirius phone apps. I've been hoping that since their is only a few of us left with the free account that they will just upgrade us all for free, doubt it though. I've been a member before Howard you think they would throw me a bone. For now I will just boot to WM6.5 on my HD2 to listen to Sirius.
Also I had Wunderradio working for awhile after the webpage switch on my HD2. I believe I cleared the cache from the browser and that is when it quit working correctly. I think it erased all the old information from the old site and now was trying to access the new site. So don't clear your cache on the G-Tab!!
OK, so I called Sirius. They want $3/month to "upgrade" me to "premium mobile service." Although, it seems to me that since I can listen on my PC, I would be able to listen on my phone if I had a Windows phone? So this is just an IPhone/Android restriction? Seems bogus to me.

Hey Smalis,
Jeez so the same for you even though your bought a lifetime subscription, what a bummer.
Also Sirius doesn't support Windows Mobile, so basically we Sirius listens have been relaying on some good programmers to make us up apps to make it work.
I've had windows mobile phones since 2001 and somebody started making their own Sirius app about 6-7 years ago. That went good for awhile then Sirius I think made him stop distributing the app or paid him some money to stop the software so that went down for awhile. Then somebody else made anther one, and anther and so on. I think I've went threw maybe 4 different programs or more. The best was app that somebody made was called Sxradio2 it would show cd covers for the songs playing and Howard's face on h100 and h101. However that went down after the website change and now they posted they wont fix the software because there doing some other work. Now I got anther program called SiriusWM6 that works pretty good for now.
I feel its just a matter of time though till this goes down too though. With windows mobile 6.5 dieing out due to the new WM7 and competition from the Iphone and Android, I think there will be little developers to fix or build the software for WM6.5.
Also I dont know if you know about the HD2 its a WM6.5 phone with basically the EVO hardware inside. They are now able to take Android and we can pretty much dual boot the phone to WM6.5 or Android. I also seen they have WM7 running on the HD2 as well but have not tried it out yet. Pretty neat device with 3 operating systems!
Want to upgrade one of these apps, but not sure which one. I like the idea that Pandora gives paid users better quality music, but that probably means more data usage. I listen mostly to alternative hits and I recognize more of the songs/artists when listening to Slacker. Fewer skips, too. Pandora is cheaper, but only offers 1 year memberships. Slacker offers monthly, but it gets even more expensive that way. Pandora almost never loses signal, Slacker sometimes does and the pause between songs on Slacker is often long. Just wondering what the XDA community prefers. Thanks.
I use slacker. I find it plays better. I do like it because i was able to bill it to my t-mobile account. I went into the settings and put it in high quality audio mode and i am more than happy with the audio quality. I like the interface better.
I don't use either one. Pandora is being investigated for selling personal phone IDs, among other information, so uninstalled.
Never used Slacker.
I just use TuneIn Radio for streaming actual stations.
Nothing for just random music selection.

Looks like Angry Birds and some other popular apps are involved. This kind of thing makes me consider using a prepaid, featureless phone. We may all be dummies for using smartphones. I hate to see government get involved, but it's obvious that companies will stoop to anything unless and until there are laws to stop them.

I just started using it (US). It seems pretty cool.
Android and iPhone apps are now up in the respective markets.
I used a proxy and signed up. But dont see the point, since the free account only lets you sync music from your PC. To listen to the streaming service, you need the 10 dollar per month package.

After all, $ 10 is too high a price. Available only 15 million songs. You can listen anywhere, anytime and can listen many different devices (mobile, pc etc.) I would rather buy the $ 10 album containing 12 tracks... No. no no .. I should have to think first what to say.
American network operators the pricing and quality is ****ed up. But many believe it is a lesser evil than $ 10 per month.
Spotify will not stay online

Known bug in Spotify on Honeycomb. Solution is easy but harsh: never make playlists offline available.
As long as you stream everything - you're okay. If you make a playlist offline available, it'll sync the first time and after that it'll keep saying it's disconnected.
And it's definitely worth the 10 bucks, I've been paying it for months and months (in Europe) and it saved me a ****load of money or time. If I had to buy all the music I've listened from Spotify, I'd had to sell my TF to pay the bills. Maybe even twice...
If your musictaste is pretty "conservative", not always looking for new stuff and getting addicted to it - it might indeed not be worth the money.
It's totaly worth it to have a paid subscription, i pay for premium
I use spotify all the time (at home, party's, cell phone etc)
The majority of the music i listen to is on spotify and i don't listen to comecial radio music

I still can't get it work. Every time I choose a song, I get an info bar with no info and an OK box to click. It reads my TF on my network, but it won't stream any music. I had no online playlists (I deleted everything just to make sure).
It works well on my PC--a lot of great music that seems to stream more quickly than Google Music.

I reinstalled it, but still no go. I'm running Prime 1.5 & Netformer. Alas.
Great on the PC. I just walked down Memory Lane with everything by Kraftwerk. Life went by too fast--I used to be cutting edge! LOL
Time for another meaningless question (from me)...
I'm looking for a good audio player. I've been using the stock player, since it's the only one I've been able to use where the EQ actually works (external EQ's haven't worked at all for me for some reason)
So, here are my desires:
Good working EQ
Widget with cover art would be nice
MP3/FLAC/ALAC (not a firm requirement on ALAC) support
I'd prefer cheap, or at least a fully functional trial so I can decide if it's right for me. Most that I've seen that have a "Pro" or paid version have crippled the free version so it's not what I want (Winamp, doubleTwist, Rocket Player come to mind).
Recommendations? I don't mind paying for it, but I want to know what I'm getting into first.
Not using my phone for music but I heard people talking about pandora or something.
Regardless Isn't there some play store thing that after you buy an app you can get refunded 24 or 48 hours after?
Not interested in Pandora. I don't use my phone for internet based music, just music off of my sd card when working out or working in the yard.
