[MORPH] Galaxy S Dialpad - Nexus One Themes and Apps

I noticed some interest for this so I put one together. Hope you guys enjoy it.
There are two morphs, one for ENOM's ROMs and one for all other ROMs. Please choose accordingly.
let me know if you have any issues.
As with everything here, try this totally at your own risk! Remember to Nandroid First.
cheers

I'm getting errors when trying to apply this theme.

yup......zipped it wrong. Redownload please as it should work now.

Still getting errors...

I got the error again but the files do extract. Very strange. You should see it there if you pick add existing theme and it should work
I will try and figure out why its happening though.

It try's a few spots so it will work with all ROMs and thats why it will skip some. It should still apply. You need to restart for the changes to take place.
cheers

i am able to choose from existing theme, but when i try to apply it i get an error that says target cannot be found.
Is this set up right?
SubTheme: Contacts.apk
located in /system/app/
SubTheme: Contacts.apk
located in /system/app_store/
SubTheme: Contracts.orig.apk
located in /system/app_store/
Is that where the .apk are located? in the app_store?
thats where the issue maybe coming from....

i think thats it... i ran it again, it looks like that the first one wants to apply but the 2nd two do not want to apply because of the location you set... thats what i think anyways.
I can't open my dialer anymore

In a bid to be inclusive of all ROMs I tried to apply to Contacts in the standard apps location as well as app_store which is the location of Contacts in ENOM's ROM.
I have now uploaded two versions, one for each location. Please try again with the new upload and it should work.
Sorry for the hassle!

that one worked. Thank you so much for the fix!!
Glad its fixed before anyone else got to it, enjoy your weekend!!

I've been waiting for this port so long. It's really great! Thanks a lot.

Any chance of making a flashable zip for this?

I cant seem to get this to work properly. I have now morphed it for the 5th or 6th time, not sure. I morphed 3 times before I rebooted, but after that I rebooted after each morph. I have debugging on.
The tabs (phone, call log, contacts and favorites) are blue. I cant remember if they were like this before, but no icons were changed at all.
Any tips?

What ROM are you using? I find metamorphs are always a little unstable. I am away for the next couple of days but will put together an update.zip when I get back.

great work huemedia! i didn't know about your Galaxy theme port.. using this along with hazxmatic's on CM6 RC3 and all is well.
for folks having problems with metamorph, don't worry if it gives you an error about the theme. just run metamorph again and you'll see that it has been extracted. choose the xml, and apply it.

thanks look great on my nexus
Great job guys.....

[MetaMorph] Clear Lockscreen (Sense 2.1)

Since a lot of people are flashing between several 2.1 ROMs and (as far as I know) none of them have, by default, a clear lockscreen.
I whipped up this MetaMorph theme to solve this issue. Now, you merely have to download this .zip, run it in MetaMorph and reboot, and voila! Clear lockscreen
THIS IS FOR 2.1 SENSE ROMS ONLY.
I have only tested this on Fresh 2.0c, however it should work on DC and DarchLegend as well. If anyone wants to confirm that'd be great.
How do you use this, you ask? Well, let me tell you!
Download the attached .zip
Download MetaMorph from the Market (donate version, preferably!)
Copy the .zip to a folder called AndroidThemes on your sdcard
Start MetaMorph (give it SU permissions and go through the checks), click Pick Theme and select Clear_Lockscreen
Click com.htc.resources.apk
Click 'Apply'
Give it a little bit of time to update. When it's done, reboot your phone, and your lockscreen will be nice and clear
Also, please feel free to use this as an example for future MetaMorph themes. Personally, I find that using MetaMorph is much, MUCH easier than creating all new update.zips, as this allows you to only change certain files within certain .apks which makes it very versatile and practical.
Enjoy

Yes, numerous times. Didnt work.
Works on DamageControl v2
What is metamorph? just flashing a zip isn't enough anymore? When did this metamorph show up?
Unless I'm missing something, this isn't a clear lockscreen. It's just the clear lockbar that we've had without issue. A clear lockscreen is what we are after.
The attached is nothing more than an update to com.htc.resources.apk to remove the lockbar. Don't need any sort of special application to do something that simple
Having said that, it is nice, especially with the merger of so many different graphics into fewer apks with 2.1, to be able to just flash a diff, for affecting only certain things, without changing / affecting other mods someone may have already done...

Exactly. This is the biggest advantage to using MetaMorph over update.zips and what I was trying to stress in my first post
And to the post 2 above this: MetaMorph has been around for a while, it just never gained much popularity in phones that used Sense.

[MODIFICATION] add to Blacklist from Call Log in CM-5.0.8/CM6.0.0RC1/RC2

I'm not an Android or Java guru, so I'm sure there's probably a better way to do this, but it works...
This is an update.zip which has a modified Phone.apk and Contacts.apk in order to allow the user to add an unknown number in the call log to the Blacklist.
As usual with this stuff make a backup first.
And of course I take no responsibility for anything.
For CM-5.0.8
BlacklistFromCallLog-eclair-signed.zip
For CM-6.0.0RC1
BlacklistFromCallLog-signed.zip
with working accept/decline sliders
BlacklistFromCallLog-slide-signed.zip
For CM-6.0.0RC2

You don't need the diff. It's just if you want to compile it yourself or see the source code.
Oh, ok, thanks for the MOD
Thanks for this, I've been wanting exactly this for a while now-it only makes sense. I hope cyan or other devs take note of this and incorporate it into their roms, to keep up with newer releases of the phone/contacts.apk's that they use.
Sorry if this is a little off topic but i figured you could take a look at it since you're already poking around... but does anybody notice that the blacklist clears itself after each reboot? its a little frustrating readding the numbers all the time

I don't have this problem on my g1 or slide.
I pulled the links. Apparently it breaks the ability to answer the phone
I'll look at at when I get home from work.
cant wait for update :fingers crossed:
File has been removed from the server....
Can you please re-upload this file or attach it to the OP?
Thanks
Bert
I finally got around to looking at it. Apparently the problem was not with my changes, but somewhere in my build environment.
Essentially whether I build the phone app with or without the changes, I am losing the onscreen answer/decline sliders. Gonna have to look into that because I am using a slide which lacks the hardware answer button rendering my phone app unusable to me.
So since it does actually work, Here is the new diff. It is essentially the same but with a few code cleanups. I am going to hold off on posting the apk's however until i figure out why i'm losing the onscreen sliders. If anyone knows, please let me know.

[MORPH] HDPI Battery Morph: Dots and Arrows & Arrows Only [updated 8-26-10]

Here's another battery morph, because I know you guys like your custom batteries. Plus being one of the only animated icons, they are fairly fun to work on.
This Morph converts your current battery icon to a series of six dots. As the dots drain, empty dots replace them. When you plug in to charge up, behold–it turns into a series of arrows! wow, hahaha. (idk, i like it...)
This probably wont work with the percentage overlays, as the icons are pretty complex, and dont really facilitate great legibility of the percentages. But one can only do so many circle and square batteries, so I'm branching out to do other ideas and shapes.
Standard disclaimer: Do a nandroid BU before you flash this. I have no idea whats on your system, or what may cause it to break, therefore you flash this at your own risk, as with pretty much every morph.
If you are experiencing issues with metamorph hanging while trying to install, make sure you have usb debugging turned on in your system settings. yes, you really need to do this. go to settings-->applications-->development-->make sure usb debugging is checked!
If that doesnt work check this list made by morpher Formel-LMS. Must be that German efficiency...
1. Have you downloaded the correct files for your ROM?
2. Have you debugging enabled in the Android Menu?
3. Install "Titanium Backup" start it and hit the "Problems?" Button, then it installs a correct busybox version. This is required!!!
4. In Metamorph, press Menu, play with the applying speed. Choose a speed above 4200!
5. Never check the "Disable startup checks" in Metamorphs settings
6. Never, never, never rename the zipfile. If you do this, you'll get error messages like "Theme Control File Missing"

Do you have usb debugging enabled? Its been in the op in red since I posted, but I cranked the text size up so no one will miss it again. If that isn't it, you prob need to do a full data/cache wipe, including dalvik cache and reinstall your rom. If you are running a rare/uncommon rom, i suppose the pathways could be incorrect, but I have yet to encounter that issue. If so let me know what rom it is, and ill take a look at the pathway and repackage it for that particular rom if thats the issue. But try the other stuff first.

Sorry, but there isnt really anything else I can do to make it compatible for you. There is nothing in the zip that could cause any of that stuff to happen honestly. Its just a zipped folder with some images and xml telling the images where to go in your system.
I would think that if it worked before you themed, but then your phone went crazy after you themed, that there may be an issue with the theme or the way you applied the theme or something else.
That's why I dont create themes though, too much room for something to go wrong. Morphs are much lighter, more stable in my experiences, and easier to apply. But that's just my two cents.

let me start of by saying I TAKE NO CREDIT for any of this... only think i did was discover this amazing thread.. (i've know about it for a quite a while now, but don't know why i hadn't decided on posting this here)

are u installing this over a current theme?? are u adding any transparencies in the notification bar? what rom are u using? i've had the gapps FC before with this, but got everything worked out to where everything works perfect now..
I'm guessing CM 6 comes with a theme.. so I'm gonna say yes. I didn't make anything transparent, but I only did settings for part of the notification window.
What sucks now is that I nandroided back to a backup I made earlier today and it made everything like I just flashed CM 6 but LauncherPro kept FCing.. trying to nandroid again. :\
Edit: Can I choose sense icons without having a sense rom? If not, that's probably my problem.

Confirmed working on CM6RC1... Although not much in the way of theaming very limited but cool non the same. Very easy to use even for the beginner. What it changes should be pretty universal as long as you pay attention and choose the correct android version.

Used this to get the circle battery with CM 6.1 RC1, my only issue is that now it displays a big "Roaming Indicator On" on my lockscreen (where the "Sprint" would usually be), and the roaming triangle is showing up in the taskbar (even though I'm like 98% sure I'm NOT roaming). Anyone have a suggestion of how to get rid of this? Maybe something I did in the process of cooking up the zip? All I want is the stock CM6 pulldown/notification bar with the circle battery, and also have the option to turn off the power control widget in the pulldown.

I did it again and this time I checked the "include icons" and chose G4 blue sense 3D. Again they didnt show up This time what happened was my icons that were blue tinted (running Extremely Blue) turned white. Same stock icons, just white instead of the blue tinted ones. Can I use the sense icons?
Thanks
If it makes a difference I also selected the white notification bar icons as well, H1 DeFrost.
That was it, only chose the G4 blue sense 3D this time and it worked perfect! Now I need to do it again as there are a few I dont care for and would rather have my blue tinted ones, like signal bars
Now I got it looking BAD-A$$!!
Question,
When attempting to modify the Status bar notification I dont get to see the progress I am making. It looks like the Kitchen is supposed to let me see what each mod will look like as I change things, shouldnt that checkered area to the right of status bar mod settings show a preview of what I a doing, while I do it?
EDIT>>>>> Nevermind, I found to click generate at the bottom of page
Thanks
Alright so I redid my phone last night (starting from scratch when I know a little more about this stuff is good ) and tried this again, got the circle battery mod and the status bar icons and it works great!
If it helps anyone, I uploaded my framework this time instead of choosing from the list.

Read my guide, pay attention to the "creating a flashable package" part, basically to alter any file/folder on your phone you would simply need to place the file/folder in the appropriate folder structure within that zip, then flash. (This is all done while the package is still in the .apk format, you would need 7zip to open it and do the editing while it's still packaged, you never extract)
It'd be easiest for you to just go back to pick and pack, then flash the puzzle lock - that would get everything else back to stock that isn't themed.
I figured that would be the easiest route but Im feeling froggy and want to do it the hard way.i'm about to start digging into your guide now.

If you can find a swype that has been themed for another phone, you should be able to easily port it to the pnp version with theme porter, then add that APP to my puzzle lock theme and flash. Let me know and I'll include it in the theme.

Yea, I tried pulling the widgetlocker .apk from my phone, editing it and pushing it back and it dissappeared from my app drawer, so I'm still learning about those issues.
You guys could port that swype keyboard to pnp (using my guide) and create a package that only flashes that app to your phone... once i'ts ported it could be added to any existing theme's too.

As you know, I know nothing about themeing but when I tried to just overwrite the .apk file it gave me an error saying that the app wasn't designed for my phone (or something like that) and would have limited usability. And then came the onslaught of the FC loop. Would making this a flashable install fix that or is it because the app itself just doesn't work with our phones?

that's why we have to port them to the pnp version first, it just copies all of the .png files to our version (that already works on our phone) then you would be able to replace it through root explorer (or make a flash package) sounds like you were trying to use the .apk from the other phone? Never do that btw

LOL Yeah I learned that lesson. Thank God for nandroid backups. It actually wasn't that bad just couldn't use the Swype keyboard anymore (even after putting our .apk back on). Maybe I'll give your guide a try. It kind of intimidated me the first time I read through it but maybe just pulling a single app will be a good way to start.

Skip reading the part about framework and decompiling. App's are wayyy easier, you should be able to just use theme porter (as long as the folder names within the theme'd version matches what's in pnp's version, should have -v4 i believe so you may have to rename those in the theme version.) Or you could manually move the .png's by opening each one in 7zip side by side.
