all im seeing on here is "no that doesnt work with 2.2" so im wondering what the point of 2.2 is if theres nothing good you can install on it.
...anyways, list your best hero 2.2 apps here please!!!
what apps don't work with 2.2?? whenever i flashed a 2.2 rom coming from a 2.1 rom, i backed up all my apps, and then restored them without any problems.. (and i have over 85 apps) i admit i had to do a few updates to some of them, but thats about it...
I've had a couple not work on 2.2. One of them was friend stream which I miss.

What apps are you having problems with. I haven't had any problems with apps not working on 2.2. If anything it would probably be the other way around with people on 2.1 asking why 2.2 apps don't work on their phone.

Friendstream us based on htc framework, and the 2.2 cm6 build is aosp, that's why it doesn't work. Maybe one day we'll have a sense-based 2.2, but not yet.

Oh ok, I knew HTC framework wouldn't work on 2.2 but I didn't realize FriendStream was HTC based. Good to know, thanks for the info!

I recently rooted my inspire, first android device, and installed CM7 because it seemed amazing, not saying it isn't. I like CM7, but i like pure Gingerbreads gingerygoodness even better. I am currently running CM7-Phunky Cow "flavored"
and i like it because of the actual launcher and runs higher quadrant scores.
I like pure gingerbread, but i think i may miss the cm7 settings, some i use, also i miss HTC widgets and camera, etc, but i cant stand sense anymore.
Anyone have recomendations on ROMS, or CM7 Flavours/Mods?
Use Ultimate Droid

I have tried that and it seems alot heavier then CM7, and that's not really what im aiming for, plus the theme is wierd on it, im not sure how i'd go with changing that.
What's the reason you use it?
Its very smooth and fast and my speed increased and its just perfect for me

Right now Cm7 is starting to make me not like my phone for some reason so let's put it this way, is there a Stable, User-Friendly, non sense rom out there thats gingerbread?
The nature of all custom roms are beta's nothing more, every rom including the stock non rooted rom is subject to hiccups.

+1. Gingerbread, works great, smooth, slick, and not an lick of Sense. If you are looking to try something different, you owe it to yourself to give it a go. C'mon over to the Dark Side, the water is great!

Pure GB. Fully customizable. Great Quadrant scores (for what they're worth). No problems whatsoever...
And I jumped to the "Dark Side" straight from the latest CM7 build...and haven't looked back....

Well i guess im going to try miui, but how do i get it looking more like gingerbread, that seems heavily modded visualy... And is it using gingerbread launcher or an app launcher
If you're looking for a Gingerbread build with Sense, try RCMix 5.9.x, available for download directly via CWM.
He said he "can't stand Sense anymore".

It's using a home launcher.
If you want a pure GB home launcher, or have it look like CM7, just download ADW Launcher or Launcher Pro.
I'm currenrly running ADWEx on mine...
MIUI is fully customizable, and even has its own dedicated dev forum...

Has anyone successfully gotten any of the Wiimote controller apps to work on their Thunderbolt? Supposedly all of these apps are not compatible with HTC Sense, but I wonder if it would work with a non-Sense ROM (or deSensed version) out there. I'm running BAMF 1.6.2 and loving it, but would like to try playing some emulators with a wiimote.
Thanks.
I'm running CM7 and it works great! Caution, though, CM can be a bit quirky at times. May not be for daily use.

It will work with aosp roms like cyanogen. Non-sense roms are still sense based but with rosie and HTC apps removed. It won't work on any of those

Has anyone had success using the Netflix app to stream video on a Froyo based Rom? I'm using BAMF 1.6.3, and when i attempt to stream it stops and says failure to acquire license. The patch listed in the development section is only for GB roms.

I tried every rom/kernal trick I could think of. I searched far and wide and the only thing that did the trick was upgrading to GB. I am missing the battery life from froyo so if you find a solution I would love to hear it.
I believe its only for gb roms for now
I also tried to install Netflixs + patch on bamf 1.6.3 but I got no video....now I'm on bamf 2.0 and Netflixs works great...
Netflix doesn't work on Froyo . <--------PERIOD
GB roms only for now.... but u might wanna hold off on that cause of the bricked TBs' linked to the alpha GB radio at the moment.
Works on dinc with inc Rom...which is froyo. Available in market

Exactly, only 2 of the 5 officially supported phones have official 2.3 roms and it still runs on 2.2 on the N1 as well. 2.3 does seem to be required on unofficial phones though. Hopefully the devs can figure it out or we get updated to Gingerbread soon. Netflix through PlayOn is pretty good, but I would love to have the app instead.

If you run the CM7 GB ROM, you can do this.
Well now that the LG Revolution is out and it has the same processor as the bolt and Froyo we should be able to get it. I hope lol
Netflix works great on CM7!

None at the moment. Netflix disabled it on the evo until they fix it to work with the new updates. If you search the market you wont even find it. Its been pulled about 4 days now so I don't know how long it will take them.
Works fine for me here..I'm watching Rampage right now at work actually..I just restore my version from titanium backup and it always works fine.
Wow,they did pull it off the market.
I have had this app for about a month now, works on my girls stock rom, as well as mikfroyo 4.6.1
I will say the apk gets bigger and bigger, I think its been through a few reincarnations. 2mb, 5mb, 18mb.
If you search around you should find the apk to install netflix.

You must be using the first version that wasn't updated. The updated version won't work on sense or aosp for me I just keep getting errors and it all started the day they pulled it.
Working on miui, ive got the last version before it got pulled

Yeah I figured out why mine wasn't working lol; cm7 working also!
So does anyone have a working apk
so if your joint works from titanium back up is there a way to get a working apk? my backup i guess was corrupted cause it wont let me restore it shows it being there but when i click on it there is no restore button
It seems like Cyanogenmod and MUIU are your best bet and some froyo based roms are still working. I can confirm that it is working on the latest MIUI rom but it is not working on Synergy or any other Gingerbread roms with Sense 2.1 on it (this includes the latest sprint update). Also because people have made a big deal out of netflix not working with the update it seems that netflix is now having trouble with some of the old froyo based roms.
It sucks because I love Sense and so now I have to choose between Sense and Netflix. Hopefully they fix the issue soon, but I'm guessing that it will be a couple of weeks before they do
Heres a version a friend sent me that updates and streams on every rom Ive tried so far.

yup... jamsterzaks version is working for me as well on cm 7 stable...
evo deck for me
I am using the latest evo deck rom GB 2.3.4. I got the apk in the themes and apps forum that supports landscape. Works great for me
Netflix is working on cm7. I downloaded it the day it came out and keep it on a nandroid backup. If you have a version that works I would nandroid before you do anything just to keep it simple. I made that mistake on my nook color...... now I have chipmunks on my NC and to lazy to find another work around.

no, i don't think there are any honeycomb roms for the desire S
if i am correct the honeycomb source code is not out yet (not sure about it though)
I don't think honeycomb will look good on a phone. Just because it's 3.1, doesn't mean it's better than 2.3. It's optimized for tablets. There isn't one phone that has official honeycomb running.

At least there's a Honeycomb theme for ADW.
I've tried Honeycomb on my original Desire, it was a very early port though so they may have gotten further in development now. As for my experience it looked nice and a lot of it worked but our screens are way too small to use it on a regular basis.
i don't know why u want a honeycomb based rom, maybe google just release it for pad, and android 2.4 will be for both phone and pad (i forget where i read it). and now, the roms for desire s i know are all based on 2.3.3, even not 2.3.4. so i think a honeycomb based rom just can be build from the source code, and waiting for 2.4. [i hope u can understand these words, i'm not good at english.]
the china android forum has the "no sense" +"android 3.0 theme"
is this u want?
