Reset to stock with JF6?? - Captivate General

What is the process I need to follow? Is there a 1 click tool that I can use? Wasn't sure if Odin3 would work because I only saw JH2 and JH3 mentioned. I just don't like the way the phone is right now and I'd like to go back to stock and start over.

you have to go into download mode first, try key combo ...
if you have a jig, it will take you to the download mode, or you can buy one.

To answer your question no there is no zip to get back to jh6 you are going to have to use odin

Its the easiest way Ive seen to get back to stock.

Yes, the odin one click works great. I have averaged one use of that every weekend for the last 4 weeks, trying out different roms, currently on Perception 10.4.

ODIN 1-Click for sure!

Hey guys, I'm currently running the leaked froyo JI6, and I want to get back to JF6 so that I can get the official 2.2.
I've downloaded the JF6 Odin, but every time I try to use it, I end up with a at&t logo boot loop w/o functioning key combos. Thank god I made a jig (actually cried last week trying to figure this out)
Anyways, can anyone offer any help? I don't know why I can't get it to flash correctly back to JI6.
If all else fails, is there at least a Odin for Cognition v4.x?
Honestly, I was just doing this all for the Google weather "Genie" Widget. I'm a themer, and this apk will not work on what I have now and it happens to come with the official 2.2 (idk about cog4).

[Q] Flashing Back To Stock With JVB *BUILD 1010*

Hey guys I am currently running Hamsterbread with X'Cals latest kernel.
And I have been reading everywhere that for flashing back to stock YOU MUST use Odin One CLick and if you use the 3-Button Fixed Odin you will brick you phone for good.
If I am a build 1010 and cannot use Odin One Click do y'all think this method would work:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=10056254&postcount=36
Any Help will be GREATLY appreciated.
The only thing that could possibly happen to a later build phone using that odin one click is you will lose the 3 button combo (MAYBE) I flash and mod 3 captivates, 1 is a 1010 the other 2 are 1012 I have never used anything other than the one click to flash to stock, never even lost the button combo on ANY of those. But if you do lose the combo just use the odin with the button fix after you use the normal one.
The one with the button combo doesn't contain the second bootloader, so if you use that to go back to eclair from gb, you will have 2 incompatible bootloaders resulting in an unfixable BRICK. The normal one click contains BOTH bootloaders that is why you need to use it. But like I said once you are back on eclair and IF you have lost the button combo then you can use the other odin to get the combo back but only AFTER using the normal one click.
I don't know if that version of odin you posted contains both bootloaders so I personally wouldnt try it because of the reason I stated earlier.

I just hear stories about Build 1010's and up who flash back to stock using Odin One Click and then they get a soft brick where the device flashes the AT&T screen then turns off.
Luckily i have a jig but I still dont really know what to do.

First: no such thing as a "soft brick" that's a stupid name and it confuses people ... There is one kind of brick. When the phone does exactly the same as a brick. Nothing.
If you get a bootloop after using the one click I'm pretty sure the boot loaders have been flashed successfully (not 100% sure about that so wait for someone else to confirm/deny) in which case you could use another odin to recover from that.
If you weren't sure about how to return you really shouldn't have upgraded. As the deving for gingerbread is still in it's infancy. And might not be suited for daily use yet.
If you're still worried about all of it then just stay on gb and the devs will catch up and you will have more of options for roms/kernels, and maybe another way for later build phones to flash to stock with out the one click...

I flashed GB when X'Cal released his beta and I was testing for him it is recently though that people are saying that you cannot use anything but Odin One Click. And I know what I am doing in regards to flashing Gingerbread and the kernels and such so thats why I upgraded.
I will try Odin One-Click if I ever need too, but if someone can confirm or deny the fact that if you get in a bootloop after flashing Odin One-Click the Bootloaders successfuly flashed?
I would guess thats correct and then Id just use my normal method and Jig it into Download mode.
Thanks again though.
Try and go look around samfirmware.com
and see if you you can't find the .pit flies that contain both bootloaders they should have every odin file. and use the full version of odin with the other corresponding files needed.

Alright thanks so much.
And and we are looking for a pit file with both bootloaders?
And if we find one just use regular Odin and use the .pit file we find and like a JH6 or JH2.tar file for PDA.
One last thing although there is nothing wrong and I do have a jig, you think I should try flashing Odin One Click and see what happens? : D. I dont want too because my set up currently is un real haha.
I do not think odin one click is wise, it only flashes secondary boot loader not primary. If you use it worth out chanting the primary back you will have non matching primary and secondary boot loaders. Nothing good can come of that
Sent from my SGH-I897 using XDA Premium App
the pit file has nothing to do with the bootloaders. the bootloaders are in the .tar file which is inside the zip files on samfirmware.com
the pit file is for repartitioning, probably not needed, but probably worth doing just in case

As above I said I have always flashed back to stock using the Build 1010+ method with the JH2.tar pda file. But I dont know if that will work.

How to safely downgrade from GB back to Eclair?

You need to use the Odin one click posted in the development section.
Also read the *definitive guide to bricking* sticky in general section.
I got it. Used Odin 1.3 and the "safest way to go back to stock" JF6 Secure file.
you may need a jig for either a newwer phone that will be soft bricked after using jf6, or to get download mode for a phone that loses 3-button combo with jf6. the later situation can also be resolved with adb comands.
these two situations need to be flashed twice to restore the bootloaders properly. there are some newer phones that flash fine and some older phones that dont have 3-button problems that are as simple as using odin one click.
1006 builds are the only ones that are garenteed to be safe and i dont know how many people have those. but there are many others that will be fine if the phone has been flashed with odin oneclick before without issues.
I get JIGgy with it I bricked it trying to use the 1 click Eclair restore so I had to manually use ODIN 1.3 and load a PDA file.

what we are saying is you need to do that intentionally. there are no roms out there for odin 1.3 that have both bootloaders. and if you flash one that only has sbl.bin you will not be able to fix it. you need to use oneclick for the bootloaders then 1.3 to fix it. just to be perfectly clear.
good that you are familiar with the process

[Q] Download mode but unable to unbrick

Just what everyone wants.... another thread about a bricked phone.
I have no idea what happened to my phone.... I have been running Valhalla Final for a week now with no issues to speak of and lost all my ringer tones after a failed attempt to put sound on a boot-loader using Absolute System. I rebooted into recovery and tried to restore my nandroid which failed when it said unable to unmount system. when I rebooted it had fc in android.core multiple times so I rebooted again and after it loaded had no control. did a battery pull and then would not go past the power up screen. downloaded heimdall one click file T959V-UVKJ6-One-Click.jar and put it into download mode. flashed and it went fine until factoryfs failed. now still in download but img is pic of phone to computer. last 2 attempt was
SMS-KJ6-beta2d_Stock-Rom_with_Bootloaders-One-Click.jar and it failed first at loading the modem and then at loading recovery.
I am lost. seems like everything I try makes it little worse. Have not tried ODIN yet.
Is there any hope or am I out a phone?
Give Odin a try. Last time I used Odin it froze so I pulled the plug, and when I put my phone back in download it showed that same screen, yet Odin still went through.
So no, that screen doesn't mean you're out a phone.

Grab chadster's KG4 here. I believe it has ODIN 1.85 included in the file. Don't mess with any of the check boxes in ODIN; let ODIN decide what to check.
After that, you should be able to get back to KJ6 via a one-click.
Shady grab Ravers stock GB and honks GB odin kernel. Flash Ravers, If you can, then honks. That will give you stock plus cwm. You know where to go from there. Funny thing is just yesterday FB had a post about leaving BOOTLOADERS alone w/o unbrickable mod. Good luck.

Are you going with the chadsters leak or ravers stock?
I don't know why you guys keep recommending old (leaked) ROMs to debrick with.
@Shady if you see anything posted by myself, dsexton, bhundven or raverx3x you can bet that we've tested it extensively and that it'll work on your phone.
On that note I recommend you read the whole page here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1358498
Download from the SMS KJ6 (beta2d) Kernel Stock Rom with Bootloaders link. This will get you a one click flash solution that you can go back to when you have problems. This, unlike the KG4 file others have been recommending, is the latest version of gingerbread (KJ6 is 2.3.6) and you'll have a custom kernel + root to boot so you can get flashing other gingerbread ROMs. I hope you don't have trouble flashing, and if you do, read the OP to what I linked you to. All the instructions are there.
I know this file has been failing for you but you can try restarting your computer and flashing it from safe mode. When your computer is booting up, keep pressing F8 until you get a menu. Pick "Safe mode with networking" from the menu using your arrow keys and press enter.

[Q] Infuse 4g - Broken CWM - ICS 4.0.4 Infinitum Rom

Hello, I am a long-time viewer of xda but a new member, this is my first post.
(and yes, i looked for a similar theard. i could not find one.)
So, onto the problem.
I flashed Infinitum 1.1.1 to my Infuse using cwm recovery. I noticed problems right off the bat when after i had installed the zip, i rebooted into recovery then it got stuck on the samsung logo and i had to pull the battery (a normal event when flashing this rom) So when i pulled the battery and booted into recovery to try again, the cwm recovery was terribly screwed up. The top half of the screen was pixelated, and the navigation menu was off center. I was still able to use cwm to flash the rom successfully, But cwm remains srewed up.
So i tried to reflash cwm recovery using rom manager. but when i rebooted i was stuck in a recovery boot-loop that i had to get out of using odin.
I then flashed the rom again using the same procedure suggested by its developer, and it worked, but cwm is still acting as it was before. (the pixelated top half of the screen and the off center navigation menu. )
So can i get some help? i thought about removing cwm the using some other recovery. I also heard that cwm wont work on ics, but im unsure what it is.
Thanks in advance.
You don't have Gingerbread bootloaders. That's why recovery looks the way it does.
You need to Odin or Heimdall back to Gingerbread stock (I find Heimdall much easier for this) and then flash Entropy's DD kernel to get back into red recovery to flash Infinitum.

Yeah...heimdal is the best way to get bootloaders...odin doesnt always do it and no custom rom includes them that i am aware of...
I had written detailed instructions for another person...ill try and find them and paste it here...
Also-dont use rom manager, that thing is known to cause bricks/bootloops so using it is asking for bad ju-ju lol

Here is how to do it...
1) Download uclb3 heimdal by qckster
2) open the program
3) put phone in download mode
4) click flash (leave program open when finished DO NOT CLOSE)
5) after it finishes and your phone reboots, put the phone back in download mode and reconnect to PC
6) click flash bootloader on the heimdal program you left running
7) flash, let reboot and your problems should be gone
Download mode instructions
1) pull battery
2) put battery back in
3) hold volume up + down
4) connect phone to PC with USB cable *don't let go of volume*
Just because you were on gingerbread previously does nit mean you have ginger bread boot loaders...I had ginger bread since the first leaks and did not have boot loaders until a month or two ago when I flashed them using those steps above...

Thank you for posting the guide. I literally just got done flashing GB bootloaders to my Infuse because of the rainbow Recovery when I'm on ICS. I used Odin though and used GB loader that a member posted in the AOKP Uniporn thread. I was scared but there really isn't anything to be afraid of. I tried using Heimdall but dang that was nerve racking because I was trying to use it on Mac and it wouldn't let me do the flash.

Good deal, glad you got it sorted out. And to clear up some confusion that is in this thread: you don't have to flash an entire Gingerbread rom to get the bootloaders. We all have our preferred ways of doing it, but you CAN flash just the bootloaders.
Here is both a Heimdall and an Odin way to get JUST the bootloaders. That's all that is necessary for someone who has rainbow distortion issues on an ICS or Gingerbread rom.:
See the third post (HERE) in Entropy512's Unofficial CM9 thread for instructions on how to flash just the bootloaders using the Heimdall command line. Or, see the answer to question 1.) in the FAQ of the rooted UCLB3 Odin thread which is HERE.

Heimdall is one way to get the bootloaders, and here's how I did it.:
heimdall flash --primary-boot boot.bin --secondary-boot Sbl.bin
The second part of your statement isn't true. Odin doesn't do it only when the user can't figure out how to use Odin.
thank you everyone.
Being a creature of habit i ended up flashing to rom and bootloaders using odin. that did indeed fix CWM right up.

[Q] Downgrading gingerbread to froyo

I have a Samsung Galaxy S 4G (SGH-T959V), my phone came stock with Froyo 2.2.1 (T959VUVKD1). My phone is now running on Gingerbread 2.3.6 (T959VUVKJ6).
I want to go back to stock Froyo 2.2.1 because i like it better. Can I go back to Froyo 2.2.1? Can anyone please post what I need to put into odin and where i would put each file into odin to get my phone running back on Froyo 2.2.1 if i currently have Gingerbread 2.3.6. Thanks.

This link that you put, after i go to there what am i supposed to download? Also will this take me to stock froyo 2.2.1 (t959vuvkd1). I want go to froyo 2.2.1 because that what it was when i bought my phone. If there is a one-click to go to stock froyo 2.2.1. Or the files i need to get me to froyo 2.2.1 on odin.
In the sixth post is a one click kd1... download & run. Simple
What if my sgh-t959v, gingerbread 2.3.6 is rooted would the one click thing back to froyo 2.2.1 still work if my phone is rooted? So your saying i just have to download the froyo one-click and it will take my phone from gingerbread 2.3.6 to froyo 2.2.1 all by itself? Im really nooby at this please let me know.
Sent from my SGH-T959V using xda app-developers app
Yes, the one-click will basically install the other version on your phone. It will most likely remove root.
You will almost certainly have to backup all the data you wish to preserve with something like Titanium Backup and restore it to the phone as Android and apps don't "downgrade" very gracefully.
I think @FBis251 made a froyo oneclick.
Woops this one was on accident, look at post #9.
Hey can anyone tell me the process of using the kd1 one-click for my sgh-t959v. I heard that i have to go into dl mode and plug in my phone and open the sgh-t959v-kd1-one-click.jar and run it. And the second time i run it i should have flash bootloaders checked. And after that i should do factory reset, clear cache from the android recovery screen? After i run the jar for the first time what will my phone screen be on after the process is done? After ive ran the kd1.jar twice will it take me setting up phone phone steps. Please anyone tell me steps using the kd1-one-click.jar if i have to run it once or twice and have flash bootloaders checked. Thanks.
You should be following this guide when flashing one clicks:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=21953878&postcount=2
The one click @bhundven mentioned is this one:
http://sourceforge.net/projects/teamacid/files/fb/roms/one_clicks/kd1-stock-sgh-t959v-one-click.jar
To be specific, lumin's guide will tell you how to flash a one click. You should be flashing the one click I linked you to (kd1-stock-sgh-t959v-one-click.jar) while following the instructions in that guide.
Good luck!
Im just wondering, after if i am back on froyo 2.2.1, would i be able to use Superoneclick, (version 2.2) i think to root my phone on froyo 2.2.1?

Hey FB in lumin's post he posted is one that will take you to stock KJ6 Gingerbread 2.3.6. but what about this link that you gave to me www.sourceforge.net/projects/teamacid/files/fb/roms/one_clicks/kd1-stock-sgh-t959v-one-click.jar. Will this take me back to stock Froyo 2.2.1? I'm just saying this because in lumin's post the one click he talking about is KJ6 but the link you put here is to go to froyo 2.2.1? Thanks.

That's correct, the KD1 one click I linked you to will take you to stock Froyo. Any time lumin mentions the KJ6 one click, just use the KD1 one click instead and you'll be back to Froyo in no time .
Sorry, but i have another question, I dont even know what bootloaders are. Will I need to have flash bootloaders checked the second time when i am going back to stock froyo 2.2.1? Or will i only have to flash it once with the sgh-t959v one click. Let me know. Thanks

Yes you need to flash the bootloaders. The GB bootloaders your phone has at the moment aren't compatible with Froyo, so you should follow the instructions to the letter.

Maybe I missed the answer, but will Superoneclick, (version 2.2) root an unlocked T959V running stock Froyo 2.2.1? I think I would like to root frist and remove some of the bloatware - before upgrading the firmware to GB, ICS, or higher.
Yes, it will root froyo.

Great! Thanks for the instant reply.
I think upgrading to GB from a rooted T959V running FROYO is the way I will proceed. If the root is successful, I'll try to remove some or most of the bloatware, then see how I like the phone - before moving up to GB, ICS, or another firmware upgrade.
Hey, Can someone help me fast. I'm doing the steps here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=21953878&postcount=2 and my command prompt never said Installing drivers and I am in download mode but never said installing drivers and zadig didn't open on my computer. My phone is in download mode right now, what should i do? I followed all the steps correctly.
I have Odin also, but I don't know what files to put in odin, I was using the kd1-one-click to go back to stock froyo 2.2.1 and i was in command prompt but never got the (installing drivers) message and zadig didn't open. I need the the files that i can put into odin that will take my phone to froyo 2.2.1 stock. Please someone help!
I downloaded Zadig from the internet and ran it and did the steps in lumin30 post. After I clicked flash on the kd1 one-click, and on the bottom is says flash SBL after my phone finished it loaded into the android page and installed packages and show the tmobile splash screen then the samsung boot logo.(It shows the froyo 2.2.1 boot logo though because i remember how the gingerbread 2.3.6 boot logo. and then i took out usb like lumin said and put into download mode again and checked flash bootloaders and and still says flashing sbl. My phone is now with a black screen and vibrates every 10-15 seconds and my lights on the 4 buttons on the bottom are on. Please I need the files that i need to put into odin to get my phone to boot up!! All my phone does is black screen and vibrates every couple seconds. Someone please help if i can use odin to fix this.??
