I will be posting themes that I am porting for SHu8i builds.
I will be taking requests -
before I begin anything major and receive too many requests I will make a few things clear -
1) I will not be fully supporting these themes.
2) I will support the thread
3) When the build is updated, the themes will be updated.
4) Any requests need to be sent to me via PM - NOT VIA THREAD REQUEST. I will be subscribing to this thread and checking it often, but I will not be able to sift through a pile of posts and reply to them all.
Themes will be uploaded later this evening - I am currently putting finishing touches on a few of them.
IN ORDER TO USE THESE THEMES YOU WILL NEED KNOWLEDGE ON ADB OR HAVE A UTILITY LIKE ANDROID COMMANDER INSTALLED ON YOUR PC (I personally use a little bit of both, but it is up to you in the end as both work very well)
Themes already ported -
Stock Froyo
Manup456 NexTang
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Here we go!!!!
-INSTRUCTIONS-
1) backup your build to your PC before adding these themes.
2) load up android on your phone and connect it via usb
3) if you have adb working you can just push the framework-res.apk file to /system/framework/ - the exact commands and steps i used are in the code box right below.
Code:
adb devices
adb push C:\framework-res.apk /system/framework/
4) if it throws an error saying that permission is denied you will need to do the following
Code:
mount -o remount,rw /system
5)you will get a force close on a few apps, just choose force close
6) reboot phone and boot back into android
7) if you get a bootloop, restore your old build and dont come crying here because you cant read instructions
8) if the theme works, congratulations, you can read and enjoy your new theme
9) if you bootloop, there isnt much i can do for you. Please be sure you are using the correct theme for the correct build. currently only 1.4b is supported - support for 1.4c and on WILL be coming soon.
10) dont spam the thread, as soon as this starts to happen I will delete all links and this OP. I am tired of noobs not reading or searching before trying to mess with their phone. There are plenty of resources here on XDA that can help you figure out what and how to do things. For the sake of everyone here on XDA, please please please search.

minimal matte and tutorials of how you did it so other members have an idea of how to theme. I've had an issue theming (metamorph CM6 themes well) but themes that require flash to recovery lead to an unbootable system. Some help would be appreciated

Sweet, but is there a shubCRAFT 1.4c UNTHEME (froyo stock)???
I am heading back to the lab as I type this. when I get there I will update to 1.4c and post the themes. these are only going to be the framework-res files **for now**. once I find a faster way to theme the rest of the /system files and apps ill start posting those as well.
to whoever asked for the sense theme or compiled theme- I am only going to be working shu8i builds because they are based off of cyanogen builds and thus are de-odexed and are easier to work with.

Thanks a ton! Can't wait for your UNTHEME Shubcraft 1.4c with STOCK FROYO
Would it be possible to post step by step instructions on how to change the theme? IF you post a framework file, can i just replace it in the system files using SU explorer (under R/W mode) and reboot into Android? Would that work?

it's pretty easy actually.. since both htcleo_update.tar.gz and framework-res.apk can be open easily with 7zip...
all you need is to edit the drawable-hdpi folder inside the framework-res.apk..
if I have a spare time.. I'll try to give a step by step...

Apps that were taken out (this is NOT an flashable zip. Unzip and push apks to /system/app)
Just put the apk you want to push in your SDK tools folder, then
Code:
adb remount
adb push <name of apk1>.apk
adb push <name of apk2>.apk
adb push <name of apk3>.apk /system/app
adb reboot
This ROM has NO media folder in it (aka no built in ringtones to save space),
so copy the media folder in the above zip to your sdcard (refer to this link for reference):

FIXES:
-If your HTC Widgets aren't on the homescreen at first boot, go to:
Settings > Applications > Manage Applications > HTC Sense > Clear Data
-Enable VVM: Settings > Call > Voicemail Service > My Carrier
-Before asking about SuperUser not working, make sure USB Debugging is Checked ON
KNOWN PROBLEMS:
-Internet Sharing not working with PRI 1.70_003 (Error 67) (unless you pay Sprint to use it)

I'll give it a shot, again.
Final testing pre-release of the NON-Themed RegawMOD v2.1
If all is good, I'll be uploading it soon.
There are only a few differences between v2.0.2p and the new v2.1r (non-themed 2.1).
The few difference between them are
Added working 3DGallery
Changed some graphical things, but leaving a GREAT base for someone else to make themes based on the ROM.
Also, I have optimized EVERY single .png in /system/app and /system/framework, and saved about 7mb from the size.
The main update in v2.1t (Themed version) is, well the theme that nebenezer and I have been working on extremely hard on for the past 3 days (or more, I can't remember anymore). It is so system deep, that trying to pull the theme from it would essentially be pulling the entire ROM.
There was a request in the noob thread for all the Android Vanilla icons.
Hacked the SDK and merged it together with a few other files and such. Have done extensive editing since, and plan to continue!
Changelog:
- v03
: Added Dialer Support (BlurPhone)
: Added new background
: Fixed a variety of bugs.
- v04
: Fixed Dialer
: Fixed Imdb (requires installing MY version)
: Fixed Tabs
: Fixed Tab Text (Made it White)
- v05
: Added Swype
: Added LatinIME (Multi-touch kb)
: Fixed some things with BlurPhone
: Fixed some things with Framework
I'm open to further improvements! Enjoy!

Hey Quick Question,
Any chance you could put a semi transparent background on the notifications window? so that it would look similar to CM?
Also does this update the lock screen? to replace those dumb looking black lock things?
BTW this is pretty ****ing awesome as is, sorry I forgot to say that

Yeah I did this as a favor in just a few minutes this morning. When I get home I'll patch the services.jar for the FroYo transparency fix.
I'll also look into the red buttons and such, that is probably being referenced by an xml somewhere that I have to replace from the SDK

Cool here are some screenshots of a few other things I have noticed to help you get this cleaned up
Some of the red highlights are still present such as the dialer buttons
When in a call the top notification bar goes all black and is unreadable
Some of the font colors are incorrect on the buttons when they should be black they are instead white
Here is a screenshot of the music player as you can see it has both the red highlight and the incorrect colors on the buttons
If at all possible I would also looooovvveee to see rounded corners on the notification bar
Also I just wanted to add a big thank you to you for doing this... This is awesome of you!!!!!
Thanks for your exhaustive reporting of problems!
I'll be fixing most of these issues tonight after work!
Thanks, this is awesome. Aside from the issues mentioned above, everything else seems to be pretty damn perfect. Great job.

Again, this theme is awesome. I'm very much looking forward to the bug fixes.
Probably tonight. I was running into issues getting the keypad to work. The problem is there are some "motorola only" images in the res.apk and I have to find the XML's where they are called and either remove them or point them to the proper "vanilla" xml's.
Once I figure that out it's just a matter of compiling it and releasing it!

Below is a link to a 2.1 version. It suffered from the same shortcomings as the current build of this 2.2 version. The developer did make a version with a patch which simply darkened the text boxes to make the text more readable.
http://alldroid.org/default.aspx?g=posts&m=8721#post8721
I am working on the text. Been pretty busy with a lot of stuff so progress slowed for a bit. I should have a fix out soon.

No rush, man. You're doing a lot of good work and I know things get prioritized. Keep it up.
So, will this technically WORK on a 2.1 device? I like this theme's notification panel and battery a lot more. The other seems to be a tad blurry.
Got the text/dialpad working. Will put up tested files tonight or tomorrow morning!

Good stuff man...only issue with new version is that date and time in notification bar are off white and hard to see.
Other than that its great

TwoPointThree
you guys may remember this theme from froyo (i know you all do), the new version looks alot closer to the original since some of the changes in the CM source have allowed it to be.

-sweet stock green gingerbread keyboard now included credit goes to Reprod in the evo forums
-green gradient progress bars
-all the other things you loved about twopointtwo
RLS1.1
-can be used on both the 1/26 and 1/28 RLS's
-flip animations
-resized lock screen
-prob a few other things i have missed

this is based off the newest aospGBmod posted early this morning i will likely be making new versions of this till he posts a deodex'd version:
This is a Full ROM (not just an Update or Theme)
-you MUST do a clean install (since the build is odex'd failure to do a complete wipe will cause problems)
features,
- twopointthree theme (minus the themed desk clock the stock ones still works though)
- a lot of bloat removed
-stock launcher2
-notification tray toggle switches are removed
-added back the stock (themed) music.apk
things i have taken out
-pacman.apk (used for installing commonly downloaded items from the market on the markets first use)
-livewallpaperpicker - i dont use live wallpapers so it just took up space for me (i will likely make a flashable zip to put them back in for people who want them)

Wow I was just thinking, "wouldn't it be great if he made a new twopointthree for aospGBmod 0.2"
And so I check XDA forums and BANG here it is.
Thanks a million. I will use it religiously.
Glad to see you're still working on your themes for GB, downloading now
Ok, I can't download it stupid 4shared keeps quiting download right away and I only get 100KB of it... Anyone else having problems? I'm doing this on a computer not my phone (which gives me the same damn problems)
updated the first post, now that i have a ROM to build off of i should be able to RLS mostly updates for a while.
in order to use the update, starting from scratch
-nandroid
-install the ROM
-install your Gapps
-boot go through startup wizard (or just boot up if not using the wizard)
-then flash the update
if already using the ROM
-make a nandroid
-flash the update
enjoy guys! its bed time for me again
Please, I wouldn't normally ask this, but could you re-upload to somewhere besides 4shared? I cant download the ROM.
Great job Kyle! Looks awesome as usual my man. As soon as aosp gets Bluetooth and GPS working I'll be on the 2.3 bandwagon

I've gotta say I am not a fan of clockworkmod v3.0.0.5. It wil not let me install scripts like this update. Going back to Darchs RA recovery image!
looks awesome, nice work kyle! fyi, your latest update was done on 11/14/2011, lol. check the post. also, as this is a rom, you should put it into the development thread again, nice work.
what files control the signal bar?
and same for volume bar

i would put this in the development thread but doing that just would not be true, this is a theme with a modified slimed down ROM, i did not produce the rom and the rom already has its own Development thread.
also i fixed the date in the OP

the signal bars are in the systemUI folder
the volume up and down are controlled by an xml in the framework-res
since the stock ROM is odex'd you cant just flash this over top of it hence why you cant just have the signal bars, i am getting around it because i have modified the ROM so i can get in and tamper with it without causing an issue
ur good at theming, is everything i need to theme besides apps in the framework folder? or is it just framework.apk an stuff that has .jar have nothing to do with themeing

Kitchen originally was built for HTC Desire, but now it supports most devices with Android OS.
Kitchen takes files from your rom and adds modifications you choose.
I have no association with this site, just a fan of it =)
With UOT you can customize the notification bar, notification bar icons, boot animation, window animations, and much more!
THIS WORKS WITH ANY 2.2 and 2.3 ROM!
Just an example of what I did to the notification bar icons on Wolfbreak's ROM using this website.

Make a backup before you do this. I am not responsible for what happens to your device. (Tough to mess up =) )
How to use kitchen
1. Go to Kitchen page http://uot.dakra.lt/kitchen/
2. Browse through available mods and choose what you need (press generate preview)
3. Go to File upload section and upload your files or choose rom from kitchen's list (most roms in the list is for HTC Desire) Make sure you do this or you cannot finish your process. I have only seen Trips old 1.5 MIUI ROM and Wolfs 007.1 on the list. Send a request in to UOT Kitchen to add any ROM to the kitchen list.
OR
3. I suggest navigating to your rom, clicking system, then framework, then framework-res(for froyo ROMS only)
For gingerbread ROMS just upload the SystemUI file as well along with the step above.
4. In the same tab you will see "Select flashable zip scripting" Make sure you fill the bubble for "Amend scripting."
Cyanogenmod7 rom: Cyanbread.apk or Androidian.apk or any theme for ThemeChooser (rename as you like it to appear in theme menu)
NOTE 1: if you uploading theme apk - do not upload any other files (you're just wasting trafic, because kitchen will ignore additional files)
NOTE 2: Font packs and Bootanimation do not requires uploading files.
4. Go to Summary section. All choosen mod must be in green background. If there is mod in red background - it means you did not finished it.
press Submit work to kitchen
5. Remember UOT file name. You can wait for a kitchen to cook your request, but after 5min waiting will be stopped (nothing to worry about).
6. Go to Pickup page http://uot.dakra.lt/pickup/ and wait for your file to appear (it can take up to 30min or more)
7. Download UOT zip into SD card of your phone
8. Reboot into xrecovery and flash the UOT zip.
9. Reboot and enjoy =)

Not sure what your talking about for the stock 2.2.1 froyo, but if you download it and go to the system--> framework -->then res.apk you can find it
thanx.. although I already know how to find out problem is my framework already has battery percentage so it just keeps coming up with error when going through the kitchen hence I was hoping someone had the unmodified framework-res.apk?

Highlight system files because your uploading Wolfs Rom. Make sure you extract WB-009 Rom into a folder you can navigate to. Then when you have a folder go to the system--->framework---> Then framework res.apk. Then go to upload and then your good =)
Also make sure to highlight in "Amend scripting" instead of "edify scripting"
Thanks, i will use it!

Attempted with new gingerbread and it works! Just upload the framework res apk AND the SystemUI which is under system---> app--> SystemUI
I would like to see everyone getting evolved with personalizing there phone to their liking. Minor theming is not hard at all (i can do it lol). But its opens a door to what can be done with alot of effort from you. We wont have this phone forever, and it is a difficult one to mod, so by starting on this one it should only get easier... right?
Im gonna be stepping back on theming and mod investigations for a few weeks, im still in process of moving and everything is getting packed soon, un packed when house is ready in couple weeks.
These are necessities for tools to start customizing your rom.

Notepad++ : Needed to edit XMLs.

IF you are looking at skinning, I would say most of your edits will be in xml files.
There will be an apk associated with the widget. I would start by decompiling that, using apkmanager (That is my preference. I haven't played with any of the programs ciscogee is recommending) and starting with simple PNG edits. Then work your way up from there.

One thing I forgot to mention. You will need to install the SDK, java dev kit., and have adb in your path, to use apkmanager. Ciscogee has a tut linked in the op for that.

Now you are starting to learn what to ask. No, you don't. Xml controls what images are shown, where they appear on the screen, and the text colors and sizes. But changing the actual colors of the buttons themselves doesn't affect the xml.
