Can anyone take this animated gif and convert it to a boot animation? It looks cool, and I've tried but I can't figure it out
http://browse.deviantart.com/digitalart/3d/abstract/?order=9&offset=72&offset=120#/dp1azn
That is pretty frickn sweet. If it gets ported into a bootup I want it. Subscribed
heres my attempt...
1 it stretches it to fit the screen
2. i dont know that the incredible can handle it. i tried it at 15fps and at 30 both seem super jumpy feel free to try it out
maybe someone can do better than i
so after 4 failed upload attempts i uploaded to my rapidshare acct

Hey guys/girls,
Ages, I tell ya. Ages!
Been looking for realistic animated code wallpaper for my HD2 for so long now.
I know it must exist but I just can't find it, or at least a animated code wallpaper that doesn't look ghetto.
Can anyone help, point me in the right direction, or put one together? I'd pay for the latter to save myself plugging away online any longer.
Please and thanks!

No-one has yet discovered how to create animated wallpapers for the HD2 (or they've not told anyone, if they have!)
The ones that you have seens have simply been the stock animated wallpapers with the images changes. The actual movement has been exactly the same. Someone did one that they called a "matrix style" wallpaper, but it unfortunately looked nothing like the matrix rain.
Until we know how to code the animated wallpapers, you're not going to get this unless you use a UI that allows animated gifs as wallpaper.
I would love a full sized animated wallpaper. I must say I love wallpaper. I really dont like all the icons on the HD2. I use Spb Shell and keep the main screen free of icons. It's just like Android.
Ok so I think I finally have this working correctly, I really liked frysee's bios boot animation but I wanted one for the Evo, so I ripped off his work.
I edited most of the info to make it match the Evo specs, but some stuff I couldn't easily find on the web so if anything is inaccurate I would be more than happy to update the animation if you give me the correct info. Also I think the speed is pretty good, maybe pause a little longer at the end of the first screen but I wanted to hear some feedback on it before I did anything. (renaming 50 images just to try something out isnt much fun).
Ive attached the file below, If someone could sign it for me great, otherwise I just use pushboot to easily add it in. Also there is no sound, I thought about adding in a system beep noise but thats not really worth it.

First off, this is my very first boot animation, so don't be too harsh. I would like to thank everyone here at XDA, because without you guys I wouldn't know absolutely anything. I also want to give a quick thanks to Lrod0175 because I used his animation as a reference to figure out how to make mine work.
I made this boot animation as a learning experience, but I do plan to make more. It is themed after the last Harry Potter movie because I saw a request for it earlier today.
I didn't make the video run in full 480*800 because it stretches the video and makes it look.. awkward. Instead, I ran it at it's default video size and animated some "HTC Evo 4G" text to move around a little bit at the beginning. Also, it is somewhat short, again, this was mainly a test for myself to see if I could figure out how to make one. It is designed for Sense based ROM's as well.
PREVIEW (You can watch in 1080, full screen, if you want.)
Download Link
You need to push this to /Data/Local if you are on Kinged Kingdom RLS 2.1. You may also have to change the permissions on it with Root Explorer or something similar.
Let me know what you think of it and please "Thank" me if you like it.

That's awesome and great work!!! Where's the sound though ?
I was only really focused on the actual animation in this one, so i didn't put any sound with it. I plan on making some more very soon and ill incorporate sound into those.

Nice man can't wait to see it!
Nice
Looks great!
Here are some bootanimations I created from the attract mode of the video arcade game Tron (and a bonus one from pacman - attached). One is 5fps to keeps the filesize smaller (attached) and the other is 15fps (link below). They include ALL the stuff that's displayed in Tron's attract mode so unless you have a REALLY long (3+ minutes) boot you won't see it to the end.
Let me know if you try any of them and how the work for you. I've tested all of them on my phone and they all work for me.
To install I use adb. But you can use whatever method works best for you. Just place the file wherever your ROM looks for bootanimations. If you're not sure where that is, you can check /system/customize/CID/default.xml. It should have a place that specifies where the device will look for bootanimations.
I'm also open to requests. If you have a favorite classic arcade game (centiped, missile command, space invaders, galaxian, etc.) let me know and I'll see about whipping up a bootanimation for you.

Will install tonight and report back.
These are both really cool. Takes me back to the arcade as a kid. Both the attached files make it to the end of the animation for me. You should keep updating this with new games, I bet alot of people would be happy you did. Thanks dude.
Here's Donkey Kong.
Any other requests?

Good suggestion. I'll see what I can do.

Dig Dug bootanimation
Here's one for Dig Dug.
the filesize restrictions on .gif files here are so restrictive that I cannot upload a good quality animated .gif. So, what you see in the .gif is just a rough representation of the bootanimation. To see the real thing you'll need to download the .zip and put it on your phone.
If anyone knows of a good free image host I'll put better preview .gif files there.

I found a nice animated gif on reddit that I thought would make a cool fullscreen boot animation for the N5.
So, I contacted the guy who made the gif, and asked him to make some 1920 resolution individual frames for it.
Today I got a reply from him with an album of all the individual frames re-rendered in high 1920 resolution.
Here it is: http://imgur.com/gallery/ALyzv
can someone please take these frames (there is also a gif on the front of the album for reference of what it looks like animated), crop them if needed, and make them into a nice smooth boot animation zip please?
I know how to copy it in and do the permissions manually, I just need the zip file with the right frame timing etc
The guy responsible for the frames/render asked me to link his tumblr as credit: http://admiralpotato.tumblr.com/
Thanks XDA
Try this one first, if it doesn't work, give this one a shot. the first one I set the FPS to 0 in hopes that it would just run through it smoothly. The second, the FPS is set to 30.

Thanks, that's a great start, however the framerate really isn't working properly.
The first ~5? seconds of the boot it will stutter along at, I dunno, 2-3 FPS, after that it becomes smooth as it's supposed to be. Same case with both files.
More specifically: the first time it plays through the files (24 frames) it goes really slowly, as though it's loading each one one by one very unsmoothly. After that the animation is smooth. Any way to fix this?

It might be because of the high file size of each frame. Let me see if I can do anything about that.
Since the images really take up all 1080x1920 pixels, it's hard to get the file size down. This is pretty much the best I could get.

I brought the animation size down to ~3.3MB and there still seems to be a rough beginning, but I think the animation looks great regardless. Get it here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=49106124

that's great, almost perfect, except the aspect ratio is all squished and wierd on yours. can you use the image frames from the first reply in this thread so it's not squidged? thanks, this is gonna be a real nice boot anim i think

I already made an animation that's scaled properly, I'm not home right now and it's in my laptop so I'll post it later on today. I didn't use the images in the first animation, instead I cropped the images in half and used the left side of the image. It still looks great.

great job, the filesize is very impress, but... seems there was a problem when you were doing batch crop on the images, because they're all completely off-centre... getting so close to perfect, i know you can do it!
