Here you go guys.
This kernel will allow you to use CM6 w/ ext4.
Basic instructions:
Flash back to a normal DK28 rom,
Follow all steps here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=890494
EXCEPT, flash this kernel at the end, after flashing Cyanogen Mod: http://efragtv.com/android/CM6-DUALFS-v1.1.zip
This also fixes wifi, and su.
NOTE: Everytime you flash CM6 (To update to a new nightly, or whatever reason) YOU HAVE TO REFLASH THE KERNEL!! CM6 installs its own kernel.
iam confused...do u have to flash to stock..then do the ext4 then flash cm6...then the kernel or wat
Just as you said.
UPDATE:
This new version fixes lpm battery charging freeze.
Flash in CWM

This combination absolutely FLYS!!
Consistently score in the 2300 range in quadrant (yeah yeah I know), but the whole phone just feels snappier too.
For some reason my 3g doesn't seem to work, so I won't be keeping it (tired of not receiving mms too, so that's as good of an excuse to try out Quantum as any).
Great work Dameon87! Hopefully the cmsgs team implements this in as standard in the future!

Hmm.... I wonder what would've stopped 3G from working in the modification...
Was there any reason Samsung used RFS in the first place? Is there no downside in using ext4? I usually use ext3/4 when given the choice on a desktop Linux installation, but just wondering if there's something I'm missing here.

1) its their proprietary file system
2) ext4 was not made for flash memory..thus will reduce the lifespan of your NAND memory..don't panic though it'll still last a few years...just not as long as it would with RFS...
Mostly 1...
Just for curosity do you have any links for actual half life of data on flash memory, would be a great resource if you did.

So, I've been running Quantum ROM 2.5 with ext4.
Can we flash this and CM6 without going back to stock DK28 and running the bat file?
In case I don't catch you...
You forgot root in the kernel. So, here I am, super fast ROM, and no root access. Oh, and it took three tries:
1st - Formatted everything, couldn't remount anything
2nd - For some reason, 2.5.1.2 recovery just vanished, couldn't boot, house caught fire. Blah.
3rd - Smooth. Everything seems to be going well. Except root.
k thx bai
Yea Clockwork 2.5.1.2 disappears on its own for some reason. Once you have ext4 installed and 2.5.1.2 disappears you're screwed. 2.5.1.0 can't flash, back-up, or restore anything it seems.
i havent tried this with cm6, but the issue with 2.5.1.2 "disappearing," it might actually still be there. in 2.5.1.0, go to advanced > reboot recovery. you might get 2.5.1.2, i'm not sure where it installed, but ROM manager reboot to recovery foes to 2.5.1.0 but adb reboot recovery and reboot recovery from 2.5.1.0 brings up 2.5.1.2.
Is this kernel clockable

No matter what ROM/Kernel I flash to i loose my WIFI access. When I go into settings/Wifi it just says ERROR. Anyone have any idea what I'm doing wrong?
With CM7.0.3.1, I have been using bcblends tinyrcu (available through kernel manager) and leave min/max as is (806max/245min) make sure you wipe cache/dalvik before installing the kernel...
Hope this works for you.

I have a regular evo with this same problem, tried 3 dif kernals, and upteen romflashes.... still have wifi error in settings
still no progress on this, i still have this problem... super gay
I too am getting an "Error" when trying to turn wifi, Logcat says " Wifi Driver missing" have tried rebooting, and flashing another rom. any help?
Well it's probably been said before, but here goes When you flash a new Rom make sure you do a FULL wipe. It's seems trivial, but not doing this can and usually does cause all kinds off issues. Also, you should check your WiFi settings, and make sure they're correct.
Full wipe has been done and what wifi settings are you talking about? phone settings can't be accessed because the phone can't turn wifi "on". is it possible to extract the wifi driver from another shift? i have another one at my disposal. BTW wifi was working a day ago no problem. i havn't flashed a new ROM in months and was on a stock rooted rom.
Have you tried to ruu back to stock to see if you have the same issue? Or nandroid back to a version where it worked?
Sent from my PG06100 using XDA App
yea ruu'd back to froyo, re-rooted and reinstalled updated radios, and am back to gb. any idea where the wifi drivers would be? thanks for the replies.
Have you just tried it from a stock froyo rom? RUU back to 2.2 and just try it from there. It should reflash all the proper radios. Maybe the wifi chip is defective in the phone too. It happened at work to a co-workers playbook.

+1 on that. Also if it was working then not. Something else might be up, are other devices able to connect to that WiFi spot with no issues? It is possible to extract the wifi driver from another SHift. But if you just RUU back to stock it should work. If not somethingelse is definately wrong. To get to the settings: Menu-Settings-Wireless & Networks-Wi-Fi settings-menu-Avanced.
yea went ruu'd back to stock, no dice. wifi just says "error" after "turning on", must be an internal problem. other devices work fine on this point. what would be the steps to extracting the driver from another shift, i have one ready to go.
If you RUU'd back to stock, and it's a still no good. Then you might want to consider getting a replacement if WiFi is really important to you. Especially if you know for sure that other devices can connect, and you cannot on a stock Rom. But you do risk getting an updated Shift. Not a risk worth taking in my eyes. Did you make sure and check all the settings?
Yea all the settings are good, it definitely seems to be an internal problem at this point. I'm weighing the options right now and came close to ruu'ing to gb to see if it solved the problem, but I just couldn't give up root.
only 2 things come to mind on what caused this, i attempted to update to the newest ota htc update over the stock rom, ( i know stupid, got the android + !) and i installed an app to transfer files over wifi.
Wifi isn't too important but I hate the feeling of not having my phone %100.
Same problem here. I just got a wifi-error running the latest shift-deck. The phone was brand new with a bad esn (planning to flash to a different carrier) and was first turned on 8/2/11. so basically 2 weeks turned on. This just happened 2 days ago. Cleared everything and flashed again. Don't know how to RUU or what it is. Anyone want to explain?
Ruu basically puts the phone back as if it were just out of the box. There is a thread somewhere here with the file. Just make sure you get the froyo version, otherwise you won't be able to root.

Ok well this past Saturday I spent atleast 7 hours flasing this phone and trying different combinations of kg4 leak and kg6 leak. I would just like to share some results ive had with mixing the two.
First flash in Odin:
I used the entire kg4 leak except I swapped the pda kg4 file for the kg6 leak. That resulted in being stuck in 3e recovery and trying to reboot brought alot of cache and data errors.
Second flash with Odin:
Flashed kg4 leak with all files. rooted using Odin with fugumod. In the end it said I was rooted but I never found the su binary. Flased drhonks kernel ontop of that and still no su binary but root check says im rooted. Also tried to get Linda to talk on this try but didnt hear a thing. Had sdcard unavailable error aswell. Dissappearing apps on reboot.
Third flash in cwm:
So I flashed kg6 deodexed and before rebooting I flased drhonks modded kg4 cwm kernel, checked mounts reboot. Installed busybox 1.19 and tried to convert to ext4 and got sdcard full issue. Back to Odin
Fourth flash in Odin:
Kg6 leak and drhonks kernel. Same errors as before with Linda and the sdcard issue.
Ok lots more flashes but ill gat to the one that got me stable.
Final flash with Odin:
Flashed kg4 leak let it bootup and didnt setup anything and immediately turned it back off. Odined kg6 leak with csc file from kg4, let it boot and again did nothing but tirn it back off and back into down load mode. Flashed fugumod for root let it boot up and off again and then flashed drhonks kernel. Booted up and finally did the setup, went to the market amd searched for superuser, there was an update so I got it along with voodoo control app. Made sure voodoo lagfix was disabled in app. Booted into cwm turned lagfix on. Linda did her thing in no time flat. It booted up and all my apps were still there(root check; titanium backup;ect) all seems great. Still cant fiNed the su binary but to hell with it this thing is smooth battery life is great and I swear there been sound improvment in the rear speaker.
So all in all im satified with my gingerbread experience. Had a lot of fun flashing and trying different things some work half ass and some not at all. So tell us how has it been for you?

Got it done right the first time. No issues here. No hanging boot or anything. Went very smooth and would never go back to froyo. I did run into the problem of the voodoo lagfix. I used a spare one gig sd card from my G1 and it converted fine. Its like everyone says, its not working because your sd card had an ext4 partition from froyo builds.

This has been a very trying experience in getting GB working properly, but not that I have KG6 ICBINB working with the new S99partition mounts pushed, I am loving my phone again. Pulling 2400 Quad without OC. Formatting the SD card and eliminating an old ext4 partition from froyo was really all that I needed to do.
That said, there are some minor issues that still haven't been resolved. I am also seeing very week wifi signal. KD1 was very strong, but now unless I am in the room with the wireless it's almost doesn't even register.
The other issue I had was the phone would go into reboot madness if I had wifi on. I think it was the wifi calling feature causing the mayhem. The only way I was able to use wifi without it constantly rebooting was to Freeze wifi calling in TB. As soon as I froze wifi calling it worked flawlessly with wifi enabled or disbled. If anyone has a fix for the wifi issue I would greatly appreciate it.

1. ODIN KC1 stock, boot up, then back to download mode
2. ODIN KG4 stock no root etc.
3. ODIN Dr Honk EXT4+VOODOO+CWM
4. Still on RFS
5. Flash ICBINB GB version (KG6)
6. Boot up still on RFS, Lagfix disabled.
7. Install busybox
8. Reboot to recovery
9. Turn on data and system voodoo lag fix ext4 conversion etc.
10. Boot up Linda talks ( had the stock 16gb sd card with 6gb free) and Linda converts
11. Load into the system and voila running great.
I did however, go back to just KG4 due to some FPS issues that I couldn't resolve. Right now on Whitehawkx's deodexed KG4 with Dr Honk slight kernel mod + cwm + ext4.

This was the first time I installed a custom ROM. I jumped into this a few minutes after the ICBINB ROM was posted so there were no clear instructions and I didn't take the time to read enough. I skipped steps 2-4. So I learned how to use ODIN and how to get into download mode by taking out the battery and holding the volume buttons.
Everything works great no reboots, WIFI calling works great and my Quadrant scores are high (2400+).
My only problem is a weak WIFI signal. I don't get a WIFI signal in a room where I used to get a signal.
I have spent the past few days flashing and experimenting and Dsext can confirm through the PMs we shared that I've had quite a few issues and I have just about everything down to a science. While running the ACID KG4 with ext4 support everything worked great except wi-fi calling. If you've read the thread on here and rw, you can tell this has been a huge issue for me and I hope I can clear this up for all.
When installing busy box, I tried using this JRummy's BusyBox Installer. Busy Box would never install properly (i.e. when you turn Voodoo on, you get a kind of bootloop that allows you to enter android then all of a sudden plays the startup over again and continues to do so.) When using Stericson's Busy Box, everything works flawlessly. I have not once had to format my SD card in any way shape or form.
As far as the wifi calling issue. I have finally settled into ICBINB GB Rom. I had issues getting it to work and here is my solution and explanation. When you flash this ROM, you'll get everything working. When you start to enable your tweaks, you'll find in the restarts your issues will come. I have found that if you leave your wifi turned on and reboot your phone, your phone will no longer connect to the T-Mobile network in any way (i.e. WiFi Calling nor through celluar network). If you reboot your phone WITHOUT wifi turned on everything works great. I believe the kink lies inside the wifi telling the phone that since it is connected to wifi, it doesn't need the data connection so therefore blocks that out. I have informed Dsext of this issue and he is checking it out and will hopefully have it fixed in the next week. Hopefully that helps anyone with those issues.
As for performance, well I'll let my screenshot cover that.

This seems to happen to me every time I flash a rom/kernel/modem. Reboot to recovery, wipe cache, then go to advanced and fix permissions, and reboot.
bluetooth should work after that. You still may need to disconnect and repair your device though.
That fixed it. Thanks!

To start I'm not sure if this is the right place to post considering I can't post on the development thread yet.
So I was running the quickwiz 1.0.3 rom and i flashed the dag kernel and accidentally did a data wipe, so I then restored it to a previous backup. Now there are random times where my phone will lock the screen and it won't turn back on. I've tried doing fix permissions in rom manager and cwm. I tried reflashing the same rom via cwm, and the issue still sticks. I have yet to try Odin and don't really want to. Any ideas?
