[APPS] Must have Root only - Nexus One Themes and Apps

So I am starting to get bored of my nexus one, only joy I get out of it is flashing CM Nighties. So... I looked at my phone and don't have much apps, so I would like to know what are your MUST HAVE root apps.
so far mine is
Adfree
Root Explorer

SuperUser. Bwhaha...
Here's my real list:
SetCPU
AdFree
Root Explorer
Titanium Backup
CacheMate
AutoKiller
Metamorph
Quick Boot
ShootMe
Trackball Alert Pro

I dig Root Explorer and Metamorph, both excellent programs. Ninjamorph is great also.
I think ive tried pretty much every file manager around, and Root Explorer, while missing some feature i wish it had (multi-file selection) is the best ive found hands down. Big ups to that dev.
Metamorph is great also because it just makes it incredibly easy to design and implement your own custom icons on your phone. Its a very satisfying feeling to be able to look at your $500 N1 and say, "I designed that, and that, and that..."
Yup, Stericson's the man.

Root explorer does have multi-file selection. Just press the menu button and then choose 'multi-select'

Great apps. Just downloaded Quick Boot, and it's amazing. Makes things much simpler.
Forgot to mention:
Nexus One Torch (I'm always using my phone to find my way in the dark.)

Yup!
(Nandroid of course, and reboot after push.)
In the Froyo release, normal Music.apk is called MusicGoogle.apk, there's also an odex in /system/app i had to get rid of. (MusicGoogle.odex)
Code:
adb remount
adb push Music.apk /system/app/MusicGoogle.apk
That will replace the default, you can also push to Music.apk if you want to keep it. If you DO replace it, you have to remove the odex file, i used root explorer but you can do it via adb or term i guess. =P
Android Commander...my choice of UI
wow this app is sick!! great update it would would be great if you can mock the gingerbread music app
I really love this mod. Simple and elegant. I am having an issue with with fast scrolling however.
When using the quick scroll tab to navigate artists, albums, etc, the displayed letter does not seem to correspond with my place in the list. Also, the letters do not seem to scroll alphabetically. They appear random. (some are capitalized, others not). Am I missing something?

I'm using 2.2 and flashed the update zip. I have the widgets now but the player still looks stock. Do I have to do the adb thing? Thanks in advanced.

[Q] Opening/closing animations (I HATE FADE)

I just bought a inspire 4g yesterday, amazing piece of tech but I HATE the fade animations when you open/close stuff. Is there a way to get samsung like zoom in / zoom out animations for applications instead of fade? Fade makes me sick really and I want to keep this phone. Its not rooted but if needed I will root it.

Not sure exactly but you could try going into Display and turning off animations or try downloading GoLauncher or a different Launcher and check the settings.
or root the phone and flash custom rom.

I don't want to turn off animations, I want to just change the fade animation with a zoom in animation similar to that on samsung phones
you will have to root and flash a custom rom that has it, or a launcher.
Adw ex has an option to change the animation when you open apps. It does cost a couple bucks but it's worth it for all the customization options you get

Root and tell me what your running, or give me your framework-res.apk, and pick the animations you want from YouTube. Search android window animations or something -they'll come up. I can change them in the framework in about 30 sec and it will be system wide-not just apps.

Down load File Expert or File Explorer from the Market. Even Ghost Commander will do it. File Expert and Ghost Commander are free; File Explorer is a paid app.
Allow Root permissions then navigate to \system\framework
That's where you will find "framework-res.apk".
Actually, now that I think about it...goto the UOT Kitchen: http://uot.dakra.lt/ follow the "How To" directions and under "Windows Animations" you can change the App Animations. It will change them for the whole device not just apps.
Don't know why I didn't think of it earlier. I think thats what di11igaf was getting at.
Anyone? Idk what to do...
I think the market program that Nickovtyme was referring to is Root Explorer. He's right, it's an invaluable tool to have on your system, and a bargain for the couple bucks it costs. That was the good news. The bad news is that I'm not skilled enough to help you through what you want to do, so you need to wait until one of the first two guys gets back with you for the solution to that animation problem.
-Mike
Either upload your framework here for someone to add animations or do it in the uot kitchen. You upload it and it does everything for you, then download it.
Ok, ill try to find my framework and upload it onto here.
/system/framework
You need an explorer that can access the root of filesystem, not just /sdcard like astro.
I highly suggest root explorer.

I only tested on HTC sensation with CM 9.1 ROM, I think there're some bugs on different devce, so If you have some problems or suggests, please reply here, I'll fix it as soon as possible.
If you find some problem, please post here.
A few things after just try the app: the interface is nice,a little too rainbow there, but good looking, so far no problems; the bar in the bottom is taking precious space, could the settings and exit buttons be somewhere else?? Top bar should be less polluted also.
Overall this app was everything we expect from a file manager:thumbup:
I installed the app on CM7.2 on Galaxy Ace I. I really like the app, but i faced some FCs when giving root permission, but still works.
Btw, i really like the UI and it is pretty smooth. My suggestion for the app is to include an option to block the app with a password.
@edit
Never mind, FCs was SuperUser related.

A LAN SMB client and root explorer options (like setting permissions) would be great too (both are presents on ES File Explorer or Root Explorer).
With these suggestions, for sure it would be my default file manager. :good:

Thanks for your suggest. I'll add the password function in v1.1, and root explorer is already support, you can get root permission on setting by touch "Get root access permission", and if you want to modify file on system, you also need touch "Mount system to read/write".
And something like "LAN SMB client" will support on later version.
Thanks.

So now that we have root, list your *must have* root apps - UPDATED Master List

Title says it all. What root required apps were you dying to use on your S6 and now you can? I'll try and keep up with the thread and make a master list. So far:
Titanium Backup
Flashfire
CF.Lumen
AdAway, Ad Free
Root Explorer, ES File Explorer
Secure Settings/Tasker
3C Toolbox
BetterBatteryStats
Emoji Switcher
KingMaster/User
Viper4Android
LMT
Greenify
Xposed (not working on Samsung LP devices yet.) with Wanam.
SQLite Editor
Samba Filesharing
CSC Feature Expert
App Ops
Right now, I just have Titanium Backup and CF.Lumen.
Any clue if there's an app similar to Wanam to make some visual changes? My first step after rooting is usually cleaning up the status bar a little, but that seems difficult right now until Xposed works on Lollipop TW (if we ever see that day).
AdAway (changes host file to block ads, download off FDroid because it was removed from the play store)
CF.Lumen (like flux but changes the color temperature of your phone at night)
Emoji Switcher (change Samsungs ugly emojis to kitkat/lollipop/iOS)
TiBu (backup and freeze apps)
Root Explore (help me do lots thing~)
KingMaster and KingUser (help me manage root and RAM, which developed by us ~lol~, we are prepare to release them on XDA)
ADB Program (essential thing of developers~):cyclops:
adaway/thread
Viper4Android!!!!
Adblock plus
Tibu
Root Explorer
Tasker
Emoji switcher
Now we just need xposed and I'll be happy
Sent from my SM-G920V using Tapatalk
I'd love to be able to add all apps to pop up view and split screen. Anyone have word on that?

ooo emoji switcher. thanks for that. i was looking for a way to switch out Samsung's emojis.
immediately after root, i installed greenify, titanium backup, betterbatterystats, viper4android, adaway, and LMT.
i would like xposed too but apparently it doesn't work on samsung phones with lollipop. lame.

Very useful apps working without root

I'll root my device but not for the moment. In the meanwhile, I suggest these useful "no root" apps to perform tasks for which we usually use apps needing root:
- For adblock, Block this: this a VPN based adblocker, works very fine, free
- To hybernate some apps, Hybernator: manual hybernation or automated hybernation when screen off, free (not free for system apps)
- To prevent apps autostart at boot, All-In-One Toolbox, free
- To increase number of volume steps, Precise Volume, free (pro version not free)
Pls give further suggestions if you have some...
Guess your already making themes and apps for the xz2 @nreuge nice bro congrats we will miss you back at the z5 community
I'd suggest (and I'm already using) this one: NetGuard - No-root firewall by M66B. Btw, this great app can also block ads :good:

Yes bro, I can confirm, with your script you get rid of many unwanted apps - without root! It's a bat file, means you simply connect your phone with your pc and double-click the bat file via shell. The device reboots automatically when finished. The only two things you have to consider:
1. USB Debugging must be on in developer settings
2. If there's an app which has already been updated before running the script, you can simply use settings > apps to remove that apps.
But I guess, there will be a better description when you'll release it
@serajr
A big thanks to you - awesome work as always my friend! :good::highfive:

Picture Manager is an awesome app to consolidate your 3 different 100andro folders because you flashed too many different ROMs and have always new DSC0001.jpg pictures.
Custom Navigation Bar also rocks!
Ruthless (Pixel 2) Launcher is an awesome launcher with plenty of customizations.
I recommend it.

for pictures/photos there is only one - quickpic, been using it for years, it has every conceivable option possible and has no bloat, the main reason I ever explored the need for a 3rd party app was because the standard Sony Album didn't allow you to exclude folders, it really is extremely good
Port of Pixel 3 live wallpapers are now available: [PORT] [APP] [6.0+] [Google Pixel 3/XL] Pixel Wallpapers 18 [26/09/2018]
I particularly like the Pixie Emerald...
After apk installation, grant location permission to the app to avoid FC.

AdAway
TitaniumBackup
Maybe Greenify. But my battery life and speed is fine.
Running the phone the entire day in the battery save mode.
Btw. Since I unlocked the bootloader and flashed the last September firmware, my touch got better. Even with battery saver mode.

Ha ha, maybe should we start a new thread now
Lspeed is always a must. I've enabled all the performance options which don't affect battery life. XZ2 is still more than powerful, but even more power can't harm ^^
On the contrary, you can enable the battery options (which affect performance). This is the magic of Lspeed, you can do whatever you want
I've installed the following magisk modules:
- Magisk SELinux Manager
- AOSP Volume Steps Increase
- Audio Compatibility Patch (for audio effects remaining active whatever the app)
- Looki75 Product Sans Font (it's the new Google Font)
- App Systemizer - Terminal Emulator
They all work fine
OMG!! Root is so fantastic
