[Q] Problem with timestamp offline incoming sms - Android Software/Hacking General [Developers Only]

The Android system have a big problem with the managing of the offline incoming sms, it report the time when the sms is reached to the device instead the one when it's sended to the net.
Example: it's 11:30 p.m. , I turn off my telephone, at 2:30 a.m. a friend of mine send me an sms, the day after I turn on the device at 7:30 a.m. and I reach the message with the timestamp of 7:30 instead of 2:30!!!
There is a fix for that? Is a problem that afflict every version of Android, I have a T-Mobile G1 wich I have uploaded all Android version from 1.0 to 2.1 (thanks cyanogen), now I have a Galaxy S and the problem persist. If it's the case, I want to try to submit a petition to Google about this, but first want to make sure that it is a problem felt by the community.
thank you

Is there a solution for this. I'd rather have the actual time.

Can you give me more information about this? Wich device do you have? Which is this solution? Thank you...

Can't receive incoming calls

Hi there, I am using VJgrace latest 3.4 ROM, I realized that nowadays, sometimes I would not be able to receive incoming calls, my friends and relatives have complained that I do not pick up their calls, they even showed me the proof of their call logs. They said there were dialing tone. So one day, I tried for myself and true enough, at times, the phone will just light up from idle, but it will not say that there is an incoming calls. When this happen, I cannot make outgoing calls as well, when I try to dial someone, it just hang there.
Any solution? Is this a radio or ROM problem?
I have run the GSM update
I faced the same problem too. I thought my friends were joking. just called myself to confirm. true enough the phone lights up for a second or two then it goes back to sleep.
this is serious. am thinking of going back to WM 5
Really? Wow. That's a new one. I guess I haven't seen this. illi - would you really go *all* the way back to WM5? Are you saying this is a problem in every WM6 ROM you have installed? I'm surprised... I've never seen it on my phone. But I don't get too many calls during the day. And I reboot my phone every 2 or 3 days just for good measure.

i cant afford to loose calls. some friends had complained since a few months back. so i suspect its all WM6 ROMs not just vj's.
i think it happened when the device is syncing because i receive lots of emails. so at that time the gprs/edge is being use. THIS IS MY WILD GUESS ONLY!! I noticed it (the device awakes then back to sleep) once while on active sync and at that moment emails were being downloaded from my email server.
How can yew trouble shoot this problem?

Do you have this checkbox selected? I'm not sure if it makes a difference, but it's one thing I saw.

not too sure but will check next time i active sync. anyway i rarely sync with my pc so i doubt thats the problem - i noticed once while hooked to pc the phone awakens and then sleep. i use mail2web.com's microsoft exchange to sync my emails. i active sync only to do spring cleaning on my device and SD.
if karhoe subscribe to the same telco as me than i suspect its the operator. (hello karhoe you there;-))
I have this problem even when the phone is not connected to Active Sync, when i'm outside. The phone just light up, and then poof, gone. Well, I am using DiGi telco. But I don't have this problem when using Andot's PEE, don't have it when using 3.0 ROM, only recently when I started using 3.1, had this problem, after so long, then use 3.4, still have it
I had this issue with WM5.. now with WM6 I didn't found (yet) this issue. (using EA ROM)
This is a quote of one of my posts (Oct 7 2006, 18:43, modaco):
i think this is a software issue..
i have a spv c600 and have problem with the telephony part (and many other spv c600 users)
1. some times when somebody is calling me the phone does not announce in any way that i have a call.
2. other times when somebody is calling me the phone send automatically a busy tone to the caller and again does not announce me that somebody has called me.
3. and other times when somebody is calling me, the caller is announced by the robot that 'the user is in an uncovered area or has the phone turned off' or it divert it to voice mail (if the WM user has voice mail active. i have it off)
however, point 1 and 2 can be 'detected' by eye on call (phonesharpen). only detected (no answer, no nothing).
- in the first case, a window with caller information is displayed as long as the caller is calling you.
- in the second case, a window appears and disparears extremly fast
to bad that the phonesharpen does not log the detected calls . i have mailed them about this, but on answer..
i gues the problem is the native telephone application
so .. in conclusion WM smartphones are not recommended for people who want to use them as a phone.. who knows what important calls you miss.. i hope this will be fixed someday

@karhoe you should tell this to NiTroGeN and to VJgrace
Gentlemen, I suspect this issue is somehow connected to currently selected homescreen. I had this issue on WM6 build 18120 homescreen with VOIP plugin, but when I chose another one not containing VOIP info, this issue has gone

I tend to believe that it is caused by either of these problems:
1 - the telco (I'm subscribing to the same telco as karhoe)
2 - the voip plugin on the Homescreen
This is what I'll do: I shall deactivate the voip plugin. But I cant afford to unsubscribe from my current telco; it offers the cheapest unlimited data plan. LOL!!
I have a feeling that it is related to VOIP, I did configure my VoIP using the xml method, and then I also installed the VoIP fix button for communication manager. Now im using HTC Home screen and so far, so good

[Q] Sometimes don't receive sms

Hi I have Samsung Omnia running WM6.5. Sometimes the phone instead of receiving an sms only turn on the backlight, but the sms is not received. I have to manually type : #35*barring code*16#[SEND] like turning down sms barrier, but I didn't turn this barrier on, ever. After that the sms is immediately received I only discovered it randomly. If I don't do that, sms wont be received. I have like 3000+ sms in my phone so, maybe this is creating difficulties for WM to handle them. I want to find a way how solve this problem without deleting all sms.
Any idea ? Thx

I remember awhile back there was a phone (Samsung Impression) that would receive a certain number of messages and then it not take anymore. AT&T blamed Samsung and it was a software issue.
My point is that this is not indicative of ANDROID but a long time Samsung problem if my memory serves me correctly
Google it is all over the place

Hmm, your problem rings a few bells, but I concur with Kent.

[Q] New Message's Arrival Time Correction

If I advance the datetime like 10 minutes, I would get new message dated 10 minutes before the previous message i sent.
That's really disturbing. Anyone get it resolved?
You get the times from the network. More precisely from the SMS server (or service center). As far as I know you cannot repair it.
U r right, seems no way. And cm7 has no this problem. I am waiting for cm7 so much. But the keyboard, dialer, local input support is really a big trip i have to go

[Q] New Phone not Updating New SMS & Phone Calls for up to an Hour

I have a weird problem. I searched the forums for a bit here, but did not find anybody posting any similar questions or having a similar problem, so I'm just going to ask now and if somebody can link me to a relevant thread I'd be grateful.
So I just bought my HTC One X 3 weeks ago (AT&T carrier) after using an iPhone for half a decade. Besides a few small issues with the battery draining unbelievably fast (I turned off auto-update apps which seemed to help), I haven't had any issues. However, the past week or so, whenever my friends send me a text message, I will not get a notification, nor will the message pop up for up to an hour after the original sending time. For example, if my friend texts me at 3pm, I will get a notification at 3:45pm with the 3:45 pm time-stamp on the message.
I've noticed this has been happening with phone calls too. I will now have missed calls that I'm only notified about an hour after the actual call (the phone doesn't even ring/vibrate as the call occurs). This is a very frustrating issue for me, obviously. Any help would be much appreciated, thanks for your time!

Viber peoblem

Hi guys,
I was reading the watsapp app problems below in the threads, and I noticed some similarities with NY problem, but not exactly the same so I decided to ask for help in a new forum thread, maybe some one will help me solve the problem for this I'm thankful in advance!
So the problem is as follows:
I have viber on my p8 max and it works fine for some time like hours/days sometimes, I am located in Bulgaria/Europe and my internet/3g/WiFi/phone calls/SMS works just fine. The problem is that sometimes out of nowhere viber gets disconnected and no matter what I do I can't get it back online unless I turn off the phone(restart not working) for few min and get it back online. The atrane thing is that during the time viber goes offline I DO have internet, I can browse the net normally, I can receive and send SMS, I can call and get incoming calls but viber still disconnected until I switch off/on the phone.
I used hangouts, now I'm using the stock contacts/SMS/phone app for the phone, but no matter what I use it still has this problem.
Any one had similar or the same problem? Did you fix it? Any one has any suggestion how to fix it maybe?
Thanks
