Any ideas on how to turn off the annoying delayed end of call screen? Is that baked in deep or something that can be get rid of?

It's in the phone.apk unless you know how to edit apks your screwed
If you hit the back button right after you end the call it will cancel that screen.

thanks, that does indeed work. Now, follow-up question: does anyone know how to make the bloody back button easier to press? You have to think on the Vibrant they probably put that nice little grip ridge just perfectly situated on the back of the phone just for that reason to give the rear fingers some grip. Oh and there is more physical front panel real estate too on the Vibrant down there.

I recall seeing some who were removing some of the coating on the underside of the glass. You have to disassemble the phone but that is a simple process.
i stand corrected, though the thought passed through my mind however just as quick discarded and then thought nah.... not even going to think that one out loud... i guess someone has already thought of it..... cool, im going to go find that.
Personally I liked the fact that the captivate had dim button lighting and actually thought the no light on screen touch problem was a "feature"

All,
I find myself accidently clicking the answer button when my phone rings while in my pants. The button which is pushed for answer call seems to be in the direct aera of touch when grabing the phone. Does anybody have any suggestions how I can make the answer call button less likely to accidently be pushed?

I know what he is talking about. I do it all the time too. When grabbing the phone from his pocket he touches the front of the screen which in turn will move the answer button into the ring and answer the phone. A good solution would be to have the ring and the call/hang up buttons farther from the ring but I am not sure how that could be done.
It's not that hard to grab the phone by the sides while in my pocket. Maybe you guys are wearing skinny jeans? No problem here in slacks, regular or slim cut jeans.

Sorry, can't help you there. There are some apps on the Market that take screen shots but I can't recommend any since I never have problems with the built in one.

I don't think the previous responders get your question. Some roms do support custom boot animations, there are a few threads on the site that explain how to do this. Feel free to look some up.
I think he wants a button in the shut down menu that will take a screenshot of whatever is under the menu. Haha not sure ...

Similar to what is available in CM7? Don't know how that is integrated, but it would require a decent amount of smali work to get it accomplished.

Precisly.. And I guess the title didn't say it all... When I hold the power button.. I get a menu with a couple options.. airplane mode/power phone off ect.. I want an option for a screenshot button in this menu ... Lol.. 2 clear up the confusion.. And than you all 4 your responses

i know its late bute Drocap2 (probably have to get the apk from a search as it was pulled from the market) will let you have a notification bar trigger, map screenshotting to the search button, and has a shake trigger if that helps

Honestly, it's a timing issue... I used to have a hard time getting shots by holding Back and then hitting Home, but I've gotten MUCH better at it. It's all in the timing of how you do it, the best way i can explain it is to press back and kind of say "one one-thousand" to yourself then tap Home without moving your finger off of Back. You'll here the camera shutter sound and it'll be saved to your SD card in a folder for screen shots.
This is the only way I take my shots and it works fine, provided you've got the timing down (also, I've only used Froyo ROMs).

There are still some things you'll never get a screenshot with. Why not just use one of the screen capture apps like DroCap or Shootme? There are likely hundreds more that do the same thing as well.

i will def give them a shot... thank you!!!
so the right side of my screen is not working in one spot from top to bottom. If I push my Vol down or even squeeze the side under the Vol button it will select a widget. Does anyone know why it might be doing this or if it's an easy fix Or not. I got a app from the market that test's where you touch the screen and were it's not working it says I'm touching it on both sides of where I am touching it. It also shows the screen freaking out when I push on the right side

Sounds like digitizer is fail. Not a simple fix but can be done. Warranty or insurance ? Use it.

I ripped off my home button by accident, I don't even know how it happened. I've serched for the hardware buttons for my myTouch4GSlide online but haven't found any. The only ones that show up are the ones for the mytouch 4g. So I was wondering if the Mytouch 4g hardware buttons (home,menu,back,) work on mytouch 4g slide.

My home button fell off too. Its not worth replacing at all. I couldn't find the part. I used just plan Ol' tape to keep it on. The way the buttons are put on the device you need to replace the whole top. Atleast that's what I saw. Just tape it. It'll stay, and look ok. Just use enough for it to stay on. I've had the same tape on here since March.

Unfortunately, this will not work.
The Glacier buttons are slightly shorter and slightly wider. The arch above the button is also slightly different.

It sucks that spare parts are not readily available for this phone. Your best bet is probably to buy a non-working phone or find someone that is parting one out, slim chances. Basically anything breaks on our phone except the digitizer, we're ****ed. :-(

I did not get my phones back from htc repair for over a month, because there was a "hold for parts"
If you don't care about aesthetics and you're rooted you can remap your genius button into your home button if you want. There are many threads on how to remap in a program like ES File Explorer, there are mapping apps that will help you as well. I can change any button I want to have any function I want and all it takes is a reboot. If you don't want a gaping hole where your home button used to be... well then this doesn't help you at all
