TweetDeck Beta
Application Setup
Once you're up and running with Android TweetDeck, you'll be prompted to enter your service accounts. The quickest (and best) way to get started is to log in with an existing TweetDeck account.
If you've previously setup this account in TweetDeck Desktop, any associated Twitter, Facebook, Buzz and Foursquare accounts will automatically be imported. If you would like to add an additional account you can enter the credentials under the appropriate service in the Android app.
Once you've added your accounts, click done to continue.
Feature Overview
Main Timeline
After adding your accounts you'll be presented with the "Home" timeline. New to Android TweetDeck is the concept of the blended column. Your “Home” column will contain updates from Twitter, Facebook, Foursquare and Buzz. The updates from different services are indicated by the following colors:
Black - Twitter
Dark Blue - Facebook
Light Blue - Foursquare
Dark Red - Buzz
New Columns
In addition to the blended home column, we've created a new "Me" column and included Twitter direct messages as a default column type.
“Me,” like “Home,” is a multi-service blended column but unlike “Home” it only includes updates that pertain directly to you. These updates include:
Twitter @ mentions
Facebook notifications
Buzz updates on your content
Update Clock
We've tried to keep your columns clean and optimize the UI for mobile display. You'll notice that updates in the timeline don't have individual timestamps. Instead, we've created what we call the update clock and placed it at the top of each column. As you scroll through your timeline, the update clock will show the time of the top entry. Zooming back through your updates feels a bit like traveling back in time - give it a try
Unread Indicators
We wanted to indicate what updates you've read and not read in a clean and simple manner. Columns that have unread content will glow yellow in their header or dot column indicator if they're off the screen. If you look at the column scroll bar, you'll see that the unread section is indicated by yellow while read is light grey. We also remember your position in the timeline so when you come back to the app you don't have to scroll down to where you left off. If you want to jump straight to the top, just click the column header.
Update Detail Views
Clicking on an update will take you to a detail view custom tuned to highlight the unique functionality of each service. We've spent a lot of time making sure the best features from each service are presented in the best possible way.
In general, the detail view will decode images, conversation, comments, attachments and geotags and display them below Twitter, Facebook and Buzz updates. We've done this to provide a quick way to view all the cool content people are posting without having to dig deep with multiple clicks.
For Facebook and Buzz updates, you can view and post comments directly within the app.
Foursquare Detail View
We've treated Foursquare a bit differently as it's so location-centric. When you click on a Foursquare update, we'll take you to a detail view for the venue your friend has checked into. This view will give you an overview of who else has checked into this location, how long they've been there and any tips this venue may have. You can check in (first button in the toolbar), shout or leave your own tip. You can also jump straight into the new map view.
Map View
You can get to the map view from the main toolbar in column view or directly from a geotagged Tweet or Foursquare venue. The map view gives an overview of any geotagged tweets and Foursquare venues nearby. We pick the 20 most popular Foursquare locations for any given map screen.
If you have friends checked-in nearby they'll be placed at the edge of the map; if you click on them the map will pan and center on their location.
Compose Screen
To go along with the blended multi-service columns, we've created a new multi-service compose screen that will display all of your accounts at once. By default, your main Twitter account is switched on when composing a message but you can broadcast to as many services as you want, including Facebook, Buzz, Foursquare or other Twitter accounts, by simply toggling on the appropriate image.
You can attach images, contacts and locations to your updates by clicking the disclosure triangle; when updating these options will be neatly tucked away under the keyboard.
Once you click “send” your updates will be automatically placed in your timeline and you'll see their send status via Android notifications.
Contacts
The contacts screen can be accessed by clicking the grid on the main toolbar in column view or when you attach a contact in compose view. You have twelve quick slots for the friends you talk to the most. We pre-load the first four slots with your own accounts for easy access to your account overviews. To add a new contact, just click on an empty slot and select a friend. To clear a contact, press and hold on a filled slot.
If you want to get to the profile page of one of your contacts that you haven't added to the quick slots just click on “All Contacts” and you'll see all friends from every service you've added.
If you want to jump directly to a specific Twitter account, just type the username in the bottom box and hit return on the keyboard.
Adding More Columns
In addition to the three native columns, you can add additional columns by browsing user profiles and clicking through the various column types. You can also add search columns directly from the search button in the main toolbar.
For example: You can add your favorite tweets as a column by clicking on contacts, your twitter profile, favorites then add column.
Notification Settings
We use the native Android notification system for alerting you of unread updates for each column. To change which columns get updates, use the hard Android context menu button and select Notifications.

Filters are search patterns you can define to perform a specific action on feed items.
Let's say you don't want to read any news containing "CentOS updates" (or "Apple IOS" ) in it's title. So you define a filter which can be applied to a specific feed or label and you set it's action to mark an item as "read" when any of new feed items contain that search phrase in it' title (and/or context).
Another option is to set action to 'watched'. In this case the item with the search phrase will be placed in "Watched" folder (label) and color coded.
Action "watched and notify" also shows notification when matching items arrive.
New version is online!

Looks really good!
Like: filters, configurability
Dislike: all these share icons - should be configurable (e.g., no point in having a G+ button or a Twitter button if I don't use them...)
P.S.
I found a typo in the about dialog (infromation->information).

Whoa, you're quick
More suggestions:
1) Reading Engadget's feed in the eye-with-list mode, the photos are too wide for the screen.
Can they be auto-scaled like in the just-eye mode?
(My problem with the just-eye mode is that it only shows part of the text)
2) The star icon should IMHO be in the same line with the other icons.
3) The icons are beautiful and effective --- once you know what they stand for.
I suggest you add a help button (that can be configured not to show, once you get the hang of it), that will call upon a quick tutorial (e.g., a screenshot of the interface with individual button explanations).

The eye in the circle is a text (simple) only preview, which also includes an image from the feed. The eye with a list is a 'web' or 'original' view mode, that is original feed content in a webview. I can change the original one, but I think it would be even better to modify text preview. Right now i have limited it to displaying only the first 5 lines of a feed item, but that thing will also be configurable.
Regarding the star, you are also right, will add an option to move it to the item's quick action menu (buttons) or keep it where it is now.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=atz-GnEDevk is a quick introduction to using the app
Thank you a lot for your feedback!
Some more ideas and comments (tell me if you're fed up with feedback, I'll understand...)
- only after watching the video I could get some of the buttons (e.g., mark previous as read). But the video is almost 10 minutes long, and people don't have much patience for it. A quick what-buttons-do is imperative, IMHO.
- some buttons have a wide, irreversible effect (e.g., mark all/previous as read). An undo button could prove useful. Or perhaps a confirmation dialog?
- since I tend to read feeds with many small items, the most important button for me is "mark single item as read". The button is rather small, so I can only hit it 80% of the time; in the other 20%, I change the preview mode. Maybe there should be an easier way to mark individual items as read, for instance make it possible to choose which button precedes the item title (where the star currently is), so people like me could put the mark-as-read button there.
- when switching orientation (portrait <-> landscape), it closes the current item and resets the preview mode (to text). Usually the reason for me to rotate the phone is to get more width for a specific item that needs it (e.g., has an html table), so please make it remember
- would it be possible to choose whether text/web preview is the default? I always use web preview
- jreader's icon keeps swinging in the notification bar for hours. Does it mean it's working? completed?
- in the filters activity, I think it's better to have similar icons for backup and restore; maybe a diskette with in/out arrow?
- in the add/edit filter activity, I think it'd be more clear to have some other UI element instead of a checkbox to choose between "title only" and "title and contents", perhaps a push button; also, what does the crosshair button do?
- in the movie it seems to work, but on my device I cannot chose to which label/feed a filter is applied. I only have "any feed" / "any label" in the drop-down boxes.
Thanks again!
Feels great...thanks

[APP][2.2+][WIP] SwipeScreen - gestures&informations oriented home screen replacement

[APP][2.2+][WIP] SwipeScreen - gestures&informations oriented home screen replacement
SwipeScreen is a home screen replacement which gathers all information services on the one screen and allows you to quick access to the last informations that your device got.
A few years ago there was SlideScreen project which is my inspiration, however it's only a base. I am going to release SwipeScreen with many more features.
SwipeScreen features:
SwipeScreen will provides a few services that gather data:
SMS
Missed Calls
Calendar
Facebook
E-mail
Twitter
Google Tasks
Instagram
...
Every service will be a standalone plugin that you can install from Google Play (expect basic ones that will be delivered with an application). There will be released SwipeScreen Plugin API which allows to the others creating new plugins.
Screen will be divided into sections (every section is an individual plugin). Section will contains items which will be new SMS messages, Twitter/Facebook messages, etc. Sections will be marked with unique color to distinguish its type. Between sections there will be main center bar with additional informations:
clock
weather
date
battery
network connection
...
And now something about swiping.
Every item will handle 4 gestures:
swipe left
swipe right
press
long press
Let me explain it on MissedCalls plugin - this plugin will display informations with contact's name and date of missed call. We can interact with this call information in 4 ways:
swipe left - make a call
swipe right - dismiss call (mark as read)
press - go to call details
long press - remove call from calls history
On the right of every section will be visible section's icon which will handle two events - press and long press. With press we go into default application and with long press we mark all items as read.
Center bar will also handles above gestures.
press - go into clock alarm
long press - open Android preferences
swipe left - changes center bar to quick launch section with 4 user's predefined applications' icons. Swipe right will allow to go back to the center bar
swipe right - moves to the another screen - just as in every standard home screens
Another features:
plugins can be reordered
sections' colors will be delivered as a few sets
every plugin can has its own preferences screen delivered by developer
plugin has to have defined icon in SVG format
plugins will be available in Google Play
SwipeScreen Plugin API allows to define gestures handling
...
Project page
Google Play
In a 2-3 weeks I will release first alpha version and some bugtracker for bugs reports and your new ideas. However I will be pleased if you will post some feedback - what you think about SwipeScreen ?

This sounds like a great minimalistic and practical idea. Would be nice if you can post some graphical templates too, like an overview to give us some general idea about how it would look. Good luck with this and looking forward for it.

Looks like a pretty nice start, although I don't like an app hiding my status bar.
The plus buttons for income and expense look the same. I think in the current UI expense should have the right part of the + red and income should have the left part red, to differentaite them.
Also, kinda crashes when turning my phone to the side, screen keeps going on and off with the blue-ish tutorial circle.
Also, actually crashes when makingadvanced reports

Oh, i dont know that Holo apps execute without menu button. You can use sliding menu to show its options but some functions like change user or input transactions from template cant be opened without menu button.
All Holo apps have the 3 dot overflow button if your device doesn't have menu.

Very nice app, thanks for this.
Can you please add exact HTC contacts widget style please?
Sent from my Micromax A116 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
Hi,
Is this app is useful
if yes then elaborate properly.
Hi.
Nice job on the app; it's what I was really hoping to find in a contacts widget.
Think I found a spelling error: have a 1x1 widget, on press opens the fly-out buttons (txt, call, fb, etc.) - click on the gear button for settings, first check box is "Onli Wi-Fi" option, should be "Only".
Question: is there anyway to make the Widget Style scale to a launcher's col/row size? I'm seeing some clipping on the different styles; I'm not sure if that's the launcher or the contact app, maybe someone can verify for me?
I use KK Launcher and I have my desktop grid size set to 5x5. When I add a contact widget 1x1, and select the widget style as the circle, the left and right sides of the circle are sliced off. So the newly created circle-contact-widget is now curved on the top, curved on the bottom, and straight lines on left and right. In order to make it appear correctly, I have to resize it to a 2x wide; this shows the whole circle, but adds about 2cm of dead transparent space on the left and right of the icon. If I select the style square but curved edges, I see what looks like a square, but the sides are sliced off again, so the curved-square icon just looks like a squashed icon.
Free Call for Viber
Hi! Great app! However the app crashes when I try to add / make a free call through Viber. Free Message / Chat through Viber is fine however. Could you make a fix for this? Thanks for the hard work!

Using Tasks in MIUI 12

The notes app on MIUI has been a very useful and feature-rich note-taking app for past versions of the Xiaomi software. With the new MIUI 12 update, the notes app is now better than ever. A new section that is dedicated to tasks has been added. It is designed implement your to-do list into your daily activities. If you're the type of person that keeps lists to track your daily agenda, tasks are going to be your new best friend. In this thread, I'm going to walk you through all of the new aspects of the notes app, and show you some of the task features in action. I am running MIUI 12 on my Xiaomi Mi 9T.
Notes App
App name: Notes
App Version: 2.1.7
APK name: com.miui.notes
The MIUI notes app is one of the better note-tracking apps available for Android. The simplistic design strikes a nice balance between features and functionality. As someone who uses notes every single day for work, I have used many different note apps. I have found that so many apps go overboard with the features, and end up creating a bloated unusable app. With the MIUI 12 notes app, you have only the features that you need, without any boated extras.
When creating a new note, you'll have the option to include the following content:
Voice note
Image
Checklist
Custom Background
Text formatting
All of these features can be used together on the same note. It's a very quick process, which is important for note-taking. The less time I spend making notes, the better. I tend to make detailed text notes, often using checklists and images. The notes app is very good at making this a quick and easy process. The image below shows what my typical notes will look like when using the MIUI notes app.

"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",

}
You can choose between a grid view or a list view, to preview your notes. The grid view gives you a bit more detail in your previews, which is why I tend to stick with this. However, if my notes pile up, I'll switch to the list view so that I can see more notes on my screen.
Tasks
The new exciting feature in the MIUI 12 update is the tasks section. At the top of the notes app you'll notice an icon that features a checkmark inside of a square. This is where the tasks are located. While notes are more focused on keeping details of things you need to do, tasks are focused on making sure you complete them.
When creating a task you can type out the item description. If you select return, your task will turn into a list of subtasks and it will appear as a checklist. Once you've added all of your details, you can select a reminder. This will alert you at a specific time about the task you need to complete. This is what sets it apart from notes. It's the ability to schedule your tasks and be reminded about them.
Tasks are more barebones than notes, as they only allow text and voice tasks. So I can reviece a reminder that says "Video due today" at which point I'll pull up my notes, to see the more detail content. Notes and tasks work so well together to help you track your daily agenda.
Home screen shortcut
Another aspect of the new tasks feature is the ability to add a shortcut to your homescreen. If all of your tasks are tucked away in another section of a notes app, it can be frustrating to navigate several steps before seeing your tasks for the day. This solution puts your tasks right on your home screen. All you have to do is swipe the tasks shortcut open to see your list. To activate the shortcut, toggle "Use task toolbox" in the notes app settings.
This animation shows the shortcut in use, from the home screen.
As you can see from the animation, the shortcut is non-intrusive. Instead of showing up as another icon, it's a simple drawer tucked away on the left of your screen. By default, your task reminders will be muted when your phone is set to silent. You can change this in the notes app settings by toggling "Ignore Silent mode". When this option is toggled, your task reminders will always have a notification sound, even when the phone is set to silent.
Sync with Xiaomi Cloud
Cloud sync will add your notes to the Xiamoi Cloud, which makes them accessible from other devices signed into your Xiamoi account. If you're on a computer, you'll be able to access and manage your notes from your Xiamoi cloud account via your browser.
So if you've got the MIUI 12 update on your Xiaomi phone, try the new tasks. I've found that they are a great way of keeping track of my daily work.
You say you can sync the Notes app but do not mention the Tasks. How do you sync the tasks as well? I can't find a way to do it.
