Heres a framework I made/threw together, Full theme GETTING CLOSER
V 1.0 now up !
!!!!!! you must already have a modified services.jar file !!!!!!!! If you changed your notification bar using teenfaces method you will be fine. This has not been tested on any FULL THEME! I.E. nextheme or 928
!!!!!! By downloading this file you agree to take full responsibility for your actions, I am not responsible if you do something wrong.
This framework has a better looking battery with percentages I couldnt stand not having that. Plus clear tabs on the lock screen, original android smilies, and tons of other stuff colored, just way too much to name
Make a backup of your original framework with root explorer if you have it.
or download it here.. DO IT!

Throw it on your sdcard
Open terminal emulator

mount -o rw,remount -t ext3 /dev/block/mmcblk1p21 /system
cp /sdcard/framework-res.apk /system/framework
**** phone will auto reboot

This bricked my phone. I had the teenfaces alteration already applied, as well.
what else have you changed on your phone, this was based off teenfaces. And as you can see works fine on my phone, and fine on a friends X. Did your phone have the .604 update?
Brick or boot loop?
Just double checked every image in the apk, everything is correct. 8 people have downloaded this already, no one else reporting issues.... Who else grabbed it and has it working?
I didn't mean to put you on the defensive, it was just my experience, that's all. It was bricked, not boot looped. Nothing an .sbf couldn't fix. I had applied the original teenfaces framework when it first came out. I definitely messed with a ton of things on the phone, changing out swype, theming the blur home, etc. I'm not terribly knowledgeable about it, but my best guess would be my already themed blurhome didn't play well with yours. I use launcherpro, so I honestly forgot that I'd even themed blur. I just did because I could lol. Obviously I hope it works well for everyone else, I downloaded it in the first place because it looked sweet! Did anyone else who downloaded have a themed blurhome already? Methinks that's probably why it didn't play.
edit: I had the .604 update as well
Your themed blur, WOW you got guts. Hope you started that after the sbf was out
Whos guide did you end up using?
Now that your good with an sbf, would you mind reinstalling this and verify working?
Gotta admit you freaked me out for a sec, didnt mean to sound defensive though. I figured it had to be a clash with something else. I think I will wait till version 0.2 is done though... just might be tonight. This THEME is heavy
80-90% of all images changed.
**** NOTE TO EVERYONE*****
Might want to revert back to stock before installing if you have done major mods.
V0.2 UP now. Way to many goodies to list, screen shots for a tease...
Of course it was after the .sbf, I don't have that kind of guts lol. I had just grabbed a themed blur and pushed it with terminal. When I get home tonight I'll give this a whirl and let you know how it goes, it looks awesome!
Sent from my DROIDX using XDA App
V 0.1 up now, more than 50% of the icons changed. To bad you only see less than 20 of the actual icons in the framework. Still super sweet though, check the screenies.
I pushed this to my phone how I always have a couple times just to verify its good. If you have another theme installed, it might be a good idea to install the plain X framework then push mine.
Im working hard to get the full theme. (settings/framework/music/gallery/maps/phone/etc)

EDIT: it seems as if a lot of people are having problems with this. about half the people get it working, and half don't. i recommend that you test out Launcher2 first before setting it as your home launcher. I'll try and see what's going on and why it doesn't work right. for now, though, pushing the libs is confirmed to make lwps like the nexusmod on helix.
EASIER WAY: USE RECOVERY TO FLASH THE SIGNED ZIP ATTACHED ON BOTTOM.
okay, so konikub posted the market app that gets the nexus launcher working on our ROMs, but it seemed a bit slow and the app drawer wasn't very intuitive for me, as i had to press the back key and everything for it to work. so, i found out a way to get the REAL nexus one Launcher2.apk to work on DamageControl v1, but i haven't test on fresh 2.0b2 or anything else.
the main two files that are needed to get the launcher2.apk to work seem to be libRS.so and librs_jni.so
since i used waffle 2.1 as my first ROM and the nexus launcher worked, albeit unstable at times, i looked there first. when compared with DamageControl, the necessary libs are missing.
so, the libs that i'm posting are taken straight from bikcmp's Waffle 2.1 ROM.
it's a pretty simple procedure, since you're just placing the libs in the right folder
step 1: extract the libRS.so and librs_jni.so to a folder where you know the location
step 2: push the files to /system/lib
Code:
adb remount
adb push <location of libRS.so> /system/lib
adb push <location of librs_jni.so> /system/lib
adb reboot
step 3: install launcher2.apk
Code:
adb remount
adb push <location of Launcher2.apk> /system/app
adb reboot
and then it works!
so far, it's been stable for me after a few reboots, and i don't get any force closes like i did when i used it on bikcmp's waffle ROM.
any problems, just pm me or post a reply.
if things don't work on the first try, like your bootscreen just keeps on going and going, just reboot your phone. after i set it to my default homescreen and rebooted, my bootscreen kept going on and on and on, even though the lockscreen and whatever else was definitely loaded. i'm not using the htc lockscreen, so i knew where the unlock button was, and when i touched there, it vibrated. i could 'unlock' the phone but it stayed at the bootscreen.
so when in doubt, just reboot
see below for all three files. i put it all into one zip for convenience.
enjoy!
EDIT: oh, and live wallpapers DO work. i've tested some from the market, but it seems as if (AGAIN) it's the nexusmod one that doesn't play nice and freezes your phone but i do recommend the Substrate (search Substrate in market) lwp, they're pretty fancy and they look nice too! performance isn't too bad either
Konikub requested a flashable zip for this. it's in post #5, but for those who are too lazy to scroll down, i'll post it here too
naturally, its named launcher2-signed.zip
UPDATE: i just tested this, but JIT works if you use this launcher! just follow these instructions: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=637419
when i first installed it, though, my bootscreen just stayed and kept going for a good ten minutes. for some reason, the lockscreen still 'worked', as in you could unlock the phone underneath but it'd still display the boot animation. i just pressed the SEND+END+MENU button combo to reboot the phone, and it worked! if you get a few FCs at first, just make sure you press the 'Force Close' option. if you reboot again, it should work.
there's always the possibility that it'll screw up your phone(not a brick, i mean like it wont boot, etc.), and if it does, just go to recovery and follow the instructions to restore dalvik w/o JIT (in the link).

well, i guess it's for people using damage's and fresh's rom
This might be pushing it...but I have been with out a computer screen for a few days now (it died), and have been running off my hero since. I have no way to pushfiles to my phone...is there any chance you can package up the launcher2 apk to be flashed, and I will put it on Darchs ROM....?
Thanks either way man!!!!
Question, does this launcher have the 4 shortcuts cause thats bout as slick as have 7 screens and as sliced bread.
konikub: attached!
Tipharet: no, that's only in the helixlauncher app
it's a nice feature, but this is just for those who want the 'real' nexus one feel to it, with the 3d app drawer and the dots on the bottom. otherwise there isn't much of a difference.
though personally, i prefer this to the helixlauncher.
Just curious, does the nexus launcher still have the sense widgets enabled? Say im just trying to take Rosie phone, app, and add button away; all I want is the little square down at the bottom that leads to my app drawer.
This knowledge will also help in development of a custom UI I am wotking on. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Side note: like one of the other posters, I am not familiar with the sdk or changing files through the computer. However, I managed to root my phone, andinstall a custom ROM, all FROM MY PHONE.. Never once did I connect to my PC. Point being, Ive basically cooked my own roms from my phone. I am running DamageV1 and through terminal emulator was able to uninstall the bloatware that came along with it. I have a DamagedPancake LOL. Is it possible to push these files through t.e. or could someone post a update.zip that woulde removie just the RosieBar and leave only the boxlauncher?
Cheers
is there way a to revert back to the default sense ui?
sinistermeshes: unfortunately, you can't keep the sense widgets and not be using sense itself. something about the framework prevents you from being able to access or use HTC widgets if you aren't using sense. i also don't believe you can make the sense bar only be an app drawer. there was a thread starter a few days ago about mapping the buttons to different areas, but it was deemed not possible, or at least probably not going to happen.
the signed zip that i posted here only makes your phone's homescreen look, act, and feel just like what it does on the nexus one homescreen. no htc widgets (i know, i'm sad too =/)
vox: yeah, you can go to appliations and clear defaults. but the best way is to go to the market and install Home switcher. its very useful when dealing with homescreens and all.
works 100% perfectly, thanks OP.
personally, i started liking the helix launcher better than nexus, it allows only 2 screens, and you can put icons on the bottom. and, after pushing the libs, the nexus MOD wallpaper in market works with helix launcher!
im so happy right now
Really nice work.. All we need now is to remove the black notifcations bar and replace it with the white one and we can have a AOSP-Like rom
Just did this from my hero and it worked like a charm thanks a million for the signed zip I freaking love the nexus launcher and its really smooth
i cant seem to get the nexusmod lwp to work.. i downloaded it but i dont know how to set it.
i don't think the nexusmod lwp works if you use the launcher that's included.
but, if you use helixlauncher, it does work.
but first, you have to manually push LiveWallpapersPicker.apk and LiveWallpapers.apk to /system/app. they're posted on another thread, i believe.
i got it now i had to flash livewallpapaerpicker.apk

I tried running it with hexilauncher and it just froze my phone...
justin, thanks for the lib file find. got the "modded Nexus" working with helix. I think I am going to stick with that just for the 7 screens but great find man.
NexusMod only works with helix. but its a bit laggy. if you use it on any other homescreen like nexuslauncher or home it just crashes.
Do we still have to push the lib files even with the zipped file that you provided... I nay have to wait toll I get home then
anyone gotten live wallpapers working??? i downloaded several and they are not in the wallpapers...
I don't really know where to post this. I tried searching but there doesn't seem to be any info on this. I'm running Damage 2.08 which originally came w/ the stock black notification bar. However, after flashing that ROM, one of the first things I did was flash a white bar. This was months ago so I can't restore that version from nandroid, it would obviously kill everything on my phone now.
So what I'm looking for is basically a way to remove the white bar that I flashed or a .zip that has the stock black bar that I can flash over the white one.
Thanks,

Just flash the rom zip over it again without wiping. It will basically reset the visual tweaks (including the black bar) without affecting your settings.

For some reason it doesn't work. It hangs on the black HTC screen. That's right after I turn it on. Whenever I see someone's phone hang it's on the white screen - mine doesn't even get that far.
1. Does my A2SD have anything to do w/ it?
2. I tried black themes through Metamorph (old .jar version and new .xml version) and neither work. Both make the phone hang on the black screen.
3. I also have close to 100 apps installed - could that be part of the problem?
I appreciate any help!
I hope you did Nandroid before you made change? If yes, restore from Nandroid. To change back to the stock Black you just need to replace the PNG files in Framwork-Res.apk and push back to the phone.

Yes, I already restored from Nan. As far as pushing the stock PNG: that'll leave me with a black bar, yes, but also I'll have a black clock, wouldn't I?
Thanks

Try wiping dalvik-cache before reinstalling 2.08, then let it try to boot for 20 min. There might be a conflict that it can't sort through now. That, or just try upgrading to the most recent version of DC (2.09.01), that should reset the visuals too.
In truth, back when I was running Damage I had the same problems (with the hang on black htc screen after every mod ... upgrade to 2.09, metamorph, etc.). I just ended up moving on, and found many roms to be much more stable and expansive in terms of options. If you love Sense, then check out nfinitefx or ZenHeroFX; if you can handle moving to AOSP (for the sake of a HUGE boost in speed), then check out buufed or the CM6 nightlies. DC 2.08 worked very well for when it came out, but there is much bigger and better, so you might wanna consider an upgrade .
Either way, good luck man.

Thank you for the advice my good man! I actually seriously considered running Sense-less (lol) but I kind of like the Facebook/Contacts integration and the nicer camera... I'll give it another go - I never use the Sense Home, I use LauncherPro, so I know I WON'T be missing that..!
HOWEVER
Here would be my 1st question if I decide on AOSP: How do I make the notification bar black like in Sense?!
Although perhaps I could get Metamorph to work properly or that "services.jar" mod where you can change the color might actually work...
I'll give it a go probably tomorrow but if you have any more insight, I'd appreciate it!
Thanks

As far as the black notification bar goes, I'm running froyo with the blackmod theme, although there is one for darchdroid as well. It includes a themed black bar (as well as a ton of other sick theming features). The camera thing I cant help out on, but the new version of"facebook for android" in the market syncs contacts very well (better than my wifes with facebook sense). Another heads up, if you can find fancy widget on the forums, it looks just like the clock/weather widget everyone knows.
Hope this helps.

OK, I've run into a brick wall. I nan'd just in case (good thing). I wiped my phone. I wiped dalvik chache. I flashed 4 different ROMs because NONE of them load. I gave them all 30 mins of boot-up time. They all go past the black HTC screen, then continue on to the white HTC screen (good sign), then to the logo screen (better sign). However, all the ROMs, after about 20-30 minutes just go into the loop of white HTC screen to logo screen and it just loops.
The ONLY way to get the ROM to load is to remove the SD card. BUT All my apps are on the card. Do I have to wipe the ext partition too? If so, I'm puzzled by A2SD - I thought the whole purpose was to never have to reinstall your apps. So apparently, A2SD seems to be causing this...
You do have to wipe your ext partirion. A2SD is only to save space on the internal memory.

I have tried numerous metamorph themes modifying the framework-res.apk, and they seem to apply just fine (metamorph gives me a "succesfully applied" notification). The thing is, once I reboot, nothing changes . I was working on modifying the lockscreen, and everything applied well, but it didn't show a difference. I figured I must have messed something up, so I applied another person's lockscreen mod and it acted in the exact same way. This is really frusturating me cause I have been working on different solutions for the past 2 hours, and nothing seems to be working.
I am using GB 2.3 (latest release), and do have a different theme applied using theme chooser, but as far as I am aware, it has no affect on the lockscreen files. If anyone has any ideas, that would be great!
Thanks in advance!

There's 5 versions of GB, which ROM do you have? And if you are using a theme it's important to know which one. Also, maybe throw some links up to the actual morphs you're using. Also, what exactly are you trying to do? Like what's the morph changing specifically. I mod my frameworkres.apk and SystemUI.apk manually with every flashover, (using aospCMod 3/26 and "androidian" from theme chooser) so *maybe* I can help.
I am using the rom on this page
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=864403
(AOSP 2.3.3 / CM7 (Gingerbread) [03/26/2011]).
I am using this "theme chooser" theme (Honeycomb Hero)
(http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=965216) (the one for CM7, obviously)
I tried to apply this lockscreen theme (MDPI version)
since it was targeting the same thing that I was working on; this was my test to see if it was my theme that was messed up, or if it was something else.
I am wanting to simply change the green unlock icon that you slide to unlock your phone, which is located in:
framework-res/res/drawable-land-mdpi
Hope this helps; thanks again.
I've used the lockscreen morph you're trying to apply on the same Rom a couple versions ago... I forgot which one but after reading some posts in the thread when I tried it on later versions it just didn't work because the framework has changed (i think) cuz it didn't work for me either. So you would probably have to post your framework in that thread & ask the op to make the new morph for you to work. I don't think its user error or anything like that. Hope that helps ...I really liked that lockscreen when it still worked on like 3/18 or somethin

**UPDATED** I have decided to upload the theme in its present state(so people may enjoy it while I work on it more). Simply flash the Matrix.zip in CWM, to get rid of it, reflash your rom.zip. I have tested this theme using Infused 1.50 /w Infusion 1.8 and found no usability, stability, or readability problems. As always flash at your own risk.**UPDATED**
Matrix 0.5 Theme for flashing in CWM
In it's present state, the notification bar is partially themed, the dark, and grey popups are rethemed 100%, the system font is tweaked, the bootanimation is changed, download bar, volume bar, new emoticons, "rudolph" style window animations. It is basically 30-45% done, the hard work of hand editing the framework is where the rest of the progress will take place.
This theme is a simple UOT Kitchen file(incomplete theme), but I plan on completing this over the next 6 weeks (preparing for overseas travel right now) and making it into a total theme package that will be a cwm zip.
Theme concept: Solid black background, bright green text and icons, muted green for secondary colors, and inactive text/notifications. Some light theming will be along the lines of the matrix (bootanimation, wallpaper) This would provide battery savings by eliminating white backgrounds where possible, as well as increased contrast.
I am learning how to theme using the resources here on XDA, and can complete this project in my own time on my own, but with additional help the time could be greatly reduced.
I will not be waiting for gingerbread as I need to hone my theme making skills while waiting for it's release. My skills are still growing but I am comfortable editing the framework xml and images. Let me know if you want to help.
**Important Note**For whatever reason, you will manually have to copy bootanimation.zip into system/media for it to function. Also, your ROM must support it.
Download Matrix.zip
go for it dude, id def use your theme. i messed around with uot for a few days & was thinkn about going matrix stlye, but im sure yours will be much more impressive, as i have no theming experience watsoever. i think its pretty cool you offered this...

Thanks to above for the downloads, I'm glad your enjoying it. If you like the theme now, just wait until I get more elements themed. The blasted white clock might be a long time coming, but I would rather have it there than remove it to spite it's color. Please be patient for updates, right now I work full time, I own a house by myself, go to college, and presently I am getting ready for my first overseas trip ever in 2 weeks(that's not mentioning the girlfriend or the garden).
I fully respect all the hard work our devs put into the ROMs and esp the Kernel work going on right now, but I just won't put that much time in yet.
My goal is to have this theme as complete as Matted Blues, with significant progress within 6 weeks, most of it towards the end of that time frame.
If anybody who is using this theme has comments or suggestions, I will take them into consideration, as I posted above I would also love to work with a more experienced themer, if anybody likes the direction this is headed.
tried installing, got stuck at installing no update, with no action on the installation bar. i noticed on matted blues he says its for infused rom(s), is this also the case? will this not install on refuse?

i'm stuck in the installing "update" no movement in the progress bar. been there for about 5 minutes. ideas?
byuboy87 seems to have had the same problem, and then have fixed it himself.
It appears you are coming from Infused. This should load fine by rebooting into recovery, install zip from sd card, choose zip, matrix.zip, confirm, then reboot.
Did you by chance try running update.zip instead of matrix.zip?
Please post whatever information pertinent to the problem you can, I would like to track down where people are having problems installing the theme so I can streamline the process and eliminate problems in my next version.
Just installed and liking so far. One thing did notice...in the pull down notifications when using Andchat i can not read the connection status only the errors. Think the connection status is black on black. Not a big deal but wanted to point it out. Great work by the way.

lol id hate to insult your intelligence by telling you the obvious, so if i am wrong i apologize. i had this problem & it was bcuz i was mistakenly trying to flash bootanimation.zip...stupid... slightly confusing at first, bcuz the .zip downloads are in two diff locations. make sure you actually download matrix.zip lol

any chance this will be reworked to work with infused 2.0(GB)? love all the top icons in the notification bar all green. only thing i would like to change is to have the 5 green bar(strength) but not a big deal.
I tried my best to debloat GOV3 as much as possible. But even now, I'm getting PM's from some people who wish to get some old apps back into the GOV3. My answer as a whole to add it into GOV3 is a no, because I want people to experience the fastest, yet smallest I could manage (please understand where I'm coming from). However, the requests vary from TouchWiz Calendar, the old stock SMS app, and some others.
My advice to you guys (I don't want to leave you in the dark here hence why I'm making this post) is to simply download both GOV2 and GOV3.3 and drag'n'drop the .apks you want from GOV2's /system/app/ folder to GOV3.3's /system/app/ folder.
If you need help doing this, let me know. I know it's simple, but some don't even know what WinRAR is.
All the best,
TLS.
I <3<3<3 GOV2! When I was "ROM shopping" the one I really loved the looks of was nowhere to be found [older version of one and the newer version had an unappealing color scheme - I realize that is vain and petty] but the option to control the screen brightness by rubbing the status bar was intriguing [and worked beautifully, thanks to whoever programed that nugget] and I really loved the overall improvement in the phone. Not a fan of Launcher Pro but that was easily remedied...
In GOV2 I've already snipped out what I didn't want, swapped launchers, and dropped in the other stuff I wanted but I cannot figure out how to put back the Samsung keypad... I really missed the T9 layout [lame, I know]. I looked through the lib and usr directories, but it looked like everything was there but the apk... yet when dropped in, no love. Was my problem that it hadn't been dropped in prior to flashing? I just had to exchange my SK I now get to redo this whole process [yippee skippee] so I could try it that way... I am going to feel slightly dumb if that is the source of my problems...
Also, I noticed a thread about a kernel which removed the keylogger from the SK [and only flahsing it on a KJ2 blahblahblah]... the kernel under GOV2 [or 3] also strips the keylogger or no? Just curious.
I will be reflashing soon [possibly tomorrow if I cannot wait till Friday evening when I have actual free time] as I just cannot take the stock ROM for much longer [it has only been since Monday night]... today it crashed so hard that it couldn't reboot... it just did the 2 vibrate again and again and again until I finally took pity on it and held the buttons so it would reboot. Poor feble thing... lol.
