Anyone with CM6 (nightly, or RC1) using the super circle battery indicator? - EVO 4G Themes and Apps

From this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=724778
I tried the nightly one, and ran into a boot loop of the cyanogen boot screen. If anyone is using it on their evo, let me know which one you installed, or how you got it to work. Thanks.

Um, by a long day of trial and error...i got it to work, HOWEVER, i had to DECOMPILE the framework-res.apk. Its....tedious.
once i get an un-bcispcpro-modified version created within like 10 mins hopefully, ill post an update.zip.
OK. Ive built them. These both flashed successfully (and worked) on my phone.. I yanked the framework from the available RC1 download and used that. It has no modifications of mine whatsoever other than the battery. So if you have any custom icons or anything, youll have to replace them in the apk.
Heres a screenshot of mine. Keep in mind MY phone is extensively customized. But your battery icon will look like whats in the thread.

I take no responsibility for you bricking your phone. Even if you flash these and they dont work, youll of course have a nandroid backup readily available
Let me know how it goes!

he did good. anything using the framework for rc1 WILL NOT WORK with the nightlys. thats why we have to keep rebuilding framework to keep themes up to date with nightlys.

ah damn. well it at least works with RC1. i cant commit to rebuilding it every night..cant say id be reliable because i dont always have the time.
if you want to give it a try, you can decompile the frameworks using APK Manager. Youd have to DECOMPILE both the nightly framework and original and copy the battery XMLs and pngs to the nightly, then recompile and flash.
From the Battery thread:
For the other Phones
The mod can work on all android phone but you need to decompile one of the zip files in order to take 3 xml files (stat_sys_battery.xml, stat_sys_battery_charge.xml & zzz_stat_sys_battery_1.xml) and to take also all the battery icons.
I just want to be clear for all people who don't have the Desire that I am not going to make hundred other zip files for all phones except the Desire because it need a lot of work.
Also, I don't want to waste my time to go on every subforum of each phone in order to make and to update a thread like the one here.
If you want to use the mod in your ROM for an other phone, you have to decompile (not unzipping) the apk.
You should download the excellent tool and easy to use:
APK Manager => http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=695701
There is also a video tutorial in this thread
You have just to follow the instructions.
Thanks for understanding.

I am with you on decompiling the nightly frame work, but not sure what you mean by decompiling the original.

by original i meant one of the frameworks presented in the battery thread ... I used the three XMLs from framework-res-CM_6.0_RC1-signed.zip (link to posting, not zip file) for the zips i posted. I imagine you could use the RC1 battery XMLs, as long as theyre recompiled in the nightly framework.

wow .. this is beautiful.. i'm a noob to android, but will this work with Fresh 3.1? I've been looking for a numeric battery indicator for some time now.

I was using the htc sense version on the stock rooted 2.2 rom, and it worked great. Just do a nandroid, and flash the zip. The worst that can happen is you get a boot loop, and you have to restore your nandroid.

yeah the ones from this thread will NOT work with fresh.. at least i think.. go to the link posted by the OP.

Here is my own personal modified circle battery that works with the CM6 nightlies. I have been flashing it on my phone for the past few days with no issues. This modification assumes you are using the black taskbar. I'm not sure how it will look with the white one. You must use Metamorph to install it.

I actually found those instructions earlier today. I got as far as adding the .xmls from the decompiled themed .apk to my decompiled stock 2.2 framework-res.apk but I kept getting an error when the compiler got to the manifest..
this is an awesome mod btw

While this may be a dumb question, I just want to verify;
I don't need to flash anything special for the black taskbar, correct? It's just go into CyanogenMod Settings, and User Interface, Notifications Clors, and check the Custom Notification bar, and make sure black is the color in the color wheel, correct? I know I need to reboot after making changes to the task bar.
Also, are you on the most recent nightly?

[Theme] SkyRaider 4.3 Blue V2.8 08/28/2011

I have put together a new Dark Blue theme for SR 4.3. It is optimized and zipaligned. I have themed alot more of this myself as I am getting better with themeing. I have done all of the XML edits. If you like my theme then please hit the thanks button and buy me a soda.
I want to thank the following people and give them credit.
fernando-sor for help in teaching me about xml edits and some of the pngs and alot of the apk's. I used the ones from his Viva Azul blue theme.
iaccax for alot of the pngs. I took them from his Insomnia Nights EVO 4.0 Theme
chingy51o for some of the png's
pendo for his marketplace
ihtfp69 for his awesome ROM
riptide for some of the png's
spence341 for finding my last elusive green png file.
N-Forced for the help with the dialer xml edits.
Stoney 666 for the GB keyboard and clock images
ecsnead69 for all his help with the smali edits on the new marketplace and I used his blacked out Gmail.
B-boy for help with some xml edits that I could not find on the new marketplace
yojoe600 for the 6bar classes.dex
If I have missed anyone else let me know and I will give you credit.
Issues: For some reason the SkyRaider Sense crashes from time to time. Trying to figure out why it does it. If anyone can figure it out I would appreciate it

08/28/2011: V2.8 This is the final version of this theme. I will put out another one when 5.0 drops but I think I might change the color of blue. In this version I have included the newest version of Gmail and the Marketplace. I used B-Boy's Market and just did the xml edits and used my blue png's. I used Fernando-Sor's inverted blue gmail. I have also changed the icons in the settings.apk file. Hope you enjoy it.
08/21/2011: V2.7 I have fixed the FC issue.
08/19/2011: V2.6.1 I forgot to include the 6 bar png's I have them added now.
08/01/2011: V2.6 I have added all of the updates that I have done into one theme. I have signed, zipaligned, and optimized the entire theme. I still have the issue with Rosie FC'ing from time to time. I cannot get anyone to help me fix it.
07/30/2011: Updated Gmail look down below
07/22/2011: Added a MM theme that will give you a 6 signal bar. After you apply it via MM it will take it a long time to boot up. Thanks to yojoe600 for the classes.dex
07/17/2011: Themed the new 3.0.26 market place.
07/10/2011: V2.4 Themed more various png files. Rethemed the keyboard to match the Theme. All the addon's that I had for 2.3 have been added to 2.4
07/02/2011: V2.3 I forgot some of the Rosie apk files. I have them added. You can downlod the full Theme or just the Rosie.
07/01/2011: V2.2 updated it to SR 4.2
To install:
1. Make a Nand Backup First!!!
2. Download theme and save it to your SDCard
3. Install via ROM Manager or Recovery.
4. Wipe Dalvik Cache
5. First boot does take some time.

Thanks, but all I did was put the theme together using other people's .png files. All credit goes to them. I have them listed in the OP. I did do some of the theming...the wireless signal and the lock screen's I themed myself other than that I used other people's work.
I tried to install this ontop of skyraider 3.3.3 by saving it on my sd card and using rom manager. That didn't work. What is the best way to apply this theme. It looks very nice.

You need to have the Uncommon addon for this to work. You can flash it via ROM Manager or via recovery.
Man i just hate to ask this because it gives me a newbie complex
been modding phones for almost 7 years but just kicked Windows Mobile (but ALL HTCs cause i like them for some reason) and went Android.. but i'm sometimes more confused because I have enough knowledge to brick my phone in a heartbeat, but not enough to sometime do the easy stuff so all that said... how do I apply this theme... do i need Uncommon SkyRaider? or use a recovery manager to apply it?

No worries. I am ecstatic you took the time to do what you did. Now, if we can get the xml edits needed to change the green progress bars (volume, sliders, etc) all will be well with the world. SkyRaider SHOULD be blue IMO. Fantastic work so far... from EVERYONE.
This looks awesome. Couple questions. Can this be ported to straight uncommon sense? Can the bar at the top be made clear like in riptide9?

Yes I think you can use it on his ROM. I am using his framework.res, com.htc.resources and Rosie. I have not tried it. Not sure about the bar at the top. I am only using some .png files from Riptide9's ROM.
I try it out on uncommon and report back.

More Batteries for status bar

It seems that a lot of people like my battery icons, every time I post a screen shot somewhere someone always asks "what battery is that?"
So...
These are MetaMorph themes and they work with the latest Sense builds. Your ROM must already have the battery percent on your ROM already for these to work.
NOTE: These have been tested on the following ROMs:
Skyraider 3.0 and above
Wes342's Super-Z
Nils Business_Sense_Desire-Z
I will do some more research and find out what other ROMs are compatable.
The ROMs above use a folder in the framework named "drawable-hdpi" some of the other ROMs use a folder named"drawable-hdpi-v4"
I am currently working on these for the Virtuous 3.1.0 Rom.
I can't express enough how important it is to do a nand backup first, you are modifying system files! Be forewarned, I can not be held responsible for anything that goes wrong.
I have had hit and miss luck with MetaMorph, sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. I have had a couple of occasions where it has locked up my phone and I have had to restore from a backup.
Alternative method:
If you are familiar with modifying framework files you can also modify your framework-res.apk file and use adb to push it back to your phone.

Hopefully you done a backup first.
I done some research and Virtuous Rom has a different framework than Skyraider 3.5 and SuperZ ROMs.
It looks like I should have done some more research before posting these.
Restore from your backup and then try this file for the WIFI, it should work for you.
LINK
Let me know if it works and I will make the battery files compatable with your ROM as well.
I will edit the original post.
Well I got it to work using ninjamorph by manually inserting the wifi pngs into the framework.apk. What I noticed about the battery pack is that your script isn.t inserting the png's into the right folder. The icons look great though good work.

You have in your instructions that they work for Sense roms but I just installed the Red mod. battery on CM6.1 so like you said metamorph is funny like that.
I can't get the wifi one to work.. running Uber Z sense rom..
Different ROMs use different framework structure.
I just checked the UberZ ROM and here is what you need to do to make it work.
Go to the theme folder and rename the "drawable-hdpi" folder to "drawable-hdpi-v4"
Then it should work.

this is based off the newest aospGBmod posted early this morning i will likely be making new versions of this till he posts a deodex'd version:
This is a Full ROM (not just an Update or Theme)
-you MUST do a clean install (since the build is odex'd failure to do a complete wipe will cause problems)
features,
- twopointthree theme (minus the themed desk clock the stock ones still works though)
- a lot of bloat removed
-stock launcher2
-notification tray toggle switches are removed
-added back the stock (themed) music.apk
things i have taken out
-pacman.apk (used for installing commonly downloaded items from the market on the markets first use)
-livewallpaperpicker - i dont use live wallpapers so it just took up space for me (i will likely make a flashable zip to put them back in for people who want them)
-adwlauncher (the market one is better atm anyway)
-cm wallpapers
-home screen tips
-probably a few other things
download here

Ok, I can't download it stupid 4shared keeps quiting download right away and I only get 100KB of it... Anyone else having problems? I'm doing this on a computer not my phone (which gives me the same damn problems)
updated the first post, now that i have a ROM to build off of i should be able to RLS mostly updates for a while.
in order to use the update, starting from scratch
-nandroid
-install the ROM
-install your Gapps
-boot go through startup wizard (or just boot up if not using the wizard)
-then flash the update
if already using the ROM
-make a nandroid
-flash the update
enjoy guys! its bed time for me again
Please, I wouldn't normally ask this, but could you re-upload to somewhere besides 4shared? I cant download the ROM.

the signal bars are in the systemUI folder
the volume up and down are controlled by an xml in the framework-res
since the stock ROM is odex'd you cant just flash this over top of it hence why you cant just have the signal bars, i am getting around it because i have modified the ROM so i can get in and tamper with it without causing an issue
ur good at theming, is everything i need to theme besides apps in the framework folder? or is it just framework.apk an stuff that has .jar have nothing to do with themeing

All these mods are Metamorph themes so you can apply this over any themes and not mess it up. I have Red and Green as of right now. I am making other colors, if you have a request for a color let me know and give me and example pic of the color so i can match it for you. You must have the Battery % mod , 1% increments, on you phone. If you do not have to already have your framework=res.apk ready and go here to get it.
to get your framework-res.apk
With root explorer or Es file manager go to system/framework and grab framework-res.apk and put it on your sdcard
With adb
Code:
adb pull /system/framework/framework-res.apk
1) download metamorph from market
2) place the zip on your sdcard
3) DO A NANDROID BACKUP
4) open metamorph and choose unzip/extract new theme and find the file that
you placed on your sdcard, choose it and let it do its thing
5) press apply theme and let it work
6) reboot phone and enjoy!

Hi roscoenr! I'm running the latest Sprint Lovers ROM, and I like your battery mod. I'm attempting to apply the blue zip following the instructions you provided, but when I apply the MetaMorph, it just seems to hang while updating the framework-res.apk. It has had the little wheel spinning for atleast 20 minutes now. So I'm not quite sure what to do? I'm trying to be patient and wait it out, but should it really take this long?

THEME | PORT | 2.1.0 | 6/5/12 | Matted Blues for CM_Merged [RC1.3a]

EDIT: At a huge problem on this project... Cant edit XML files because APK Manager wont work... it can decompile but it wont recompile anything, even if i do NOTHING to the project. So until the program decides to work, this is pretty much all i can do.
Im proud to present to you: Matted Blues for CM_Merged! And for our Sidekick 4Gs
First things first: ALL Credit goes to jabbawalkee, ReActiveDisorder, and whoever else I missed!

Thats the CM7 Theme Chooser one.
Your going to port the CM7 Theme Chooser one?
If worse comes to worse im gonna have to, but seeing as RubiX is gonna be based off of CM6 (If im not mistaken?), i probably wont even need to use that.
The theme looks sexy as hell.
once the status bar mads are done, if at all possible im all in i hate the tw status bar
I love the theme!Looks pretty cool to me..

Hahah, same here man.
On another note, i got my Thrill that has the CM7 Theme Engine. More icons to port over and whatever. New RC coming out soon.
Hmm... when i edit XML files, when i recompile them they revert back to whatever was on them before... i cant edit anything put the PNGs then. If APK Tool keeps doing this and magically changing files that shouldnt exist, then theres not much i can do.
Have you tried compiling them directly from the command prompt? Apktool used to give me s**t when I would recompile the themed works and I just did it from the cmd prompt ad it would work... other then that I have no other ideas

Naaah, not yet hahah. Gonna try doing that tonight, will post back with results. If it works, i can add the Accurate Battery and fix everything that needs to be doneeeee.
EDIT: No avail, tried everything. When i get off my laptop to my tower ill try everything again. If not, im stumped and this is just about as far as this port goes.
Hoping you can figure it out. Love what you've done so far
I'd love this fixed up too, I use it on CM Merged and it's quite nice, though I'd like a battery mod with better accuracy and a few little tweaks here and there, but overall I like Blue and white much more then Green and black

I'm looking for ways to get around having to decompile the apk, maybe finding already-compiled XMLs from another ROM and replacing those. Hopefully. I find it odd that recompiling gives me errors even if I do nothing to the APK. Do you need the Android SDK installed to use apktool or whatever?

Might need the framework files to decompile and recompile properly. I'm stumped myself honestly

i ran into that i believe
Making progress, it actually compiles an APK now. But for some reason, dosent create a "keep" folder, so when it recompiles i dont even think it does anything to the framework. Still blank battery icons, but I guess im getting somewhere if the APK is actually making itself.
EDIT: Ran into another problem. Now whenever i try to start the APK Multi-Tool script, i get "Please wait while we CHECK FOR UPDATES", then the program closes itself. ....
