I didn't know the whole story until i saw other thread in the forum. I thought he banned forever.

Some people have been asking how long Dinik will be away for. After some deliberation, the ban has been set for 3 days. For someone as active as Dinik this is a long time. Hopefully this ban period will give him some time to reflect on things.

Come on, guys, cool down.
As a guy who watched for months what was and is going on, I can actually fully
understand and support the ban.
And I say this as a guy who initially was happy with Dinik´s work, I even made
a donation. But after "Apple-like" behavior of the "master" himself, I dropped
his theme. Just like I dropped my iPhone.
I hope the others involved are also banned,because he was subject to quite a bit of provocation and bullying....
Yeah, I'm showing support. Maybe only a three day ban, but still letting it be known I support dinik.
I've been in this forums for a hour and I already downloaded everything from him and already respect him for his artwork.
dinik's work is great and we all miss him but this is very disrespectful to the mods who have taken the decision after observing and analysing a situation we don't know about.
oh and i admit i'm not a big fan of "the will of the people" thing...

Not because I'm against banded, (I can understand maybe the Administrators) but I'm not sure this measure will help.
There are 2 important line of history involved in this issue.
First of all the issue between Dinik and DJC (I don't takes part between this two) And I don't think this rivalry between this two people will be solved easily.
Secondly; I know Dinik had had a lot of problems with some peoples and a lot of peoples with Dinik
But way?? I know he have some rules; And personal I don't see the problem in it!? When you ask authorization you get it!!
I mean each time there was a discussion was based on the fact that people don't ask authorization.
I must be honest on two points:
- I'm a logic man, when I see that some peoples are in discussion with Dinik because he don't like that thy don't ask it; I am amazed to see how much post are wright in this discussion who bring us nowhere. Worse moderators must spend a lot of time to clean it up!! So my question was it not more easier to send One PM to ask authorization??? I don't know but fore me it sounds easier.
- I remember me when I send a PM to Dinik fore asking authorization; (And I'm not the only one who have done it) his replay on may question was; "Yes of course, the only thing I ask is place the name of the resource!"
Is This illogical?? I mean even when you Quotes someone, ore a book you mention his name.
But Ok this is my opinion; and maybe I'm old school!
Let be clear, this message is not intended to focuses one ore some peoples. This is only my opinion, and the way I see and explain it.
I don't will like that this message will be used fore a new discussion.
But I live in Belgium, and thil here it's a free country, so I mention only my opinion.

as you can see XDA has MANY developers and don't NEED Dink unless he can obey the rules like everyone else.
I am totally not a fan of Dinik and his way of sharing his works, but I also totally understand him, that DJC is just copying his stuff.
So I think DJC should also get some kind of warning not to copycat stuff, but to give credit where it is due. And that is what dinik only wants.

But closing this thread when people are chairing there opinion isn't a democratic behavior. And that will mean the administrators are against public opinions.
Thil these opinions are polite I don't see a reason of closing.
But I'm agree with you that it is not the place fore this thread, (It's have nothing to see with Themes ore Apps)

Very true and that is done as well, but given that we have already seen the removal of ROMs from this forum as a result of folks like "ass" who act as if it is their right to flash new ROMs and then expect people here to drop what they are doing or go and cry to their providers, I thought perhaps a little public humiliation was in order.
Let's just say that I learned many a lesson that way in my youth although I certainly didn't appreciate it at the time!!!
I have certainly moved on, and will continue to answer questions when and where I can, and continue to point out when people act like asinine jerks.
Please forward any specific incidents of abuse or bad behavious directly the mods. Remember to click the ! button next to a post if it's dodgy, or just send us a link to the post.
The mods have a thread for keeping an eye on bad boys and girls, and will take action if required.
But everyone, please be respectful of fellow users. We all deserve respect; politeness costs nothing.

I recommend you read the sticky at the top of this forum. Then do a search on WM 6.1 roms, there are lots. Then when you understand the process you then flash away. See the links in my sig...they will help get you started as well.
Each person likes different things in ROMS, so it is very subjective. You should have done some research before posting...

I used to love this forum. I now have the hardest time just peeking in.
I have read the multi page thread about what to do about the redundant threads and none of the suggestions have been implemented (except the heavy hammer by Kyphur). alas, with the fact that our phones are now so common, we have more people than ever trying to flash. I miss the days when the XDA was one of only a few devices that people used and you cuold only find 50-60 users online at any given time.
Andrewsitu, you are one of countless junior members who want to start flashing but can't take a few moments to look around. In some ways I can't blame you, since there are SOOO many threads, many pointless and redundant, it can be daunting. But it is a chicken and the egg dilema.
Maybe we need a senior member forum only so that we can actually be productive. This is nuts. I really feel like checking out . . .

Easily handled if the title was bestowed, rather than just automatic. mods could review and either grant or put them in pending status until useful posts actually accounted for the needed 100. Puts more work on the the mods in some ways, but lessens it in others (fewer closed threads). I'd also have any new thread from anyone with less than 50 posts approved for non-redundancy by the mods.
I just really miss this place and I just seem to get more and more frustrated everytime I log in. And in some ways I can't blame the NooBs, because if aI saw all these threads I'd be spinning and wanting to just take the easy way out. It would be nice to have a senior member lounge or something . . .

Personally, I'd recommend looking through the "Kaiser Upgrading" forum for all ROM releases with "WM6.1" in the title. Then look at the list the Chef's provided of what's in the ROM and think "Do I use all those things?", then look again and think "Have I got installation cabs for the others I use that aren't there?". If the answer is "yes" to both, flash it as that's your perfect ROM. If the answer to either is "no", then note what was missing/extra and look at the next ROM. When you're done go to whichever ROM closely fitted your needs and flash it.
Oh, and for the love of (insert deity of your choice) install Hard-SPL first, then a WM6.1 Radio ROM after and don't expect your hand to be held by others in this forum until you've proven you're willing to learn the basics. Once you've proven you're willing to try, you'll be amazed how friendly and helpful everyone is.

Not a bad idea - it's been floating around since the Hermes days and probably earlier. BUT... would you like to sift through the 593872 (and rising) members to see which of us seniors actually qualify as useful.
In my 440+ posts some have been helpful, some fun and some flaming but NONE qualify me as a developer (the main reason for this forum). Would I be excluded?
The only real way to sort this out is to let the guys who actually run the site decide what they want, make new rules if necessary and then we live with it.

When I first saw this thread, I was wondering if u show up yourself here.
So there, I started a thread, hope you all happy to be here and quits polluting the ROM thread with rants and anxieties. Just trying to accomodate and vents the air a lil bit here, so please don't take everything too seriously either.
Let one by one speak their own piece of mind, since I can sense it's more than just the waiting that bothers some of you, sounds like something has quite off-course for quite some time, the tip of iceberg is getting larger for some reasons.
So let's chitchat here, maybe it would help many if they can speak their feelings and thinkings. I dunno.
My intention is only neutral, Garmin is a friend of mine, but not for too long I must admit. Yet I cannot agree that some are directing their feelings towards him alone. This is a big community, and we're supposed to collaborate and be helpful to each other with minimum prejudices. If one is considered wrong,it's our job to rectify things in positive and constructive manners.
So be it. Speak up. Mind your language though, we're adult here.

Not a completely useless thread, just in the wrong location. Word choice is important. Maybe consider some words that are not as harsh. I understand your point; however, the meaning gets lost sometimes because people take the strong words to mean that you are attacking them, even when you are not meaning to be

Maybe all chefs should start a deletable announcing thread and release the rom in a separate thread. Upon which the announce thread could then be deleted.
Then again, maybe chefs shouldn't announce at all until they are actually ready to release. Keeping the number of threads down.
Either way, both easier editing of "redundant threads" or preventing them all together, would definitely enhance the readability of this forum.

Don't feel bad towards me, I'm used to strong arguments. Please feel bad for Garmin, at least we must the least do something for him, which we failed, and now I'm afraid of losing him.
If only:
1. I (or someone else) started this thread sooner, before the original one became so polluted,which sparked the fire0 in the end. I remember this has been done before
2. People are growing up and be more patient. Cuz patience is a virtue (Skat sez, u're da man!)
3. Mods are being more proactive so when Garmin came he didn't have to see all the mess. But hey, they're busy and don't want to be labeled as dictator either. It's us who should behave in the first place
4. Garmin is not so talented that many are so anxious waiting for his new creation. On which, I hardly found it's his fault either...
Oh well, oh well, I can only hope that he will get a grip on himself and didn't turn his back to us. My hope also goes for other chefs too, that they all be given more patience and big heart to face all of us, little kiddies.
In my opinion, too many "kids" and not enough "adults" on these forums! The ROMS are FREE. If you're miserable about life, go see a shrink, cos i can guarantee no-one here is qualified to help you with that. So, if you're HERE, you must be looking to flash your Kaiser or find out how to fix issues with it. For anything else, phone 555-PULL-YOURSELF-TOWARDS-YOURSELF (he says in a cheeky tone)

Someone has requested this thread to be created but I didn't, just because i knew that only seniors can create silly thread without getting bashed. Proven, now that I take the risk, bashed. Hahaha... 'sokay for me, getting used to it though.
Anyway, i dont want to pick a fight, but if u read more carefully I have joined this forum for 15 months now, spend my time only for reading, only post to show some praising and gratifications for some useful items, seldom even raised questions. I just reach 100 posts in recent days. Is that what you called spammer?
Lately i have some ideas for this forum, and they are coming from my own observations . But if many found them silly, 'sokay, at least i only want to speak up. If speaking up considered spamming, no probs, i knew the risk. Called me anyway you like.
My only grief for this forum is only why it always insisted to be All-HTC-Devices forum. I have to live up with it, i think, for the moment.
Please do not reply to this one, let it be buried,or deleted by mod.

I am having a problem with the screen timing out, and going black. This seems to happen regardless of whatever I am doing on the phone (texting, browing internet, etc) The touch recognition does not keep the display on, and the phone will go black right in the middle of my typing. the only way to keep the display on is press the menu button. Any advice? Its a clean install, just installed yesterday

@Chris....Have you rebooted your phone since you flashed the 4.2.11.1 upgrade? This happens to me every time I flash a ROM update for Cyanogen, but it is resolved after the first reboot. I would give that a shot.
@Shadow....Yet again a great example of why people are ditching XDA and moving on to other forums for their dev needs. Funny how number of posts somehow adds you to this elitist group of complainers.
@XDA....Can we please change the membership ratings? My proposal is:
Junior Member -1-50 posts
Member - 51-100 posts
Senior Member/Verified *****/I rule the world so you better know that prior to posting anything - 101+ posts

You should try wiping and use the base rom and try cyan's rom again.
In settings change timeout to 2min or something higher.

I have a better idea ppl under 500 posts should not be able to make thread at all.
And bwiner just stfu we r right and u r wrong this belongs to Q&A or CY's thread matter of fact cuz ppl r too lazy to read and reaserch half of time their questions dont even get answeared cuz ppl get fed up with crap like i must have reported 6 posts today that should've been in Q&A or other thread.

Honestly, I don't think shadowch31 was out of line whatsoever. It's not being elitist to chastise others for not following simple rules. The OP is a selfish ass, who seems to be under the impression that this forum is dedicated to him and his problems alone. Like I always say, if everyone who had an issue with a ROM posted a new thread, this forum would be absolutely un-navigable. The CyanogenMod has nearly 10,000 posts. Assuming only half of those are issue-related, that would be 5,000 more threads scattered about this forum.
Maybe people aren't ditching XDA because others are putting them in their place. Maybe people are ditching XDA because of all the morons flooding the site with garbage. This is a development forum, not a personalized troubleshooting team for each user.
To the OP, stick to AndroidCommunity or a similar site. If you keep up this crap, you're not going to be welcome here for very long.
ironically most of the garbage on here is from ppl who flame lower ranking members. who gave you the authority to disrespect or even abate other members? Bottomline we ought to have more respect in here for all members. we all started as juniors...but besides that you are a loser if you waste your time arguing with people you don't even know anyway.

If this had not been his very first post (proving yet again why people should be forced to read the rules and learn what a search button is and it's function) and had it been posted in the correct thead which is ALWAYS on the front page here I would have answered happily. Also might help if this wasn't about the fifth post alone today that has been reported for being in the wrong place I MAY have been nicer.
Now as it happens the OP has held his hands up and said he posted in the wrong place and apologized which is fair enough and hopefully it will be removed and put into the right place where it is going to get the proper attention.

I never argued whether or not this was posted in the incorrect section....it obviously was. That being said....look at how you responded to someone who simply posted in the incorrect section. Wouldnt it have been easier to just say it was in the wrong section and move it?

We killed plenty of cats in the Q&A forums a few months back and had plenty of personal ?s and maybe even a couple fake roms

I have to say to all of you that I apologize for any offending outbursts lately, and especially towards the moderators there. I have come to the realization that with a forum of such massive size, that it has to be absolutely hard to try to keep it organized, and I do believe that they may be trying to do a little too much, it's all for the best interest in the long run.
So, this is my formal apology and I would also like to let all of you know that I have requested to be a moderator just for our Hero section, to ease the burden and give you guys a break, as well as for the best cause, which is to help keep what's left of our community, a community, and help rebuild what is being destroyed.
I'm sure some will have their objections and some will support me, but please, can we just keep this thread clean so it's not polluted like all the others? I would appreciate that.
Ill support you but i thought most wanted toast to be a mod from a thread i read tonight.

its not that I dont support you I actually think your a pretty cool guy. but I think that there are others that have kept a level head through out everything (at least publicly) that may be a little better for the position if one is to be given.
not the mods have made it very clear that this is not an election but there are a lot of people just expressing their opinion on the matter.

maybe its best we keep people who don't have loads of followers out of a moderating position. People tend to play favorites because they have power.

Well, as I read this, I feel like we are all coming to an understanding of what needs to happen around here. Since I am aware that I was one of the targets of your outbursts (big-headed Clinton), I think that your apology more than suffices. As someone mentioned in another thread, let by gones be by gones (I don't even know if I spelled that correctly )
The idea of having sub forum specific mods is being considered at this point and we might see some changes in the very near future regarding this.
Again, Jerry I feel like we got off with the wrong foot (even though the ban thread was not directed towards you), but since you stepped up to the plate and are apologizing to all the members, you are ok in my book
Don't mean to be a pain, but I do have one little request to ask you. From now on, please watch your language as well. You have been dropping the f-bomb like crazy in your last few posts (not this one here though) and it is against Rule #2 (cursing is not allowed). If you are asking to become a mod, you have to lead by example

I have admitted my shortcomings and apologize for them, and I do have to say in personal defense that I was very upset at the current state of our community and I am pushing hard to be able to change the direction we are heading. The current state is very discouraging to both new and old members alike, and if I can change it, I will. Let me prove it.
