READ THE STICKIES PLEASE!!
this is posted in the wrong section. this is a question, not a topic about development. this should be posted in GENERAL.

Hi guys. Just bought my nexus s (i9023) recently and i decided it's the time to root it so i can try out some different roms and experiment with my phone a bit.
I already read and searched a lot before opening this thread, however there were some questions i couldn't find the answer for:
- Will i be able to restore the phone to its original factory state if i need to (unrooted)? I see there are lots of threads with stock roms for this phone, but i only found the radio (not sure what this means either) in a thread somewhere in the development section so i'm not sure i can. The reference i have in my phone is GRI40, what's the difference between this and the other versions i see out there?
- I see that rooting will wipe my phone. What's the best way to backup everything in my phone? There's a lot of talk about titanium backup, however in the market it says root is needed to use it.
- Is there any thread for beginners with everything i should know about android and its "structure"?
Thanks in advance

All of the questions you asked can be found via Searching.
1. To restore back to stock, perform a nandroid restore. (Easy way is to make your own backup before you flash a new ROM). When you want to go back to stock, just restore back to that.
2. Titanium Backup (With Pro License.. "Pro" is a must). When you flash ROMs, you NEED root in order to flash. So that's a given.
3. Stickies all over the forum will get you started.
Im really having trouble at the min rooting my device ive done the started steps downloading the android sdk but still not getting anywere with it can anyone help?
Notice how the Development subforum has zero questions like this? That's because questions are not supposed to be posted here. Either ask in the rooting thread, or in Q&A. Hopefully, the mod will move this to where it belongs.
Are you following the method? Haven't rooted yet, but it doesn't appear that the SDK is needed.

Also, it's extremely helpful to give more details.
i.e. These are the exact steps I've done.
This is the error I see at this step
Just saying it doesn't work I need help is hard to debug.
Hello. I am completely new to this forum and completely new to the phone modding world as well. So, please excuse me if I have broken any rules or am posting in the wrong section. I have a Galaxy S3 - Verizon 4G LTE phone. I use it on WIFI only. I do not use a sim card. Therefore, I cannot update the operating system at all, since Verizon requires a connection to their servers, through their connection. My android version is 4.1.1. I wanted to update this to the latest android version available. I haven't the slightest clue as to how to go about that. Whenever I've looked this up, I am always led to one program: Cyanogenmod. I don't understand how this works at all. Would anyone please be able to explain how I go about this in baby steps? What are the risks? What do I need? Would I ever be able to recover back to the original operating system that came with the phone? Is there a way to save my current app/games data before doing this, for example, Subway Surfers? I also do not know what rooting is but, it seems as though it gives you the option to go much deeper into the phone's customization. Is that required for this? Any information, pictures, step by step guides would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
Ok first you need to read the stickies. Also just Google what root is. Do some research first man. Did I mention the stickies?

Are you talking about the "[How To] Reset your phone in order to return to Verizon(Updated 12/11/2012)" and "[GUIDE] Debrick your bricked SCH-I535! [BOOTLOADER/HARDBRICK]" stickies? Those are the only ones I see in this section. I currently haven't done anything to my phone so, those don't really apply to me yet. I did however browse through them. I saw the mention of Odin, a ROM flashing tool. And rooting would probably give you access to the system settings required to flash these ROMs onto your phone. This is all I can make out at the moment.

There are stickies in every section you should hop over to the general section and start looking there.
Hi guys, have the moto g xt1039 version, tried Cm11 but right now with stock firmware, root permission and unlocked bootloader of course.
Right now there's a new update, i tried to do that via Wi-fi but it fails, and as i knew and as they told me, can't do this because of booloader and root.
So, any suggestions? The phone continues to notify me there's an update. What can i do? Flash a new stock rom, updated? Or remove root permission and lock the bootloader again?
Please, leave here some links. Thanks a lot.
Just freeze MotorolaOTA via Titanium or remove it and you won't receive any messages about new update. Or, you can restore your phone to stock and receive update and then install root, recovery, etc. Just read general section of Moto G forum, topic about restore to stock it sticked.
Do not post non development threads in the development section

I have a LH H343/Risio. I want to root it so I can use my sd as internal storage. I can't find anu specific ways of rooting, so I was just going to use kingroot one click. But I am worried about bricking my phone. I have read around thay your an create an image to recover from if you brick it. Honestly, I am not sure how to even recover if it does happen, it is impossible to find any info breaking it all down. But I figure I should make an image just in case. But I can't find any way to make an image without root, which defeats the whole idea of having an image to restore from if I brick in the process of rooting. So what I am looking for os comprehensive guides to.
1. Rooting LG H343/Risio
2. Making an image to recover from without root.
3. How to restore from that image if I brick my phone
Sorry for the noob questions, but I have beem searching all day and can't find anything solid that makes me confident in what I'm doing.
Thanks a ton!
