Did you use the Odin one-click download to re-install the Original OS? There is no file to load - just one big 300MB Odin file.
If you can't get this done, then I doubt you will be able to put the i9000 firmware on - it requires you to use Odin and is more complicated.

How did you try to install the market.apk? Am guessing it would have to be sideloaded as I doubt it's a standard market app, and of course AT&T cripples the ability to load non-market apps natively.

yes i used the one click downloader and i follow all the directions it has on the thread but when i go through the process my phone doesnt show up and i've tried it may different ways and when it does show up nothing has worked it always goes to file analysis then after a few seconds it says fail
could you possibly tell me or show me a walk through of how you use it because i may be doing something wrong that the odin thread isn't telling me
plus do you use the .exe .rar or .zip? not that i think it would matter

Baffled, newb

so i recently used superoneclick to root my phone. The program said my phone is rooted yet when my kernels etc are the same as stock. I have superuser on my phone but how do i change the kernels etc so that i can use non market apps like wireless tether?
Kernels can be changed with new ROMS. Rooting means you get superuser permission on the terminals so things can be changed.
i dont understand what you asking about non market apps? But you can use apps that required root.
Hope i helped.

I downloaded wireless tether and titanium backup to remove sprint ID. The issue is when i try to run either, they dont work. Wireless says the kernel is the issue. What else should I do to be able to use these apps?

Try barnacle(it's in the market) for wifi tether and you need to download and install busybox in order to use titanium backup, and be careful what you remove because you could brick your phone...

Thank you for the barnacle thing, i havn't removed anything im having issues using anything that requires root access, just unrooted my phone.
Can anyone give me a step by step to rooting it? I simply want to remove sprint ID and have my phone run faster. Cant think of any apps i would really need.
Download z4root here http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=446145&d=1290341328 transfer it to your sdcard and use a file manager to open it(if you don't have one download astro) install and run it, choose permanent root, and let it do it's thing...
did that, still isnt working, thank you though.
it appears anytime i try to run an app it says something along the lines of not having root access, even though it is rooted
Weird. Hmmmm. I meant i dont know much about your phone. I know that when my root got effed, i just did a factory reset and re-rooted and it worked.
Sorry couldnt help

going to try this now, just didnt want to since it seems a bit more complicated and im really weak when it comes to linux
You could try installing Rom Manager from the market. If it works you will be able to flash a custom recovery, backup your device and flash a custom ROM.
Give it a go and let us know if it works.
cool so i followed the video, then it wasnt rooted, so i used z4root apparently it took two things to fully root my phone. Not sure why, some sort of sprint failsafe?
Although i forgot to set a backup to sprint features, so im a bit screwed down the road.
You prolly can find a sprint ROM somewhere. Or you could do a factory reset, not sure of that will bring back the sprint apps. Dont they have the sprint apps on the Android market?

That would be my video. AND no, you are NOT rooted if you flashed that tar. All that tar does, is make your phone STOCK with custom recovery, to ensure a nice clean platform to work with. You would hold down volume down, voice button, and power. let go when you see samsung, and then apply an update.zip for the kernel. i do have a video on how to root the Android 2.2.2 and it's a proper root video. Sorry for the confusion.

[Q] Samsung Reboot Loop

After applying the OTA update that came out today, my phone is now in a reboot loop. It was rooted and had the Clockwork Mod installed. I did not intentionally install the update, but it kept popping up and I hit install like a dumb a$$.
I'm now trying to restore my phone, but I can't find a reliable set of instructions or download link for the stock ROM to do so. I'm using a Mac, so I downloaded the Heimdall Odin alternative. Where can I find a copy of the stock ROM, so I can install it, update it, and then re-root again? Also, does anyone have any instructions for uploading a ROM using the Heimdall utility?
Any assistance would be much appreciated!
I would take a look around you and read the exact forums you posted in, personally.
I mean, seriously, you didnt even try to find a solution. you just came on here and cried about your issue. Dude, no sympathy. The answer is right next to you and you neglected to even read a few lines down.
Sorry

DON'T EVER INSTALL AN OTA UPDATE WITH A ROOTED PHONE AGAIN . That being said, you are most likely going to need to repartition your phone with a charge.pit file. Heimdall does not have this ability, therefore you must find a windows computer. Once you find one, this will get you fixed up: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1111486&highlight=heimdall I have very little experience with Heimdall, but if you get a windows computer and have questions I can help you out.

No he should not have to use the pit file. It simply requires a software rewrite (flashing stock ROM in heimdall). Simply rooting the phone and flashing CWM does not repartition the phone's memory.

That being said, I too am getting the OTA notification for the Verizon update. I keep hitting the ignore message. How do I stop this OTA from popping up? I have Titanium BU installed, but is there another way to stop this notification?
Please advise as I do not want to have any issues like mentioned above.

Get a file explorer program (I use root explorer its awesome). Navigate to /System and find the 'build.prop' file. Open the file (make sure r/w is mounted), navigate about 1/4 of the way down and find a line that says exactly this:
Code:
ro.build.fingerprint=verizon/SCH-I510/SCH-I510:2.3.6/GINGERBREAD/EP4:user/release-keys
Change only the EP4 to FP1 so you should be left with this:
Code:
ro.build.fingerprint=verizon/SCH-I510/SCH-I510:2.3.6/GINGERBREAD/[COLOR="Red"]FP1[/COLOR]:user/release-keys
Save, exit and reboot.

Thank you guys VERY MUCH. This worked perfectly. I was a little nervous playing in the system files with Root Explorer... Especially because I had to figure out how to make the change etc. But I got it and now no pop up telling me a New OTA is waiting to install.
Thank you again.

[Q] [HELP] cyanogen 10 reroot gone wrong on galaxy s blaze

I just installed the cyanogen 10 mod to my blaze and tried it. i went to this file manager that told me to reroot my phone so that I may be able to use it better. I went to odin to reroot it again but i accidentally used the original blaze.pit file on it and when it rebooted it showed me the original samsung starter instead of the cyanogen mod starter. That wasn't the problem, the problem was it never went in to the phones home screen or apps. Instead it continues to show the samsung logo and the flying android over and over again. I tried using the SGH-T769-hitsquad tar file to fix it (i need to mention that i bricked it once before and used this tar file to fix it) but it keeps taking me to the samsung logo. I can't even try to factory restore it because it just starts acting strange when I go to the menu. I can still go into download mode, i've gone searching for a file or anything to help me fix it but i can't find anything. Please, any suggestions?!
Here's a link to stock Tmo Blaze tar's from GB to ICS. ICS is the UVLH5 file. I suggest download that one.. then flash that file through odin.. dont include a Blaze pit file. just PDA file which is the one you'll download.
EDIT:
They're the ones ontop of the page that says Firmwares for SGH-T769 - USA (T-Mobile)
Let me know if it works for you.

Yeah, all you need is to reflash cwm through odin or if you still have cwm just flash a superuser or supersu zip.

Just use that superuser.zip file, unless you want SuperSU, which I think it's better,

[Q] How to reset device properly

Hello. I am having an issue where I can't install any apps even though I have more than enough space. I have tried all the troubleshooting tips, but none of them work, so I was recommenced to reformat and re-flash my device. I am rooted and unlocked running 4.1.1 with the stock Touchwiz rom. The OG thread can be found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2074780.
I was given advice; however, I am a novice and I don't know the exact steps needed to successfully complete this without bricking my phone or the like. The two most important posts were
I would copy what you need to PC and reformat/wipe the internal sd, and system and then Immediately reflash rom. As there will be nothing to boot.

and
Back everything up that you need and Go into recovery and format/wipe Internal card and wipe/format system and reflash. Would not nand restre cause it will put back whatever is bad. There is no special app partition anymore. Can use as much as you have for apps. For some reason it is being blocked from external sources seeing it.

Some basic questions I have are whether or not I can use TB and if I would have to re-root and unlock, re-root, or neither after I re-flash. I suppose a fairly clear guide or step by step would probably be the best, but any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!
What exactly happens when you try to install an app? Give an example. You open the Play Store, you navigate to an app's page and click Install, then Accept & Download. Then what? Do you get an error? Does the Play Store crash? There's got to be a reason. I wouldn't think you'd need to re-flash if you are booted into your ROM and everything is working fine otherwise.
Are you signed into your Google account for sure? Try signing out and back in, i.e. go to Settings > Accounts and remove and re-add Google. There may just be an authentication problem. Do you use two factor authentication or anything?
If you're already rooted and unlocked (for sure), you wouldn't need to re-root and re-unlock to start over. Pick a new ROM (not stock... use CleanROM or something if you like TouchWiz) and download. Follow the other tips after that. You wouldn't need to wipe you internal or external SD card I wouldn't think. I'm guessing you're just having trouble with the Play Store.
He has the not enough space bug although there is space on the card.
As prdog1 says, I get an "not enough space error" whenever I try to install an application even though I have enough space. I tried this through the Play Store, through manually installing an APK with a file browser, and with pushing an app with ADB, but none work.
I would suggest using odin to go back to stock. Then use root66.tar in odin and unlock your boot loader again.
I may suggest using twrp rather than cwm
Sent from my SCH-I535 using xda premium
I updated all but one app fine. I installed one app fine, but most don't install. How would I use Odin to get back to stock? Would flashing another ROM right now work, or would I still have to re-flash?
Disregard the updates, most don't work. Can I just flash a new ROM? Or what other steps would I need to take? Thanks.

Galaxy S5 Sport- Grey Screen After Rooting with S5 G900P root

Okay so after getting my s5 sport I simply tried to root it. Not paying attention I got the root for a regular s5 g900p. So my phone booted to where it said Samsung s5 sport then vibrated and flashed a like for about a half a second. Imagine this coming on your screen*
----- except like a grayish white color. After this I downloaded the right root but had the same problem I then went to install omega because someone said it would work and I got the kernel Sean droit thing. I simply fixed this by downloading the kernel for my device but it would still not boot up. I tried multiple roms through Cwm I tried cyanogen fusion and the basic stock rom which I tried on odin and failed I tried on sd card and still was unsuccessful. I am using a friends phone to post on the forums hoping that I can get help. This will be mostly appreciated considering I just got the phone and it is the only one that I have at the moment. Thank you

I would just re-download it from Sammobile and make sure it is the latest one because of some protection will lock you from doing it. Other option might be to try and use the official kites app that Samsung uses to do update you phone with.
