Disable Mobile Site in Browser - Captivate General

Is there a way to disable the browser showing mobile sites by default? I can't seem to find an option in the browser settings for it.

There is a hidden setting for all android phones. Unfortunately on the captivate, using the setting causes the browser to crash immediately.

2 problems, please help

I am running the stock HTC ROM on a Fuze. TF3D Weather will open a 3G data session but will not update. It will update over WiFi no problem.
Also, Opera claims I do not have JavaScript enabled when I try to go to a site like Hotmail. I checked the settings and it is enabled. Also, NetFront 3.3 and IE do the same thing.
I have searched but I am lost as to what might be causing these two issues. Thanks
HTC STOCK ROM on fuze? Do you mean that you flashed the HTC stock rom over the stock att rom on the FUze?
If so did you uncheck the proxy server from settings/connections?
Yes, the stock Touch Pro ROM was flashed on a Fuze. I thought the proxy issue was only needed if you use Media Net which I do not. I just let auto connection wizard set up AT&T's "My ISP" connection...
Well, the proxy trick fixed the weather update issue in TF3D. That was weird. Pocket weather Updates fine with and without proxy selected. Any idea why my browsers would keep stating I need to activate Javascript when it is selected in all of my browser settings? Thanks

I am having the same problem. Opera works really well EXCEPT that it won't render any Javascript when I surf the Web. I know it's Javascript, because I tested the same pages on my iPod Touch, which rendered fine until I turned off the Javascript, and then the pages looked exactly as on my Fuze.
Like you, I have Javascript enabled in Opera. I also checked in Connections under "Media Net" that the proxy was disabled, as I had seen in other posts. Also, I went into "opera:config" (type exactly that in the Opera address window -- no "http://"), and under "Proxy" made sure everything was unchecked. These are the only tweaks I've read about, and they still didn't work for me.
Any ideas on how to fix this, anyone? Please help...

Browser Crash with Wireless location turned on when on Wifi

Has anyone else had the web brwser crash when the location is turned on(wireless networks) with Wifi only? Its odd.. i have tried a restart and i am sure it did not do this yesterday... any ideas? This seems to be only happening with google.... if i use another homepage i can open the defualt ATT yahoo one np(i noticed a weather wgdet embeded on the page so i assume it too is using my wirless location).. it must have to do with something in how the google page asks for my location accross the Wifi. Perhaps its google and they have changed somthing? Can anyone else use wifi network location with wifi on and go to google(it works fine on the 3g wireless network). Though i cannot for the life of me figure out why the google page will crash when trying to get my location(if i go to settings on the google page and disable get my location everything is fine)... does anyone know of any other sites i could use to test to see if its the google page or the wireless location call?
Thanks for your time and expertise.
ok i just tested the yahoo.com location and it got my location correct and did not crash... I have tried 4 captivates so i am very scared of hardware issues... this scream software to me.. i just have no idea how to fix it.
Has anyone else witnessed this? Have you tried refreshing your google search page 5-6 times and noticed the browser just close to home screen?

[Q] 3.1 Proxy for apps?

So, I am really glad that you can now set the proxy for individual connections so that I don't have to keep switching on the proxy at university and switching it back off when I get home.
But my main issue is that the proxy only seems to work for the browser.
When the browser connects to our proxy, it asks for my student number and password, and then it allows my through the proxy and I can browse the net.
But with 3.0.1, gmail and the other apps still couldn't get through the proxy, as authentication seems to be only for the browser.
I assume it will be the same with 3.1, but will have to double check on Monday when I go in again, as I only got the update today.
The android developers site that has the list of fixes for 3.1 says this:
"This proxy configuration is automatically used by the Browser when the Wi-Fi access point is connected, and may optionally be used by other apps."
So my questions is, how do we access the "optionally be used by other apps" part?
I don't want to root to use 3rd part software.
Thanks
So. Ya, that apps still can't access the internet.
Except for google maps, that seems to work, although I'm not sure if it has just cached maps or not.
Anyway, there should be a way for the apps to use the same authentication as the browser. The proxy is supposed to be global on the device, so how do you make the authentication global too?
Anyone have any ideas? Or know who I can contact to get an answer/fix?
This is very frustrating. What's the point of having a proxy if the apps don't work, especially in android; an app centered OS.
Thanks

[Q] Youtube, Play store and other links open in browser!?!

My HTC One X has several issues but the most annoying of them all is that Youtube and Play store open in browser by default. I've tried clearing defaults of all apps but no luck. Whats more is they always open in the stock HTC browser, so if i'm using ICS+ or chrome and i hit a link to an android app, it loads the Play store in the HTC stock browser.
Another major issue: Wifi will stay connected to networks even after i leave the area. I have to manually turn off wifi to use my LTE mobile data.
Is anyone else having these issues and do you know of any fixes?
Have you done a full battery pull/power off restart? After clearing prefs?

Want mobil data while wifi has no Internet

Samsung S7 - Android 7.0 - rooted - phone stable
I have an app for real-time viewing for my action cam. The link, unfortunately, is via WiFi. And, of course, there's no Internet access in the camera. The challenge is to use the app and use mobile data at the same time. I tried the enhanced download option (load balancer, I assume) - nothing. I tried the "Mobile always on" option in the Developers panel - nothing. All of the apps I've found appear to be the Samsung load balancer option in an app form.

Not to be unkind but... I haven't a clue about what you're saying. If I read this correctly, I think you're saying I should write an app. I have no tools or even understanding of what's involved.
