Hi guys,
I installed nwsPlayer and it showed up on the pop up in Select Viewer" I unistalled it reinstalled it and now it's not coming up. Only "Movies, RealPlayer, ES File Explorer". I'm using TVersity UPnP sever and I'm having trouble playing FLV files in Real Player or the stock media player, but nwsplayer played them the first time I had it installed.
Can anyone suggest how to get the swsPlayer back into the "Select Viewer" List?
Thanks in advance!
Eyecon plays the file, even though not full screen
Hi, I have a stock note 10.1 and when i make a shortcut to my video map on the homescreen with es file explorer and select a video from that map shortcut it always plays it in the standard videoplayer instead of mx videoplayer.
mx videoplayer is listed as default for video but whatever i try it always start the vid in standard videoplayer.
when i select that same videofile (mp4) with the standard file explorer (the yellow one the vid starts in mx player as it should always.
but the yellow standard filemanager doesn't let me make a shortcut of my video map to the homescreen.
Does anybody know how i can make a map shortcut to the homescreen without using es file explorer?
even "default app manager" from the playstore says mx player is default but it don't work that way here :crying:
thanks!
are you on about the list that shows the video previews ? I think that is part of the stock video player hence it starting the stock video player.
It's something else i would like but i have the feeling it isn't possible.
SOLVED!
Well after searchin' my @ss off i stumbled on a message that said ES file explorer is the culprit!
I had to go to ES file exporer/settings/file settings/ and there i found an alternate "clear all defaults" from ES itself!
So it seems that ES overrules standard default in it's own shortcuts on homescreen.
Nothing in standard clear all defaults gives a clue about that.(all apps)
Well that's something to remember . . . :silly:
It can be of use when you want a special file to open with a special app other than standard . . . .:good:
So I learned something and that is always good:laugh:
I know how to reset the default for a specific app. But this problem is not that same problem.
My Note was unable to open mov files unless I held on the file & selected "open as" & "video". It then offered me the choice of apps for video. I selected Video Player & stupidly set as default.
Now, video player does not show any defaults set so resetting video player makes no difference.
I still have to open as ... video to get it to attempt to open the mov but then it fails when it automatically goes to use video player.
So I need to reset the open as ... video default to get mov files to prompt for a player as it originally did.
I have found tones of posts saying to reset individual app defaults but none are relevant in this case.
Can anybody help please?
Thanks
Eddie

go to applications and select the video player and try the clear data button.
@shaun298: My apologies for not reading your reply properly... you suggested clearing DATA for the video player... I did this for ES Explorer, not the defaults, & you were indeed totally correct & on the nail with data clearing. Brilliant thanks & sorry again! ;.)
So ignore the next bit which was my original pathetic response!...
***Thanks for your reply. Like I said, this is not about resetting default for a specific app. All video players & file managers have been reset for defaults. This is about the default having been set on the "open as" function.
Any other ideas please?***
Thanks!

Glad it worked.
Hi everyone,
I am looking for an app with the following features:
- Play all kinds of differently encoded videos
- have a daily automatically changing playlist of X videos that are played in loop all day long
I had a look at MX player, VLC etc., but they don't even seem to offer playlists ... (I thought about using macros to achieve that second feature, but without playlists ...)
I would be glad about any suggestions.

PS: Does it make sense to ask the developers of MX Player to implement such a feature in their pro version?
This can already be achieved in MX Player. In the video selection menu, select all videos in a folder, and press "play selected" at the toolbar at the top.
In your player settings when player a video, go menu -> play -> loop all
Thank you for your reply.
But I think in this case the videos will eternally be the same.
But I want a certain number of videos be looped for a day and the next day another certain number (for instance 5) of different videos be looped for another day.
you should use tasker
1-you create a folder "X" where you put your videos in
2-You create another folder "Y" where your put the videos that have to be played
3-with tasker you create a task that will move/copy files from "X" to "y" (you have to set up days and hour for this)
4-with tasker you create a task that will erase file in folder X (you can erase them at the end of the day for ex.)
It can a little bit hard but I think you can succeed with taker and mx.
Regards.
My previous phones were a Samsung S2 & S4, and one of the features I found useful, was being able to change the default video player (usually to MX Player). However, on my G7 Power, I can't seem to be able to do this, and there isn't a video player option in the app defaults.
Is there a way of doing this within the OS, or with a 'hack' ?

I can change the default player to VLC or x-ploer without any issue.
There is an option when you first time open a video file let you choose which program to play it as default

I don't get that option on my G7. If I go into Files, and pick a video, it just opens with the default player; to open it with another video player, I have to select a video and then go to the three dots at the top, and choose Open with.
I have tried resetting the default apps, but that didn't give me the option of picking a default video player, it just stopped half my apps working, as they lost their permissions

From app management to clear the default app , you are ready to go.
It was because you already selected the default player at the first run (or you didn't have the second player installed at the first run), so you won't see the option again until you clear the default
Here my moto G7 power, it still has option to choose which player can be chosenView attachment 5046801
Unfortunately I can't see your attachment, if I click on the link, I just get the message "Invalid Attachment specified"
When I look in Default Apps, I don't have any default apps for video - see attached screenshot

When you installed a second video player, next time to click a compatible video file , you should see the option to choose the player , also there would be a "default" option's check box

I have now tried UPlayer & Xplayer, and clicked on a mp4 file in my downloads (in Files app), and it still always open the default video player. I tried granting one access permission beforehand, but that didn't help. There is still no video player showing in default apps either. I can't find any reference to the default/stock video player in the apps list or recent apps, so I can't even disable it, maybe it is part of the files app?

Were you ever able to solve this issue? I'm having the same problem with my G7 Plus. Even if I remove/disable all the apps in the "Open With" menu, something else is still always opening videos by default.
