Hi,
Most of you might knew or even bought this car holder:

I bought that one as well.
It was OK when I got it in the first time, attached to my car perfectly.
Last week, I wanted to took it off because I need to use other car.
After I took it off, the "spring" is loosen! The "spring lock" that you need to push is very loosen.
I cannot attach it anymore
So, I rate this product very bad because I have never took it off before. Only once and it's broken already.
Now, do you have good recommendation for this kind of PASSIVE car holder?
I prefer the one that is not vent mounted.
Thanks.
I have one of those, its been taken off and put back in my car and other cars load of times, no problems at all, not sure what experiences other people have had with them

Yeah, I don't know, probably it was a bad batch? I looked into the spring and it looks quite weak.
I was looking for a way to fix it, but no luck. The spring is just loosen.
Or is this a "knock off"? I bought it from "FoneM8" Amazon.co.uk:
Haicom car holder from FoneM8
I am now thinking to get this for cheap:
iTalkOnline £5.95
I know, it is cheap ... Probably I will buy 2 for spare
I also bought one like the Haicom but as a no-brand item on eBay. I was very dissatisfied with it too.
I bought then a Brodit mount. I took one to put on the dashboard but they have mounts for the windshield. It's very solidely built.
See this discussion for more details and pictures.
So far my experience with Brodit and Carcomm cradles have been very good. I got a carkit built into my car, and with Brodit there are mounts for most of the cars. And those can be build into the car without drilling holes etc.
And the cradle itself is also very good.
But, don't you have warranty for your Haicom car holder? Don't know if you bought it from PDAShop, but they are usually very good with their service. I'd say just get it replaced!

I searched and didn't really find anything.
I'm looking for alternatives to the OEM HTC car upgrade kit. A non-universal, powered (or has a usb power input), suction cup mount. Are there any good ones out? It seems like there aren't many mounts in general for sensation and the ones that do don't have a power plug.
If you're going for a suction cup mount, you're either going to put it on your windshield or dashboard, which means you're going to have a cord hanging whether it's a powered mount or non-powered mount with a charger cable attached.
If that's the case, I'd think a "custom" holder is unnecessary (unless you really want it to start into car mode every time you dock it). I'd as soon get a mount that's inexpensive and works well. I've used and reccomended the Arkon Mobile Grip before and people have been happy with it:

That's actually exactly why I want a powered mount haha. But the one you recommended looks pretty sweet, I didn't find that one when I was searching.

How much does that tab thing on the side stick out?
Not that much. The spring is behind that tab thing. Here's a pic for comparison:
Arkon is recommended!
I do own this Arkon holder and it's probably the best out there. The built quality of this holder is top notch. The thing I like the most about this holder, even with a skin be it soft, gel or hard case, you don't have to remove it to mount it.
If you have one to buy, this product is the real thing.
Just bought the shortie lol Thanks for the vid!
Thunderbolt Mount
Hello,
You could always buy the mount for the Thunderbolt (http://www.htcdepot.com/igrip-perfektfit-car-charging-dock/3A78A8282.htm). I have it and it works good. The phone won't fit in it with a case on though, not even a silicone one. With out a case it holds the phone good, charges it, and puts it in dock mode.

I got tired of waiting for HTC to release their POGO pin dock, and made my own, using the info I found in this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1611116
I bought a el-cheapo dock on ebay for about $10:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=110906604719#ht_500wt_1287
And asked for a couple samples of pins from Mill-Max.com:
http://www.mill-max.com/sockets/so_...ARCH_NUMBEROFPINS=&thumbnail=810_40_001tn.gif
Worked out pretty well - the only thing is, lining up the pins to the phone was a pain in the rear. I had to hot glue them in, due to the fact that I couldn't exactly align them using what I had on hand. The phone does charge, and changes to dock mode (as you can see). It only charges at USB speeds though - it seems that the folks in XDA have yet to figure out the secret (if its even possible) to charge at AC speeds using the pins.
All in all, a pretty good and cheap project - considering that the HTC dock costs $70, and this probably cost $20 at most.

DIY for the win. Too bad I am using a ballistic case that hides the pins. I'm just too afraid of dropping my phone.

Wow, very nice. Thinking about doing this myself but maybe trying to keep the dock looking nice
Thanks - obviously this is a little rough for my first attempt. Definitely a learning experience. Due to the fact that the darn pogo pins on are on the back of the phone, you need a dock that will hold the bottom of the phone in place, which limits which docks you can use. I'm not sure if the Kidigi dock will work - it may depending on how much room there is inside of it.
The pins I got from Mill Max fit a 1/16" dremel bit exactly, however since I didn't line them up exactly, I had to oversize the holes, which is why its sloppier than I'd like. Oh well!
That is true, but I guess at the end of the day, when the phone is plugged in it still looks nice. I wonder if someone could use longer pins and be able to do it with a case that has pogo exposed.
I've been looking for a phone stand for quite some time now. Would really appreciate suggestions or recommendations of stands people have used.
Things I am looking for:
Can hold N4 in portrait and landscape
Minimal coverage of the entire front
Good cable management or built in microUSB charger
Sturdy construction
A lightweight designed stand is what I'm looking for. Let me know if you find anything... I'm new to Nexus and have to replace my iPhone gear.
Are you guys open to diy or strictly something professionally designed?

I was looking for the same thing for my newly bought Nexus 4.
I've searched ebay and didn't find anything that looks decent to be honest.
The most beatiful / pratical thing I've found is this LG Wireless charger: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/LG-WCD-80...51188?pt=Battery_Chargers&hash=item3a7fa87b34

}
But the price is simply obnoxious.
Then there is this ones:
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Sync-Dock...ories_MobilePhoneChargers&hash=item3cd011bd82
Which seem very.. meh. Plastic thing.
Now that first one is sexy! I'd personally be a bit wary of the price and location of the item but if someone gets one and works legit I'd love to know.
Your 2nd link is a charger stand I used with my old LG 2x, they are very good, I had 2 of them (one for work one for home). :good:
I've got two of the second one. Bought off Amazon. Work fine but ensure that they supply the non-case insert adapter as the first one I purchased didn
't come with one. Phone still charges but is slightly loose in the cradle.

I would say pro design, I'm hoping to have something slick in appearance.

The two images posted look pretty good. Too bad the top one is so expensive and out of the price range I was thinking about spending on a stand. Thanks for the suggestions though.
Recently, my brother bought a Samsung Galaxy S6, need a car holder when driving. Could you share some experience?
Try this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s6/accessories/car-mount-recommendations-t3079441
Lots of recommendations and discussion.
Thank you! will go
I went with a cup holder dock. I know it doesn't work for everyone but I found that in my 15 Sierra it is perfect.

Careful with that one. It might damage your dash. I would use the extra gel pad on top of the pre-installed one. I saw pics of it on the amazon review.
Thanks for the advice Jhong209
I got it from here

I bought this one on Touch of Modern:
www.amazon.com/Tackform-Solutions-Ultra-Universal-Phone/dp/B00P87QIZ6
I have a small car with no great place to put a normal windshield mount without blocking my view, but this one is perfect for what I need.
It's a little flimsy on the CD slot on my car, but it won't go anywhere. It may be better on yours.
I also have something like this one:
http://www.amazon.com/iOttie-Windshield-Dashboard-One-Retail-Packaging-Black/dp/B007FHX9OK/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1434476700&sr=8-1&keywords=iottie+windshield+phone+mount
I'm a Sprint Employee. My opinions are my own, and do not reflect an official statement from the company.
I searched for a tripod adapter (P7 to standard tripod 1/4") and isolated most of them to three. Please see the image below. I'm leaning toward the Manbili due to its high ratings in the reviews and its dimensions:

Are there other adapters I should consider? All comments positive or negative are welcome, especially about the Manbily.
I bought a Magsafe case, and a Magsafe tripod mount, and never looked back. Magsafe accessories on Pixel are fantastic
Keep in mind that those clamp style holders probably won't be able to hold the phone in the middle. I have one from a previous phone and with the P7P it is kind of off balance since it needs to hold it from one side. The power and volume buttons are in the middle of the phone and the camera bump in on the side. So if you go with one like this make sure that the stand is strong enough to hold it like that.
I have 3 clamp style ones, a relatively expensive Manfrotto one, a good solid machined aluminium one and a cheap 8 quid Amazon thing and i use the amazon one more than anything which is a bit bonkers putting an expensive device in a £8 plastic clamp.
I don't have problems with stability but i use a low Manfotto tripod where the legs open very wide and very low https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B0152WXZX4/
What is the maker & model of your "cheap 8 quid Amazon thing" (curious minds want to know...)

Do any of you have problems with the clamp pressing the buttons on the side of the P7P?
My thanks to all who replied! I popped for Ulanzi's top model.
