Has anyone else noticed this?
I cook my own roms, so perhaps it is a problem with my cooking, but I dont think so.
This past 2 weeks I have been on holiday, and so it has been a time where I have used my hd2 alot for its music player, and obviously ive never used it as long before, otherwise im sure I would have noticed this in the past (which leads me to believe that it MAY be a certain package) butin the 2 hour drive to the airport, my battery went from 100 to about 50! surely that cant be right? The screen was off and when it WAS on the backlightwas about 20%, all wireless controls were off other than the actual phone and I didnt use any other apps whilst listening. Is it is just me?
Has anybody else had these problems? I will of course do more research when I return home on thursday as I am still away, but I just thought I would get this Q out in the mean time.
If anybody has had this problem and found any fixes / work arounds / improvements, please let me know, or if you can just report you also have bad battery drain that would be interesting. If theres anyone else who uses my roms, and has the same music battery drain problem PLEASE report it.
Thanks in advance
How many music files did you put in your storage card ?
I noticed that if there's more music files to play, the batt drains faster &
often your music player is trying to keep syncing which causes the HD2 to be hot.
*Just my experience, so i usually put not more then 50 music files.
To be honnest with u i think the sense music player and overall interface looks like ****. It should however not matter if you cook your own roms or not. The overall drain of battery on this phone is tremendus. There are several plaises where you can find cheap ass musicplayers witch will rape the sense music player at any time. If you wish to save battery life to actually use this phone for whats its really meant to be used as (a phone), get a cheap ass music player from somwhere else. there are methods of redusing the drain on the phone (Which i guess you already know since you cook your own roms and ****) though it will put a limit to you overall experience of the phone which in my eyes is most important.
An idea is to try something that requires less of the sence and more of the phone since the htc sence is famous for draining batterylife. s2p is a iphone like musicplayer witch is not perfect but can maby help you with your draining problem due to its non interferance with the sence interface
Hope this problem sorts out for you m8.
I will follow this tread to see if a bright mind comes up with some solution that can mingh get me to use my phone as a musicplayer again
Cheers
Remember to turn of the auto download of album art! The sense music player probably went through your whole library and downloaded album art.

Hey man!
Im having the same problem. I just noticed it last week. It wasn´t like that at the beginning, but I had fewer songs by then (2GBs prob). Now I have 6Gbs of music, and the HTC player is reaaaaaalllyyy slowww now. It takes about a minute or more to actually be able to use the HTC player. At the beginning I thought it froze, but after 1 or 2mins, it actually started working :S Is it because I have a lot of music installed on my storage card? Do I need another class card (such as 4 or 6)? Or do I just install another player on my htc to avoid that problem?? And if so, which mp3 player would you recommend me??
-album art off?
- use of playlists?
- deleted sd ->application data before flash a new rom?
- deleted music and at best "my documents" and then copy music back to sd?
- use of class 6 card?
I think that's the best questions for this issue
oh, I personally think that Nitrogen is the best player atm

Hey Michel,
I dont use any playlists. I havent flashed my rom at all. Im still using my hd2 with all settings that came when I bought it from TMobile. And I havent deleted my music and copied it back to my sd. And I use the memory card that came with the hd2, 16GB, but Im not sure which class it is. Now that I've rearranged my music in folders it loads waay faster than b4 (between 5 to 10 secs ) But the battery still drain pretty fast. In one or 2 hours it decreases about 25%. Im using EDGE technology, and my mp3 (once in a while). Is it supposed to drain that fast?? I think it has something to do with my music, cuz since I put my music into my sd card, the battery drains a lot faster than b4"!!!! Please help Oh! and where can I download that Nitrogen player??

Hey - I wanted to say: Use playlists and look if drain is still so high.
Then... your SD Card can really be a problem - do you have a buddy, who can lend his to you (8MB?) and you put the same music on it?
It seems, as if Audio Manager would always search to update the library.
Test: Kill it with TaskManager and use Nitrogen and look for the drain.
And nitrogen... ehm... just on the top of xda-devs is a search button (I would use the google xda-search)... it's released here

I've experienced the stupid battery drain from Sense Music as well, I have switched to S2P now but the battery drain doesn't seem much better but to be fair I haven't done an extensive test yet.
I have also applied these reg edits. I thought they should have been done by BSB tweaks but clearly they weren't. I can't comment about battery improvement as I said I have not done a long enough test. One thing I can say though is that when I was listening to music via sense, my HD2 did get warm quite quick, with the reg tweaks done the temperature doesn't seem to increase now.
I do have a 8gb A-data CL6 card installed. I will be swapping this out for a 16gb CL10 card when I find one .
I do think that the battery drain is caused by the microSD card and mine was clearly getting warm after prelonged use but as I said with the reg tweaks the HD2 isn't getting warm now.

Battery
Hey Xavier, thanks for your help. Im gonna try that, but now I've noticed that even when Im not using my phone, the battery drains pretty damn fast!! It goes from 100 to 45% in 4 hours or so =S I have to charge it every freaking day!!!!! And i dont use it intensively. I read an article relating suspicious battery drain with viruses. How would I know if my phone has viruses, is there any free antivirus for Windows Mobile phone??? Or any other solution to this??

I've been downloading a few tunes to the phone and have come up with a strange issue.
What happens is that the tune will 'jump' and miss bit like a cd or vinyl jumpin when playing the tune through TF3D and windows media player. However, when it is used a a ring tone, there is no issue with 'jumping'
Strange as playing the same file on my pc, there's no jumping either.... go figure.
Am using the standard Vodafone ROM which even does exactly the same with the updated vf rom, very frustrating.
Anyone else come across this?
Thanks for reading.

Its a lag when Manila is pulling it from your storage card.
Letting the tab fully update before playing the song may help.
Also make sure you're not running too many other programs at the same time, which can cause a lag due to limited memory resources
Hi Bruce, this makes no difference either. Have also looked at the various threads on this issue and tried the various 'fixes' including the 'hotfix' from htc and still no difference.

Hmmm, not sure then.
I listen to music all the time on my music tab and the only time I have issues is if something else opens on the device, like I get an e-mail or something.
Check your task manager and see what else is running and also how much free RAM you have while playing music.
I'm not sure what ROM you're running but that may have something to do with it as well.
Also, the SD card may not be transfering data very quickly for some reason.
Have you tested video?
Wish I could be more help.
Think I may have worked out what the issue is.
Most mp3's play ok, the ones that I am having trouble with are only recorded at 16Kbps everything else is above this which doesn't seem to have a problem.
For info Bruce my ROM is 5.2.20771 (Build 20771.1.4.6)
Hello folks
I have just entered the world of smartphones, and I must say, Android has blown me away. I have no doubt that it has the potential to crush Apple.
Seeing as how I am a noob, I would like this thread to be informational not only to me but all other noobs out there looking to maximize their experience with their Android.
I've had my X10 for a few weeks now and have compiled a list of comments and questions that I feel would be best posted on this forum.
Let's get at it:
1) Advanced Task Killer: yay or nay? I've read that no self-respecting Android user would go without this app, but I've also read that it may in fact hinder battery usage. Any thoughts?
2) Dolphin Browser: This browser is my default and it is totally awesome. Skyfire has the potential to be great once the video issues for the X10 are figured out, but for now Dolphin is the shiz. I haven't tried OperaMini5, so I would love for anyone who has tried it to comment on how it is compared to Dolphin.
3) Texting: I downloaded the HTC keyboard which was great, but then I discovered Swype and I don't think I'll ever go back. Get your hands on it!
4) Astro File Manager. 'Nuff said.
5) MixZing: This is a high quality music player, much better than urMusic which comes with the phone.
6) Home replacement: Alright I know there are other threads on this, but I wanted to be specific. I need a replacement that can cater to my battery life woes. I've narrowed it down to Zeam, Helix, ADW, and Home++. Apparently people have gotten ridiculous battery gains with Helix; I'm using it now and still only managing approx. 12 hours. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.
7) JuiceDefender: Is this the real deal? Is anyone finding this app to help battery life?
8) Moxier: Is there a way to get rid of this pest? I'm quite sure I'll never use it and it seems to waste a lot of memory. Is StartupAuditor a good option for this issue? Are there any other battery-consuming apps/components that I should watch out for?
9) I wanted to give a link, but since I'm a new user I can direct you to a site called xperiax10.net where you can find info on a great divx player.
Well I think that's all I want to say for now
I would love input from anyone who would like to share.
Cheers
(1) Well I've read up on alot of opinions about task killers but everyone has mixed views. I use it cause when memory goes low for me it goes bit sluggish.. don't know whether its freeing up memory during that time or what not!!
(2) not used opera in ages but I think i'd still pick dolphin browser.. its cool.
(3) swype is just amazing.. makes texting soo much easier and fun! I remember how annoying it was texting before!
(4) astro does the job for me an all ;-)
(5) don't used mixzing but I'm sure I tried it some time ago.. for me meridian music player does the job for me.. specially like the music control widget and the fact that it doesn't drain much battery!
(6) I've tried helix a while back.. it was ok, not tried the others tho except for adw launcher. for me adw lookz slick, has alot of options to customize & is good on battery.. Worth a shot!!
(7) some people find this app really useful.. unfortunately for me it didn't work.. lol honestly widget never showed any improvements to my battery life and instead used to drain little more..
(8) Ive not really used startup auditor so can't say 100% but most of the useless stuff still hapen to load here and there.. but I'm sure someone out there can give ya a better answer!!
(9) I've got it and I must say really impressive.. Puts yxflash to shame! lol
Extras
---------
You can try Countouch Launcher.. widget that does different things based on how many times you tap it! Has 25 slots!!
1 tap - open dolphin browser
2 taps - call john doe
3 taps - text john doe
And so forth.. The paid version allows for 4 widgets with 25 slots each!!
Dropbox - sync files between your computer and mobile device.. Useful for me cause allows me to backup files online, share with others, and more!!
Music Junk for music fans out there! really good at finding songs!! Preview & download songs, also possible to retrieve lyrics an all..
Hope it helps!!!

1) the only reason I use atk is to see what's running. Since I turned off autokill and stopped killing tasks manually my phone works better. Ie. Not as laggy, all apps work properly.
2) I use dolphin and the default browser the most. I keep opera and skyfire on hand if need be.
3) I wasnt feeling swype so I'm using better keyboard. I would say its a little bit better than the HTC one.
5) I use mediascape. It looks pretty and I find it meets my needs. Although a shake to skip to the next track option would be nice.
6) adw.launcher all the way. I charge my phone every evening and my usage varies a lot so I'm not sure how it is on battery life. Imo its more stable than a lot of the other home replacement apps and its very customizable.
7) haven't tried juicedefender for above mentioned reason.
8) afaik not until root is available. I found trial and error to be the best way to optimize your battery due to what kind of apps you use. For me, I only use GPS when needed and if I'm not going to use an app for a while I keep hitting back until it exits the program. That's it.
9) leave out everything before and including www. But make sure you're not posting links to warez.
Cheers
Note on ATK..
Just a heads up that on linux/Android, there should be no difference whether you have 5MB of RAM or having 250MB of RAM free. Think free RAM = wasted RAM.
The real pain is the CPU usage on background apps. Unfortunately, ATK doesn't show CPU usage (or at least it didn't for me).
On the other hand, Astro File manager has a tool built in which lists every app, service and process running. It also lists full details on resource usage for each item (CPU%, kB of RAM etc).
As for auto-kill, it has been warned that this could only screw up key services and apps from working. Additionally, it could potentially decrease battery performance as services and apps use processing power when they are killed and again when they start up again (over and over).
Personally, I noticed an increase in battery life after uninstalling ATK.
Cheers
1. Despite many say "Don't need it etc" i still use it. If memory goes below 30Mb the Phone becomes unresponsive and laggy. Besides i don't use autokill.
2. Not surfing much on the Phone so the Standard Browser does the Job for me.
3. HTC Keyboard for me , i just can't handly Swype and i find texting (sliding) very complicated with it. Not for me :-D
4. Astro all the way until Root.
5. Standard Music Player does the Job.
6. ADW Launcher works best for me.
7. Uninstalled because frankly it does nothing. Despite it says that it has saved double amount of Battery but i honestly can't see a difference.
8. Sadly no way to remove that crap until we have root :-(
Hi all ,
I really hope I'm not duplicating here, but I've had a look and it seems like no-one has had this exact problem. Please accept my apologies if there is someone with an absolutely identical problem and I've just not seen it. I have looked on various different forums however, and to no avail.
Background - I got my shiny new HTC Sensation at the end of Oct. Fell in love with it, and Android, quite quickly, as it gave me the customising ability that I could never get from my iPhone.
Issue - Every 6 days since I got it (a pattern I've only just noticed) the lock screen freezes. The ring and shortcuts are there, but no background - just black. No touch input works, but if I call it, it rings and the status bar responds, I just can't get into it. The only way to get to it, is to take the battery out and do a factory reset. This is obviously incredibly annoying as, even tho I have a good backup system, I still need to do all my widgets and shortcuts and blah blah blah. The reason I've only just worked out that it seems to be a 6-daily cycle, is that my provider have already replaced the handset once, and it still does it even on the new one. The latest episode was on Friday night just gone.
Current situation - On the advice of my provider, I am now using my phone without the SD card in it, and without any apps apart from the the stock ones. Then, if it's still running after a week, they told me to put the SD back in, and then get my apps back on in batches of 2 or 3. This is going to be a very lengthy process, and will therefore be a massive inconvenience.
Question - Does anyone have any idea what might be causing this? I'm a total droid noob, but I've read lots of stuff and spoken to a few people and I've come up with the conclusion that it might be an auto task killer that is messing with a process, or it could be something that tries to update every 6 days, but causes a massive conflict somewhere in doing so. I'm really just guessing there, which is why I have come to what seems to be the best source of info on smartphones, to see if any of you guys and gals might have any ideas on this issue.
Thanks so much in advance for any help anyone may be able to throw in my direction.
Mike
a reset wont work? are you ROOTED? or Stock? if anwsered these im sorry its like 48 hour day for me right now and reading and even typing is putting me to sleep,
but back to your problem it could be something updating and causing the issue, if it happens every 6 days, on the 5th day go into phone and turn off background data, this will stop anything that wants to update in background, and see if that stop the problem, then you know it is something that is running that causing the issue
or possible as stated a auto task killer,
what apps do you usually have normally, a list of what you install on your phone can do eliminate of process
Hi ilostchild,
Thanks so much for your response.
In answer to your questions:
Not rooted. I really want to, but because of this issue, have not done so yet. So it's got HTC Sense 3.0, and lots of apps that I have never used and will never use from my provider, Orange.
Here's a list of downloaded apps:
Apps:
Dropbox
Tappin
Evernote
Es File Explorer, Task Manager & Security Manager
AVG antivirus (free)
Viber
Bump
IMDb
Ultimate Guitar tabs (Purchased)
Backup Everything
Dolphin Browser
Tune in Radio (Purchased)
Perfect Keyboard (Purchased)
PowerAMP full (Purchased)
Soundcloud
Zedge (I have "auto change wallpaper" option on)
ebay + paypal
MX Video player
Kindle
Skitch
uTorrent Remote
App2SD
Applist Backup
Various google apps (goggles, night sky, g+ etc)
Games:
Contract Killer
Drag Racing
Non market games:
Gameloft - Asphalt 6 Adrenaline; N.O.V.A. 2; Eternal Legacy
I think that's everything.
So, at the moment I am using my phone without the SD card, on the advice of my provider, to see if it is the SD card that is causing the issue. Could it be the SD card that is causing the problem? It doesn't make much sense to me as I can't see how a corrupt or problematic card would be causing such a time-related issue. However, as I said in my first post, I am an Android noob, so I'm not basing that assumption on anything apart from what I know about PCs.
One thought I did have, was that it may be my Zedge app. I had it installed on both the original handset and the recent replacement one. Plus, I had it set to an hourly wallpaper auto-change, and when the phone freezes, there is no wallpaper visible on the lock screen. Again, that is purely guesswork.
I hope that info is useful for you. And thanks again for taking the time to answer my post.
If you need any other info I will be more than happy to provide it.
It could possibly be that app zedge, ans no can't be sdcard if it was it would fail on the spot , also could be avg virus scanner , I suggest clearing phone and just installing zedge and see by sixth day, if it doesn't try avg, I only can see those 2 causing the problem
Thanks again for your help.
I'll try your suggestions. It's good to know it's not the SD card. I can start taking pictures again!
I wouldn't say it was avg I got it on my senny and its ok try the other app 1st how often does it change ur wallpaper and how many are there

Evenin' squire,
Thanks for your input.
I have it set to one hour intervals (I bore easily!) and there are probably about 20 wallpapers that it cycles through. I'll give a go for a while without that app - although I've had a look for any known issues with it and I can't find any that are similar to my issue. I guess it could be a conflict with something else and I'm just unlucky enough to have the exact config of apps that creates that particular problem!
Thanks again mate.
Im not a dev, but i thought of this, what you could do is when it freezes up you can plug it in computer and get a logcat, maybe someone who can read it will know what happen

That sounds like a really good plan, only problem is, I have no idea how to do it.
What do i do after plugging it in? Do i need any software on my PC?
Sent from my HTC Sensation Z710e using xda premium
adb/fastboot/sdk installed, and when it happens just plug phone to computer,
go to adb directory(unless you have it set in windows enviroment)
and do adb logcat and it will output bunch of stuff and copy and paste it here
Thanks man.
Well, I'm on day 8 now with no issues (really hopeni haven't jinxed it now!).
I haven't re-installed Zedge or the avg antivirus and I've kept auto-sync off.
I will come back if it happens again, but in the meantime, thanks so much for your help with this. It's so good to know that there are actually people out there who don't mind helping out a fellow human.

Np, man glad to see it working, i suggest try it with auto-sync now without the app
see what happens, but glad its working good for you
I have Samsung Hercules (sgs2 for TMO) for sometime now and though there is plenty to love about that phone, I don't like the audio quality on it. To those of you thinking I must be a snobbish audiophile kind...no I'm not that, far from that, I have $30 IEMs and there is big difference when I switch from mp3 player to the phone. I've tried DSPs and EQs, it still is not good enough. I had HD2 before that and I didn't feel that much of difference going from mp3 player to phone. Now judging by gsmarena review, it seems One S has pretty excellent audio and I'm thinking of change.
Biggest deal breaker however for me is non-expandable storage on One S, but I think I can manage with 16GB. Which brings me to my first question, how much space is available to user out of this 16gb on the phone ?
What are the other major/minor issues on this phone worth mentioning (i dont care about non removable battery).
My Ville is just fine but some people have issues with theirs.
You get 2GB for apps and about 10GB for your "SD card". It's really not a huge deal. I use Spotify and Google Music so I don't have to keep much on the phone anyways.
Sounds just fine by the way.
This phone doesnt have many problems. It is probly tmobile's best right now
Sense 4 is nice and not too bloaty, camera is speedy, and this phone is lightning fast
However, it does like to get hot when I play games

One gripe I have is why my facebook calendar doesn't display the correct time when synced with my calendars on my phone. I had an event tonight at 8 that was correct on facebook (central time zone) but it was being displayed an hour ahead for 9 PM.
Another gripe I have is the screen itself. The pentile display looks grainy.
My third gripe is that it randomly rebooted three times now when I was leaving work. I was listening to music I had pinned to listen offline from google music. My phone is connected to my work wifi, but when it switches to the regular cell network while listening to google music, it reboots. I am not streaming music with google music, its already been pinned to listen offline.
Fourth gripe is related to google music and HTC's music player. When I pin songs to play while offline, I don't know why HTC's music player doesn't recognize them. So I can't use them to make ringtones unless I have them loaded onto my phone.
Gripe number 4.5 is that this phone doens't support FLAC files. I am just getting into this file format, tho, so its not a big deal.
Fifth gripe is that I wish the app drawer had the same swipe effect that the galaxy nexus has where if you swipe it to the side, the next group of apps comes from the back to the front.
Sixth gripe is I don't know why but when my my phone is plugged into my speakers and I get a notification like a text or an email, for some reason it interrupts the music and the notification sound plays through the speakers. I'll have to experiment with this some more, tho.
Seventh gripe is all the t-mobile bloatware. Yes, I can root it if I really wanted to, but I'm too lazy.
Eighth gripe is swype. Doesn't install because of the 3-dotted menu button that appears that makes swype think the resolution is less than it really is. And the native HTC Swype keyboard blows.
With all that said, BEATS AUDIO IS SOO RAD!! Except I haven't really found an equalizer. But I only listen to my music through google music, so I don't know. Also, the sound through the speaker is so crisp and clear!
AND it is very very fast and snappy! The camera is SO fast. I haven't shot any videos with it yet, but just a few pictures.
As for all my gripes, I reckon that there are some fixes for some of them. I am considering getting a galaxy nexus to see how it compares and then sell whichever one I don't like. I looked at a galaxy nexus today at the store, tho, and while it was a demo unit that keeps the screen on all the time, there was still bad bad burn in. Anyway, I hope that helps you out a bit.
Only issues ive had are really minor bugs. Like when i play temple run it sometimes lags out even though i cleared the ram and cleared any running apps. i disabled everything tmobile put on the phone but it doesnt matter cause their **** keeps popping up -_- will have to root i guess.
biggest thing with my particular phone was the call quality. it SUCKED. everyone i heard on my phone sounded really buzzy and shaky. waiting on a replacement. i really have had no real issues except for random crap that happens due to apps and stuff and limitations on certain apps. its a really good phone =) i love it. just need to get used to its length is all.

i noticed the htc keyboard has a stock swype in it while u type which kinda bugs me a lil bit since i don't mess with swype too much . .makes it feel kind of a lag while u just one key type it
You can turn that feature off. Just go to settings>language and keyboards>HTC Sense Input> and turn off trace keyboard if you already haven't.

It wont see the files because Google Music puts a .nomedia file in the folder that it downloads the music files to. DoubleTwist is able to see past that and allows you to play the downloaded files. It might have FLAC support too, not sure.

works flawlessly.. So it is supported

Fifth gripe is that I wish the app drawer had the same swipe effect that the galaxy nexus has where if you swipe it to the side, the next group of apps comes from the back to the front.

1. Sounds like some digging around on facebook/phone settings should change that, I can't see it being off by an hour with no fix..
2. Eh, yeah from up close you're right, this was a gripe from before the phone was even released. I guess I don't mind cause I use my phone more for business not multimedia..while it is slightly noticeable, its still a great screen. Some will notice/care more than others.
3. Havent had this happen personally but I have read other people experiencing the same thing. Since its a known issue I'm sure HTC will release a fix (or an XDA Rom cook)
4. Move files from .nomedia to a different (music) folder on your device.
4.5. Not uncommon for a phone to not support flac by default, search for flac in android market there's plenty of free and paid options to use.
5. That's the default android launcher, because you're running sense its a different app drawer. Download Apex launcher for an AOSP style launcher (you will loose Sense widgets, but it will seem more like Galaxy Nexus).
6. The notification you're getting is from Beats, its a little red B icon. Just letting you know its 'enhancing' your sound. Don't know if you can change this...
7. Yeah tons of crap on this thing..no choice but root. It's pretty easy, most time is spent downloading the files. Rest is a piece of cake. (Note you will have to factory reset to unlock bootloader from HTC, so you will loose everything. Make sure you backup first if you do this).
8. Root, install Noble Rom or mod in development forum to remove dots.
Overall there are fixes and workarounds for most of it, or atleast will be soon. If you like the nexus flash an AOSP Rom and stick with the HTC metal build IMO, unless the screen is that big of a deal, then Nexus.
Good luck, let me know if I helped at all

my biggest gripe is that it is terrible at multitasking. Often times I will be doing simple tasks like browsing the web and I will press the home button and the phone has to reload the home screens. It is very annoying. The phone is pretty snappy but my old Samsung vibrant never had such problems with multitasking. I think it must be sence being so heavy.

My Ville is just fine but some people have issues with theirs.
You get 2GB for apps and about 10GB for your "SD card". It's really not a huge deal. I use Spotify and Google Music so I don't have to keep much on the phone anyways.
Sounds just fine by the way.

Decided not to go with One S. 10gb is too low, since my offline gps software eats almost 4gb leaving only 6gb for me. I'll stick with sgs2 and wait for next best thing..Thanks guys..
BTW all the other issue if any, seems to be on software side which would be fixed already with custom roms or may be fixed soon..HTC has done a good job this time..but too bad they had to leave out SD card and only give 10gb of usable space on phone. If they are claiming 16gb they should have alteast made sure that user has access to 15gb of space especially when there is no option to expand
technically it is 16gb.. 1.7 gb for the ROM, 2.5gb for the apps, 10.5gb left for the user..
however i do think it was a sneaky decision, It should be 16gb left AFTER the space for ROM and apps.

Every company does this. It isn't HTC specifically.

I've had mine almost a week now and only had a few small issues.
1: Swype, which has already been mentioned
2: Pandora isn't working for me. It will play a song, start the next song and about 5 seconds in it skips on its on. Plays the next song completely then repeats. I have an email into the dev on it. (If anyone else has had this issue or knows whats causing it, I would be eternally grateful, im an addict)
3: Google music locked my phone up for about 5 minutes the other day while listening in my car.
4: Misc apps not being supported yet (but its to be expected on a newer version of the software)
My only other issue is that I'm just not a huge fan of sense, but atleast 4.0 is tolerable for now until an official release of cyanogen comes out.

That would be a bad workaround IMHO. For a start, there is no folder named .nomedia - there are many multiples of folders where Google Music store the files, and each one will have a .nomedia file in there. Plus, moving the files out would possibly make Google Music re-download the offline files etc. Causing duplication of space used and the need to repeat the process in its entirety if you wanted to pull more files down.

Phone is great, ive had a couple of random reboots and twice where it says its preparing sim!?
overall fantastic phone, some moan about the screen its not up to the one x screen but its far better than the sensation screen with the mods they have done, battery life has been a major bonus for me easily get a full day from it. As other say its very snappy, my friend has a one x and on most things weve tested in real use terms there is no obvious difference in performance.
Best phone i've had bar none.
Hi Everyone,
Currently using the ViperX ROM, and loving the ability to toggle minfree on the fly. This isn't exclusive to this ROM but I've always had a problem playing music on the One-X, which I find amusing.
Basically if I open the player, and background it, it'll randomly kill itself. I might get 30 seconds out of it, I might get an hour.
Not only that, but I pretty much can't use anything else. If I go on a webpage - dead. Music killed.
What are the optimal settings for keeping my backgrounded apps alive? I'm happy enough to lose some 'free' RAM in order to constantly keep my music alive, even if I have to manually kill it I'm okay with this.
Any advice would be much appreciated. Thanks everyone.

Wrong Forum. ViperX is for the International One X, not the LTE One XL

What music player are you using? Either the app itself or the ROM might be the problem, I'd say nandroid and then flash something else to see if you have the same problem.
I don't know how I keep doing this, keep getting into the wrong forums! Really sorry about that
As for the music player, it happens with a few different ones. The one I use most is actually a YouTube streamer - it streams the audio without the video, and works backgrounded too.
Long shot here, bit have you checked settings, developer options for kill back ground apps after so many are running or kill stuff not on screen..?
If not something like that, it's over my head.
