[Q] WM5 to Android: How to Transfer Contacts? - General Questions and Answers

Hey! So I want to migrate my contacts from my Treo 700wx running Windows Mobile 5 to my new myTouch 3G. One problem: I can't find my Treo's data transfer cable. Is there any other way I can sync my contacts to Outlook?
If you know other methods in doing this, please share.
Thanks!

use Sprite Migrate http://www.spritesoftware.com/products/migrate/how-does-it-work-

You can also try using a CSV file, upload to google/Gmail and then on your new phone, good luck...

PIM Backup 2.5
here it is
I find it easier to just let it sync with outlook after a rom upgrade. you will get all your contacts and mails back.
but make sure to use the pimbackup to keep your sms messages and call logs etc.

My push email server and pim backup started conflicting with each other after a few rom flashes so now only my email syncs with the server...I backup everything else via Pim Backup.

Hi,
I want to transfer my contacts, note ... from my old PDA2 (WM 2003 SE) to new Nokia 6220 Classic (S60 on Symbian). I have exported my contacts to some files such as .csv .txt .vcf by outlook but the Nokia communicator software dose not import said files and says "The contacts cannot be imported. Check the file format"
Thanks to help me.

It's not a WinMo phone, right? contact your service provider. Most have the means to conduct PIM transfers between incompatible phones. Most will also charge you for the luxury. I think it's usually worth it not to have to retype every contact, when you have over a hundred...

Bringing in Contacts from Tilt to Fuze

I should be getting a Fuze shortly and wanted to know if using PIMbackup would copy the contacts and messages over to the Fuze with no problem?
Or what is the best way to bring over the contacts complete? (since I have emails, addresses, etc- so no SIM transfer)
pim back up works well. ive never has a problem and works for more than contacts. or you could use active sync.

so importing from the Tilt to the Fuze using PIM backup works without any issues?
contacts works fine
but for my messages when i restore it does them all received first then sent in threaded so i dont bother
A couple more options for ya...
I always use my exchange server to back up my contacts/calendar. Just put the ES info in Activesync on your Fuze and it'll load everything automatically. Mail2web is a good free server.
Or you can just copy the "pim" file from the root directory of your Tilt to a storage card, and then replace the one on your Fuze with it.

[Q] How to transfer contacts/calender from Treo to HTC Fuze

Hey everyone, is it possible to transfer my contacts, calender, and all my data from a Treo 700wx running WM5 to the new HTC Fuze running WM6.1?
Has anyone done it?
Thanks.
have you tried PPCPimBackup?
The best thing out there, IMHO, is Sprite Backup v. 6.5. The Fuze comes stock with v. 6.2, but you can get the upgrade price. Before you do that, though, what are you using for contacts, calendar, etc? If you're connecting to Outlook via Activesync, then just establish a new partnership for your Fuze and it will sync all your data.

Hi, I just downloaded PPCimBackup.exe
But when I try to run it on my PC, a message pops up saying it's not a valid Win32 application.
I'm running Windows Vista
all i normally do is copy pim.vol from the phones directory to a card then use total ommander to moved it to the new phone and over write the old one.

[Q] Importing data from Windows Mobile?

Hello all,
I've purchased today an HTC Inspire via eBay, and i was wondering, is there a way to transfer my data (contacts/sms/other stuff) from Windows Mobile 6.5 (previous HTC Touch Pro 2) to the Inspire's Android system?
Thank you

Don't know if you can transfer sms though. Pics and music can be transferred using the USB cord.
To export contacts you could use Thunderbird.
It does a fairly good job exporting WinMo contacts to CSV. Pending how many iterations of MS Exchange Servers you went through you may have to edit the Excel (CSV) file or edit the contacts later on in google's contact manager. If you decide to edit the CSV it's a little bit trial and error before everything fits to googles format but it's worth the effort (I have ~1200 contacts and had to edit perhaps 150 manually after the import). SMS's will be lost, pictures can be copied manually.
Thanks, all... but on the emotion of having my htc inspire with me, i didn't even back up my contacts
If you sync with Outlook, HTC sync will work with syncing contacts & calendar. It may cause duplication though.
For sms, install SMS backup on both winmo & android.
Outlook task won't sync though.
