Temp Warning on dead battery in less than 6 hours? - Captivate General

First day of a new job so I put my phone on a Work profile using PhoneWeaver (paid). Had the phone vibrate a few times telling me I had emails, and then one last time telling me the battery was almost dead, then it died. Had 6 hours of life out of it, not even joking.
Once I got to the car to charge it and head home, the phone went into the display where the battery icon shows up and the phone is off, but flashed a yellow warning triangle with a red thermometer next to it on the right side of the battery. Wish I had a camera on me to take a picture, but I immediately pulled the battery door off and placed it on an A/C vent on the car, and the phone died again since it wasn't connected to the charger anymore.
When I finally got the phone home and charging, I went to the battery status screen to see what was draining the battery, and even though it was showing what was going on since the power cycle, it showed the Display was accountable for 94% - still not convinced, I went to my PhoneWeaver settings to see if the Work profile had Wifi or GPS on the whole day, and it didn't have anything out of the ordinary. Only thing I can come up with is that when the emails and texts came in and I didn't check them, my phone unlocked in my pocket and left the screen on the whole day.
Has anyone else seen the overheating / temp warning screen on the battery status level display when the phone is off? What caused it in your situation? I have a hard time believing that if I wear heavy khaki shorts as I've been doing since I got the phone on the 19th, the phone won't unlock and in turn won't overheat, but when I wear dress pants on my first day of work at a new job, the phone unlocks, runs the display all day, and my lightweight slacks make the phone overheat????
sorry for the long narrative, I just wanted to give all the details of what happened in case anyone has any advice or similar experiences.... thanks in advance!

never, i recommend restoring factory settings and using it as is for a day and see if this happens again. It could be something you installed. If you have a similar experience, return your phone and get a replacement.
make sure they replace your battery incase it got fked from the overheating caused by the phone.

well, day two of work and my phone is just now at 20 percent, 14 hours later, lots of texts and emails and everything else

Love The Phone but...Battery Rant

Hey Guys,
I am usually just a silent observer on the boards and try and gain knowledge from all these amazing developers but my experience last night has pushed me to vent. I live Atlanta, and a Vendor had offered us some suite tickets to the Falcons Ravens game. Of course I would take those. Knowing this phone does not get the best battery life, I made sure to have the phone fully charged before I departed. I left the office at 5pm with a full charge. Throughout the night I would send a txt here and there and take a photo, nothing too strenuous I thought. As the game was coming to an end I looked down and saw that the phone was already in the yellow, not terrible since it should last me till I get to the car. I’m not thrilled because this means the phone charge has only lasted 6 hrs. I get off the mass transit station and go for my car key…..and it’s not there. I check all my pockets to find nothing. I am now screwed. No car, no phone, no charger. To cut the story short, I had to find a payphone (needle in a haystack) and call collect to my father, who has the only spare key. Needless to say he was not too please coming down at 2 am to get me out of the jam. I am just so furious that the phone died so quickly on me. It seems if I ever go out at night, if I’m not near a charger, that phone is dead within hours. Sorry for the rant, but its just the one major flaw about this phone. My old Tilt would last a couple days ( I know I know, small screen low processor) But a solid day out of these phones would be nice.
Do you manage the battery consumption by turning off unneeded features such as Bluetooth and Wi-Fi? Have you set the screen timeout to a few seconds of idle time? The display is the biggest consumer of battery power. Finally, when I know I'll be away from a power source for more than 6 hours, I put a fully charged spare battery in my pocket.
FYI the Galaxy S has one of the best batteries for a smart phone. With careful use and battery management, I routinely get 16 hours before a yellow warning.
I had much of your same problem in the first few weeks of having the captivate, prompting me to go buy two extra batteries and a charger off ebay ($10). I feel that upgrading to cognition 2.2 and using the task manager to stop facebook and such from always updating has saved a lot of life, and my phone will last a day to a day and a half on a single charge, so long as I put it into flight mode at night. then I just shut the phone down, switch out batteries, and turn it back on.
I have the screen set at the lowest possible brightness (11%). When i am out i never have bluetooth or wifi on. Perhpas there was a runaway app that was draining the battery. I have never gotten 16 hrs though. My max is about 12, and thats if i dont make any phone calls. You start making calls, it just kills the battery life on my phone. I did use to have a spare battery on my tilt, i might have to do the same with this phone.
It's most likely because your phone is not sleeping when the screen is off.
Download the "Spare Parts" app or just enter *#*#4696#*#* in your dialer and check out the "Battery History". If the Running % is almost full (around 80%-100%) during a day's use, your phone isn't sleeping when the screen is off which means battery is draining. Give it a reboot when that happens, but the known cause I've found was that WiFi causes this issue.
Are you sure you weren't losing signal when you were in the arena? When you lose signal the phone constantly searches for a signal causing your battery you drain.
I know in arenas you don't get a strong signal...
Just a thought
Turn on airplane mod when ur not really using your phone..
I have a great battery life. Especially when not using HSUPA. Try deleting your battery stats.
I typically see 12 to15% per hour drain with constant use.... meaning display is on all the time and I am on internet, phone laying idle overnight... 1%/hr tops. I do have a nice signal at home though... ranges from –70 to –85 so the modem is not working hard at all.

[Q] Did my phone just brick itself?

On Sunday evening my phone was at about 60% battery from a full day, which was pretty impressive considering I had been played some games, responding to texts constantly and checking email. I decided to not plug in my phone that night to see how much battery life I could actually get continuing into the next day. I woke up the next morning and my battery had not dropped a %. At first I was ecstatic because I finally thought my battery woes were over....I was wrong.
As soon as I left the house Monday morning on my way to class, while streaming pandora, my phone alerted me of 'low battery'. I checked my battery again and it now said 58%. I assumed this was normal because streaming pandora does consume quite a bit of battery. Less than a minute later my phone shut off completely. I did not have a charger with me so I was not able to plug the phone in again til later that afternoon. When I did plug it in, the battery was was completely drained, at 1%. I'm assuming for some reason the status of my battery was not being updated correctly via my battery widget and through settings -> about phone -> status.
I fully charged my phone that same day and had no problems using it last night or even this morning. But on my way home today from class, my battery was at 70% which is normal for me, but for some reason it just completely shut off. No battery warning or anything. When I arrived at home today I tried pulling the battery and plugging it in the the charger and everything else I could think of. Even charging via my laptops usb. Nothing seems to be working.
The phone is not rooted and everything is completely stock. I don't any apps that effect the performance of the phone or anything of the sort. Just stock running adw.
Any suggestions before I call up T-mobile?
Thanks in advance for those who read this whole thing and provide useful feedback
EDIT: Also, I have not used any HDMI cables on this device. I read some people are experiencing similar issues when using HDMI, that is not the case here.
Call TMobile.
I'd say call t-mobile like ^
I did just that.
I was hoping someone could have provided a solution to this but I believe this is due to hardware failure. Lost lots of important photos/texts :\
I went to the T-mobile store today and even tried a new battery but the phone still wouldn't power on. They will be sending me a new one within the next week.
Which leads me to believe that T-mobile is in fact not "out of stock" as they claim to be in all of their stores and on their website. Definitely some quality control going on as they are holding back on selling this phone til the GB update.

Battery question. Dieing when powered off

Ok I have searched and not found anything like this yet so I am going to ask. I know the phone has battery problems all around for a lot of people. Mine seems to be fine when it is on. It can sit and idle powered on all day locked and stay at full charge. It runs about 10 hours with minimal use and maybe 8 hours with some data use and a few calls and texts. Now I am experiencing a wired problem. When I go to work we cannot have cell phones. I leave my phone in my locker and power it off. After my 12 hour shift is up at work I come back to the phone with a dead battery? What could be causing this? And has anyone else noticed this issue?
defective battery? pull the battery and see if it still does it. If it does, gotta be a defective battery.. if it doesn't do it when pulled, you're not shutting off the phone maybe?
Yesterday I tried leaving the battery out. I took the battery out and let it sit 12 hours and it still had full charge when I put it back in. When I go to work I long press on the power/lock button and choose Power off then I watch it shut down and it just dies before I come back. I wish I could watch it the whole time. Today I left the phone off for around 6 hours and came back and it was fine though. Maybe it gets turned on some how at work. I have no idea. Or when I go to power it on it is just the issue where the phone isn't reading battery % correctly and it just says 0%
Seems like a battery driver issue or a defective battery? definitely call t-mobile and check if it's the battery. I've had some issues as well, but not that bad.
Weird.
So the phone powers off after you turn the screen on and it won't come back on? Try putting the phone in airplane mode.
Also, I'm assuming you are running the stock roms?
Might also want to check into a battery monitor to see if any 1 thing is pulling it down.
I think it might just be the battery driver. Sounds like the phone is in suspend so it doesn't power off properly until the screen is turned on and is revived, updating the battery % status, seeing 0%, and turning off.
CM7 fixed the wonky battery issue a few nights ago. Right now, I think a current CM based rom is the best bet as it has most of the drivers fixed. I'ved used mine pretty heavily today, unplugged at 8am and I just got a 15% battery warning at 11:30pm. It will usually last until I go to bed at midnight but I might want to play with it some more.

Battery reducing 10% in 1 hour after update and incident

I had an incident with the watch. Went on swiming pool and barbecue all day long. The water lock mode was on.
After some hours the watch turned off.
Then I started to charge it and for some reason it was dead. (red light blinking). I was able to see micro particles of water inside the back of the watch.
I placed it on rice and next day it turned on. But all sensors were dead.
Reset and nothing.
Then I left it turned off at the charger for like 12 hours and I can back to life.
In the middle of the process the update came along. I tried to install it hoping to get sensors back.
After everything the battery last about 10 or 12 hours.
Even when in "battery save mode" it wont last longer.
When I charge it, when it hits 100% instead of green light, sometimes it keep charging for a while.
I 'm not sure if the battery needs calibration or if it is something else.
I tried to *#0228# at dial and I can see battery information. But I dont have parameter to compare
What to do?
Sending to samsung is not an option. I bought it in another country and they don't offer services.
Have you fix it?

Galaxy Fold Z2 battery dropping to zero from 50%

Hey fourm, sorry for the long read but if anyone is technically savvy with batteries or voltages/electrical components please read! this might not be specific to a Fold but any device may suffer from what my device is suffering from.
I have recently had issues with my Galaxy Fold Z2 and it unexpectedly dropping to 0% charge, the first time this happened yesterday i was in an application and was switching from the larger display into the smaller one, upon closing the display the phone shut down and i wasn't able to get anylife out of the phone except a vibration when holding the power button, but nothing on the screen. I had about 35% battery at the time but all of a sudden it was at 0, after putting it on the charger it spring back into life. Today however i experienced an even worse problem... My battery was around 55% and i was connecting my phone to my cars bluetooth and importing contacts to the cars console, suddenly the battery went from 55% down to 9% instantly! i was shocked and took a screenshot of the battery graph showing its gradual decline from 100% to 55% but not to 9% to highlight the sudden drop, the battery status on the top of the notification bar was showing 9% all of a sudden but the graph wasnt just to actually see the drop! after that drop in battery it only took about a 30 seconds for that 9% of battery to jump down to 1% again in an instant fashion, following this only a few seconds later it shut down.I was thinking it could just be a dodgy battery for whatever reason but after trying to charge my phone after this sudden crash from 55%-9%-Flat i was unable to charge it up. The phone would signify that it was charging but not giving me a percentage, it would show the charging animation (the animation you get when phone is off and charging) but would only last for around 3-5 seconds before shutting off again and showing the charging icon again, and then shutting off again and rinse and repeat on a loop without charging but attempting too and resetting every few seconds! So for about an hour i couldnt get it to boot/charger properly and i almost gave up, but i decided to try a different charger, i was using the 25w supplied charger but i switched to a 15w older one and the phone ran the charge animation again however this time it identified the battery was charged at 55% rather that it not showing any charge level and resetting and trying again as it did before, this time it went right to 55% and from here the phone booted up and is working normally again!
Im really not sure whats wrong, im starting a process to send the phone back but i really wish to know whats wrong with my device! if anyone has any clue to this strange behaviour please let me know!
