I transferred a bunch of music over using MediaMonkey, but most albums are missing album art. All the folders have a *.alb file, but no album cover shows up when i use the music player.
I have used MP3tag to view my tags, but nothing stands out as bad. 2 albums with all fields filled in, one shows album art, the other doesn't. Out of 20 albums i transferred over, only 4 show album art.
Any ideas?
Thanks
EDIT - other issues include "unknown artist" and it seems to be M4A files (AAC) Only.
I too use mediamonkey and the best way to have album art show for a song is to embed that art directly into the song's file. To do this in mediamonkey, sort by album, then highlight all songs of the same album and right click and press auto-tag from web. It will try to find the album art and you will embed it directly into the song. That way any media player will be able to show the album art.

I have done this and then re-synced. I see the tracks copied over - but still no album art. Very strange.
Solved it - also the unknown artist issue.
If I used MP3Tag and remove all tags, then save the files. Then use MP3tag to add new tags (pulled from Amazon); then save; then copy to phone all is good.
For some reason, Media Monkey is NOT refreshing what it sees, so it is not really copying the retagged files over to the device. Even if do a rescan, it isn't updating. Changing tags in MediaMonkey was not fixing it either.
Also, updating tags in MP3tag was not fixing it - i had to remove, save, add, save.

To add custom CD covers for music in TF3D, you need to first create the image in 256x256 w/ 82 DPI. Title the file ~hTC_<Album Name Goes Here>.jpg and move it into your My Music folder on your Fuze. Once it's there, go in and set the properties to hidden on the album cover.
Now, to get the image to show up on music that's already loaded onto your Fuze, just load each song individually. As of now, that's the only solution I've found for making the images show up. Any other hints or tips will be added to this first post as I see them. Feel free to post your own.
Apparently you can also embed the album art on your PC and it will tag along wherever the MP3 is moved to. (Thanks Kerensky97)

For instance when I add some Shinedown songs from the new Us and Them album, the cover is there but when I put James Blunt on, I get the standard empty one. Anyway you can assign images to all your music?

I have noticed that most music players require that you place an album cover photo in .jpg format and name the cover either "folder" or "cover". Place the ablum cover in a folder with your music. Some players will show some of the embedded album art but not all of the embedded album art. Using the method I mentioned above works for most players.
Separate your music into seperate folders (I separate by album, artist and sometimes by type of music, then place an album cover in .jpg format into the folder and name the album art "folder". All the songs in that folder witht that album art should display that particular album art when playing.
If you put all you mixed songs into one folder and put one album art using the method mentioned above you will always see the same album cover for every song - this is why you will want to separate your music.
This works for me using Windows media player, TCPMP, S2P, and Mort Player.
I'm using the standard music player in TF3D. I have my music sorted into folders by the first letter of the artist but I don't see the same album art for all artists starting with S. I did see the art, I'll try to figure out the format and see if I can finagle it.
I dont have TF3D So I really can't say how it would work for that since I havn't tried it. you can try to embedd the art manually into each song. use something like Media Monkey (which you can download for free) to try embedding album art to you songs. I usually get my album art from this web site
http://www.albumart.org/
All my album art(jpg) is embedded in the MP3 metadata using Mp3tag and it all shows up fine in TF3D. It obviously checks that tag to see if you have it so no need for additional files in your folders (although I wonder which it will prefer if you have both?).
Do it to all your music on your computer and you can copy/paste/cut/rearrange your songs however you want and the art will always follow.
So I'm kind of an exception case for music, where I hunt for all my music via music blogs. The problem with this is that most of the songs I download aren't part of an album, and most of the time are pre releases, or bootlegs.
In these situations how do I organize my music through zune?!
Editing tag information in Zune REQUIRES an album name. Adding albums that don't have an album name are tagged "Unknown Album {Date Added}".
Is there any way to just have the songs without album names hidden? I've even tried using a space, but then it started grouping all of those together as an unknown album .
Other than that do you guys have a particular way in how you organize music?

Uhm. I would just make a bogus album name (aka song name). There's no way to just have album so just do it that way. You can always just look at different ways to look at ur music, by artist, song, etc...

That's what I do for any artist where I have b-sides or demos in addition to the regular albums. I create an album called 'singles' and group all the non-album tracks under those. You could create different albums like this; demos, singles, bootlegs, etc.
hi,
I have a problem with my album list in the player from HTC (the standard player).
i have 3 albums on my sd-cart, 1 album have no problem, but the another 2 have the problem that they stay more than 1 time in the list (see image)
Knows somebody de solution to get all the numbers from that album under 1 album view
Thanks!
Seen that before with my MP3 Players. It was related to the album having different artists for each song, so that when the player would try to sort the albums, it would see them as different ones.
You could try editing the tags of your files so that the artist is the same for each song.
Oke, But what to do if a album have serval artist?
I'm not 100% sure how the HTC music player works but mp3 files typically have ID tags for an album artist and then a track artist. I would try making the "album artist" = Various Artists. See if that helps the music player recognize it as one album.

Thats a good one, i should try!
I have same experience before, it can be fixed by editing the tag, album and song name are from tag, the order of the song also from tag, but it won't display the track# and so I edit each song name with 01, 02 ... also at nearly the bottom of the tag (Windows 7), there something that can separate albums like 1/4, 2/4... if they are different, they will appears in different album.
When you update album art from gracenote, if it doesn't match, recover it to default and choose another song in the album, then update album art according to the song.

I have try it and works! Thank You
Am I putting the music and artwork in the right place? I cant get any music player to display my artist/song art while the song is playing. Song plays fine just without artwork showing.
I have put it in the external_sd directory and the directory above that one... can't seem to get it to work with any music players.
I have my artwork in a folder labeled as "Album Art". Files inside that folder are named as "artist - song.jpg"
I have another folder labeled as "Music". Files inside that folder are named as "artist - song.m4a"
I have tried having all the files (jpg and m4a) in 1 folder called "Music" .. nothing works... I don't want to embed the pictures ... would take forever .. and I don't want to have separate folders/sub-folders for each artist and album by that artist... as I have lots of one-hit-wonders.
Any ideas from anyone would be appreciated.
Which music player are you using? I tag artwork to the actual metadata of the songs which works flawlessly

I've tried winamp, mixzing, poweramp, android music player, doubletwist... etc.
None of my music has tags.. I have media monkey and Mp3Tag.. what do I do to associate the two files?
ok.. made tags that include artist and title from the filename of the song using mp3tag

If you're using media monkey the best thing is to highlight a album or songs, press shift+enter, then go to artwork and save the photo to the file and not folder. It should work after that
Seems to be working a little better having tags on the music... but when I play songs it shows the first albumart it reads for all songs of the band no matter if the song is from different album... I'm just trying to get it to show the correct albumart for the song playing.. at least it is showing the correct artist for the song now

With media monkey clean out the artwork, go to the artwork tab and delete the ones you don't need and set the correct art to front cover. Make sure if you are doing the shift+enter I mentioned that you are only doing it for albums and not artists or it will put the same xd cover for all songs by artist instead of just the album
I have ALL of my music in just one folder titled "music"... will that still work? .. I'll try it out and report back

Is anybody else having issues with the stock MIUI Music Player reading tags?
I can not get the music player to reliably read the tags in my mp3 files.
All of my music is tagged meticulously in iTunes. All info present along with Album Art which is embedded. All tags set to ID3 version 2.3.
No matter how I export/import the music into my Mi 4c the tags are never read correctly. The player never sees the Album Name, and always sets all Album Names to the Artist Name. It never sees the Album Art and just gets a random image from where I do not know. Probably the Mi Marketplace.
The closest I can get to have it working is to convert all my tags to ID3 version 1.0. Re-embed my artwork. Be sure the Album Artist field is empty then import. If I do this then SOME of the Album Art is recognized and most of the Album Names are set correctly. But not all. With a 20,000+ plus song library I do not want to go through the tedious task of re-tagging the songs I want on the phone so they display correctly. I really like the clean lines and simple layout of the stock music player but unless it reads these tags it is useless.
Hi, I have similar issues. All my music are ogg files tagged with EasyTag. MIUI Music Player can't read Artist Name and Album Art. Other tags are OK. VLC can read all tags without problems.
