I'm just curious to see what everyone thinks are the must have apps for their EVO.
So what are some of your favorite apps? Any you use everyday without fail? (Dailer? )
Also talk about the app, what does it do that makes it so cool? Your experiences?

Tasker App
The tasker app as seen on lifehacker.com. It's an app that allows you to run tasks on your phone automatically. For example, you can set it up so it turns the gps on and off anytime you run a gps based program. Or even set it to locations like, turns on the wifi when your at home. Check out the post on lifehacker. It'll explain it better.
Swype - keyboard
adw.launcher - to replace sense
Digital Clock Widget -because i dont use sense

AudioManager Pro - Gives me full control over volume settings that is quickly accessible. Great for moments of unexpected media audio when I'm stealthily web browsing at work.
Advanced Task Manager - Less useful since Froyo, but great for seeing how much more memory I have now.
QuickDesk - Brilliant little app that lets you access up to twenty shortcuts or widgets without leaving whatever program you're using.
KeePassDroid - Very functional password manager with easy options to copy passwords or user names to the clipboard.
Handcent - SMS replacement, very powerful, makes it much easier to read conversations.

No prob! I've been using it for a bit and am still amazed at the quality and overall simplicity of the app.
Shoot me, just found out about this one and its amazing.
TicTacToe... In the market. This app is not your childhood game but instead a brilliantly hidden browser to be used for viewing certain things. FTW
FakeFirefox - Simply a shortcut to the stock browser with a FF icon
MortPlayer Music + Widget - Great little music player that sorts songs by folder rather than artist/album etc. A little tip is to put the album cover in each folder under Folder.jpg
Quickboot - Lets you create shortcuts to bootloader, reboot and recovery for one click access.
Bloo - Facebook replacement which has an awesome notification system that flashes blue with the newer CM releases
Tallybee
The program is very simple, but the idea is very neat.
Connectoo. Fun game!
bTunes Music Player (includes widget) - ever wanted to show off to your iPhone friends? Make them surprised when you show them that you, an Android user, can have the same UI/functionality of the iPhone's music player with just one download of an app.

Midomi SoundHound - What's that song? Hear it and identify it FAST with SoundHound - just hold your phone up to a speaker, and SoundHound names the tune in as little as five seconds! It even works if you sing or hum the melody.
TorrentFu - Great if you do alot of torrenting like i do. Not only can you monitor your torrents on your home PC, you can scan barcodes, or search for items, and have the torrent sent and downloaded on your home PC (Barcode scanner integrated).
Handcent (NEW) - By far, the best SMS/MMS app on the market. blows the stock MMS to shreds.
OurGroceries - Not just your everyday Grocery/List manager. SYNC in real-time with your spouses (or whomever) phone, cross sync with iPhone users. Allows you to enter (or delete) items to/from your list, and in real time, your spouse (or whoever) will see the changes.
My Tracks - GREAT for hikers/bikers. Track, map, and get stats for your hiking/biking trips.
Surveyor - GREAT measuring tool. This is one that few will have a need for, but those that need, don't know this exists, and is GREAT.
TuneWiki - My personal favorite for playing local (SD) music, as well as shoutcast.
and you cant leave out Pandora. Just a great personalized radio. Once you get some artists setup into your station, it really does tune to what you like. Another one of those you gotta really try it before you pass judgment.
SubSonic is a GREAT program to easily stream your music from your PC to your phone. It even has an offline option to play music you downloaded later without a data connection. The server on your PC is incredibly light and doesn't drag on system resources like all other server programs I've ever used before. Now I can easily browse through and enjoy my 450GB music collection from nearly anywhere on the go!
Excellent idea for this thread btw.
My app suggestion is Twicca, an incredibly full function yet light and appealing GUI for twitter.

How does that compare to Shazam? Sounds like it does basically the same job so I wondered if you'd tried both?
For UK users I quite like ASBOrometer. It gives your current location a rating based on the level of anti-social behaviour! Based on official government stats.
Google Sky Map is awesome on the Nexus as well. Gives you a full mapping of the stars with their names and constellations using gps, compass and accelerometer so you can point it at the stars above you and see what they are. Really cool
Personally ChompSMS is my favorite SMS app, but my recommendation is definitely Screebl Pro, detects when your phone isn't at a level that is classified as laying down on a bench or something, and keeps your phone's screen on until the phones sensor detects it's been placed down or something. Fully customization, and saves battery life, because you can set your screen timeout to the lowest with this app enabled.
Slacker Radio.
Some essentials in my sig but also I recommend:
AdFree (€0) - I don't need to see another religious ad
aiSystemWidget (€€) - Great stats widget and even better app including history
AppBrain (€0) - Just started using it but I love the recommendations
Apps Organizer (€0) - Awesome for sorting apps into folders
AutoKiller (€0) - Set and forget memory management
Better Cut (€€) - Give yourself the desktop you want
Dolphin Browser (€0) - Still the fastest and most functional browser IMHO
ES File Explorer (€0) - Should be mandatory for root users, best file manager there is
Mini Info (€0) - Another great stats widget
NewsRoom (€€) - Best RSS reader out there
MyBackupPro (€€) - Now supports apk backups and system data backups
QuickBoot (€0) - Reboot, Recovery or Bootloader all with one click
Settings Profiles (€€) - Fun, functional but still deciding on whether it's essential
ShootMe (€0) - Screen caps
Wallpaper Set & Save (€0) - Great for hi resolution wall papers
Pure Music Widget (€€) - Pure
Beautiful Widgets (€€) - Beautiful
And there are others but this is the 'pack' that I install immediately after any flash.
And perhaps not necessary for this thread but here you go anyway:

CalenGoo was originally an iOS app and seems to have made the transition quite nicely. Widgets need a bit of work. For a calendar app with Google calendar functionality, I have yet to find an equal.
And if you're a 'reader' like me, who gets most of their info from tons of feeds, than gReaderPro is the perfect app. Have tried most of them and this is easily the most stable and well balanced one out.
ADWLauncher EX is also a great alternative launcher to check out. Smooth and full of options.
Google Docs is also key, perfect and lite.
Seesmic for lite Twitter users is nice, as well.

Hey, it's me again. You may be using my apps like Mario Live Wallpaper, Video Live Wallpaper, or WiimoteController. This time I come with a completly free (early) Christmas present to you guys at xda-devs and all other users of my apps!
I present to you... App Dialer
App dialer is an app launcher that can be used to find installed apps and start them very quickly. Today's Android devices have a lot of memory that users often spend on apps and games. Some users have as much as 400 applications installed on their device and navigating a list of apps or swiping between screens and screens of app icons just to find one can take a lot of time.
App Dialer can be used to quickly filter a large list of apps down to just a few or even just one item in just a few seconds.
There are a few app launching apps out there but what sets App Dialer from the rest is the way app list is filtered. Instead of using an awkward on-screen QWERTY keyboard, App Dialer comes with a built-in numeric keyboard. You can just dial out apps' names just like you would dial a spellable phone number. Button 2 represents A, B or C, button 3 represents D, E or F, and so on. Want the Browser? Dial 2769737 (spelled "browser"). Want the Gallery? Dial 4255379 (spelled "gallery"). It is that easy!
Having a numeric keyboard means having big, easy to hit buttons that can be hit quickly and accurately with only one hand. The app list updates and shrinks as you dial so there is a great chance that you will not have to dial the complete name before the app is already going to appear on the top of the list. With some practice (you might already have years of practice writing SMS messages this way) you will be able to launch any app on your device in three seconds or less, regardless of how many apps you have installed.
App Dialer highlights:
easy to use
can be started by long-pressing the search button (if your device has it)
can be started via a notification icon
starts fast, can be made even faster by turning off icons
quick dial for up to 10 favorite apps
pin selected apps to the top of the list
donation-supported, but otherwise free and ad-free!
This app is completly free. However it is donation-supported like all of my other apps. If you find it useful, please consider donating.

Sorry about double posting, but I've just made another update. Details in the second post.
How is the importance order set? Does it keep a count of which app we choose more when we click them in app dialer? Great feature! It has really improved the speed and relevance of the result, I rarely use my app drawer thanks to this app

No, it's simpler than that. It is a combination of the alphabetical order and the position of the match (ie. the sooner the match is found in the app's name, the more important that app will be).
How can I make this the default app over the Google search box apk?. I move it to system and rename but still wants the long press to active the app.
We've just updated Tagy and we hope you'll like it. Please share your thoughts and suggestions!

Tagy is a new bundle of widgets that organize apps, contacts, bookmarks and settings into tag clouds on your home screen.
Tag cloud items will change color and size based on click frequency, allowing important items to stand out and unimportant items to fade. So your favorite items will be highlighted for faster access.
Tagy Settings and Tagy Google Services are Tagy widgets that present shortcuts to your system settings and links to Google mobile services and apps as tag clouds.
Use cases
Tag cloud user interface lets you to::
• Instantly access your content without scrolling or browsing folders;
• Obtain insights about usage patterns by locating infrequently used content such as unused apps or inactive contacts as well as favorite items; and
• Save space – one tag cloud can contain five times more items than a regular icon grid.
Features
Tagy is very friendly to your system:
• It consumes minimum system resources;
• It does not affect battery life;
• It needs only basic permissions; and
• It supports custom launchers and themes.
Tagy also supports portrait and landscape orientation.
Tagy widgets are free (main widgets pack is trial).
To go to the Tagy download pages, please see the QRs attached.

Thank you! Have you tried the text links I pasted? Since I'm a newbie member, I can't paste hyperlinks.
Frequently asked question:
Q: Are tags clickable?
A: Yes, you can click on tags to launch corresponding apps, contacts or bookmarks. Also, as you click them, tags will change size and color.

Some might, not me. I use NoWallpaper (black) with just the color text.
New version will not let me update apps. I have three app screens, and do not want to enable new apps on all, so they are all unchecked. Then after I install an app, I cannot go to the app widget where I want it and add it.
I've just looked at it and it should add new apps to the list, but they will be unchecked if you uncheck the Add new apps automatically mark. Note that installed app needs to have a launcher activity (be present in your apps list) to be added to the widget.
Awesome widget, thx
Tagy_ said:
Old version has similar behavior. It's by design now, but we'll change it in the future. We thought that if you uncheck the Add apps automatically mark, then you don't want updates for that widget, but that's not how it goes for many users.

I do want to selectively add apps, but my choice, and not automagically (sic).
I've just looked at it and it turns out we've already implemented what I have described So you should see all your installed apps in the widgets apps list, either you turn the Autoadd option on or off. The only difference is when this option is off, the new app will be unchecked in the list. But note that installed app needs to have a launcher activity (be present in your apps list) to be added to the widget.
Can you specify what app does not show in the widgets apps selection? Or maybe you could try to install any ordinary app from the market and see whether it will show up.

It is/was GMail, flashed in recovery, GApps and an ICS alpha ROM. After some reboots it shows up, but then Play Store just updated itself and it is gone from Tagy and I cannot get it back.
It might be the alpha ROM doing it. I will try again when I restore my normal ROM and see.
