How to Display Multiple Levels of Favorites Folder - General Questions and Answers

I have about 200 favorites and I manage them in several level deep of folders on my main PC. Lately, I've been syncing with my HTD HD2 and I'm only seeing the favorites in the root and first level of folders!
Is there a way to display more folder depths or is there are favorites management software for WM?
Thanks,
g

An organized life with your Pocket PC

Hello PocketPC guys !!
I was wondering how I could get my life more efficient using my Pocket PC. A Pocket PC is a great way to organize one's life, isn't it ?
How to use your Pocket PC to help you in daily work ? What tool do you use ? What tool would you like to use ?
Personally, I am using my PocketPC for this:
- As a task manager: I use Pocket Informant. I like the fact that you can have it sync with Outlook, but I am not happy with the fact that you can not make hierarchical tasks.
- As a diary: I use Pocket Informant
- to track my personal finance: with Cash Organizer. I have used Spb Finance for a long time, but I had lots of problem with it, so I moved to Cash Organizer, and I am pretty happy with it. I have seen that there is a new Spb Finance version, which works with Windows Vista, but I wonder if this version is stable because the previous one was not stable.
I do not use it for reading my emails, I think I should subscribe for a MS Exchange 2007 account, but I haven't found which one.
Chris
pretty much just pr0n jk
use it as music player
phone of cause
surf
reading books
keeping track on peoples birthdays
a bit of tasks and calander too
Interesting question. Let's see:
1. As a journal for projects (Outlook Tasks, project = category)
2. Password / account info / etc. storage: (Outlook Notes, easy to lookup any info on desktop version)
3. Music Player (Pocket Player + HT820 or Monster's FM transmitter on car)
4. Financial manager (also Cash Organizer)
5. Internet Sharing at home.
6. Email / Chat (Outlook / Yahoo! but will try Fring...)
7. Agenda (Outlook Calendar Today plugin)
8. Camera
9. Gaming (mainly chess and FinalBurn)
10. Astronomy Map on observation nights (Pocket Stars)
11. Some Web Surfing (Opera and PIE+PLUS)
12. Alarm clock (Gentimer)(Yes, I actually threw out my old clock!)
13. Calculator (HP48 Emulator)
.... AND LAST BUT NOT LEAST....
14. Phone!

I haven't yet found a good hierarchical task manager. Although I would love to manage my tasks via Outlook, I find it too much limited: I need a way to organize them in a hierarchy. Are your project organized in a hierarchical order ? or is it a list of flat tasks linked to a project ?

You are like me, you probably haven't be satisfied with the password managers (flexwallet, Spb Wallet, eWallet, ...). I hate the way they are organized: I don't need to have a screen displaying a credit card to understand that this is my credit card number ! just having nice fields that I could customize the way I want would be better.
Anyway take care that no one as access to it.

I have tried Spb Time but wasn't happy with at all: the way to set an alarm is such a crap. I just had a look on the Web about Gentimer, seems to be nice. I will have a look at it. Currently I use the default Windows Mobile clock (!)

What application do you use to read books ? I would love to read pdf on my PocketPC, but the pdf readers I have tried so slow and so badly done (often no fullscreen mode, so when you have a QVGA screen it could useful).

Hello Chris247,
1. You are right, my tasks are just listed under a particular category which is the project. The only other classification is the status of the task. However, I just need to able to search for keywords to find tasks and info, and see which ones are due (red color) in my calendar view.
2. The other problem for me using those password managers is that I need a separate desktop program tp lookup stuff, yet, using notes I can just use the search function in Outlook and get my info FAST! And yes, sometimes I worry about the security of the information...
So the bottom line for me is being able to input the information fast and easy on the ppc, and then be able to search for it fast and easy with the desktop computer and/or the ppc. I use to love my Palm IIIxe from years ago, but at some point I was handling more than 15 projects at a time, which exceeded the maximum categories supported by the palm OS. I even called them once to complaint about it. Back then they said they didn't have plans to change it. LOL! I wonder if they ever did fix that...
i too use hp48 emulator both on my pda and my pc
i just read ebooks with ms's reader it got bookmarks which bothered me that old adope 2 dident
when books are in pdf i got a pc tool to convert it to lit
About the away you manage tasks, maybe you could benefit from PlanPlus for Outlook, I read that they do support hierarchical, I haven't tested it yet.

Back Ground 4 All Tabs - Sync Mobile Contacts Only - What's Up?

Hi all,
Absolutely love the work here.
I've been averaging a weekly rebuild on my HD2.
So much so that I've got a step-by-step instruction folder.
The last rebuild yesterday from a blank home page. Go figure.
I've been looking for a BG4all.cab
for my Dusk Theme GreenGlob.PNG background.
I'll find a BG4All.cab
but it either doens't work at all
or it will install a different background than the one I want
and will sometimes install other things as well.
Just wondering if its really complicated
or are we too busy with more interesting
development work to focus on this issue?
i.e. a BG4All.cab with accompanying graphic of our choice.
Again, just asking. Not criticising at all. Certainly not my place.
-----
I've also been looking for a Sync to Mobile Contacts.
i.e. I've got 300 Contacts in Outlook on my PC.
I have an HD2 I use for contacts that I visit once only.
I would like to sync my HD2 with my OnceOnly contacts catagory from Outlook. And NOT bloat the HD2 with the other 300 contacts.
Anyone know of a way or have a software update to select only certain contacts or catagorys from outlook to Sync?

All my best,
Barry G. Sumpter

[Q] [Android] Best Agenda/Organize/todo-list/Journal/bookmark app

I've always been a confused, badly organized guy, and my head is one big chaotic mess. Since I wont carry a paper agenda all the time, I've recently bought a smartphone (SGS2), mainly to keep things organized and structured.
The problem is, for each task there's a different app. Now I've got a zillion apps, and I wonder if that's the best way to structure/organize things.
I currently use on my android phone:
- Jorte Calender synched with Google Calender.
- Dropbox to sync files between different platforms
- Evernote for my journal/notes/to-do list.
- QuickPic to view my pictures (normal pictures and pictures of paper documents) and video's.
- Opera is my main browser and I use the build-in bookmarker. The bookmarks are synched between my phone and my pc.
- Build in sms/contact Touchwiz app for my contacts
- Gmail app for my mail and mail addresses.
- etc
I want to reduce the number of apps to get things done easier and faster. You guys know any all-in-one apps that are capable of many of the listed tasks? Or could you explain how you structure things?
EDIT: Sometimes I don't even know what app I should use for certain things.
For example: I'd like to make a list with my favorite movies. Should I do this with evernote?
Or: I've got something scheduled and used my calender app for that, but I also need to make a few notes about that appointment. Do I use my calendar, or a notebook app like evernote?
Thanks in advance.
Jochem
What do you guys suggest?
I would just use evernote for everything! Why do you make such a mess with apps? Just get used to ONE app, and you should be fine
There is as of now, no "multi-app" that can do ALL of your tasks. Unfortunatly, I think you'll have to use the apps the way you already are. Unless you want to root your phone, and install a custom ROM that has some sort of "multi-app"

Stock gallery

This tablet is awesome, however the stock gallery app seems to be useless or am I missing something? I bought tablet because of the stylus and photo editing possibilities. I copied my photos from my pc on a micro sd card and inserted it into the note. However the gallery app does not seem to sort the resulting folders in any order, just a random mishmash of dates and names, I'd rather use the stock gallery due to the multi screen support however it is a real chore to find a folder / photo when it's presented randomly....does anyone know how to make the folders sort and appear alphabetically? Or even how the gallery app sorts the folders that photos are in?

That's easy:
Arrange photos in Folders (= Albums) and You have them sorted in Albums. (Which by themselves can be sorted by time, location etc .)
Once You are IN an Album You can sort them by tTime, location, persons or groups

I'm missing something with the gallery, too. I have my photos in folders, and when I have albums selected from the upper-left menu, I see a bunch of randomly sorted "albums." If I choose something else from that menu... say, time, for instance, each item on the screen (each thumbnail) is a group of photos from a specific day. I'd like the folders to be sorted in such a way that makes sense. Ideally, I'd like to sort them by name, as my folders are named with year and month (yyyy_mm). And I'd also like to not see every folder on that main screen, because some of them are inside the yyyy_mm folders. Ideally, I would only see a bunch of thumbnails named yyyy_mm, in chronological order... the way they appear in my folder structure on my PC.
Is this possible?
What I've found out about the stock gallery..........
Firstly there seems to be a limitation on android that it whilst it knows folders are nested, it will not support displaying only the parent folder, rather it displays all the orphan folders, I've tried lots of photo organising apps and they all have this limitation....this is a right pain if you want to sort your folders in logical way without every single folder displayed on the root display
In the stock gallery app the display options are based on..
Place, uses GPS data on the photo
Album, the folder names that your pictures are stored in on the device
People, face tagging which you have to enable on the device and then assign names from your contact directory.
groups, will display face tagged photos in the group's that are set up in your contact directory.
The limitation of face tagging is that you can't just enter a name for a face, it will only use your contacts directory so you have to enter a load of names in your directory to use for this feature, I suggest you make a group for these entries.
The main problem with the stock gallery is that once you have your photos in the gallery displayed in one of the ways detailed above you can not sort them, hide folders or enter manual information such as a location on places.
For my purposes I just want the folders to be displayed as I have them saves in my sd card, I have a parent folder for each year since 2000 within each oh these folders are a series of further folders for each set of pictures such as holiday, wedding etc. I just want my parent folders displayed in the gallery root, sorted by date. This doesn't seem possible as the stock gallery has no sorting options, my albums are displayed with no logic just, it seems, randomly.
I use the excellent quickpic app, which has loads is display and sorting options but has the "can't display only the parents of nested directorys" feature of android.

Wow, that seems like a pretty silly limitation. I would think a lot of people would want to be able to sort the way you described. I organize my photos almost exactly the same way, except that I have a folder for each month. But then, like you, I have subfolders that describe an event. I, too, just want to see the top level. I hope, at some point, someone comes up with an app that does that. In the meantime, I'll try QuickPic, as it seems to have more sorting options and, hopefully, I can at least sort the "albums" in a way that doesn't seem competely random.
Thanks!

Contact folder app

I need an app for my contacts
I have been using folder organizer but I'm looking for something easier to setup
I make 3 groups, work, family, friends. It's about 120 contacts total
I have to go one by one adding the contact to the appropriate group, then I create a shortcut on my home screen for easy access
It's very time consuming to set it up
I'm hoping there is a better solution
Any ideas?
Thanks
I use Outlook and transfer the contacts to my phone. Easy, fast and reliable
