Included earphones echo - Captivate General

Does anyone elses phone echo when using the ear buds?

i personally do not, how would one replicate your experience so i can double check.

mine work fine with no echo at all... at least when listening to music.
is it when you're listening to music? or on the phone? theres an EQ setting that sounds a bit tinny, maybe thats how you have it set?

Both I and my brother have had this problem. We have also had it with iphone ear buds and skull candy ones. So I don't think the issue is the ear phones. It' s better with my new bluetooth but I have heard a slight echo a few times. Typically it seems to be that the person on the other end will hear an echo until I stop using the ear buds.

Yes thats the prob I was having.
It doesn't echo during music or to me, but the person on the other line in echos whenever they speak loudly. I was think both mics were enabled but nope thats not it. I turned off noise cancellation and that didn't fix it either.

Only echo I had was when the person on the other line had me on speakerphone. Doesn't happen with music or any other phone calls for me

doh, really? try ur test again with u guys in rooms in opposite side of house.
try turning off noise cancellation when only using headset speaker

Lol did you skip my thread?
Aight just plugged the headphones into my DroidX and it does the same thing. Whenever it get loud the person you are talking to echos

ah i guess i did. my bad.
ne1 else gettin this?

This is about the earbuds that come with the phone. I have not tried a dif set. Just so you guys know if your trying to reproduce this.

I watch movies w/ them but haven't done phone calls. I'll try some calls later.

So we want to talk extra loud, turn off noise cancellation, and sit in the other room as people? Why?
I don't do any of that, nor does anyone that I talk to. hence I don't get any echoing.

What are you talking about. If you are on a phone call using your earbuds and the person on the other line is talking loud it will echo to them, not you. And if you never talked to anyone on the phone who had to speak loud to overcome background noise then ....
What the other post was talking about was just to reproduce what is happening so we could get to the bottom of it.

generally if we are somewhere that has background noises, our phone calls can wait.
and I don't echo to anyone. nor does anyone else echo to themselves.

Great!
Has anyone tried aftermarket ear buds with mic?

As I said, I have tried multiple after market ear phones with echoes. I believe this is a phone issue and not a problem with the ear phones. The noise cancellation settings perhaps.

Echo on headset
Yeah I have the same echo when using the headset or bluetooth.
Actually the echo is always on the other side all calls I make with headset or bluetooth complain about an echo on thier side. I never get echo for music/videos
If I unplug the headset incall they tell me the echo goes away.
I disabled noise-cancel and enabled it still problem, it didnt do this when I first got it so I deleted all the apps I installed since.. but still doing echo in call.... ugh does anyone have a fix for this?
recommendations?

Can someone test if they get ECHO without noise cancellation enabled

If people call me and I do not have noise cancellation enabled, they will hear what they say echoed back to them.
Can someone else disable noise cancellation, make a test call, then ask the other party to speak and listen closely for an echo. I would appreciate this.
I need to know if I should call samsung up and ask for repair work.
You can see noise cancellation is on by a squigly with a line through visible while in a call. To disable it, in call you press the edit/menu button, and click noise cancellation off.
anyone? it shouldbtakr less then a minute

Do you have your phone in a case if so which case?
I have an Otterbox Defender and the other side gets echo if i use the speaker phone
I just did the test. No echo for me either way.
Details of test: I called my office number from my cell phone. I then put it in a drawer and started talking from my office phone. Everything sounded fine. I then got my cell phone out of my drawer and set noise cancellation off. Put it back in the drawer and started talking again. Still no echo.
Phone is stock ICS.

Aittle more information would be nice. Are you stock or rooted, running any custom ROMs, firmware version, Android version? Is it just like an echo you're hearing, because that could be a few possibilities. The noise cancellation is for your end of the phone call to the recipient's, not the other way around.
Repair procedure #1: Hit/throw it
Worked perfectly on the last phone i had that did that. Got a brand new one from it.

Microphone sensitivity

Hey all,
Just wondering if it was possible to increase the sensitivity of the microphone because I hear complaints from people all the time that they cannot hear me so I have to squeeze the phone to my face and talk directly into the phone.
Also, is there a way I can get the speakerphone echo to go away? When on speakerphone they can hear themselves on the other side and on my end it typically just cancels their voice out completely unless I mute the mic. Fixes?

Start with the case if your using one and work your way down. I've seen many post where issue is the case. For the Mic you can try looking into alsa mixer app there might be a microphone combination you can help make increase.

[Q] In call speaker broken

So my cousin bought this phone yesterday and during his first phone call noticed that he could only hear the other end of the call thru headphones or speaker. Verizon replaced it without question and there was no issue there. Was just wondering if anybody else got a defective device.

My first replacement had a bad ear piece. Cracking when turned up during a call.
My volume is low on earpiece during calls. I can't hear much unless I am in a quiet room. In my car with road noise (New B'Mer not very loud) I can hardly here other party

If you're talking about using ur phone up to your ear, speaker by front camera, I would say replace it! Mine is very loud on full volume, honestly the loudest cell phone speaker I've ever had for the regular speaker, not talking about speaker phone here.

[Q] Need confirmation on headset call performance

If you use a headset/earbuds with an in-line mic to handle calls, I would appreciate it if you could confirm one thing for me.
During a call, do you hear your own voice (and surrounding noise) through your own headset?
I've never had a smartphone send the audio picked up by my own mic straight back to my own ears during calls. I'm trying to figure out if this is normal behavior for this device or if I have a problem.
u can try turning on microphone noise suppression... i bet its the other side using hands free where his/her mic picks up the loudspeaker and sends it back to you... did happen to me a couple of times and was fixed by the other side switching back to earpiece/headset instead of handsfree loudspeaker.. anyways if the problem still exists try upgrading/downgrading F/W .. if that didnt help simply take it back using the warranty
o and might wanna try a different headset if yours could be the culprit

Hi Mazroui, thanks for the response. I'm certain it's my own mic and not the other end. Here's how I tested - Bring up dialer, dial any number, hit call. As soon as I hit call, I can hear all the noise coming in from my own mic into my ears, no one is even on the other end of the line yet as the phone is still ringing. If I rub my finger across the in-line mic of my headset, all the rustling noise is sent right back to myself.
I wish I could say it was the other person on the other end of the line, but I'm definitely hearing the noise from my own mic during calls for some reason.
So I take it your phone doesn't do this?

wow.. definitely not... im using my dead lg g2 headset with 2 in ear plugs.. did u test with a different headset ? im guessing yours is a mono headset like my old blackberry phone 1 ear style... i remember it did that a lot.. although was very clear and loud but simply too irritating
I don't hear my own voice through the microphone on my Bower & Wilkins p5.

Yeah, I tested with 4 or 5 different headsets, all stereo. A basic Panasonic set, Apple EarPods, Bose QC20 (Android version), Bose QC25, and I even have the Sony Active Noise Cancelling earbuds which only function with the Xperia devices, and even those send the audio from the mics back into my ears.
Each of these headsets work perfectly fine in other devices I have such as Google Nexus 5, Motorola Moto X 2014, iPhone 5S, and others.

did u test if the phone was water proof XD maybe got something in the jack ? anyways with a problem like that id definitely use that warranty and save my self the hassle..
phone isn't supposed to do such a thing and with that many headsets tested u can prove it to the service center and ask for a replacement with no questions asked
Android404 - Thank you for the confirmation!

Yeah, I did a check to make sure the phone was waterproof using the service menu to test the phone pressure. It's never been in any water at all, closest it has ever been is on the bathroom sink while I'm taking a shower.
Yeah, I'm going to have to go down the warranty route I think.
wish u all the best
Thank you sir!
