Here is a how-to remove apps (note: you must be rooted)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=581976
You want to remove these 2 files:
HtcNaviPanel.apk
HtcNaviPanel.odex
Will that only remove the icon from my taskbar?
Sent from my HERO200 using XDA App
what exactly do you mean by "Remove stock nave icon from taskbar"? Are you talking about removing the icon from your app drawer? If there is an icon in your actual taskbar, that means the app is running...you would need to exit the app and it will go away. Please clarify...

It will remove the app so that you will never see it again from your app drawer. It won't be on your phone anymore.
What he wants is to still be able to use GPS, but he wants the GPS icon in the taskbar to be removed, a la mods that remove the Battery Icon or Clock from the taskbar. So he would still be able to toggle GPS on/off via the power control widget etc, it just wouldnt show the GPS's status in the taskbar.
This is somewhat appealing to me as well, because I almost never have GPS turned on so the little compass with a cross through it is always taking up space in my taskbar.

Yes. You got the idea. I will correct myself and say I ment the location icon on the task bar.

It's pretty easy to remove wholesale, but it would seem to be better to only remove the "no lock" icon, so that when GPS is off, nothing shows at all, but when GPS is active, show the icon so as to when when/if lock has been achieved. That would take a little more work to achieve, and perhaps more time than I'm personally looking to invest.
Don't know what the preference is as it relates to the above, but here you can see an example of it removed wholesale, regardless of gps "state".

I simply made mine transparent. It's located in the framework-res.apk. It's a ghetto workaround, I know.
I'm new to all this, is there a flashable zip that can take it away/ make it transparent?

You can make the gps lock icons transparent, even as a 1x1 pixel, however, the OS will still allocate the full pixel width for the space, which is really the point of removing it, to gain additional space in the taskbar for other icons, so that's probably not the "optimal" solution. For example, here is an example of making the icons a 1x1 transparent pixel:
Notice the gap still?
It's not as big of an issue, since under "normal" conditions, the lock icon is the leftmost for the upper right hand icons in the taskbar, as compared to other icons items that can be removed, such as the clock or the battery, etc.
Also, while the obtaining gps signal icon is in framework-res, the lock icons are in com.htc.resources.apk.

If you are okay with removing BOTH the lock and no-lock icons, wholesale, regardless as to whether gps is active, as mentioned in my previous reply, I can post this mod as a flashable zip shortly. Probably end of day today.

I'm getting FC on the Market during installation in MetaMorph. SMS notification icons don't get updated. Tried it on fresh install of CM. Anyone else getting this issue as well?
Do I push this somewhere or apply it in recovery as a .zip?
Sorry, new at this.
Hi,
at first, the market FC is normal by changing some things. Nothing matters, click it away.
The sms is icon is still in there. If you unzip this theme, you see a folder called "Mms", there is a folder named "res" and in it is "drawable-hdpi"
In this folder is the message icon. If it isn't there.....
I've changed it yesterday.
@mortzz:
This is no update file for recovery.
This is a metamorph theme. Install metamorph from market, put this file here on SD Card in the folder "AndroidThemes" The rest is quiet easy as looking on screen, understand what the Metamorph app says and only do it.

Just noticed my issue. I am using TracballColorNotify 1.0beta3 and the program replaces the icon with the stock.
Anyway you could incorporate the morph to include changing the icon in the TrackballColorNotify apk?
Do we still have the issue with the white notification bar in the browser and gmail etc.?
You can't change the white statusbar on browser and gmail and market. Sorry.
This is not only a picture to change.
At trackball notify thread there is a link to a vresion with a modified notification icon. Is that, what you mean?
I can't do this in an metamorph theme. Then, everybody without that app becomes an failure.
I did it so:
I've downloaded the statusbarnotification app, opened it with 7 zip, put my sms notification into it and signed it new.
I don't know if I can share this version. I can ask lilhermit for permission if you dislike the notification icon on his app.
Nice, a wish from me though is that u can add and see the date as well in the status bar...can this be done?
Yes, we can! ;-)
I've released a new GlasStatusBar which can that exactly.
I think you've found it here in forum.

You can opt to skip adding morphs to each item the morph touches. This will allow you to add the option to morph trackball notify leaving it up to the user to either opt in or opt out for the change
Even if the user leaves it on without the app installed, the morphing of the rest of the items will succeed. I always remove a handful of stock apps that morphs look for (email.apk for example) and have yet to have one fail.

Phone Icon using for google voice
XDA obvious (obviously this is a daily app, and i always have it on the front home screen)
I'm keeping the above custom separate than the original package. As I did not create the rest.
I take no credit for the original set. And have no intentions to.
These icons were not generated for android, there are some icons that do not fit for android os, and some missing.
I took the following http://stopdreaming.deviantart.com/art/Albook-extended-dark-811-icons-117250259 icons and converted from .ico to .png 64x64 to work with the evo icons.

Actually I was kinda wondering how to use them myself lol. I tried using FolderOrganizer like you suggested fdot and I was able to succesfully change the icon through the app itself but how do you get it to show that same icon in the app drawer or on the homescreen? For example, in FolderOrganizer i changed the TiKL icon to the custom ptt icon that you made but in the app drawer and home screen it still shows the default one. Would really appreciate some help! Thanks in advance
Yes would be awesome if someone could post a tutorial on how to install these
Long click home screen, choose add wiget, choose folderorganizer item, choose the app.
Wont change the app drawer that I know of. But thats not a feature I would use anyway.

been trying to figure this out. i really want to remove the clock from the notification bar on top--i hate seeing to clocks on my phone. i don't need to see the clock ever on the notifcation bar.
any way to remove it? i don't want to theme my whole phone, just the clock.
i've been searching at came up with nothing. thank in advance!
guess its not possible huh.
Been waiting on this one myself... I really see no purpose of having 2 clocks on the homescreen. I really DONT need it there at all.
I wouldn't mind reclaiming that chunk off notification bar space myself.
Posted by my rooted EVO 4G
closest option would be to use Launcher Pro, it can hide the notification bar altogether on the home screens.. this will eliminate having to see two clocks on the home screen and you can still tap menu to peak at the notification bar when needed
this was done on the hero and i do not see why it cannot be done on the evo as well? id also like a vanilla lockscreen with no text. hopefully a dev can sort this out.
It can be done, just no one has done it. I removed the battery icon from my taskbar because I use vader's battery droid widget. I also removed the GPS disabled icon because I see no point in showing an icon for something that is off. I'll poke around and see if I can find the damn clock.

Unfortunately simply removing the battery pngs only removes the battery icon, it doesn't shift the icons over Anyone know how to completely remove it from the task bar? (and no I don't want an entire custom ROM for this) I suppose while we're at it remove the clock as well from the otification bar as several people would like that as well.
Anyone figure this out yet??

There are a few versions of this notification bar for the Atrix 2. But you have to be on one of the DEODEXED roms to have them. That means, you also need root and CWM Recovery. If you do - I can share a few status bars with you.

1. Unless I use a white background there will be a white border on two sides as if this app was not made for our screen size. Anybody else see this?
2. Why does a ROM need to be deodexed to use the toggle zips here? Won't they work on stock odexed?

To answer number 2... Notification toggles as well as practically every mod required a deodxed phone because in a odexed phone the information in say BlurCamera.apk is split between BlurCamera.apk and BlurCamera.odex This makes it very difficult to find a a specific file you might be looking for (epescially for theming) because it can be anywhere between the two. In a deodexed ROM BlurCamera.apk and BlurCamera.odex is combined, so all the files are in one place and easy to find.

Yup. That damn SystemUI.odex....
You can only edit existing images, xml files - minor theming stuff - in the odexed apks. To edit the smali files (which is needed for heavier mods, like adding the dropdown toggles, power menu options, etc..) you need to deodex...
I have been running on an odexed rom for a while now, and it's quite a bit faster loading and booting.. I managed to tweak it pretty well while leaving it odexed, but I gotta get my pulldown toggles back... still working on that..

Thanks. I do prefer this over the other notification app talked about earlier here. However, it suffers from the same strange 'not fitting' issue. I'm not able to use a black background without the border issue appearing. White background works quite well. It also has more options. The app is a bit buggy and I'd definitely recommend watching the video tutorial. Once setup with what works and what doesn't the app is satisfying enough. Thanks for your post. This is a good alternative to pulldown notifications on the stock odexed ROM.

I think it's because they are not individual toggles, more like just a picture of the toggles as a place holder, and that pic is probably not sized for our phone (just a guess)... or, maybe it's for a scroll bar? can you put a few rows in the notification and scroll? (again, just a guess, I haven't played with this app enough yet)
My guess is its an absolute value in the XML instead of a percentage or floating value. Probably designed without the ATRIX 2's dimensions in mind.

Many of you having been asking me to post some flashable zips of the RAZR M launcher I modded for CSROM.
Well, I finally got off my lazy butt and did it (sorry for the delay!).
The launcher is from a different device (Motorola RAZR M) and different Android version (ICS), so there is a little lag.
But that is a small price to pay for the awesome circle widget!
There are currently two versions available: with and without the persistent search bar.
While I was able to remove the search bar, I have not yet been able to recover the real estate.
Six other apps are installed which are required to make the circle widget fully functional.

I don't know, but that is a great idea.
How are you trying to implement it?
I am AOKP mr1 Build 5 and allowed all widgets in the lock screen options and when i add it it says it can not be installed on a third party screen app, or something like that lol.
