remove clock from notification bar-how do i? - EVO 4G Themes and Apps

been trying to figure this out. i really want to remove the clock from the notification bar on top--i hate seeing to clocks on my phone. i don't need to see the clock ever on the notifcation bar.
any way to remove it? i don't want to theme my whole phone, just the clock.
i've been searching at came up with nothing. thank in advance!

guess its not possible huh.

Been waiting on this one myself... I really see no purpose of having 2 clocks on the homescreen. I really DONT need it there at all.

I wouldn't mind reclaiming that chunk off notification bar space myself.
Posted by my rooted EVO 4G

closest option would be to use Launcher Pro, it can hide the notification bar altogether on the home screens.. this will eliminate having to see two clocks on the home screen and you can still tap menu to peak at the notification bar when needed

this was done on the hero and i do not see why it cannot be done on the evo as well? id also like a vanilla lockscreen with no text. hopefully a dev can sort this out.

It can be done, just no one has done it. I removed the battery icon from my taskbar because I use vader's battery droid widget. I also removed the GPS disabled icon because I see no point in showing an icon for something that is off. I'll poke around and see if I can find the damn clock.

I'm not deleting my clock because if I'm not on the home screen, then the status bar clock is the only clock on the screen.

The new CM6 nightly rom has an option to remove the clock from the taskbar

Delete the battery pngs in framework-res.apk

Does it remove the battery and push the icons over into the empty space? or does it just stays blank?

Unfortunately simply removing the battery pngs only removes the battery icon, it doesn't shift the icons over Anyone know how to completely remove it from the task bar? (and no I don't want an entire custom ROM for this) I suppose while we're at it remove the clock as well from the otification bar as several people would like that as well.

Anyone figure this out yet??

As someone above posted, the CM nightly will do as you ask.

Is is possible to get battery % next or in the battery icon in the top bar?

Was just wondering if this was possible? I hate having a widget for something so simple as telling the battery %
Thanks
You can download Battery Indicator in the market. I personally don't enjoy how it looks exactly, but it does what it needs to do - and it isn't that distracting. I think you should check it out ~.~
Hi,
Firstly, if you don't have root, there's bugger all you can do aside from install separate apps/widgets etc.
Secondly,
Fyi, the battery 'meter' in the notifications is simply 7 static png icons representing the nearest battery value to:
0%
10%
20%
40%
60%
80%
100%
so you'll never (with the current framework) get the pure 'countdown' type battery meter you're after 100, 99, 98 etc... if that's what you're looking for.
However I did make a really basic Metamorph theme pack (attached) that adds a little number to the icons as well as makes the different batterly lvl's slightly more distinguishable. Plain and simple, should work on any rooted, non-themed rom.
(I need to find a better font to use with the hdpi devices but for the meantime this should do the trick.)
Hope this helps.
Cheers,
rav
Try battery monitor on the market the most practical and efficient one there is imho
black or white options for black bars
I have the batterytime lite widget installed from the market. It does put a battery on the homescreen but also gives you the percentage right under it. What I do like about it is when you click the icon it'll display how much battery time you have left for talk time / idle time / Web / Video playback / audio playback. Can't have a percentage on the status bar, but this would do the trick.
"Battery Indicator" from the market shows percentage on status bar.
but dont these apps/widgets that "show battery status" kinda drain the battery too? kind of self defeating if thats so...

Everyone knows that, thanks. If the OP wanted a persistant status bar notification application they would have asked.
The OP asked about default battery icon in the notification area and whether it can be changed to include a %. The only two ways to do so are by themeing or re-doing the framework.
cheers.

While you are correct, your answer still doesn't "solve" the problem as others have tried to do. Most regulars know of this issue and were simply telling the poster the solution (or end result) or this question which has been asked before.
That said, I have been using Battery Monitor for as long as I could remember. It's an amazing app worth paying for. It looks like Battery Indicator is free but wasn't around when I got the other one (it's also a little different).
This is the current solution to a widget. When someone decides to rebuild the framework I'm sure we'll all be informed.
Running cm latest stable with the kspec theme. I didn't like the circle battery icon so metamorph the battery % icon is its place.

Yes mate - it's native functionality, so you don't need a cab or 3rd party app.
Go to the settings tab, menu, all settings, clock & alarms, more (tab).
There's an option in there to display the clock in the title bar in all apps.
Hope that helps
Thanks for the replies
Never knew about the built in clock feature but that gives the problem that you can't see the battery, which is kinda annoying cause there's plenty of room for them both!

The BattClock can do all at one time!
You can additionally add the date/free memory in a third row, give various colors for battery states and so on...

Transparent?
I was thinking... can you make it transparent in edges? or something.. Its not a problem when you use the phone, but if you lock it(turn off the screen) and open it again(in lock mode) you can see the edges of it.. a bit sad but anyway nice app!
Use the config (icon in main start menu) and use X (horisontal) Y (vertical) to move it
..
well its not it... THe background when you are in the start menu and such, is going up to the screen edge, not to the edge where the clock, battert etc are.
Not sure if I know what you're talking about or if you even made a try, it works fine here and does not overlay anything after I moved it using the config.
This is such a great thing, not turning back now.

Okay, that's working well... but I use DJC Taskbar Leo 6.5 with this very nice round battery icon... and I would like to have both - battery + clock, but this battery icon + clock... any ideas?
Are there any alternatives to using Battclock and Dutty's taskbar mods? I don't like how battclock has a background that masks over the stock icons, and has to adjust to the changing colors. I also don't want the icons sets used in Dutty's mod. I just want to see stock batt icon and stock clock in the taskbar. Like this:

Is it possible to add this mod to stock ROM? Or is it only availible for custom ROMs?
There seems to be no way to put both clock and battery unless you flash a ROM so can someone please make a toggle switch instead for clock and battery? It will be useful to have clock when using apps and you know you have a charged battery. It is just too many clicks to get to the Clock settings if you want it to show.

Launcher Pro removes the entire notification bar for you if you like. When you press Menu it brings it down for you to see your messages or time 3g status etc. Pretty neat.

but i'm pretty sure you need the source...
This topic is great and now I can use froyo. The clock was the only thing we can't change until we get source code. How again do we change the notification icon colorsin froyo?
This is a very nice trade off to use in the mean time.

Remove recent apps from notification pulldown

Hello all,
Big thanks to everyone involved in root/s-off.
With root is there any way to remove the 'recent apps' from the notification pulldown?
TIA All
I would also like to see a patch of some kind that replaces the recent apps with a on off bar..
+1 that recent app bar is so annoying
+2, add power widget options in instead!
Definitely needed!
I will never understand why they put the Recent Apps there when you can get to them by long pressing the home button.
There is a workaround until someone does this, not the best solution but it works.
In the market there is an app called Power Control Plus (it is a paid app) that will put the toggles in your notification area but it doesn't replace the Recent apps.
yeah, the toggles in the pull down are one of the few things I miss from the Fascinate I have. Another being the convenience of being able to drag left or right on the notification bar to quickly change the screen brightness.
I'm working on Rosie and Framework mods right now and this is on my list. I removed the recent apps from notification on a custom Hero ROM and will do it to the Tbolt. As far as adding the switches, that's a whole other story. We would have to port JsChiSurf's Evo work and I think I'll just wait until someone ports a Gingerbread Sense ROM, which has the switches in a tab.
Does it actually have to be ported or could you just rip the required framework elements from an evo rom and copy them to your tbolt framework?

I imagine the dependencies are different, so things wouldn't match up properly.
Question here: I too find the recent apps feature useless and liked the pullldown toolbar in Slayer's mods.(my personal favorite) I assume a mod like this could be ported or created?
Sent from my ADR6400L using XDA App
Just getting rid of the Recent Apps would be an improvement until someone gets this done.
Another thing you might do if you can figure it out, one of the Z roms for the inc had the Verizon Wireless banner made about half the size it is now. It looked better and took up far less space.
Even better if you could remove the banner entirely, I think we all know we are on Verizon!
Here is a screen cap with "Power Control Plus" It's a paid app but usable, now if we could at least get rid of the recent apps.

I tried widgetsoid but I didn't like the fact that when you click on any of the toggles it dissapears. If I want to cycle through a toggle (for instance "Brightness") you have to bring the notifications down again.
Maybe a setting I was missing but that's how it worked for me.
Yep I would be happy with the recent apps removed and using widgetsoid or something for toggles.

Recent apps gone, along with some other mods here. Now on to JsChiSurf's power control mod and Lockscreen mods.

anyway to change the status bar to samsung?

I want the status bar, specifically the battery and the wireless icons changed.
On some Samsung phones, such as the captivate, the battery is icon is vertical as opposed to horizontal on the LG Thrill.
The wireless bars are also "tighter" if that makes sense.
With my theme, the stock LG status bar doesn't look good. I was hoping to change the colours as well since my theme is blue.
Something tells me this is not possible without root?
When I tried Cyanogen Mod on froyo it changed the battery icon and wireless icon to what I like.

Try UOT Kitchen.
Remember to read thoroughly as always, check out the XDA thread, and do a search for queries first.
You can change much more than just the battery icon.
Always do a nandroid backup before doing such stuff.
U could try uot to make a rom or mod it, but you'll need root
so it requires root, themes cannot change this.

see what you think... I found it slightly buggy
Otherwise, I had a similar problem a while ago, its actually really hard to change anything in the status bar or the notification panel without flashing a new rom, let alone root, I don't know why this part of the android operating system is so difficult to customize, there are customizations for pretty much every other part of it (lock screen, power menu, launcher etc....)
