Will it be possible to mod the framework to have a thin status bar like the current one in 1.6? Or would it not be possible to downscale all the larger icons?
Thanks

Downscaling wouldn't do the trick, unfortunately.
Today, I tried to do the opposite: the "fat" status-bar from 2.1 to 1.6.
(see here)
The status bar changed but the size was the same.
So, I guess, the size of the status-bar is controlled in some xml file in the framework.
I am sure someone will come up with a workaround,
after we update and after we acquire root access.

I did some digging and I think the size is in the status_bar.xml.
I tried to import it from the 2.1 framework, but my phone wouldn't start.
So, yes, definetely not possible with simple copy-paste.
Luckily, the 2.1 update is close!
i think it's possible...
if change the true size is not possible, you can always make a thin bar and the rest of size put transparent

That wouldn't look right actually...
The icons would still be big and overlapping the bar, so nope.

Ok, let me get this straight:
On 1.6 the statusbar is thin.
On 2.1 the statusbar is fat, meaning bigger, wider than the one in 1.6.

we are talking about the bar...
if he want make a thin bar, he has to do small icons.
And you can do same that i said to the icons, so it seems to be possible...
I really don't like how the icons and the status bar got bigger in 2.1, it would be nice if we can change it back to 1.6 style after updating to 2.1

First, I take no responsibility for what this may do to your phone. As with any mod backup all your files.
I updated the from just a black status bar and included white battery and wifi status icons. Also included in the mm theme is bluetooth indicators incase the rom you are using changed from the stock ones.
Screenshot?
Screenshot added.

I second this. It looks good. Only thing I'd probably do is change the dropdown bar too. Nice work though!

Looks nice. Thanks for the upload. I wonder if it's possible to make it totally transparent?
Yea its totally possible. In using a new set that also changes the battery to a white meter. It matches better with other colors.

Update has been posted. Requests are also welcomed.
Any chance you could make a transparent one with the white icons? And this works on stock non rooted rom?

Download metamorph from the market.
Great, i'm looking myself nuts for white battery icons.
It would be nice if you could make them also for the charging icons in white.
Meaning a full set so they all look white.
Anyway i'm using them in white and blue, blue for the charging icons.
Thanks for posting this.

So I tried this and the font color still isn't right. It's supposed to be white but it's black just as stated before. I pulled your framework res apk and everything but still nothing...any ideas?
It's just the clock font that's screwed up. I'm not sure why....I'm gonna keep messing with it but I really have no idea why it's doing that
If you post up your zip I can see what I can do what isn't colored right just the clock?

No it's the clock font in the system tray. It's black so you can't see it when the system tray is also black. It should be white but I don't see an option for it. But here it is chief

Is this what you are looking for [THEME] TWuniversal Simple Blue and Black (Updated 10.10.12).
Or these:
[Theme][ZipThemer]ICS AOSP Blue 0.02 All TouchWiz ROMs ICS/JB [9/10/2012]
Motomoto00 Blue Theme by Motomoto00, ☆☆☆☆☆[THEME][JB & ICS]ICS Blue Mod V4.1 Designed for Blue lovers
[THEME] Blue UI SGS3
Or the The Ultimate S3 Themeing Thread may be what your looking for, and if non of these are what your looking for, check out ROM Toolbox(I think you need to pro version for themeing various parts of your phone) it has a bunch of handy tools for themeing your phone.
Thank you very much. Im gonna try the top one first. The moto one has no link cause thats the one i was talking about in my thread lol.
Romtool box is great but i does not work at a on my gs3 when it comes to themes :-\. I have the pro verison and it does nothing. Idk why

If you really wanted true customization you could read up on TW customization and the decompile certain file and make your own images to suit any style you wanted.
This is true. Problem is is that im busy all the time and dont get much time to actually sit down and learn this kind of stuff.
PS
Everything i try that actually installs and i can boot up, i get a UI System stopped working and i have no status bar. Idk how fo fix that. Everything is themed like it shows but no status bar at all. Completely gone. Ugh this is frustrating lol
Also i have 2 "res" folders in my systemui.apk file.... idk why. Odd. And i cant edit out one of them with rootexplore or nothing cause its a apk ofcourse... I have tried this ninja app thing on the market and it is supposed to edit them but it wont see both res folders so something is up... and not making sense. Ill just nandroid backup for now until someone has a idea lol. Remember, every theme does this to me.

I'd re-install the rom your using, wipe data (Backup data you don't want to loose first) and cache, make a backup of this stock rom. Then use adb to pull systemUI.apk and framework-res.apk from your phone to your computer. Next use apk tool or a similar tool to decompile the apk, then make the changes you want (Changing images, changing xml, etc.), after you have completed this recompile the apk (Or apks). Do not sign system apps, make sure permissions are correctly set, then push the apk back to your phone. Check out this guide for more info.
Seems like wayyy to much to do for a theme lol. I have a couple ideas im gonna try and see how it goes. Thanks for the imput! Really do appriciate it!
Update:
I can use KindaCrapMods to change my status bar by itself. I do like that. I have not tried it with a theme but i think some things my interact with theme + mod and not work right. Idk for sure. Just a guess

So... I got your lock screen theme and lte change to flash and work but I just cannot get this one to work.. I'm on 4.4.4 stock ported. I've tried the drawer and black so far.
No flash errors, just doesn't change from stock.
Help please! Thanks in advance.

I have found some roms dont use stock icons hence they wont show up. Sorry about that.
