as some of u know, the new GOT openrecovery lets u enable the JIT compiler
the JIT compiler comes from the froyo update and gives u performance boost, altough no near as good as the froyo itself
my question is, is there any1 that tried it? is it very stable?
i dont like to get hardware problems because of the JIT
Just try it.
JIT is stable, i'm using it with 2.38 by HTCDevil...
Sent from my Milestone using Tapatalk
I've tried it as well but on 3.11 (TELUS) and it works splendidly. Also definite improvement. Just make sure that you do a nandroid backup first before installing the JIT.compiler.
Sent from my Milestone using XDA App
is the performance boost very noticeble?
yes. On stock 2.36, @550 MHz you may achieve almost 9,5 MFLOPS (instead only ~5)
Max tweaked roms @1200 MHz may reach above 15 MFLOPS.
what benchmark or any other app did u use for that? and how do i uninstall the JIT compiler again?
We used LinPack for Android for benchmarking and G.O.T. OpenRecovery to install and remove JIT.
i just installed it but i never get near +9 mflops
my highest is only 6,9? i use stock 2.1 with SHOLS 2.36
and i used quadrant standard and my fps did not change at all from b4
PS : i dont see any option to uninstall it in the GOT openrecovery, i only see the option to install it
double post
i got random reboot here after using froyo jit..
i am using froyo jit from fast & light rom thread
the performance is great with froyo JIT but i dont know why that jit not stable on my milestone.
i am looking for stable jit..anybody here can give me a direction to stable jit?

Damn stable and much a bit smoothier but of course not comparable to 2.2 natively. worth a try

Aside from Linpack numbers showing a performance increase, are there any noticeable differences with day to day usage? 600 to 768 doesn't seem like a substantial jump...

I also have not had any lockup issues. I tested this last night. I had wifi on before flashing this kernel and had 3 "lockup/freezes" within 2 hours. After flashing I have had none. Even when i set the max to only 600, I still have had 0 lockups.

flashed over liberated aria linpak and quadrant marginally higher.
Here the the first offical release of Fluff Kernel for the Epic 4G
Ok here are two new versions for you all.One is the performance kernel and the other is the battery saver. Both are using the new version of my initramfs that comes with ChainsDD's Superuser.apk and su binary. So i suggest if you have Superuser.apk installed to uninstall it before flashing either of these kernels since Superuser.apk will be installed in /system/app instead of /data/app.And now for the kernels. Both of these kernels are Rom Manager compatiable and have root in them.
This is the battery saving kernel.Changes to it are:
Both Kernels are updated to DI18 sourcecode.
CPU governor set to userspace you can use SetCPU to set the speed of the kernel if you like although SetCPU seems a bit unstable on anything other then conservative.
Default scheduler set to CFQ
http://www.sdx-downloads.com/devs/skeeterslint/FluffKernel-Epic-V1.0.5B.zip
This is the performance kernel.Changes to it are:
CPU governor set to performance your cpu will always be set to max this gives the best numbers in linpack and quadrant if numbers are you thing.
Default scheduler is set to CFQ.
http://www.sdx-downloads.com/devs/skeeterslint/FluffKernel-Epic-V1.0.5P.zip
This is another battery saver kernel for those who don't want to mess with SetCPU is uses the conservative CPU governor that the overclocked kernels use.
http://www.sdx-downloads.com/devs/skeeterslint/FluffKernel-Epic-V1.0.5C.zip
All kernels have been compiled against a toolchain that is stable on the newest OTA.And all kernels have been built with stock Samsung kernel source with no modifications to the source code all changes were to the .config file.

This zip can be flashed with ClockWorkMod or can be taken out of the zip and the zImage can put used as a replacement for the zImage in the one click root method although this kernel has root built into it.I recommend removing the JoeyKrim root method to not cuase and conflicts.
This kernel still has some Samsung bloat in it this will be stripped out as time goes on.I will also be trying out different combinations of CPU governors and schedulers to see which one performs the best.So please test it out and post your feedback.
Link to the stock samsung source that was used for these kernels.
http://opensource.samsung.com/ Please search for SPH-D700 DI18.

OK it was still broken but i promise its fixed now.The battery drain probably wasn't cuased by the kernel some people have had problems with android system running away and draining battery but it has nothing to do with the kernel they have flashed back to the stock kernel and still have had issues with battery drain and android system running away on them.

Well, on my Inspire I have flashed a custom rom that gives me up to a 1400 score on my Quadcore tests, yet I see other people hitting 2000-2500, what am I doing wrong? I'm using Core Droid v5.0 with a flashed radio that speeds up my download and upload speeds. Do you guys have any advice on how to speed up my Android?
And by the way, yes I do have set CPU and I have the settings on Max (1024000) and on Minimum (245761) I also have set on boot ticked along with profiles to save battery life. Any help is appreciated.
Sincerely,
RootTheNoob
Are you running a kernael that can be overclocked?
How can I tell of it can be overlooked, and I'm pretty sure I am its the default core Droid Rom, or do I have to install the kernel separately as well?
Sent from my Desire HD using XDA App
The default CoreDroid kernel isn't overclocked. Also if you have an overlooked kernel, setcpu would let you push past 1ghz.
Sent from my Inspire 4G using XDA App
I think you can use the leedroid kernel with coredroid can't you? If so, I'm using that one. It will overclock to 1.8. I only run at 1.2 though.
see post 957:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=12123867&highlight=leedroid#post12123867
So what do I set it to to overclock it?
First you have to floash the kernel. The you use the slider in set cpu to overclock.
How do I flash it?
Sounds like you have some reading to do. Download the kernel to the root of your SD card. Then from ROM manager use CWM to flash rom from SD Card. DO A BACK UP FIRST THOUGH. Read the first few leedroid posts and that will help
No, I know how to flash things but what kernel do I use?
What kernel do I use with Core Droid?
http://leedroid.ftp.rshost.eu/DHD-Kernels/
it is the 2.2.9. Check his post here and it will tell you what you are getting
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=991848
Try the Inversely ROM...sure its stock based but the kernel can be oc'd to 1.8.... at 1.5 I got over 2600 and at 1.8 I got a 3309 and could do better sub some tweaking...right now though kernel is not a separate flash package.
Sent from my Desire HD using XDA App
Um..should be Ingersoll ROM.
Autocorrect fail....
What also helps is be fully charged...do your quad right after fresh boot and stop/shutdown all background processes you can..that's when you get best score.
Sent from my Inspire 4G using XDA App
Edit: hey he just posted his kernel ad a separate package...will make things interesting.
Guys, none of those kernels worked , I had to restore my Android to a previous backup.
Anything I can do?
Sent from my Desire HD using XDA App
Coredroid 5 is based off the the leaked GB rom no custom OC kernels are available. 1500 is about what I get with that rom also. If you want higher quadrant scores you need a froyo 2.2 based rom and kernel.

You'll prolly have to download a Rom with an oc kernel and wipe everything before you install it.
May not be what you want to do...but might be the only way to get what speeds you're wanting.
Otherwise...you'll have to wait till there's an oc kernel for the Rom your using.
yelp there isnt Oc of the core with gingerbread.. they do a 2.2 with oc. i havent done those yet cause i do like this gingerbread.. Im just going to keep with this V5.0 MIUI guys have the OC kernal for their gingerbread but they have more steps than i wanna deal with.
Has anyone been successfull? i have tried every OC kernel and as soon as i overclock it just reboots my phone to a freeze (only way out is to either pull the battery or adb reboot). That being said the UV kernel runs fine.
Not sure if it has to do with the I9020A series.
But overall, each NS phone can tolerate its own OC levels. Some phones can tolerate only up to 1.2 GHz, some may be able to achieve 1.4GHz (or beyond). And for some of the unfortunate, some aren't able to OC at all.
Thus this post. I hope my phone is'nt the issue. it would be nice to push a little bit more out of it if i needed it down the line.
I over clocked mine to 1.4 and it was fine, I leave it at 1.0 tho, this friggin thing is quick enough for now.
hmm how do you check your radio. I'm gonna try that as a last resort. And i can set mine as 1.4 but as soon as i run a resource heavy task (n64) my phone locks up and reboot freezes.

Not sure why a radio would affect your ability to OC but...
