Best Elements Of Launchers Combined - XPERIA X10 Themes and Apps

So ive used several home screens or w/e you call them and I like a few things from each of them.
Panda Home
-The two sidebars
Default Home
-Pull up drawer instead of the press drawer on ADW Launcher
ADW Laucher
-Pretty much everything
So im wondering if theres anyway I could have all these elements in one laucher. Probably easiest to somehow get sidebars on ADW laucher and the pull up drawer is not a must but good to have.
Is there such a launcher or can anyone make one or are there apps that can do this?
THANKS

You can set adw launcher to open your app drawer when you swype up or down anywhere on the home screen so you don't have to hit the button. I also like the side bars from panda home. I actually think panda home is pretty cool, but can't live with only 3 screens. I also like the scrollable bottom dock bar in launcher pro that my buddy uses on his droid, too bad we can't use that
Sent from my X10a using XDA App

The option is under system preferences: swype up options, swipe down options.
Also just realized that if you put enough apps on the dock bar, it becomes scrollable just like launcher pro only with much better looking icons, so score another win for adw!

I've not seen panda home.. Can you describe the side bars??
Sent from my x10 using XDA and swype.

They are basically dock bars that slide out from each side of the screen, i think you can have maybe up to 3 on each side, not sure. functionally, i think they really offer nothing that the dock bar doesnt, just a different way to do it, kind of neat. i downloaded panda home and tried it out only for a few minutes before i realized i couldnt figure out a way to make more than 3 homescreens, so i went back to adw, so i am not 100% sure on the functionality.
I honestly love everything about adw and would never look towards anything different, but I get some force closes and slowdowns on my x10 when using adw, not enough to make me use any of the alternatives that I have tried so far, but enough to make me keep looking.

I use Zeam home launcher, it's very light & excellent to use

GDE have scrollable bottom and additional 4x1 doc widget that u can add shortcuts as much u wants n swipe. It's really cool. Try it. Only bad part is that its a paid app. But its really worth it. ;-)

For those who cant find out how to get more screens on Panda. Just long press the home screen and there will be a "Panda Settings" or something like that. But Panda is kinda laggy so I dont really like it. And regarding the swipe up thing, I want it more like drag that drawer up so it slides up rather than swipe up anywhere on the screen and having it pop up. That isnt even the main thing anyways, the main thing are the sidebars cause I hate to have a messy desktop.

Functionally, is there any difference between the sidebars in panda and the dock bar in adw?

Umm not really. It did allow me to add icons from app drawer to thr dock but not the icon Widgets simptext from the homescreen. It seems that LPro is the only that allow you to add simptext icons to the dock. Unless there is another launcher that has the horizontal scrolling and nit the 3d cube.....
Any suggestion?

I take it that's not on the x10...?? LauncherPro is 2.1 up, yeah...?

You can't add widgets to the dock but you can add shortcuts. There are several ways to do this but I use FolderOrganizer:
1. Run FolderOrganizer and change the icon for Dialer app
2. Long press home screen and select "add shortcut"
3. Select FolderOrganizer Item
4. Add the Dialer app
5. Drag and drop Dialer app onto the dock
You could also do this with AnyCut or BetterCut.
EDIT: you won't get the unread count like the widget doing this

LG LAUNCHER IN THE MARKET
i been scrolling in the android market and came across this application which looks like the port of the old launcher i did a while back,
(this version has bugs on them and doesnt work very well)
i want to first say that it took me a time to make this launcher to work, LG is the owner of this launcher, but still give credit to those who work and put time on this, damn.

I like it however the calendar widget does not seem to work. Is it suppose to pull the events from the sense calendar or go to it when you click a date? As of right now when I click on a date in the calendar widget it does nothing. How did you get the sense clock to work, or is it something diff (forgot the name of the other one lol).

Sleek Sexy Hi-res Custom Icons *UPDATED* 19/2

Hey guys, ive made myself some custom icons as i wasn't really happy with what was out there. Ive set them up with Desktop Visualizer so they are bigger.
If anyone else is interested id be happy to upload them and share them to the community.
im also in the process of making a hancent theme to match, and the app market
If anyone does end up wanting them and you need a icon i'll make it for you, only if you request it like this
Application name
Colour you would like (if other colours end up being made)
So i guess this is my contribution to the community lol

Actual size of icons in .psd, so you can have them pretty big on the homescreen if you want.
INSTRUCTIONS
You'll need
- Home Screen replacement adwEX / Launcher Pro ect... ( I use adwEX so ive only tested on that)
- Home screen setup to 10x10
- Desktop Visualizer + config tool (both free in market)
- Folder Organizer (optional)
First setup your home screen to 10x10 and install DVR
Copy all the .pngs to the dvr folder on your sd card
Long Press the home screen and create a dvr config widget, place it in the top left corner and tap on it, set it to 10x10, exit out. Move it to the bottom right tap on it. It will confirm itself. You can delete that widget off the home screen now.
Long Press the home screen and create a DVR widget 2x1 for the size on my home screen or resize the widget 4x2 to have it double the size, or 8x4 for a HUGE one.
Tap on the widget to set it up, under "icon" select image and navigate to the dvr folder and image of choice.
Under action you can choose what you want the widget todo, ie; Launcher an app.
Leave the label blank, and touch effect to whatever colour you like. (im using blue)
When you are done, tap OK and your new icon/widget will be set up.
If you have folder organizer you can setup the app draw icon to link to the app folder via "other/folder organizer link/applications" in the DVR action menu. ( its how i have it setup)

I'd love to get this for my Tab (XXJID), but whenever I install a launcher (Launcher pro or ADWex) my tab reboots after a few minutes and is stuck in a boot loop.
Only way to fix this is removing the launcher in safe mode.
Do you have any idea how i could get this to work?
Does anyone know the actual pixel sizes for all the different sizes for desktop visualizer widgets on the tab?

Well so far I've tried ADWLauncher Ex, ADW.Launcher, Launcher Pro and GO Launcher EX.
So far GO Launcher EX is the only one that at least works for almost a minute, before the Tab reboots and is stuck (started through the finished installation notification).
Pressing the home button does nothing except vibrating sometimes.

When you are on a home screen and long press on a widget, you now see more options than before including shortcuts to the Application info and Market pages for the app. You can also quickly set up custom shortcuts using ADW’s menus rather than the standard Android process.
New app drawer functions on long press:
These new app drawer functions are probably the most impressive. You can now long press on apps from within the drawer to see a variety of options, giving you more control over the look and feel. You can also add folders directly in, plus a bunch of other shortcuts. After playing with the new app drawer for 30 seconds, you see how amazing these new tweaks will be once this thing gets fine-tuned and is ready for release.

many people like Adw but as a launcher it does not have anything special. Lets say similar to Go launcher.
Adw has only cosmetic things. None of them are usefull very much.

I disagree with that statement..
second Hidden dock
adjustable column rows
drag and drop apps to the dockbar
probably more that i can't think of on the top of my head..
and to whoever said something about the dockbar background.. if you purchase ADW Ex it offers that feature to easily switch out the dockbar bg :x
Go Launcher is good don't get me wrong, (currently using it) just that only reason I'm not on ADW is cause my theme just works too well to not have the ability to have a looping theme.
with Go launcher:
* you can kill applications
* you can hide icons
* you can uninstall
* you can create folders
* it has built-in task manager
* it has built-in recent
from straight app-drawer.
Adw has none of these. But it has many dock backgrounds, themes, fancy colors...etc.
You decide?

With froyo .. you don't need to KILL any applications..
you can hide icons in ADW by creating categories.. and you don't need to go to a menu to make them show when you "hide" them..
you can uninstall apps from adw by holding them to the trashcan..
you can't have folders in the app drawer in adw but like i said before.. categories..
You can always access recent apps by holding the home button.. which I have always done.
As I've said.. Go Launcher is a GREAT launcher.. but don't cast out ADW that easily..

Uninstallig apps works the same way in go launcher, furthermore, you can also uninstall them directly in the drawer.
Accessing recent apps pressing the home button works as well, however, there also is a category for that in the drawer.

I use it this way: the regular dock only has one button which opens the app drawer.
When I swipe my finger up the screen, the hidden dock appears containing all the docks apps.
I like that because it prevents me from accidently starting apps.

You choose open/close dock as swipe up action and when the dock is closed you drop apps on the bottom part of the screen.
Hope that helps.

I'm currently using ADW launcher (the free version) and i'm really happy with it. However, there are a couple things i'd like it to do that it can't. I'm looking for opinions and suggestions before i go get/buy another.
Requirements:
-make dock look like stock froyo/gingerbread
-create custom shortcuts
-ability to use icon packs
-add whatever apps/custom shortcuts you like to the dock
-add/remove home screens
-have app drawer as vertical list, not horizontal pages
-some way to hide apps from the main list
-modify app shortcuts in app list (change icon and name)
know of anythign that can do all this? thanks in advance guys.
There are several free launchers,
I personally use ADW launcher ex (not free) but if you want a free launcher with these specifications launcherpro is a very good choice
Check launcher pro. Not sure where the differences really stand between free and Plus, apart from Widgets. You can have scrollable docks with custom shortcuts / icons, hide apps from drawer, vertical scroll (and 4D app drawer like ADWEX) offers and icon support. You can't easily change icons with LPP like you can with ADW, but you can use another app (like Desktop Visualizer) for that. It also has removable / addable(?) Homescreen counts as well. Scrollable Widgets are a bonus, like the Twitter one.
Many options out there though. Not sure about them all.

Have you tried Go Launcher EX? It does almost everything you ask for. Launcherpro is another one you could try
thanks guys, i'll try them out and my philosophy is free first. you'll usually be able to find what you want online with little to no money

Can Launcher Pro make app drawer background transparant?

Home replacement app
I've seen the one called SPB 3D and it's very cool. The problem is that it does cost $15 beans.
A friend and I attempted to find a copy online and it worked for a few hours and then quit. Very cool UI enhancements though.

Hopefully someone will correct me if wrong. I'm just seeing your question now and after looking I don't see an option. I was a long running ADW advocate and have only been on LPP for a couple weeks. Truth be told I never looked as I've always like the black BG. Not sure if it is themeable like the Widgets as I haven't looked into it.

Personally, I'd go with ADW EX. For an app drawer I use Alt Drawer. You can change the background, icons, app name, hide apps, etc. Just remove the app drawer shortcut and replace it with Alt Drawer. The free version of LauncherPro cannot resize widgets, so that's lame. You have to edit the icons as you're applying them, if you want to change the icon later you can't just long-press like in ADW, you have to add it again. I thought LauncherPro was kind of mundane - I prefer ADW's hidden dock to LauncherPro's scrolling one. Two separate custom dock backgrounds, yay! Or even better - you can remove the main dock altogether and use only the hidden dock. Go Launcher felt clunky to me, and I absolutely hated the app drawer.
Whichever you choose is personal preference. Just please don't pirate any apps. The developers work hard to give you really awesome apps, the least you can do is give them a couple bucks.

That is very true. There are stand alone, customizable drawers as well. The LPP handling of icon changing irks me to no end. I hate using a separate app if I don't have to. I love ADWEX but it was just tweaking out on me and I decided to check out LPP. And yes, along with the widgets, you cannot change widget sizes by default.
The hidden ADW dock wad 'teh sex' too, as I relied on swipe gestures. This is one, of the many things, I've missed from ADW. The handling of the icon packs (apart from just the simple changing of the icons) is another bonus for ADW.
It all depends. The Twitter widget and scrollable dock were jazzy enough to keep me going. I'm sure ill be back, until the rewrite, at least, for LPP. Fede does great work and his launcher runs a helluva lot smoother on my device than Ander's. I got mad redraws that could not be remedied and overall lag that I haven't seen on LPP. Worth noting some have seen as much on LPP. Device specific, sure. That and the Uber Music release have me temporarily pumped.

I would really go for Go Launcher. It does all you want, has pretty good theme support, has a recent applications drawer and a drawer with running apps where you can close them. It doesn't reduce battery duration and it doesn't slow down your phone.
I've tried out a few of these launches, nothing has beaten ADW yet. I'll look into AltDrawer tho, thanks.
@plainjane - i don't pirate apps
Hey, so, I couldn't seem to find "alt drawer", and I tried "organized drawers" and it sucks.
Anyone have some links to these app drawer replacement apps?

Post Your HOMESCREEN [SGSL]

I'm starting this thread so that everyone can showoff their creativity in making Awesome Homescreens.
I myself put a lot of effort in customizing my Homescreens.
While posting your homescreens, please be specific on what you used to achieve it (eg. Name of widget or wallpaper).
So ill start with 2 homescreens which even got FEATURED on lifehacker.com
1. The Evil Android Homescreen.

I customized my homescreen to make it look simple, neat and smart, and it goes well with the Gingerbread green color.
I'm using the stock Gingerbread OS on my Samsung Galaxy SL with GO Launcher Ex as the launcher.
I am not using many widgets on my screen as I really like the wallpaper.
The Evil Android under the torn layer.
I've mainly kept all the Internet apps on the center screen. I use Minimalistic Text for the date.
You can tap the date to open any calendar app.
I've not kept any clock widget as the time is always there in the notification bar.
The black circle in the center is the Circle Launcher for more Internet apps which I don't use often but should be accessible quickly if I do need them. I also use Switch Pro for the Data connection and Bluetooth widget.
On the left screen, I again use Minimalistic Text for the battery. You can tap the widget to open the Battery Usage screen. I've kept this screen for things I don't do many times in a day (eg. Keep an alarm, Calculate things, or update or download a new app) but at the same time they shouldn't be far when I need them.
The right screen screen is for other utilities which I use regularly. I use Phantom Music Control for the music widget, which controls PowerAmp.
Though PowerAmp has its own widgets, I couldn't make those fit properly in the area I wanted and also there are no skins available for those widgets. So I'm using the Phantom Music Control widget as it gives options for customization including skins.
The icons are not included with any GO Launcher theme. I found some of them on the internet and others I've photoshopped. I made the wallpaper merging the Evil Android wallpaper which I found on Lifehacker and another from DeviantArt.

The second Homescreen.
2. The Aged Paper Homescreen.
Lifehacker link.
What I've done here is that I used this wallpaper, and cropped it in multiples of my screen resolution (480x800). That is, since I'm using three screens I cropped it in the resolution 1440x800.
I'm using GO Launcher EX launcher which uses a grid based home screen layout, so I created a grid in Photoshop to map the text icons. Those text icons are not actually icons.
I used the text tool in Photoshop to create them using various handwriting fonts which I found on the internet. Those texts are on the wallpaper itself.
The reason behind this was it gave me freedom to orient the text in any way i wanted and could use more space on the home screen. If I had made an icon file of the text and then had replaced it on the screen then that would had confined the text in the grid box which sometimes results in cropping of the icon depending on available space.
I used MultiPicture Live Wallpaper to set each screen's wallpaper. This allowed me to use the whole image as the wallpaper. After setting each screen's wallpaper I used a "blank" icon to replace each home screen icon.
When it comes to widgets: On the home screen and the left screen I've used Minimalistic Text with one of the fonts. The Data connection and Bluetooth toggle is Switch Prowidgets. Lastly, PowerAmp is on the Right screen.
