Smart Alarm Clock; and it's all but smart. It barely works on anything except 1.5/1.6, uses the built-in Android alarm clock (which is well known to not be all that reliable) and not all that good.
I too have been looking for a good sleep motion tool just to see how I'm sleeping. The alarm clock part of it Gentle Alarm takes care of well for me. Similar idea, except it simply plays a very quiet alarm up to 30m before your real alarm. If you're in a light sleep it will wake you up, otherwise you'll sleep until you're in a lighter part of your sleep cycle. Same idea, without the complication of putting it under the covers.

Well the alarm-part is not so important for me, it's the movement during sleep i want to record and find out since i wake up in the most strange positions most mornings and sleepsense seems to record that quite well.

+1 for an android motion-detector alarm clock....

Looks at "sleep as an Droid" on the market guys.

Be aware that the screen must stay on for the sensors to stay on, and it's reported to make your phone very hot. Not sure if these folks had put the phone in their pillow or under a sheet or what, but just be aware of the limitations.

Alarm Clock?

Looking for an alarm clock program.
Anything good out there?
There is CT Alarm Clock Lite (free)
That's not too bad
I was using SPB Time (not free - pretty swanky bit of kit though). Now I use MortPlayer and pick a tune to wake me up. I also use it as my main mp3 player as well.
I use Citytime Alarms and have done for years on my PDA too
Sorry to dig up this old topic but I have a quick question about the alarm clock on the Vox. I have found that if i set an alarm and turn off the phone, the phone does not switch itself on and play the alarm.
Are there any 3rd party apps that will turn the phone on when an alarm is due to play?
No, no software will do that.
Basically all the WindowsMobile devices are just like PCs, if they are "off"... they won't do anything for you.
They should never be "off", Flight mode is a best choice if you want to sleep well
Thanks for the tip. Tried this the other evening and it worked a treat. Only drained the battery 4% as well so that was pretty good going I think.
Chronos by activekitten is a really good program, been using it on all my smartphones for the last 3 years or so.

Sleep Cycle Alarm Clock

Hello,
I recently saw an app for the iphone called Sleep Cycle Alarm Clock and looked for it in XDA but couldn't find anything similar. Considering the HD2 has the hardware requirement for this app to work has anyone seen an app like this for the HD2?
http://www.lexwarelabs.com/sleepcycle/
thanks,
Siddhaarth
There is really an app for WinMo that uses the same interface like Sleep Cycle for iPhone.
This app is called Sleep Sense. Very simply made. You add your latest wakeup time (e.g. 8:00 a.m.) and then you lay down your phone on your bed. Then go to sleep and this app measures your sleep and wakes you up.
Hope that is what you looked for.
Thanks so much. Will try it out tonight...

Alarm App wtih LARGE Snooze, difficult Dismiss?

Hi everyone, I'm looking for the right alarm app for my purposes. I need the following features:
1. Large snooze button with difficult Dismiss button. I should preferably have to clear the alarm by going into the menu and turning them off. There should be basically no way that I can hit Dismiss on accident.
2. Per-alarm Snooze length. I like having the snooze be 10 minutes at first.. but if it's getting close to the time that I need to be up, I need it to be more like 2-3 minutes.
Klaxon works for the most part, but it kills my battery very quickly if I don't have it plugged in. I think it's because it keeps the screen on constantly. Maybe there's a way to turn this off? Also, with Klaxon, if my hand happens to hit the Snooze button (even while the alarm is not going off), the Snooze time gets reset. I think this may cause problems.
Does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks!
youre basically asking for the windows mobile app "g-alarm" right?
no there is nothing exactly like that on android as far as i know (unfortunatly )
anway i use "math alarm clock" at the moment which is also a very versatile app. it lacks the decreasing snooze and the big snooze button though.
I use Good Morning by Flywheel. It's in the app store. Has a large snooze button. You should try it out. This one does not keep the screen lit.
Alarm Klock isn't bad.

Alarm pro ver. 2 uses teh math dismiss. It's essentially the 2.x alarm with varying snooze options and math capability for dismissal. Icon for it is a red bell alarm. Come to think of it though, it might be called alarm clock plus or something close to that...
Gentle Alarm works great for me, you can limit the number of snoozes, the "I am awake" button is small and requires acknowledgement before it'll shut off the alarm, and you can even have a "follow the path" style dismissal method similar to the lock screen security unlock dots if you want to make sure your brain is turned on before managing to turn off the alarm.
What I also like is that it has a "pre" alarm which wakes you up during a light portion of your sleep cycle if you're already in light sleep. Basically just means you're already almost awake, and you'll wake up easily. It basically just starts a very light and quiet alarm a configurable time before your real alarm. If you're in deep sleep you won't hear it, otherwise it'll wake you up during the right cycle of your sleep pattern. Much better than being startled awake in deep sleep.
And it works 100% of the time, never failed me.
Another vote for gentle alarm. Really really good, never failed to wake me up. Trial is fully functional just doesn't play alarm on wednesday.

+1 more for Gentle Alarm.

Alarm App?

Coming from a Nexus One with CM7 (*drools*) he had added in lots of additional options in the, I guess, stock alarm settings.
One being how long the phone would ring if you didn't get to it. I had it set to unlimited, which meant it would just ring and ring and ring and ring and ring until I woke up.
With the unmodified alarm, I'm finding that I'm waking up late, and the phone saying missed alarm. What good is an alarm you can miss?
Is there an alarm app we can replace our with from CM7 or something that has those options? I can't see it requiring any special kernel or hardware.
My alarm seems to go on forever unless I hit Snooze or Cancel.
^ same here. I had an alarm set for 5pm and was away from my phone. When I came back to it around 5:40 or so it was still going off. stock alarm
I use Alarm Clock Xtreme Free. Really good alarm app. I love it.
Alarm Clock Plus: https://market.android.com/details?id=com.vp.alarmClockPlusDock
The options are sick.
Alarm Clock Xtreme - stupid name, excellent app. There are a ton of options, maybe bordering on too many (and I'm a "more options, please" kind of person). But it is the only alarm that has consistently been able to get my ass out of bed (and I've tried many). What works for me is setting it to require that I solve a series of math problems before I can dismiss the alarm, and setting a low max number of snoozes. If you're getting up to run first thing, you can set it to not dismiss until you reach a certain speed.
Looking back at what I've written, it seems ACX is the app to use if you hate your morning self and want to use cruelty to bend him to your will.
Edit: https://market.android.com/details?id=com.alarmclock.xtreme
I use kaloer clock. Its free and very customizable. Also serves as a nice bedside dock clock with live weather animations. Give it a shot. You can set it to stay on for 999 minutes if you think that would help you.
Gentle Alarm if you're willing to pay.
I've been using Klaxon since the G1 and never had a problem, although some reviews in the market claim to have some issues. I think it is mainly because it doesn't get updated too much anymore, as it is written my the developer of ClockworkMod and RomManager seems to be much more lucrative.

[APP][Android 6+] Ambi-Turner - wake up ambient display

I've created an app that wakes ambient display when you take the phone out of your pocket or if you have the phone face down and turn it over. The app is in addition to Google's ambient display and does not change your lock screen in anyway. It can also set "pulses" of ambient display. The free version allows you to have it always pulse while charging.
I added a few other paid features for tilt or lift to unlock, wave to unlock, pulsing at an interval, and battery percentage display on the ambient display.
Please let me know if you have any suggestions or run into any problems. Thank you!
Check it out: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.compass.ambiturner
Pulse means, as long as i have for exampel a unread whatsapp message, ambi is showing at the set pulse time?
Maybe ill test it on OP3 with CM14.1 running ... will report back!

Correct. There is a filter for you to choose which apps can trigger a pulse. The pulse timeout is how long do you want the pulses to continue before it stops (to save battery). Pulse will temporarily pause when your phone goes into deep sleep. I could wake it up, but that's a much larger battery hit.
The other features seems to have little to now battery impact. Pulse is fine as long as the interval isn't set crazy low.
So far I've only personally tested it on stock Pixel XL.
ok, so far its working fine here!
Just the pulse isnt working (tried whatsapp and google messenger)
Love the idea off showing the battery, but its not that looking good :silly:
but i think, you just can manage this as "notification", or am i wrong?
anyways, good idea so far, will follow (bought it anyway)

The battery level is a notification. I'll create a custom layout to improve the look in a future update.
The pulse is the least reliable feature. I'm still working out the kinks, but doze and deep sleep definitely are one problem. I'm testing various ways and will try to get it as consistent as possible.
Alarm Manager would work but it would drain battery.
Looks great! Just to confirm - you need to have a lock screen set up for it to work?

Yes, it works with androids Ambient Display. So if you have that and it's turned on it should work.
So I've done some limited testing with the app white listed from doze and so far it improves the responsiveness significantly. I don't know the battery impacts yet, but if it's not noticeable I'll add code to prompt users to white list it.
Other upcoming changes:
Advanced settings to adjust wait times for how long the phone has to be in your pocket or laying flat before a wake can occur.
A pulse option that initially pulses faster when a notification comes in, and progressively shows down until the timeout.
Possibly change in lock screen battery indicator appearance.
Filter on laying flat thresholds. I suspect the accelerometer incorrectly reports the phone tilted while it is laying flat on occasion.
New update posted.
I may have discovered what is causing the intermittent nature of wave to wake. I made some changes in how I'm using the proximity sensor so that should help. I'll have to wait and see after a day or so of use to see how consistent it is.
I also added an option to turn off the wake from pocket.
There's now a help screen with an email developer button and some troubleshooting hints. I've been getting a large number of 1 star reviews, and many of them are people who don't realize you need to have ambient display turned on and a lock screen set, so I included more info on that.
Oh, and the notification is now hidden unless you have the Battery Indicator selected!
If anyone is still having problems with tilt to wake please let me know. On my Pixel XL that has been working every time all day. There is sometimes a delay, but I think that's due to the aggressiveness of Android 7.1 putting the device into sleep.
Awesome app. I bought it mainly because of Wave To Wake, but for some reason it works two times on my Nexus 6 and then stops working until I turn my screen on and off again. Oh, and I've already whitelisted Ambi-Turner from the battery optimisation.
Also I would love if you could make Ambient Display work as soon as I turn the screen off, without having to wait for 10 or 3 seconds.
Thank you a lot for your hard work, I hope this can be fixed. Please contact me if I can help with anything!

I'm trying to get wave to wake as consistent as possible. Did you update last night? Let me know if that helps it.
I'm actually working on some advanced settings to let you control those timeouts.

I'm testing it right now and it's still quite inconsistent. Though I never know if I'm waving too fast or too slow, you know? Maybe if there was a way to make it more sensitive? Thanks for the attention! ;D
Edit: just to be clear, Wave To Wake does only work two times, but I discovered that I don't actually need to turn the screen on for it to work, I can just move the device (then Ambient Display will turn on) and after that the Wave To Wake will work again (though still only two times). I believe it has something to do with the time after it's been awake or something like that.
Android Wear Issue
Ok...I love the app when its working and even bought the Pro. So worth it to me.
This morning I forgot my Android Wear watch (LG Urbane) at home and Ambi Turner was working perfectly. I had to run home at lunch, grabbed my watch, turned it on and now Ambi Turner isn't working.
Any thoughts how to get around this?

UPDATE: I turned off the 'Mute' for my watch and Ambi Turner started working again. Hmm...gotta thing this one through. Turning on Mute alerts my watch, but I also see them on Amber Display.

I'm adding some customization for the wave timeouts. I wish I could measure hand distance from phone but the pixel and nexus sensors don't have that granularity the way moto phones do.

Hmm that's strange. I'm using a garmin fitness watch that has notifications and haven't seen anything like that. Does your watch somehow mute notifications on your phone so that only the watch displays them?

Yes...there is a setting in Android Watch (Silence phone while wearing watch ) in the new version. It used to be 'Mute calls and notifications'. Its actually very handy so that when I'm in a meeting, I just get a vibration on my watch instead of my phone making any noise. Add the 'Feel the Wear' app where you can customize the vibration pattern per app...just a great combo.
EDIT: Since I just got a new version of Android Watch, it seems I can turn on the Silence option and the AmbiTurner, wake on wave, is working! Woo HOO!
Made tons of improvements. Tilt to wake should be extremely reliable now. There is also a lift to wake option. I reduced the speed you need to wave, so it should be much easier to trigger now. I also added an option to always pulse while charging.
Let me know how it works!
I had taken a break from updating it because I became a father but I have a little spare time now.
