hi, yeah sorry i mean to remote control a win7 pc, I cant find anything on marketplace called logmein, only comes up with phonemypc which ive tried and dont like.
How do i get this "logmein" ?
there was a .apk download somewhere here on the xda site, do a search for "logmein ignition beta" or something like that. you will also need a logmein account, its free and you need to download and install a virtually invisible program on your computer.
ok so it would seem that the beta is over (strange as mine is still running fine) but if you go here https://secure.logmein.com/welcome/android/, you might find what you are looking for when it is released, unless anyone else can find the download link.

Hmm the only one I've actually liked is phonemypc. Sure it doesn't have sound and no login support yet, but nothing beats getting to see your pc screen on your phone with 20 fps
I've also tried Remote RDP, but it didn't give me anywhere near the framerates of phonemypc on my part, plus setting up RDP is more of a pain if you want to use it over 3G.

Gmote basically turns your phone into a mouse control for a HTPC...
not the same thing...
Can someone describe the differences between phonemypc and logmein? I currently use phonemypc and like it, but if there's something that would suite me better, I'd switch.

Not true, my friend uses it to control windows media center, you have to make the remote how you want it, he said its not obvious at first but once you figure it out you can program virtually any command in

Believe me, the BEST of all!!
xtralogic.com/rdpclient.shtml
Gmote is a great start: Stream music from the computer to the phone, Control PowerPoint, Use as a mousepad, Use to control windows media player, Use keyboad on phone to type on computer (Don't know why you would but neat anyway), Free version available but only us$2.99....BUT only on the wifi network, not remote thru cell towers..Xtralogic's Remote Desktop Client is a complete RDP with password protect and can be use anywhere!! BUT is US$19.95.....So there are 2 options depending on what suits your needs...Hope that helps!!!

What you should do is google 'RDP' and then see if your definition works along the lines of GMotes functionality.
To answer your question in short, no it doesnt.

I tried a couple of rdc's and Phonemypc was the best. Its one of my three favorite apps. Setup is an absolute breeze and the developer says sound will be added. Picture is great watching video so after sound it'll be perfect.
Hey people, thanks for the comments, I tried gmote it doesnt even recognise a simple .avi file on my Pc, was easy to setup and connect but i need it to play movies.
Does anyone have a .apk of the xtralogic rdp??

Posting of the .apk is not allowed because it is a paid app. But I agree, I have tried every other RDP client for android, and this is tops. If you need great RDP support on your phone, its worth it.

Not very. In fact, just from guessing your WebKey username from your XDA username, I'm on your phone right now.
On a side note, judging from the files in your download folder, you seem obsessed with goats and midgets. Scary.

Hahaha, I thought about using my XDA name but decided against it for obvious reasons.
In all seriousness though, do you have any idea?

Hi! I'm one of the developer of Webkey. The webserver uses a standard digest authentication, there is no security leak that I'm aware of. The digest method uses a hash function, which glues together the current time and your password. The browser sends over only this hashed mess (and not your password), which is only good for authentication for an hour.
If you use http method then the data is sent trough an unsecured connection, and it can be sniffed by those who has physical access to your connection. Unfortunately the https method is only available if you can directly connect to your phone, if you use our server (androidwebkey.com) to proxy the request, then you have to use http. We don't read and don't save your data, we only read the first line of the http request, which contains the phone's name that you want to connect to. The phones and the browsers are connected to our server, and it has to pair them, so it has to know the nickname from the browser's request. We are working on a solution which uses DNS subdomain (like yourname.androidwebkey.com), if this can be read from an encrypted https stream, then we will implement it, this way the connection will be entirely encrypted between your phone and your browser.
Can this only be used in the local network and not over the internet? It keeps telling me that it cannot locate the device. In the description it says "finds all local devices."
You can certainly use it over the net.
You will need to have the splashtop app running on your machine and need to set up port forwarding on your home router. The application uses tcp ports 6783, 6784 and 6785.

You will also need your IP that your ISP assigns you. Hopefully it doesnt change regularly then you should be good to go.
A fix for that is to sign up w dyndys.org. then u can use hostname instead of ip.

Terrible idea to use it over the internet, just do a port scan for those ports and you can see anyone running this over the net. Then it's just a matter of exploiting the host or figuring out a weak password.

It would be better to set up a VPN back to your home network, then use the software to connect to your computer.
Go to logmein.com and check this site out. I've been using them for 3 years now

Thanks, I'll look into this.
I am trying to use an app called eshare which allows one to send a single file or even the complete contents of the sd card to another device. It is done via an FTP server. I've tried to figure this out myself for the past couple of hours but all I've gotten for my time is a headache.
I was hoping someone here might be able to help with this. I really have no clue what FTP is other than what I've read. When I got the app it seemed like it would be simple. Maybe it is but I don't even know what to do to start.
The instructions on the app are obviously intended for someone familiar with how FTP works, and I am not a member of that group.
The instructions begin as follows:
How to access.
Open the ftp:// link with wifi on PC or other device using your browser, finder (Mac os), file explorer (win) or other FTP client.
What I tried was typing the ftp address into the browser and nothing happened. From what I've read online it appears that I need to download some sort of FTP client but I really just don't understand.
I'm sorry for what I'm sure is a very elementary question to all of you, but I'm completely lost and really do have a splitting headache after trying to figure this out. I don't know if this matters, but I'm using a Nexus 7, a Galaxy SII, and an Asus Transformer tf201 (along with my laptop)
Thank you so much in advance for your help.

Perhaps I do. Thank you for your help. Unfortunately the headache I mentioned in my original post is the result of a brain disease that I have which makes reading (especially reading things that I don't understand) very difficult. Prior to having this disease I could have easily done this. It's also likely that I used how to do this. Unfortunately the UT Southwestern Clinical Trial I underwent created havoc with my memory and cognitive abilities. I just thought someone here might be able to help me. Thank you all the same for your help.
Check out FolderSync Lite. It's the best sync app I've found and use for couple of months now. It supports a load of transfer protocol including FTP SFTP SMB and much more (I just don't remember the rest)

I create small proxy. Subset of SandroProxy.
It can be used for corporate/university network environments that requires proxy authentication.
Basic, digest, windows (ntlm) authentication support.
Supports pac wpad proxy scripts.
Works without rooting phone.
Maybe, just maybe there is somebody on xda that have non rooted phone and will find Drony usefull.

Drony with NTML version 2 with hostname
Hi,
Drony works like a charm except in a special environment.
I connect to an environment where the ISA proxy is using NTLM autentication with username/password, Domain Name and .. hostname.
I guess that the current version of Drony in Play Store does not take into account a possible "hostname", ¿no?
SandroProxy does?
Thanks a lot for the great work.
Regards
NicBBB
You are right. You can not specify hostname at the moment in Drony or SandroProxy for ntlm auth.
So far you are the first one that need this. Your ISA proxy checks also hostname?
I can change that can be specified in preferences, but I will need you that you test if it works okey.
