[APP] [KEYBOARD] BlindType - no accuracy needed - Nexus One Themes and Apps

Hello,
have you seen BlindType?
http://www.blindtype.com/
*UPDATE*
Guess what! Google bought BlindType (german)
This could end up as an Android only Keyboard now as it was originally planned for Android and iPhone

That is pretty sick!

I am going to go ahead and say that it uses magic to do it. I couldn't imagine the work gone into that prediction algorithm. Wow.

Before anyone else says it ... "How's the battery life?" Lol.
Not like I care though about the battery life. This should be pretty interesting when it comes out.

I also find it really awesome
I hope it's getting released with german.. not english only :|

I think I know how this works, I think it uses your key presses as points in a path, similar to how swype uses direction changes, looks very clever!

And it scales and rotates until it finds the best match, you can type as if the keyboard is diagonal and half the size. That's what I think is the crazy part, and the fact it can do it so fast means their recognition algorithms are very impressive.

this is sick!! i cant wait for it to come out.

Not gonna lie.
That made my day.
I can't wait until it comes out.

Holly Crap! Thats crazy!

Similar to swype, but you type instead of swyping. But the rotation and scaling is pretty sick

Hmmm I see what he did there.......AWESOME

It looks like the OP took that from the BlindType tagline on their website..."Touch typing the way it should be. Accuracy not required."

Thick Buttons..........Best keyboard app.

I dont know how many of you all knw about this i did a search and no thread came up so im sharing info. Im running the latest damage, and i found this keyboard app in the market called ThickButtons, its easily the best keyboard out there that ive ever used in my opinion. What it does is when youre typing it makes the keys that it assumes you want to click big, like it enlarges the letters so that it makes it easier to type. Also it never lags dudes. I encourage you guys to give thickbuttons a try i fell in love with it. I looked for it in 1.5 but it seems to only be in the newest market. enjoy this info if you care. When you guys try it come let me know if you agree with me.
Awesome, ill look into it.

Yea, I heard about this app months ago. Just never tried it out. You would think after so many versions of Better Keyboard they would make it better and more responsive.
They should call it not better than stock keyboard lmfao

I would never EVER use Swype. I think its garbage.
I tried this and I had more lag and I'm use to the buttons where they are and when this app makes keys bigger I hit the wrong button. My stock keyboard runs with almost no lag.

Holy crap. The lag on this keyboard is horrendous.
I just went into sms and typed "This is a test for the new thick buttons keyboard". I then set the phone down, and 45 seconds later it finished typing it out, and it said "This id w trdt of thw nee tjivk nuttins keubiatd".
I'll try rebooting, maybe that will fix it.

thats insane because it doesnt lag at all for me
wow!! we have a few different thoughts on this kb. But &roid rage is a reliable source so ill have to pass. swype, android and htc kb are all built into my rom so this is no great loss. Personally i dont really use any kb on a phone since i hate them, but if i MUST be tortured, for me its a tie between the swype swype, and the android kb responsiveness

A reboot got rid of the lag a little bit, but I just cant get used to it. Oh well. I'm sure it works great for others, just like I LOVE swype but others dont. To each their own.

Froyo 2.2 Keyboard in 2.1

The keyboard is incredible in 2.2 froyo on the evo, but i'd love to see it in 2.1. I've tried to install the apk in froyo through adb to fresh .3, but no avail.
The apk is designed for 2.2, so it cannot be installed on 2.1, and gets a [INSTALL_FAILED_OLDER_SDK] error.
So what would need to probably happen for it to run on 2.1 is for it to be decompiled and then recompiled under 2.1. Can anyone help point me in the right direction.
PS if you havent used the froyo stock keyboard, its amazing.
I totally agree! If it's possible, I'd love to use it! The 2.1 stock keyboard doesn't compare to what's in 2.2. So much better!
What are the major differences? Aside from the keyboard and its numbers?
I would be impressed if the keyboard was enabled multi touch.
The 2.2 keyboard has a better way of adding new words, and seems to have better precision.
Any ideas anyone?

I believe this is doable but it'd be a bit of work. Probably would have to start with the 2.2 source and do some hacking since the 2.2 keyboard relies on 2.2 API's for things like voice input.
2.2 example of keyboard
I like it, me want it!
I didn't even know it did that till I saw that video...
Just tried it and it works like a charm.

hmm thats a nice feature, hopefully the xda keyboard will get that soon.
i am using swype on my EVO now ,, is there a XDA customized KB that is better?
I like the HTC keyboard because of the "mic" input option. Do any other keyboards have this?
Yes froyo has that..actually I think the voice to txt is more accurate in froyo also.

Cool idea.. but I wouldn't use it. Even his example got cumbersome.. like a zip code. Why not just switch to numeric and type it, rather then dragging up on every character. Plus, the sense keyboard already has these extras programmed into the keys with a long press. Doesn't intrigue me too much.
I use the voice to text all the time as a matter fact i'm using right now.

I can tell due to lack of punctuation.
You guys know you can speak punctuation too right? Not that I'm telling you to, but just in case anyone didn't know that. "period" will give you a period , "question mark" a question mark. Im sure you get it

[Thinktank] Developing some AOSP roms!

I'm surprised that there haven't been any AOSP roms yet. Sense uses up a lot of ram and memory, AOSP roms would definitely make this phone beastlier.
Besides noxtel and teamsilence, do we even have any other developers? Pretty sad because this is such a good device.

Some people take the internet way too seriously. Lighten up. A simple Google search would have told you what it meant. Just because someone tried to give you a nudge for self help is no reason to call names and act like a digital douchebag.

All good. Now, that I see that you're from twin cities... how's your data connection? Mine drops off every few minutes, tower hand-off issue? Only drops for a second or two but makes streaming music VERY annoying.
Sorry to go off-topic here.
lmao I love when people use LMGTFY... by the way if you didnt figure out what it was its just stock style android like what would come on the G1, G2, or Nexus phone's, people call it AOSP or Vanilla Android... I call it AOSP but it doesn't truly make sense because thats the project as a whole...
btw if you just looking for a stock AOSP rom I ported it for my mt4g :/ I just did it for my personal use so I added the custom things that I like but I don't really have the time to trouble shoot it or add other peoples custom things to it.... but if you want it let me know and Ill shoot it over

Yea..I am from like the northern suburbs(blaine) and I work in like North Saint Paul(Vandais Heights)... I don't really ever lose my H when it would ever really annoy me.. like I don't get it at home, but I have wifi there...and I don't get it on like one road on my way to work which sucks because I stream pandora to my radio in my car...but other than that I am really satisfied, but that might be simply because I am not a real POWER user...well I am I guess.. but maybe then its just because I came from an unlocked iphone 2g...so lets just say a laggy "H" is still a FAR better connection than edge...hahah

I <3 you... god.. I understand it must be annoying when you think people aren't atleast attempting to google things first, but the truth is I just don't understand the **** that I find on google, I need someone to take a sentence out of their life and put it to me in lamens terms... like you just did.. I didin't really know what AOSP was cept an acronym for android open source project...but now that you have explained to me that it is just anothe way of referring to vanilla builds or whatever, that makes a lot more sense to me.... I don't think I am looking or an AOSP though... cuz I like the friendstream widget, and the news widget...cuz it vastly entertains me to browse status updates and what not from a home screen rather then having to go to a site or open an application...or pay for a widget that mirrors a widget I have for free... naawww mean????? So I don't really know but ...I? Like? Sense?..

lmao im not gonna lie... i always preferred sense... that is until 2.2... that really stepped it up in my opinion, when I used my nexus one I always said it would be great if we could mash the 2... For example I like the aosp gallery but like the sense widgets (I guess I'm just a sucker for animations lol)... I built an aosp rom for myself a few weeks back but missed sense so went back to work on my tmo sense... now that I changed my status icons, changed recent apps in the status bar to be like the vibrants status bar and and changed the myfav's quick launch button changed I think I'm finally content in keeping it this way... or at least for the rest of the day lmao

TouchPal keyboard 4.8 beta

this keyboard is the best I've used yet. it's like swype except it learns from it's mistakes and adapts to your typing style.
It's in beta so you can try to get on, or if not search for it you can easily find it.
i highly recommend it!
Here's a video of it in action:
Gotta try it, thanks for the heads up! But if it's buggy, I'll revert back to Swiftkey X.

the version reads v4.8.16391
& yes you can swype on, It has touchpal curve, you mean that right?
is it the same version?
I couldn't cope with the auto correction when pressing space bar .. and if i turned that off it wouldn't suggest words for me. Plus the swype was having problems with the word prediction. They are releasing a newer beta for it soon that should fix some of these problem though may have to re-try it again once that comes out.

Unified builds introduced by CM not so long ago opened the door for using many other moto_msm8960 ROMs on Photon Q.
CM11 is in a good shape with M6 release coming out at the end of this week.
Everything is in progress. Naturally, we're mostly waiting for the pending 3.4 kernel source release for Razr M / HD by Motorola at this point...
Actually I've seen some phones modded like this on ebay, mostly offered from HK/SG. Though the colors were placed more usefully.
Still: Very nice mod. Awaiting the full guide.
