Android Tablet - Android Software/Hacking General [Developers Only]

Wonder if I have ask wrong qustion in a wrong place.
Do we need to root Android Apad? Or it already rooted.
How do we root it if not?
Thanks

what kind of your tablet?
and what procie that it have?
what type of OS, ROM, etc ???
gimme all specs.

I also have same device:
Specs:
- Android OS
- Version 1.7.4
- Kernel Version: 2.6.29.00236-g4f8dbbb-drity
My question is:
- where can i get an update for the OS (custom or official)
- how to update/upgrade?
Thanks

I believe the original poster is referring to this device:
(sorry, gotta break up the urls to post)
reviewguy.net /gadgets/apad-clone-is-ipad-android.html
I don't have one, but if what I've read is correct you get root access through ADB by default, so something like the local privilege escalation methods should work:
droidhacks.com /2009/05/root-access-terminal-under-cupcake/

I'm back sorry MIA for few days, cause trying out on the Apad.
My Apad spec
Android 2.1 Update 1
Telechips TCC8902 800Mhz
256MB ram
4GB storage but only see 200mb++ ??
cirrus sound chips
single touch 800x480
not sure about others
Trying to customize the OS cause the OS comes with it is buggy, crashing, and slow.....
Thanks

ROMs are pretty device-specific, so if you only find a ROM for your device, then you can flash, otherwise stay away as it can easily brick your device.
Many Chinese forums do custom ROM development works like here in XDA, you may have to ensure which is your device first of all, and then search about it in Google.
As with your questions:
1 - Yes, have to determine which is your chipset (Can get all infos by using Quadrant Benchmark app)
2 - Install the ROM if you only find anything for your device.
Well, it would help if you could post some pictures of the device. Maybe someone will know what it is.
But anyway, basically you have to find out what chipset it has (CPU architecture, SoC etc.) and compare it to some branded devices so that you know what kind of ROMs and kernels you should be looking for.
Another option is to pull out any information about the currently istalled ROM and kernel and search a little to find out for what devices those are.
Good luck btw

I highly doubt because the hardware mentioned over there is pretty much unknown or I've not heard at least. If it was Qualcomm it starts with MSMxxx , Mediatek starts with MTxxx, Rockchip with RKxxx so I'm clueless.
The nearest bet you could do is, somehow find the device Model name and search for it, maybe some Chinese forums does development of that device, but don't give much hope.

How To Root + Enable ADB On Versus/CnM Touchpad 10.1DC (and other generic tablets)

Wasn't sure where to post this, so figured here was the safest option - just change it if it needs it!
I posted this guide for rooting the stated tablet recently and somebody suggested I post it on XDA so here it is. It works to root the Versus 10.1DC tablet, which was later rebranded to the CnM Touchpad 10.1DC, and also enables the use of ADB on this tablet. It's highly likely that this will also work for the other Versus/CnM Touchpads (and probably just generic tablets in general), but there are other options available for rooting those tablets so it's not as important.
Anyway, for the complete guide just check out my original post: http://blog.zackehh.com/how-to-enable-adb-and-root-cnm-touchpad-10-1dc/
Rockchip - CnM TouchPad 10.1DC
Hi, I have got this tablet Rockchip - CnM TouchPad 10.1DC. It has this Dual-Core 1.6 CPU ARM Cortex A9
and it seems to have Quad-GPU, but I can't find the name of this chip (Quad Core Mali-400 Graphics Processor maybe?)
Anyway. I have been using it for 1 week now. And it is on Jelly Bean 4.1.1 and it is kind of slow. Google Chrome is unusable on it.
Takes ages to load, keyboard pops up slowly, and it freezes when browsing from time to time. the same issue in Adobe Reader, it is way
to slow and freezes too.
My questions are:
1) Can I install Jelly Bean 4.2 on this device? (no official 4.2 from the maker)
2) Is there anything that can make this tablet faster?
Thanks.
Juris.

1). There are some unofficial CyanogenMod ports, there's probably a 4.2 version out there now.
2). Just removing all the bloat made mine fairly smooth

I'll try find out for you, I can't seem to find them anymore. If they've been taken down for some reason, I may compile my own.

[Q] lots of questions on changing OS

Can you guys point me in the right direction.
I was gonna post this in the help thread but Im afraid I have too many questions
1. What does it mean when I get 'Parse Error' when trying to install a game .apk?
Ive seen other phones with same cpu/gpu with new ICS OS running the game.
Does this mean the game doesnt support my old Gingerbread OS even though I have the same cpu/gpu?
For example, my phone can run GTA Vice City without any lag, but it gets the parse error when trying to install
Evertales, Gangstar west, and Brother in arms 2.
2. If I do need ICS, how do I format and change OS of my phone?
Ive seen other phones such as the Micromax A68 Smarty with the same MediaTek MT6515 cpu has ICS on them.
Im wondering if its possible to change the Gingerbread OS of my phone to ICS.
3. If I manage to successfully update to ICS, wont the phone need drivers for Wifi/Wlan, Camera, Touchpad, etc.?
I ask this because I build computers and know that windows doesnt auto detect drivers for some motherboards.
Phone model: Cherry Mobile Sonic
Specs:
4-inch HVGA (320x480) capacitive display, 144ppi
1GHz single-core MediaTek MT6515 processor
Android 2.3.5 (Gingerbread)
PowerVR SGX531 GPU
256MB of RAM (211MB usable)
512MB of internal storage (180MB usable)
microSD support up to 32GB
1 - You answered the question yourself
Yes, your phone OS may not support the app.
2 -Check the development threads for your phone on xda
3- No.

[Q] ip330tv rom above android 2.3

Hi to everyone first post here so i hope this is the right session anyway:
i've bought this mentioned trevi ip 330tv:
it's supposed to be an arm cortex a9 with 512mb of ram, i'm trying to understand if this is just a rebrand of some chinese/international model in order to find a newer rom (currently it's running android 2.3).
i've linked what the datasheet trevi produce on its site hoping someone may be able to recognize it from the picture.
ps: yes data sheet say it's a cortex a8 but it's wrong probably they planned to release it with a8 and then they move to a9 without update the manuals.
any other kind of advice on this kind of device it's welcome, i'm aware that a lot of this device share same hardware so i hope that someone can point me to a good rom even if not really intended for this specific device.
thank you in advance

Android on Up-Board? How??

Hi you all,
I have a question and I hope I got the group right to put my question up.
It's about installing Android on a new kind of development board: The Up-board!
It looks like a Raspberry Pi but it has some differances. It has 1, 2 or 4 GB internal memery, 16, 32 or 64 eMMC storage and an Intel x5-Z8350 QuadCore 1.44Ghz (1.92GHz) 64 bit 2W CPU. And it can run a full Windows 10 version, Windows IOT, Linus or Android version!
And now my question: were can I get a Android version that I can Install on that board?
I mean is there a site from google were one can download a standard Android version?
The up-board is still under development (you can pre-order) and perhaps they put a download link up by the time they release it to the public.
But I want to know some things in advance. "Come well prepared" you could name it.
Did you got it working ? I have same question.
