I have a device (mobile phone) with no company brand name, the operating system in Android.(chinese mobile phone)
I would like to install a newer version of Android (jelly bean),what are the procedures I have to do to:
1-determine the device chips
2-install the new rom since I dont know the device type ?

ROMs are pretty device-specific, so if you only find a ROM for your device, then you can flash, otherwise stay away as it can easily brick your device.
Many Chinese forums do custom ROM development works like here in XDA, you may have to ensure which is your device first of all, and then search about it in Google.
As with your questions:
1 - Yes, have to determine which is your chipset (Can get all infos by using Quadrant Benchmark app)
2 - Install the ROM if you only find anything for your device.
Well, it would help if you could post some pictures of the device. Maybe someone will know what it is.
But anyway, basically you have to find out what chipset it has (CPU architecture, SoC etc.) and compare it to some branded devices so that you know what kind of ROMs and kernels you should be looking for.
Another option is to pull out any information about the currently istalled ROM and kernel and search a little to find out for what devices those are.
Good luck btw

I highly doubt because the hardware mentioned over there is pretty much unknown or I've not heard at least. If it was Qualcomm it starts with MSMxxx , Mediatek starts with MTxxx, Rockchip with RKxxx so I'm clueless.
The nearest bet you could do is, somehow find the device Model name and search for it, maybe some Chinese forums does development of that device, but don't give much hope.

If you are looking to build custom Kernel, then you can download your device-specific kernel sources from Samsung developer website. Identify sources with your Model Name.
I guess Galaxy Grand is using Broadcom chipset, but not sure. To identify chipset type Qualcomm starts by the name MSMxxxxx and Mediatek by MTKxxxx etc.
Use this.
you can download app to get details.
You can download application from play store

Hi people!
I've chosen this section because I really don't know if there is any other section that is appropriate for this thread. Please let me know if there is !
I've received recently a Galaxy S4 as a gift and I was terribly disappointed to find out that it was just a copy...
So my device is an MTK based device, here are the tech specs :
Hardware :
CPU : Mediatek MT6577 x2 1Ghz
RAM : 512Mo
Display : 5.0 inches, 540x960, 240dpi
GPU: PowerVR SGX 531(Single core GPU)
Smartphone type : HDC I9500 (Galaxy S4 layout)
Software :
Android Version : 4.2.2
Kernel Version : 3.4.0 (eng.rooter.1372857005)
Rooted? : Yes
So the phone is rooted by default, but I want to know if i can install CWM Recovery, dump the current ROM or anything else? (especially to install CM10.1 ^^)
Thanks in advance !

Somewhat, maybe because it was not the "real" S4, but it's way better than my old Galaxy Fit ^^ !

You can't just dump it. The fake Galaxy S4 is totally different spec-wise from the real thing. The userland software (which is closed source and cannot be modified) will be broken as it relies on hardware capabilities which simply do not exist on the fake one and cannot be emulated in the kernel.

Great, I don't know if it really worth the try but I'm going to check out all this. Any idea how I will flash the patched kernel then? Odin or something else?
EDIT: Oh nevermind, I've found something on google, I'll try to check all this and do my best! Thanks !
Any differences you can spot inside the "touchwiz ui", those mediatek s4 copies are sold as low as MYR 468 per unit @ USD 146.25. The body part is an exact copy of i9500, which looks exactly "Genuine". The thing that I notice it's fake because the status bar clock is not grey ( Samsung default) but instead it's Google Blue. And also there aren't much to set up under the device setting tab.

With an ancient copy, those little details were spotted, but with the version I got, they've made a lot of changes in TouchWiz UI to make it look like the original one, even the settings tabs were modded so we can choose them and navigate as if we're using a GS4. They've even made it possible to fake Antutu results, and a part of CPU-Z infos .
The funny part is that the phone emulates gesture with the proximity sensor (only from right to left xD ) !
@ivkos I saw that some guy uploaded a dump of the ROM, that's why I asked if it was possible, but he's not saying anything on how he did that :/ !
Bro, what is the black outline?

A Privacy Screen Filter + Screen protector ^^ .
Hi to everyone first post here so i hope this is the right session anyway:
i've bought this mentioned trevi ip 330tv:
it's supposed to be an arm cortex a9 with 512mb of ram, i'm trying to understand if this is just a rebrand of some chinese/international model in order to find a newer rom (currently it's running android 2.3).
i've linked what the datasheet trevi produce on its site hoping someone may be able to recognize it from the picture.
ps: yes data sheet say it's a cortex a8 but it's wrong probably they planned to release it with a8 and then they move to a9 without update the manuals.
any other kind of advice on this kind of device it's welcome, i'm aware that a lot of this device share same hardware so i hope that someone can point me to a good rom even if not really intended for this specific device.
thank you in advance
Hello Guys,
I recently bought a Gigabyte Gsmart Arty A3, its a very nice phone for the price.
Chipset Mediatek MT6582
CPU Quad-core 1.3 GHz Cortex-A7
GPU Mali-400MP2
I just rooted it and have been looking around for a custom ROM to install but there aren't any available!!! anywhere!!!
incidently Gigabyte doesn't come up in the device search on this forum!
So please pay attention to Gigabyte as its a great company which makes great phones that too for cheap.
Anything, even AOSP ROMS will be great.
Yep, that's a pretty cool device for being low-cost. But this is probably the wrong thread, to ask this. You can try to submit a request for a new device forum or use the low activity device forum and start a thread, getting yous hand dirty in the process...

Your biggest hurdle is that they almost never release kernel source for the device. So that best you can hope for are some alpha ported roms that may or may not work

You could but depending on Tue country the device comes from it might be pointless. Request it from the OEM..they will most likely say they don't have it as they just import and rebrand the device.

Arty A3 to Android 6 or higher?
Hello, i have Gigabyte Gsmart Arty A3. My stock firmware looks all different than others custom roms downloaded. All i can do is reinstall the stock via FlashTool with scatter file. Can you help me, how to get Android 6 or higher version to my phone? Thanks for replies
Hello all,
I am interested in rooting and installing a custom ROM on the Chinesium phone I bought the other day and I am having a hard time getting started.
(Can't post a link to the phone but a Google search of E&L S60 should get you there)
Rooting seems to be specific to the model of the phone and processor type, and I am seeing nothing that coincides with my model number.
CPU: Arm64 - V8A
Model: S60 (full_kxd6753_65_s60)
Manufacturer: Alps
OS: Nougat (7.0)
Does anyone know how to go about figuring out
1st - How to Root this thing
2nd- What ROM to install
Do I just look for other phones with known Rooting techniques that closely match my hardware? I'm not adverse to bricking it, but I also don't want to just see what happens by trying something that has a high probability of bricking my phone either!
Any and all guidance and/or suggestions would be welcome!
Screw that guy! lol!
Well.. I soft bricked it. YAY!
I used the ROM for a Umi Iron Pro with the exact same specs... and BRICK.
Any pearls of wisdom?
Please?
