[PORT] HTC Desire Lockscreen for Fresh 2.1.2+ (w/ Menu Unlock Disable Option) - Hero CDMA Themes and Apps

While I'm probably not going to run this lockscreen myself (I prefer the rotary style), I saw this request go unfulfilled for a few weeks, so I figured I'd crack it open and take a look once I had a free moment.
Turns out, the primary problem with attempting to run the GSM Hero port on our CDMA Heros was due to inconsistencies in our framework files causing the call to incorrect graphics.
All credit goes to the original port from Desire to GSM Hero by HomerSp. I simply decompiled, edited where necessary, and recompiled to get working on our CDMA Heros.
For those unaware, the Desire lockscreen is very similar to our stock HTC lockscreen, with the exception being that when you swipe down the unlock bar, the background / wallpaper remains static / does NOT move with the bar. Apparently, some like this suttle difference better than our default lockscreen.

I suppose...

Does this require a de-odex ROM?
Also, is nandroid the only way to undo?

Appreciate fulfilling my request

Thanks a bunch JsChiSurf, it works perfectly. I appreciate your effort in modding the Hero

This is fantastic. Thanks for putting it together - especially since you don't even think you are going to use it.
btw - I too would love a version that had menu menu to unlock disabled -- can't really use it until then.

is there any way we can get this working on ZenEXP

just flashed this! another one of your sick mods! ran into a little problem with the music player controls tho. not sure if the controls can be fixed but here is what i mean: the controls icons are different from what it should be. although they still do reverse, pause, and forward a song when pressed.

As you guys can see, all I did was make sure the default screen was working, but didn't test much of anything else. Thanks for the heads up. The music controls should be an easy fix. I'll have to look at the alarm and see if the same issue is causing the problem. As mentioned in the OP, since we are running off of a different framework, the music controls have the wrong image references, and why you are seeing wacky stuff.
I should have the music controls fixed, and a menu unlock disabled option out shortly. Don't know the specific problem with the alarm yet, so I'll have to investigate.

As a "general" rule of thumb, most mods in functionality, etc, are going to require a deodexed ROM. You can nandroid, or first adb pull your existing lockscreen, or rename your existing lockscreen, or pull the previous lockscreen from the zip file of your current ROM, etc. There are lots of ways to return to your previous version...

Okay, OP has been updated with fix for the music controls in the original download, and a new download for music control fix & menu unlock disabled.
Haven't had a chance to look at the alarm stuff yet. If anyone can let me know specifically what happens, i.e. do you see controls, or no option at all, etc, regarding the alarm, it will help me get started / know where to begin looking. Probably won't get to the alarm stuff today though.

Cool thanks for the quick reply. Umm as far as the alarm... when it went off, there was no option to snooze or disable alarm. It was just going off while it was in the lockscreen. No alarm logos popped up or anything. Sorry...probably doesn't help much

Menu unlock disable is still not on the download link redownloaded it and if i hit menu when i wake the phone it unlocks. Help!

[APP][WIDGET]Mission Control

[Updated]
Added button to change ringer state: Silent, Vibrate, Normal
NOTE: You cannot change ringer/notification levels with the widget if ringer state is in Silent or Vibrate. You will notice the icons fade out.
Enjoy!
Hey everyone. I developed a small widget to quickly change volume levels for media, ringtone, notification, and alarm. I find myself wanting to turn media volume on/off all the time, and I couldn't find a good solution in the Market, so I made my own.
You can download it from the Market. Just search for Mission Control. There is an SD version (G1, Hero, etc), and an HD version (Evo, Nexus, etc).
If you guys find any bugs or have suggestions for it, just let me know. This is my first Android app, so please be gentle.

Nice handy little app. I just downloaded from the market and put it on one of my panels. I like the three level toggles. this will be great when at the theater or a meeting and want to turn everything off really quick.
Thanks for the app!

The control panel is non-functional at the moment. My plans are to use it to allow a user to fully customize a button to do anything they want, along with choosing any icons they want as well.

I looked around for some good iPhone-style icons, but couldn't find any that I liked. I'll continue to search and see what I can come up with.
Only other thing I would like to see, is when you press one of the toggles that it changes your phone settings to vibrate, silent, etc.

Jaxbot's Stand-Alone WP7 Lock Screen for the HD2

Hello!
As part of my Windows Phone 7 theme for the HD2, I have released the lockscreen of the upcoming version as a stand-alone app.
This application will run on any WVGA device.
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
This app smoothly slides down over the currently displayed screen, and then you can "peek" at what's under it. To unlock, start at the bottom of the screen and slide up. This can be pinned to your homescreen, or set as a button.
It's a first-release, but I want to make sure all the kinks are out of it before including it in my Windows Phone 7 theme (release TBD).
Instructions
Download, copy, and install to your device.
Run it!
Changing the wallpaper
You can change the background of the lockscreen by placing a file on the root of your device and naming it lockscreen_image.jpg ("\\lockscreen_image.jpg"). The file must be in WVGA resolution and JPG format.
Any questions, comments, or trouble, let me know
Enjoy!

The application does not replace the Windows Mobile lock screen. It is simply meant to be used as an application to mimic the Windows Phone 7 lock screen. You should, however, be able to run the application, and then press the end key. Once waking up the device, the app should be ready to unlock.

I'd be interested in seeing the full WP7 theme when you have it finished.
Many thanks for your work.
I have found this for a long time.
Nice work, looks great!
Looking forward to seeing your WP7 theme will this lockscreen be intergrated to the theme that you are making?
thx m8!
It works also on the Touch HD. But i got some problems with it.
1. It isn't easy to unlock. I mean it simply doesn't work very well (Maybe it should be enough to slide it 60% or 70% up and not 90% ^^)
2. When i try to unlock. The background looks a bit incorrect.
But all in all - just brilliant. Its very fluid and its very responive.
Is it possible to use it as lockscreen (when screen shuts down) or do i have to start it manual through a shortcut?

The lockscreen was ripped out of the While In Progress WP7 theme, as a filler. I'll get the theme out as soon as I finish all the hubs.

1. It was designed for the HD2, so a non-capacitive screen may offer more resistance. Try starting at the VERY BOTTOM of the device, and if that's still too hard, I'll mess with the settings.
2. It's a screenshot, so sometimes the device may compress the image a little bit.
3. Unfortunately, you'll need to start it with a shortcut. Or you can map it to the Send key on your device.

Lockscreens

I'm looking for lockscreen options and am very interested in experienced users input. Free is best, but it you know of a excellent lockscreen, let us know!
..... and thanks in advance.
To be honest I think the vanilla lock screen is great. I just disabled the HTC one and it was already there. I like being able to set vibrate with just a quick finger swipe. Plus it shows charging status when plugged in and any alarms I have set. If you do that, though, you need the Google desk clock for alarms if you use them.

lockbot is a program out there in the market that can do this
the only drawback is that it has to run all the time in the background...but it makes it very easy to customize your lockscreen

You can solve that problem by using the deskclock.apk that ships with vanilla 2.2 instead of the HTC one.

Widgetlocker is great too, you can add extra tabs with shortcuts to whatever you want, and best of all put widgets on your lockscreen. It does cost $1, but it's well worth it if you're looking for a third-party lockscreen replacement.

S-off will disable the security check, so you can flash unsigned roms from the bootloader. Just in case you somehow accidentally run an OTA or other official update and lose root/clockwork recovery, you can easily get it back.
It also allows you to modify the files in /system/ without rebooting into recovery.
Use unrevoked forever to turn s-off, the tool makes it pretty painless.

Remove recent apps from notification pulldown

Hello all,
Big thanks to everyone involved in root/s-off.
With root is there any way to remove the 'recent apps' from the notification pulldown?
TIA All
I would also like to see a patch of some kind that replaces the recent apps with a on off bar..
+1 that recent app bar is so annoying
+2, add power widget options in instead!
Definitely needed!
I will never understand why they put the Recent Apps there when you can get to them by long pressing the home button.
There is a workaround until someone does this, not the best solution but it works.
In the market there is an app called Power Control Plus (it is a paid app) that will put the toggles in your notification area but it doesn't replace the Recent apps.
yeah, the toggles in the pull down are one of the few things I miss from the Fascinate I have. Another being the convenience of being able to drag left or right on the notification bar to quickly change the screen brightness.
I'm working on Rosie and Framework mods right now and this is on my list. I removed the recent apps from notification on a custom Hero ROM and will do it to the Tbolt. As far as adding the switches, that's a whole other story. We would have to port JsChiSurf's Evo work and I think I'll just wait until someone ports a Gingerbread Sense ROM, which has the switches in a tab.
Does it actually have to be ported or could you just rip the required framework elements from an evo rom and copy them to your tbolt framework?

I imagine the dependencies are different, so things wouldn't match up properly.
Question here: I too find the recent apps feature useless and liked the pullldown toolbar in Slayer's mods.(my personal favorite) I assume a mod like this could be ported or created?
Sent from my ADR6400L using XDA App
Just getting rid of the Recent Apps would be an improvement until someone gets this done.
Another thing you might do if you can figure it out, one of the Z roms for the inc had the Verizon Wireless banner made about half the size it is now. It looked better and took up far less space.
Even better if you could remove the banner entirely, I think we all know we are on Verizon!
Here is a screen cap with "Power Control Plus" It's a paid app but usable, now if we could at least get rid of the recent apps.

I tried widgetsoid but I didn't like the fact that when you click on any of the toggles it dissapears. If I want to cycle through a toggle (for instance "Brightness") you have to bring the notifications down again.
Maybe a setting I was missing but that's how it worked for me.
Yep I would be happy with the recent apps removed and using widgetsoid or something for toggles.

OT question?
i manage to make stausbar dissappear when editting the wrong things lol, so i was wondering what all would we be able to mod in the soft key area? like could we use that 142x400 line or what not to show statusbar? and use rss button realistate to call on softkeys in ticker for a slightly bigger screen.
just thought of if at 4am while working on zimage repacking all night
Or maybe set search as expand statusbar.
What do you think buddy?

Well, I have been trying to modify the softkey area for a while now.. What I personally wanted to do was allow rotating of the softkey icons What I saw when trying to do that though was the kernel and services.jar working together to display the softkeys/set their functions...
To answer your question, kinda, I will throw out my thoughts. 1) Because of the "gray screen overlay" overtop of the softkey area, it'll make the statusbar 'dulled' down, which would probably turn everyone off (including me )... 2) If we did manage to move it down there, there would be the ultimate problem of 'expanding' it then, since the softkey/main/ticker screens are all declared as separate screens, and moving in between them in one swoop isn't really possible. 3) The code to display the notification bar is within framework-res, while the code to display the softkeys is within the kernel/services... So being able to swap the functions from the notification down to the softkey area won't be (easily) possible...
But, your last comment might just be do-able... Actually, what would be even more doable would be having a 'button' in the ticker that would 'show/hide' the notification bar... That's because the functions for the softkeys are pre-set at /system/usr/keylayout/qwerty.kl, and I wouldn't know where to start adding a custom one ...
EDIT: are you looking to hide the notification bar on just the homescreen, or everywhere???
EDIT EDIT: I came up with two adb commands for implementing hiding/showing the statusbar EVERYWHERE... Looking to incorporate it now in java...
i kinda figured kernel issues cause of the 3 screen issue.
well ive been messing with repack kernel and got one repacked with su and busy box and actually turn boot ani off, (for quickboot). looking to add init.d as soon as i revert back to stock to test rooted kernel and get statusbar back.
since i havent had a statusbar for a couple days i was enjoying the bigger screen and thinking of a statusbar button (pulldown), or what not
any and evrything (discussion etc) is appreciated.
Wait, you successfully compiled a kernel for gingerbread? Or you just modded what we had?!
And I managed to make an app that will turn on/off the statusbar everywhere for our phone, and I managed to take the code and get it work inside the ticker... However, what would you like the 'activation' method be? Getting rid of the 'Ticker History Button' function, and instead setting it as the source for enabling/disabling the statusbar? Or a button somewhere in the ticker, (like where the sleep mode usually is), that does it?
Or has this side-tracked into something you aren't interested in, hahah

I can add the triple tap function no problem, but you gotta pick out the icon you want, haha.. You can either have just one image, or two, either works for me!

Awesome. Had to start from stock again.... it sucks when I had a great hacked kernel, then I didn't back it up before I hackeed another zimage in the same folder to replace it
