open the zip on the phone there should be 2 files put them in system/lib/hw directory using root explorer or a program like it
hope it works for you like it did for me
Damn! I really want to try this but I cant write to my system directory. It wont mount R/W.
Also, you say there should be 2 files but there is only 1 in the zip file.
Trying this now...

Yes. Says "hw permissions cannot be changed because the file system is read-only".
Also, when I extract it on the phone there is only 1 file. gps.spade.so.

I see the button but when I press it, it doesnt change. I copied the zip file to the SD card and extracted it there.
Found a thread that told how to make the system folder r/w.
Open terminal and type:
su
busybox mount -o remount,rw /system

Hey all.
I was messing around today and decided to post this. If not for the current lack of development, I probably wouldn't even post this.
Just push twframework-res.apk with adb, root explorer or root manager. be sure you overwrite the existing .apk.
The screenshot posted below was taken on the fly. you'll notice I'm using TEAM AERODKNG's Notification bar... Frankly, their theme is radness, but I thought maybe someone would want a little change!
word up, folks. happy MoDding.

LOL Corradokng hooked it up with a flashable framework-res.apk. Im back and will try this again. Im a goof ball and didnt check but since im back up i went into system/framework and see the following files, twframework-res.apk and framework-res.apk. I mistakenly changed the name and pasted, which softbricked.
I slapped myself in the head and tested again. Worked like a charm! I like the look, way better than before.
NOTE: Copy file to System/Framework folder
i wanna test it out. could just explain to me what you mean by push? where or oveer what do i put the .apk? thanks

go into framework folder and copy twframework-res.apk to a safe place on your sd card, in case you want to revert. With the file in the OP paste it into that directory, making sure you have w/r in root explorer or whatever you use.

try supermanager, root explorer for some reason hasnt been playing to nicely with system files and binary files.
if your follwing the process verbatim and nothing is happening try super manager or another file manager with root permissions. It should work without a hitch

Wat do u mean by u can't do a restore with cwm beta 3?.... i have had crash issues and restored my fone 4times already from recovery....... so i'm guessing ur sayin i'm lucky? i didnt know or think restore and backup was an issue on cwm_Beta3..
Are you saying you have successfully done a full restore of a full nandroid backup?? If so that would be a big deal since I think that was the last issue with the cwm beta. Drhonk was saying he got a full restore to work at least without error but it hung on reboot.

@Ricky download file to your computer hook your phone up to the computer mount phone to computer (USB mass storage) right click file go down to send to and send it to the proper mass storage for your phone I have vista so that's how it works for me that should put the file on the root of your SD card open root explorer first go into system/framework go down to the twres apk long press it and select copy you will see paste at the bottom of your screen hit the back button twice go down to SD and put the copy in any sub folder you may want I use downloads then go down to the new file on your SD card from robbitt long press it hit move go back to system/framework in the upper right hand corner you will see a r/w press that then hit paste it will say it already exists do u want overwrite click yes back out then reboot should work with no problem.I think what u did was move the orig twres file instead of copying it hope this helps you.And thanks to robbitt love this mod sometimes its just the little things

I'm trying to transfer a recovery file into system/bin .
I type in ADB devices and it shows up
then i type in adb remount and it says
remount failed: no such file or directory
then i try adb push recovery "destination"
could not push, read only system.
how do i fix this? I've literally looked EVERYWHERE D:
Use root explorer to move the file. Download it from the market.
You have to start searching instead of always starting threads. Just a tip; people address a lot of questions on threads.

I was messing with my newly rooted A2 while driving (I know, it's a big no no ><) and I accidentally deleted swype. I tried factory resetting the phone and now all that shows up is the Multi touch keyboard in settings. Can anyone post it so I can re-install it?
Here ya go. And remember no playing with your phone while driving...You could really mess up your phone.
Thank you! I installed it but it's not working?? I did it like a regular app, am I supposed to install it in a different way??

You have to use root explorer and put it into /system/apps/ folder then restart the phone.
I did and still nothing >< do I need to set permissions??
Edit: or maybe I need the .odex file that comes with it?? I'm just giving ideas :/

Ok so I messed around with the permissions a bit and I can get Swype to appear in the settings and input method BUT it keeps FC whenever I try to access swype settings or switch to it as my keyboard. Any suggestions?? DO I need the .odex file??
Sent from my MB865 using XDA App
you need to fix permissions and need the odex file, as well as the libSwypeCore.so file from /system/lib
I overwrote the latinIME.apk and latinIME.odex on my atrix 2 and forgot to backup can someone get me the stock apk and odex files? and will using root explorer work or will i have to use adb? thanks in advance, i'm kinda new at this.
nevermind, i found the post with all of the system apps, it's right here if anyone needs it.

Do NOT use root explorer EVER, to put system files in place. ALWAYS use adb to push the files, then chmod them to 550 once they are moved into place.

You can copy a system apk and save it in /sdcard/ for example, and then copy it back to /system/app using a filebrowser with root-function, such as ES File Explorer, Root Explorer etc. No need for adb if you dont want to.
But I doubt the stock camera app will work on an AOSP build.

If you installing the camera from say CM10 which I would call stock for AOSP but I think Goatshocker thinks you on about the Sense camera.
If you use his app then load it up connect it to pc with usb debugging on and then replace Gallery2.apk and then reboot, oh and a tip don't let the app install it but just push the apk.
Also, the All In One Kit can push them too yes?

No idea on that but Goatshocker app works fine for what you want to do.
Did you sort this yet?
When you said "stock camera", I obviously assumed you ment the stock camera that comes with the phone, which means - sense.
Moving the camera between different AOSP roms shouldnt cause any issue. Neither should moving the sense camera between sense roms.
But moving the Sense camera to an AOSP rom - thats what I doubt will work.
In any case, you can always (if youre rooted, obviously ) copy the camera apk and replace it. If it doesnt work it wont start, thats it. The actuall copy/replace will still work.
Do note that you might need to reboot the phone after modifying /system/ applications.
In very rare cases you might have to do it through a recovery, using ADB, because the system might block access (similar to windows "the file is in use" message when trying to change an open file).
In any case, you should always back up the file you are replacing, before replacing it, in case the new file doesnt work.
I usually do it an ugly way, simply renaming the old file to "blabla.apk_"
That way the file will still be there, but the system wont recognize it as an application. If the new file works as it should, I go back and delete the ".apk_" file.
Just to clarify a final time: Replacing the camera app in /system/ will in 99% of the cases work with a root explorer on the phone, the last 1% might need to use ADB while in recovery or bootloader.
