Hi, wondering if someone has found something besides the official grooveshark app? I had nanogroove on my touch pro2 and loved it. I do not mind paying for the app, but I only want to pay ONCE not monthly. I do not see a need to pay for something monthly that I will probably not use ever month, just when the occasion arises. Does not have to be grooveshark specifically either, just an app that i can type in an artists name of song title and it search and stream it. Thanks in advance.
I came from the TP2 and loved nanogroove... Took me a while to find a replacement. Search the market for "Song Storm Lite" .... You won't feel like you are missing nanogroove anymore. Plus it puts the file automatically in your library instead of having to do the groovy.mp3 rename trick

No go for song storm? No results for me in the market. I use Music Junk, but you will have to Google to get that, the apk isn't in the market.

Thank you, very good app.
Wow, Tunee is awsome! Its the most straight forward and simple music search engine I have ever used.
All the apps posted above are great but is there an app that you can queue songs?
Song Storm Lite
Ya just so you guys know the app isn't available on the Market anymore. Grooveshark asked me to remove it last friday so as of this Monday it is no longer available (it was only a matter of time). I'll maybe host the .apk file on the ****ty website i have up for the app or just release the source code this weekend. Let me know what you guys think. I want to keep it working in the future b/c most of the other apps have a smaller libraries and I can't find the music that I want.

I spent the last few days tracking this down and thought I would save some of us time. Here is the Sirius XM app.
Enjoy
Love you! Xd

You can sign up for a trial to use if you are not a subscriber.
I have had XM for 2 years and cannot live without O and A.
It's a great service and I love the app.

yep. and the app use is an extra fee on top of the monthly charge...
you culd always have them send you the app...

sweet.. thanks for the heads up on this.. for some reason I didn't think there was an app.. make good use of my subscription.
Works 50% of the time, but when it does it's fantastic. Other 50% of the time it says Service is Down.
I love Sirius service, but what a ****ty app. First, the sound quality goes in and out, next it has an Inactivity timeout of something like 2 hours...so if your like me and you sit there listening at work you have to click the 'restart' button 3-4 times in a day. I know why they do it with Internet Users, but there needs to be a better (longer) timeout for the App. THE WORST part is that if you get a call while it's running, it won't stop...it plays throughout your call. A very poor 1.0 release. Be warned, I bought a Stiletto2 thinking it would be a great Sirius device (and it is for the most part), but they NEVER update the software or add features. I doubt we will ever see a 1.1 version of the Sirius App....I love the concept of Sirius, but they really don't give a **** about their customers.
couple improvements I'm hoping for is a widget with the app. Also dvr functions pause/rewind/ff. Also recording would be great... they are allowing timeshifting with the Skydock now also caching with the Slacker app.. so maybe..
All good ones. I hope they beef up the buffer a little otherwise loving it

If you want howard stern, use droid live or xiialive
Thanks for the link. Anyone else have a problem with no icon or anything being created for this app? To open it I had to go into Astro and launch it from there..couldn't find it in the app drawer or if you try to add an icon to the home screen there's no option for it.

I have ringdroid and audacity, its just easy when youre semi lazy to download already created tones. Mabilo was perfect it had most things I searched for. Unfortunate, I wonder why it got nixed?

DCMA again I bet..
Anyone have the apk of the last version?
It still works, just not on the market anymore.
ZEDGE works well
I use ZEDGE as well, it can be a pain to find some things but 4/5 times usually has what I'm looking for to a point. Other than that I just use ringdroid or PowerAMP.
You still can download it on their site.
http://www.mabilo.com/app/

When I tried to load the apk I have on my sd it wouldn't return any results. Zedge has yet to come up with one thing I want to use.

It seems they may be still alive. When I did a search on their site I was able to download the ringtone on my computer. But I'm not sure why the app is acting up.
This morning I found this app called gtunes on the market. Its where you can search for a song and and download it for free. I was wondering if this is illegal because they have a lot of new songs to download and it seems illegal. What do you think?

The app and the process it uses to find the songs are not illegal, its a glorified search engine. The process of downloading the songs onto your phone that you do not own is illegal.

If you play the songs on it, no. But if you download the songs to your device, it's no different than downloading the songs on Limewire or Kazaa or anything like that.
seems a little sketchy your basically letting em know exactly where you are if they feel like prosecuting

I would agree with this but RIAA and MPAA cannot setup a download site/app/program or provide movies/music to download in an effort to catch people in the act. That is called a sting operation and can only be done VIA an authorized entity like the police.
Apps of this nature are not illegal and that is the reason they remain on the market, the only variant to there legal stature is you clicking download.

No, but they can monitor the download that someone else puts up and notify your ISP by doing a lookup of the IP of the downloader. This is a known issue for torrents. Then you will receive a notice in the mail(USPS) letting you know that you should stop.
I am unsure of how you could be monitored downloading through this app, but I don't count anything out.
Download it via free wifi somewhere.
If you like the song, buy a real CD so you can do whatever you want with it.
If it's not worth buying, why bother listening to it?
Because if it's not worth buying, it's probably crap.
Why worry about getting busted over something that is not good enough to buy, anyway?
And what's wrong with just googling "parent directory" mp3 -htm -html -download -links, saving to your computer and copying to your phone?
Sorry for all the questions, but I'm feeling very inquisitive
I just received my Google Music Beta invite. I have a Xoom VZ 3G.
I'm currently in the process of loading all my music. This post is here to answer questions that anyone might have on how it works.
So far I'm pulling the media from a network share, but I might switch it to iTunes once it finishes. The reason for that is I'd like to have the compatibility of sharing playlists, track rating, and play count. I'm only assuming you need to use the iTunes sync feature of the Music Manager to accomplish. I wish it would talk to all apps, but maybe some day.
There is suppose to be a limit on the number of songs you can upload, and when I told it where my collection was it did complain that I had more than 20k tracks. It did however start uploading anyway. Its currently at 120 of 29090.
Its uploading quick, I have Fios, and its doing about 8-10 mbits up.
Also my Xoom and the Nexus S 4G picked up that I've been approved for Google Music Beta.
On the Xoom, it doesn't appear you can access the instant mixes, at least that I can find. Nor does it seem to be syncing playlists that I created online on either the tablet or the phone.
The Xoom has a manual sync, but the phone does not, even refreshing on the xoom doesn't update the playlist.
So far everything that has been uploaded plays well and its smooth, we'll see how the interface is with 20k songs in it.
So, What do you wanna know?
Just got my invite too, have about 20 songs up there and the xoom hasn't got them yet, and the music app fcs on my epic with ee03.
Edit: songs just got here after about twenty minutes...prompted me to allow sync at least...music was there almost instantly after the prompt.

Got my invite today, still uploading (it's been about 45 minutes now). Music hasn't shown up on my Xoom or Droid X.
Did you guys get prompted to sync music after the initial upload was done?

Yes, its a setting under preferences if you want it to always look for new content.
I think they opened the floodgates today. At least, that's what engadget is reporting. Got mine also; I think I might love it...

gotcha, my uploads are going fine, just wondering why I'm not seeing anything on android yet. Guess I'm just too impatient.
how does it handle duplicate music stored locally on your xoom and uploaded to google music?

It must generate some hash, because it considered the ones I already had on my xoom as downloaded.
My playlists have started syncing, I guess it just took some time for the servers to play catchup, but i'm at about 1946 - 29090 files uploaded.
Must just take time. Let mine finish uploading overnight. Opened music app this morning on the DX and now when I hit the menu button I get a settings option to control synced music. Everything shows up now.

I uploadeed about 11 albums last night. One thing i really hate is the uploading program. Amazon has google beat there big time. The music manager program locks up a lot and tries to re-upload everything. I'm not sure what the lock up is from im sure its not the specs of my netbook causing it cause they are better then some desktops. Heres to hoping google makes a better way to upload.
I can't even sync at all??

This music player looks GREAT on the transformer:
http://www.engadget.com/2011/05/20/windows-phone-7-style-music-player-for-android-arrives-from-the/
nice...looks really nice on a tablet...hope the albumart will be a little bigger, but really nice...
It's brilliant! Amazing on my Galaxy S as well!
Even though it's not even Beta, It's one of the best 3rd party Music apps there is on Android.
It looks and works nice but I don't really like how small it is on the big honeycomb screen. Plus Plus some reason my album arts are not going in full screen for me. I definitely would wanna try it on my phone though.

what's the actual name of this music app......the link on engadget goes nowhere.
found it, FEDE MUSIC is the name of the .apk you download.....nice of Engadget to actually give the name of the app, sloppy journalism, as usual.
thanks for posting that...interesting app.
Once Albumart and controls get proper fitting, this will be a spanking app!
Thanks.

I was not able to locate this app?
The reason engadget didnt mention the name, is because the developer who made it, hadn't named it yet.

Sorry, bad form on my part. I should have included a link that refers to the app in the original post... I was lazy - BUT it seems the developer has removed his tweet with the download link.
Because of this, I hesitate uploading anything as it is against forum rules to post files without permission.
Sorry, bro. Do some searching, you may be able to find it.
