Hey ho,
I just wanted to share this information with you:
In fact I can only tell that O2 customers in Germany benefit, but the official Telmap page names a lot of other providers. You may try to connect your provider.
o2 Germany - Telmap Navigation
Official customers overview
This is an off-board navigation, which is reloading the data consistently from the Internet. That this does not result in a money pit or a reduction, data traffic caused by Telmap is free in the O2 network.
The map presented in a simplistic form comes from NavQTech and is kept up to date. Next, the software has a library of attractions, hotels, restaurants and shops which are located in the vicinity of your position. The instructions are not only visually but also read out to mitigate the risk when driving.
The software is available for Android, Blackberry OS, Windows Mobile & Symbain and other phones from Sony Ericsson and LG (the only requirement is a GPS receiver). A WebOS version will appear around the middle of this year as it was not yet fully developed.

After a few days of testing I can say: AWESOME!!!
Works like a charm, with up-to-date traffic information. No crashes, no lagging.
Definitely worth a try.
edit:
About 90 views and not a single word. That makes me kind of sad.

For those not familiar with it - Opera Mini is a Java based free version of Opera browser for PPC and other phones that can support Java applets.
I wanted to try it, but fortunately was so board at the time I read the license agreement: (displayed automatically first time you try to go to a web address)

On the left is the version 3 EULA and on the right is version 4 beta (the latest).
As you can see if you use the browser it will send your phone number, model and all your browsing history cookies and even the cache back to Opera ASA server.
So basically they can know who you are and what you are doing on the internet at all times.
The biggest problem and the part that really annoyed me about all this was the fact that instead of visibly warning users that the price for this "free" software is the violation of their privacy, they hid this little detail behind 3 or 4 screens of the usual legal chatter which most people wouldn't bother to read (and those for whom English is not the native language might have difficulty to understand).
The 'accept' button in version 3 is on the top (and you would have to scroll back to it if you read the thing) so it seems to me that they are encouraging you to just click through without reading.
Also I could not find this license on their site. It is only visible once you installed and configured the software so it is possible they already collected your phone number at this time.
Finally, the version 4 EULA is a bit ambiguous. It just says that the app collects the info to help with debugging and such but version 3 states clearly that it is sent to their server.
Any thoughts welcome...

Thanks for the info, thats pretty worrying
I am not one to dig into the guts of my device and edit code. So a lot of the cool stuff that others are doing with their devices was not going to happen for me. I wanted finger navigation and quick access to call me contacts. I did a Google search for Windows Mobile Touch Navigation and there it was, 7th item listed.
I am running the free demo and it is totally solid, have not needed to reset device once. I will certainly purchase the product, it does everything I want it to and more. Here is the link to download. http://www.touch-commander.com/download-exe
I have had a few questions about the product and they have been great and getting back to me.
I just noticed that there are some new skins available as well, I am gonna grab those straight away, the Aero one looks sick!
Hope you all enjoy.
I will certainly purchase the product

This app allows a user to automatically change his phone profile based on current position. For example,
it can turn the phone to silent mode when entering the workplace.
It is open source (github link below) and I am open for any suggestions.

There is already WhereRing: http://code.google.com/p/wherering/ , though it is licensed under GPLv3. That works with FINE_LOCATION, which is very nice for freetards who don't use Google Network Location or NOGAPPs. Of course the battery takes a bigger hit , but he did a fair bit of optimization.

Well this app doesn't need any Google APIs either, just accessing cell IDs (although I thought of adding Google APIs for a future version).
Crashes on Epic 4G Touch
Hi everybody,
I would like to introduce our new app you. If you always find expired products in your fridge, I'm sure you will enjoy it.
It's called NoMaggot, so the goal is quite obvious : it allows you to manage products in your fridge and your cupboards. Its main advantage is to use a database regularly updated to identify as much as possible of your products via their barcodes. Then, thanks to notifications, you no longer need to check the expiry dates of the products several times in order to know what to eat.
The application is simple: you scan a product's barcode and enter the expiry date (the only thing you have to do ^^). Depending on the configuration, you will be notified a few days before the expiry date of the product! Perfect to avoid forgetting the cream at the bottom of the fridge hidden behind the yogurt ...
Today, we waste about 100 kg of food every year. This app is a solution to fight against food waste and take responsibility for this problem.
Don't hesitate to send us feedback (good or bad) !
The next planned fonctionnalities are :
- add some properties in a product file (opened, count)
- screen adjustment for big screen (tablet)
- expiry date entry made easier (ideas ? ^^)
- database synchronisation between several devices (tablet, smartphone)
- and more !
If you have other ideas, we would be glad to hear them.
It's free and on the Play Store so, if you are interested, you can try it now. Sorry, I'm not able to post outside links
