Hi guys,
Anyone that have the vignette app figure out how to use the flashlight on the phone and if possible to record video with it?
Thanks in Advance
The flash is easy enough in Vignette - there's a button on the screen where you can choose flash off, auto or on. But it's not "true flash", in that it just activates the light for a few seconds before taking the pic. Still better than nothing though, and certianly better than having to activate it through a menu.
However, switching to video mode just loads up the stock video app, so that will be just the same as it was before. It effectively kicks you out of Vignette so it's not ideal, but it's better than having to go through the process of loading the stock camera app yourself.
It doesn't detract from the fact that Vignette is a great camera app, capable of loads of effects and frames. It's definitely worth a purchase.

I just realized that if I switch to video camera mode and apply a particular color effect setting (sepia, emboss, posterize, etc), and then switch back to camera mode, I can snap pictures using that same setting. Of course, I have to go back and revert to normal when I'm done playing.
This is probably old news to most, but I just discovered this today, and thought it might help some others that may be as slow as I am, lol.
So every time I open the camera up and try to get over to panorama settings, the camera pops up in Macro mode and wont change focus. Is there any fix for this? It doesnt matter if i get a different ICS camera app from the app store, its always the same. It only ever changes if I use an app that is actually only for panorama shooting. I would like to have it all in the stock app if this is possible. Thanks ahead of time.
hello.
haven't been on this site for quite some time, but i am familiar with using custom roms.
i'm using an htc desire s with android 4.0.4, stock rom from htc site.
there are certain things i like about ICS, and other things that simply boggle me.
i've been considering using a custom rom again, but i was hoping someone could shed some light on specific features/functions.
in other words, i would be changing to a custom rom if one is available that has these features, otherwise i'll just leave it alone.
firstly: the camera.
when trying to take up-close photos (macro), the camera will attempt to focus, will succeed, then quickly snap back to being blurry. this happens less with "auto focus" turned off, but it's still frustrating (i can see the hardware moving the camera focus to where i want it, but i can't keep it there). turning on the Scene called "close up" will allow the hardware to stay in the focused range, where i want it, but it overrides the white balance, such that i can't adjust the white balance any more, and the colour is always -always- different from the colour settings in the "auto" Scene setting. very frustrating indeed.
that's problem one.
but the bigger problem (with the camera) is:
when taking a photo where a flash is required/desired (in low lighting), i have to take many -many- photos before i happen to roll the dice and get one in focus. basically, holding up the camera to the darkened scene, the screen is mostly dark. i can take a photo with the flash, but the camera uses the same moment of flash to implement the focus, which is essentially entirely useless. in other words: dark scene, dark screen, flash ready, click to take a photo, flashtrytofocustakepicture = blurry picture. the picture only turns out well if the focus happens to catch in just the right way at the right time.
in contrast, while the stock camera app behaves this way, when i use google goggles, the camera behaves differently. there is a simple button which turns the led light on and off BEFORE taking a picture, which means the focus can function normally on a fully lit scene and then a picture can be taken, in focus. funny thing about that: the photo result that shows as a preview (immediately after snapping a photo in google goggles) is the desired photo, however it is not the photo that the app recognises nor which is saved on the sd card. anyhow, that's a different issue.
the point is: it seems clear to me that the hardware is capable, and the software is capable, but they have not been married correctly in 4.0.4.
would anyone be able to confirm whether another rom or camera app has the macro and light-before-focus capabilities described above?
i have some other questions about the way text copy and paste is implimented, but i'll just stick with the camera question for now.
thanks in advance for any information.
The photon's camera is killing me. I can't take macro pictures in shady conditions. This is what happens when I'm trying to take that picture.
-I'm aiming on some surface/object (shady and close).
-Camera sets exposure to brighten the picture.
-I'm tapping the area to focus.
-Flash turns on.
-In split second camera is blinded by flash and aborts focus.
Please someone tell me there is some tweak to make camera wait with flash. I tried many camera apps but only solution I found was constant flash in e.g Camera FV-5. But i'm not satisfied with that.
For example my Samsung Xcover 2 is turning flash on, changes the exposure to not be blinded and focus like a charm.
That is why I use "Focal" as my camera app.
You can turn on the "flashlight" and then focus.
I have never found a similiar good app (focal is not perfect but it is ok) with that "feature".

Click to collapse
There is e.g. "Camera FV-5", "lgCamera" and "A Better Camera" with this feature. You can try them and compare with Focal. But me, as I said, I'm not satisfied with that
Thx for the little list.
Anyway, I don't have a better way of focusing.
Maybe this is (also) controlled by the ROM?
It may be possible to add the same procedure like in the Samsung Xcover 5.
(Not for me but for the developers of CM.)
Do you think we will get an update with this feature ?
The problem is, not only there is no tap to focus in the motorola camera app, BUT even when trying with other apps, tap to focus in video is not working (open camera for example)
That's odd about Open Camera since tap to focus video seems to work for me using it. There are several different video focus settings in Open Camera while in video mode, auto, infinity, locked, and continuous. In continuous I can tap the screen for focus.
My bad, I didn't see the other settings for the video focus in open camera ! I confirm that it is now working !
It's a pretty good app to be completely free with no ads.if it only had slow motion, it would be perfect. At least I don't think it has, there are a lot of settings. Like you, it took me awhile to find all of them.
