I`m sure that everybody has a problem with logging into gsm network when telephone loses range.
It is searching constantly network but nothing happens until in comm manager I switch off gsm and then tap "phone on". It`s not a radio rom issue. Tested dozens of radios. It`s rather a hardware issue. Weak internal antenna.
Is there any possibility to create simple script/program to do action gsm off/on automatically when telephone is out of range for example for 30seconds and more ?
Hi,
Is anyone aware of problems / issues with GPS on the Orange HTC Touch 3G device (or any other similar devices)? I have a number of these losing GPS intermittently?
Also does anybody know if Orange's SUPL AGPS servers have been affected by recent network changes to incorporate T-Mobile / firewall reprogramming issues?
Thanks,
Terry.
Hi everyone,
I'm new to Android on Polaris, and while I substantially succeeded in having a good-working system (incubus rls16 + radio 1.59) I still have some minor problems.
One of the biggest is that auto-switching between carriers doesn't seem to work. I'm on Three-IT, and usually this carrier relies on roaming carrier TIM where it has no coverage of its own. Now I find that when I leave Three coverage, the telephone "sticks" with the last cell information (e.g., it goes on displaying previous signal strength, the one it had under Three) and does not perform any carrier auto-switch.
This results in an unreliable strength status: I see good coverage where in fact I have none, and have to manually check for my default roaming operator.
Switching to "plane mode" and back always does the trick, as it forces radio to perform a new search while re-enabling.
Does someone of you have some advice to solve this annoying problem?
Thanks in advance!
I'm having a bizarre issue with my HTC Desire HD where the notification bar shows 4 bars of coverage (the max available) and the data connection shows 'H' (again, best possible), but the data connection often freezes/stalls/fails. Changing my data connection to 2G only fixes this issue and I get normal 2G connectivity with no issues. This is happening inside the building I work in (in central Edinburgh). I also experience this is other central edinburgh areas outside. However, further afield 3G works just fine.
Can anyone suggest what might be wrong? Alternatively, are there any tools which allow you to monitor the strength of data connection the phone is making? Or other diagnostic tools? Thanks!
I've installed MildWild V-2.9.5 in my HTC Desire (Bravo), and I've found it a very full-featured, stable ROM.
Only problem I've found: it makes my phone believe I'm roaming, tough it's not the case.
If I limit my connection to 2G networks, the roaming indicator disappears. Obviously, that's not a solution, because of the slowness.
If I explicitly configure the network operator I've a contract with, the indicator disappears during several seconds, only to reappear a bit later.
If I activate the data-roaming option in ROM's configuration, I can successfully establish data connections.
Some data:
This happens only with MildWild (both the Oxygen-based one and the CM-based one). I've tried a large number of ROMs, and this behavior is specific of MildWild.
I'm using radio 5.17.05.23.
My network operator is Simyo (a part of the KPN group). I'm located in Northern Spain.
My operator doesn't register the network connections as roaming. I see normal, local connections in my operator's web interface.
ROM is installed on a CM7r2 hboot. Again: everything else is working fine.
Has anybody had a similar experience?

It seems to be a common trend in all MildWild's ROMs, until (but not including) the current MildWild, which is based upon CyanogenMod. At any rate, the roaming was a false positive, and thus innocuous (although a little bit stressing at first).
