As an imperative because it's illegal without consent on the other side of the line?
or because you tried it on your Desire and it doesn't work?

Here we go with the legality BS in this thread.
Let's LEAVE THAT UP TO THE INDIVIDUAL TO DETERMINE THEIR LEGALITY. Every phone recorder thread devolves into argument about it.
As for why it won't record; most HTC devices you can't record the caller unless it's on speakerphone, and in which case I assume you hear them through the microphone.

Most companies tell you they are recording the call so you alreadt have permission. Otherwise thwy say they are monitoring it and then you would need permission. However I agree Leave it to the individual

That is recording through the microphone, Korean Galaxy S records within the system (i.e. better quality)...

tried ALL market available apps and none works.
In some countries it is illegal.
In Spain (my country) is not legal (which does not mean it is illegal), but can not be used as evidence in court if the other party was unaware that it was recording, but you can record conversations to own use (if you are a seller is a good idea and save you taking notes)

I have started this project: http://call-recording-on-android.com/
Please, leave your comments!

Google VOice?

Google Voice only works on USA.
I'm with bartito, I'm from Spain and you can record a call for your own or even if you comunicate to the other part the call is recording you can use it as evidence.
This is frustrating I'll not buy another phone without this functionality.

Not many apps out there that can record audio streams other than from the microphone...yet there is an API for that:
http://developer.android.com/reference/android/media/MediaRecorder.AudioSource.html

HTC users look here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=9545175&postcount=112

See that why I love Texas only one party on the phone has to be aware that its being recorded for it to be legal. So if you know your recording it that's all that matters.

[REQUEST] Call Record app

Hi. There's a few call recording apps in the market but IMHO none are that great, and most of them haven't been updated for 2.0 yet. With N1 hardware is it possible to build a better, solid app? I do a lot of interviews over the phone (am a researcher) so something like this would be golden.
isnt this illegal? oo, unless you tell them the conversation could be recorded.
I was using Air Voice on the HTC Hero, and as said, it is broken on Android 2.x.
I am so looking for this kind of app on the Nexus one.
Google Voice can do it, I think... See here. I just read through it, but I'm not exactly sure what the restrictions are. Basically you just press 4 during or before your conversation, but a note at the bottoms says:
"Note: at this time you can only record calls you receive on your Google Voice number. You can't record calls you initiate using our Click2Call from our website or the Return Call feature from your voicemail."
But it doesn't mention anything about if you place a call using your phone. I don't know if this helps you any, unless you make the interviewer call you first
Ultimate Voice Recorder v2.3.4 Will get 'er done.
Tasker also will do the trick. It's not in the Market yet [get it here] but it was one of the top three utilities in ADC2. It's like Locale on steroids. Takes a bit to get used to but it's amazing
Thanks for the input.
1) Google Voice only records on calls made to you GV number. I'm not really using GV yet (except for voicemail), and most of the calls I initiate.
2) Ultimate Voice Recorder -- not clear to me its been upgraded for Eclair. I've contacted the developed, but we'll see -- its reviews are middling.
3) Tasker. Wow, I've just downloaded it, and don't know about its recording capabilities, but everything else, damn, it could change a lot of the way I use my phone. Thanks for that rec!
The way tasker is worded it sounds like it only records your outgoing voice.
+1 on Ultimate Voice Recorder
I believe the problem is Android does not let you intercept the incoming audio during a call. I'd love to see a framework change for rooted phones that would allow this. After all there are plenty of countries that don't think its odd for you to be able to record your own conversations with someone.

If you have Verizon or AT&T, maybe you can ask the US Gov't for all your conversations. They record all of them and store them in a US data base and have been doing it since before 2000.
Tmobile was the only one who said ..."Warrant please".
Sorry, I couldn't resist. I still haven't forgotten.

Call Recorder on Nexus S?

Hi all,
First thing, please don't debate about the legalities in your states and countries of phone call recorders. I understand they are different everywhere.
Has anyone used a voice call recorder successfully on Nexus S? If so, please share!
Thanks.
Would like to see an app that does this.

Me too. Can someone test:
http://www.killermobile.com/applications/android/total-recall-android-|-call-recorder.html
http://www.androidzoom.com/uk/android_applications/media_and_video/sound-recorder_itno.html (Works well. Sound quality is good. You're gonna need an app that can browse your sd card to access your recordings as there is no a playback button)
Please tell as about the quality of recording of both sides and whether there are any time limits or not.
Cheers

I had try a lot of programs to record calls, but none have worked....
Somebody have one who works?
It's only works for non calls record
Someone knows one program who works to record calls with nexus s?
Sent from my Nexus S using Tapatalk
just to awake this topic .. even i havent found an app to record calls on nexus s .. its surprising how easily u can do it on symbian nokia phones .. dated to even 10 years old ..
ne1 knows how to record calls ???
With the current set of hardware which is shipping on Nexus S, I don't think (2-way) call recording can be achieved. There was an elaborate thread on the same here on XDA but
I am unable to find it (amongst so many of them). Shall re-post if I find it.
so many custom kernals n roms but sumhw no call recording yet ??? .. y is it so ???
I've asked that question before with no replies. The problem is that the OS built is preventing any app from accessing the internal voice while on call.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1164677
It's got more to do the Broadcom Chip on the Nexus S - its on similar lines why we can't have a FM Radio (not an internet streaming App, those are plenty) - unlike it's very close siblings such as the Galaxy S which does boast of a FM Radio & possible 2-way call recording capabilities (I don't follow other phones, too smitten by the Nexus S)
I am interested in this feature
I have been looking for this feature for nearly 1 year, till now I don't see a good solution on Nexus S.
I used HTC diamond 2 before nexus S, and it does perfect incoming/outgoing call recording without the need of speaker on. I don't understand google doesn't allow this API.

Call recorder?????

Hi Users,
Would like to record phone calls automatically both on stock. I understand there are some limitations, and I don't want to have to use speaker mode.
Any suggestions on the best way to do this?
Or if someone could recommend a good app that will do it I don't mind spending a few $$.

Did you have to post this here in the development section?? Go through the threads... you'll find what you need.

Here's an App you can use for recording call! It's called Record My Call
Description:
This application has a basic purpose to record all your call (incoming and outgoing). Please be noticed that due to limitation of Android phone (hardware and software), this program only can record from microphone. Please turn on the loudspeaker during conversation to get clear voice from the other side. All conversations are recorded under file “RecordMyCall” file in memory card.
Features:
-Record incoming and outgoing call from microphone.
-All files are saved in memory card.

[Q] Voip Call Recorder for Whatsapp

Hi
Is there any app to record voip calls of whatsapp or other voip services.
Thanks
Thats what I'd like to know, too. As far as I know there's no such thing for whatsapp. Since the function is quite new, I'm quite sure that it'll take some time until someone gets it working. I didn't find any working skype call recorder, that's why I think It'll take A LOT of time... or is there a working skype recorder?
for "normal" calls I use "Total Recall" what is - in my opinion - by far the best call recording app! sadly it does not work with VOIP and I don't think the developers are going to implement this (since apps like skype are closed source, I think).
I am looking for the same: an app that records Whatsapp calls.
Anything available?
i could do it
Original sound quality would be good. Additionally, speech and recieved speech should not be mixed up in the same audio track.
How it can be done ??

I am working on this but stuck with a roadblock
The problem is that whatsapp itself uses MediaRecorder API to record and that prevents any other app from using MediaRecorder to record calls when whatsapp call is going on.
I have tried to find location of audio file that whatsapp is storing but couldn't.
I am out of ideas now. Can someone please suggest some way out?
Cube Call Recorder is able to, on phones with hardware that is able to process two simultaneous audio recording sessions.
They have a list of supported devices here.
Is there any other solution with root, because cube recorder is not working for me

Call Recording Feature APK ?

My Settings does not have the option for call recording but i notice others in different regions do.
Its legal in my state to record without consent any conversation i am a part of. Devices and Surveillance Act 1999 Victoria. Same applies for Northern Territory and Queensland.
I wonder if its possible that someone with the S10plus or a Samsung model who has this feature to extract and make a apk to enable it.
When i had the Huawei Mate 20 Pro the feature was not available but a few months after release someone managed to extract and make a apk from another Huawei phone or firmware. This worked perfectly and there was no background sound distortion like there is with 3rd party apps.

I believe on Android 10 only root can help you now. Google removed any possibilities already.
Try skvalex call recorder. But even this one will make a lausy recording if any without root.
If you root, but I guess you are with snapdragon, it will be easy. You can simply edit your cscfeature.xml and activate this functionality as a stock feature. Or when rooted, use the call recorder mentioned above.

Which possibility did Google remove, recording calls? This is incorrect. As the OP said - and I know for a fact from personal experience - stock ROMs in other countries (for example - Israel), on all recent Samsung models, have built-in Call Recording.

I think that by following the line of "conversation" here it is more or less clear that what I said is meant for the countries that are not supported by Google for call recording.

Yes correct, Australia does not have stock call recording, because some states have different laws.
Queensland, Northern Territory and Victoria are exempt from these laws, under the surveillance devices act 1999 its legal to secretly record without consent any conversation that you are a part of.

I upgraded to the S20Ultra and Cube ACR still working so far. Seems clearer than the S10+ managed to get.
ACR (another call recorder by NLL Apps) is working ok on my s10+. You should give it a try. Of course is recording background and caller voice is lower but does it's job.

Hi ,
You need to root your phone
or maybe download call recorder from play store
True Phone dialer app works recording both sides except if your calling with wifi calling then it won't record the other side of the call only your side.
ACR you need to install from the galaxy store not from google apps https://galaxystore.samsung.com/det..._id=W_15fd7e58a4696d0121c0cc4ad18f1349&sign=1 works fine on S10+
