Hi all,
First thing, please don't debate about the legalities in your states and countries of phone call recorders. I understand they are different everywhere.
Has anyone used a voice call recorder successfully on Nexus S? If so, please share!
Thanks.
Would like to see an app that does this.

Me too. Can someone test:
http://www.killermobile.com/applications/android/total-recall-android-|-call-recorder.html
http://www.androidzoom.com/uk/android_applications/media_and_video/sound-recorder_itno.html (Works well. Sound quality is good. You're gonna need an app that can browse your sd card to access your recordings as there is no a playback button)
Please tell as about the quality of recording of both sides and whether there are any time limits or not.
Cheers

Heh, I was just reading this thinking "Hmm sounds interesting", clicked link and realised it was my app!
Sorry about the lack of playback button btw - I'll get around to it one day.

I had try a lot of programs to record calls, but none have worked....

Someone knows one program who works to record calls with nexus s?
Sent from my Nexus S using Tapatalk
just to awake this topic .. even i havent found an app to record calls on nexus s .. its surprising how easily u can do it on symbian nokia phones .. dated to even 10 years old ..
ne1 knows how to record calls ???
With the current set of hardware which is shipping on Nexus S, I don't think (2-way) call recording can be achieved. There was an elaborate thread on the same here on XDA but
I am unable to find it (amongst so many of them). Shall re-post if I find it.
so many custom kernals n roms but sumhw no call recording yet ??? .. y is it so ???
I've asked that question before with no replies. The problem is that the OS built is preventing any app from accessing the internal voice while on call.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1164677
It's got more to do the Broadcom Chip on the Nexus S - its on similar lines why we can't have a FM Radio (not an internet streaming App, those are plenty) - unlike it's very close siblings such as the Galaxy S which does boast of a FM Radio & possible 2-way call recording capabilities (I don't follow other phones, too smitten by the Nexus S)
I am interested in this feature
I have been looking for this feature for nearly 1 year, till now I don't see a good solution on Nexus S.
I used HTC diamond 2 before nexus S, and it does perfect incoming/outgoing call recording without the need of speaker on. I don't understand google doesn't allow this API.

Hi. There's a few call recording apps in the market but IMHO none are that great, and most of them haven't been updated for 2.0 yet. With N1 hardware is it possible to build a better, solid app? I do a lot of interviews over the phone (am a researcher) so something like this would be golden.
isnt this illegal? oo, unless you tell them the conversation could be recorded.
I was using Air Voice on the HTC Hero, and as said, it is broken on Android 2.x.
I am so looking for this kind of app on the Nexus one.
Google Voice can do it, I think... See here. I just read through it, but I'm not exactly sure what the restrictions are. Basically you just press 4 during or before your conversation, but a note at the bottoms says:
"Note: at this time you can only record calls you receive on your Google Voice number. You can't record calls you initiate using our Click2Call from our website or the Return Call feature from your voicemail."
But it doesn't mention anything about if you place a call using your phone. I don't know if this helps you any, unless you make the interviewer call you first
Ultimate Voice Recorder v2.3.4 Will get 'er done.
Tasker also will do the trick. It's not in the Market yet [get it here] but it was one of the top three utilities in ADC2. It's like Locale on steroids. Takes a bit to get used to but it's amazing
Thanks for the input.
1) Google Voice only records on calls made to you GV number. I'm not really using GV yet (except for voicemail), and most of the calls I initiate.
2) Ultimate Voice Recorder -- not clear to me its been upgraded for Eclair. I've contacted the developed, but we'll see -- its reviews are middling.
3) Tasker. Wow, I've just downloaded it, and don't know about its recording capabilities, but everything else, damn, it could change a lot of the way I use my phone. Thanks for that rec!
The way tasker is worded it sounds like it only records your outgoing voice.
+1 on Ultimate Voice Recorder
I believe the problem is Android does not let you intercept the incoming audio during a call. I'd love to see a framework change for rooted phones that would allow this. After all there are plenty of countries that don't think its odd for you to be able to record your own conversations with someone.

If you have Verizon or AT&T, maybe you can ask the US Gov't for all your conversations. They record all of them and store them in a US data base and have been doing it since before 2000.
Tmobile was the only one who said ..."Warrant please".
Sorry, I couldn't resist. I still haven't forgotten.

I didn't realize that about T-Mobile. That racks up points in their favor for me too.
I have searched everywhere but can not find an answer,
Can the nexus s do video call through 3g from within the dialler like all the old phones used to do.
My wife really wants the phone but she is always doing video calls from her n97.
It doesnt say anything in the gingerbread manual about video calls so Im not sure if it will.
Anybody Know.
Yes. It will. Else whats Front Facing Camera for ?

Taking MySpace pics without the mirror in the bathroom, duuhh.
Rotflol.. Thats the best thing I have ever read !! hats off you man yes, they include FFCs to take own pictures !! LMAO !
just a question .. since when ? :O
Well the htc Evo had front facing cam, and you couldnt do normal video call.
Thats why im asking if anyone knows for sure yet.
Also iPhone has front can but can only do face time not
Proper 3g video call to anybody.
And in the gingerbread manual under calling it doesn't have an option for
Video call but it does have an option for voip call,
That's why I'm wondering if anybody knows.
Oh so u meant without any application ? My bad.
I doubt then. Nothing on the internet that suggests there is an android phone that does video calling without any application like Qik, Fring etc
But still .. taking pics was myspace was hilarious EPIC !
Dam man that sucks, so there is no point of the front cam in the end.
Is there an app dialer which can do normal video chat through 3g in which both phones dont need app ?
I really want my wife to get this phone but that is a deal breaker for her.

I'd guess, not at the beginning. From what I understand, front-facing camera (FFC) support is now enabled in the Camera application only, and possibly Video too.
The first app that will get video support is probably Google Talk; the current VoIP support seems, from all descriptions, to be voice-only. Hopefully we'd soon get video calls in Skype too, but that might take a while seeing as they just got around to releasing the voice-only client not too many months ago.[/QUOTE]
there is no application for video chat in stock gingerbread, You'll require a third party application such as yahoo messaging for video chat.
google supported video chat is coming with honeycomb, or possibly earlier with a google talk/voice update.
Can someone please tell me how to take 3g video calls with ffc of my samsung galaxy s 4g? I know that the sgs i9000 dialer has the video call button.. But I dont see a video call button on my 4g or is there a dialer.apk which has the video calling option? I am referring to the 3g video calls by the service provider.. Not wifi calling or qik or skype! please someone help me!
im pretty sure there is no video call button. the way you video chat is with the video chat applications.
What are the apps? Are u taking about video calls or chats? I mean the conventional video call through my sim card service provider.. Not three wifi calling or voip or skype! Thanks!
arent the video call and video chat features...the same thing?
Lol yah.. But I am asking about 3g or 4g video calls.. Like the samsung galaxy s i9000 .. Ok so as my i9000 has the video call button on the dialer can I copy the phone.apk to my galaxy s4g? Reply thanks!
To be more clear.. I need to know how to take video calls to my friends mobile number? Not to their tango, skype or any other app account.. I mean through our service provider... Mmm
There is no video calling on stock Rom but there is in the acid team Rom audiophile edition it's pretty good.
Sent from my SGH-T959V using XDA App
to answer this question. you can't directly call them just like you do a normal call or text. the video uses your data service. and honestly. i have found unless you have great 4g or wifi, the quality sucks and it lags. Program that comes stock with the phone is Quik. But there are others..
http://qik.com/
In qik can u call to phone numbers just like normal calls? So can u explain what's the video call button the i9000 galaxy dialer? yes my service provides very fast 4g speeds..

I am surprised that the video-call feature is not yet enabled on a 4g device!!! I realized it only now, but looking at the posts here, it looks like it is not popular at all,,, the video-call-over-cellular network, dedicated channels! In india, it surely is not so popular yet,,so no issues,,, please let me know if you come across a way to place video-calls-over-cellular dedicated channels - the same thing that you are talking about!

Oh goodness! That is the dialer im looking for!! Where and how do I get that to my 4g?! Please more info!
it was ansered earlier in your post the audiophile rom has phone to phone calling not sure how well or if at all it actually works and the landscape is messed up working on fixing that but since i have no one to call video to video i cant test it to see if in fact it actually works if it doesnt id like to know cause i have an idea of takeing the tango drivers etc and just incoperateing it into the dialer as that allows for direct to direct calling though there sevice
hey raver if you interested in help with tested stuff im down. right now im just runnin icbinb. but for help purposes i wouldnt mind trying out audiophile. i wanna check out the sound tweaks anyways.
I know that in america u people use wifi calls through apps the most.. That is why I think the 4g does not have that option.. But tell me if I can copy paste the dialer apk from the team acid rom and paste it in my system/ app? Thank u

Ok, so can this be done? If so, can anyone provide a step-by-step guide as to how it is done? It would be of great help to a starter like me.

Hi
Is there any app to record voip calls of whatsapp or other voip services.
Thanks
Thats what I'd like to know, too. As far as I know there's no such thing for whatsapp. Since the function is quite new, I'm quite sure that it'll take some time until someone gets it working. I didn't find any working skype call recorder, that's why I think It'll take A LOT of time... or is there a working skype recorder?
for "normal" calls I use "Total Recall" what is - in my opinion - by far the best call recording app! sadly it does not work with VOIP and I don't think the developers are going to implement this (since apps like skype are closed source, I think).
I am looking for the same: an app that records Whatsapp calls.
Anything available?
i could do it
Original sound quality would be good. Additionally, speech and recieved speech should not be mixed up in the same audio track.
How it can be done ??

I am working on this but stuck with a roadblock
The problem is that whatsapp itself uses MediaRecorder API to record and that prevents any other app from using MediaRecorder to record calls when whatsapp call is going on.
I have tried to find location of audio file that whatsapp is storing but couldn't.
I am out of ideas now. Can someone please suggest some way out?
Cube Call Recorder is able to, on phones with hardware that is able to process two simultaneous audio recording sessions.
They have a list of supported devices here.
Is there any other solution with root, because cube recorder is not working for me
Just wanted to give my review for the Automatic Call Recorder App which I have been using for a while now and absolutely love it!
So the app loads as soon as you make an outgoing call or accept an incoming call. You have multiple file formats to save the calls from mp3 to 3gp there's a good few more options. The UI is very simple to use and you can track back over a lot of phone calls. I recommend to use at least a 32gb memory so you can as calls that happened a while ago. If you want to hear a particular call, just find it from the call log in the app and simply press the play button. The sound quality is great and there has never been any distortion on playback. If you wanted to share the call recording then you are able to with a simple one click on the share button. I have installed this app on all my family members phones and they love it too. The "recent calls" and "frequent calls" drop down so you can easily see the list of the call logs made. There are a lot of additional features in the settings and all user friendly for anyone to get set up on. The "Memory Info" shows how much free memory you have left and converts this into how long you can record based on the free space left so there is no hidden tabs you need to go to in order to find out the important information. I definitely recommend this app to anyone who wants to have their phone calls recorded, well worth the money and very stable - not once has the app ever crashed on me. 10/10 rating.
Here is a link to the app from the market store: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.globaleffect.callrecord

Not work me correctly
Hi, I have a P8 lite with the version of android 6.0.1 (b574 stock) and the application does not work me correctly, it almost does not listen and it does not record all the calls. When I had Lollipop 5.0.1 it worked very well and a very good sound.
What can I do to make it work just as well as before, but in 6.0.1?
I need help please. Thank you very much.
Regards
I use AndroRec Free Call Recorder instead.
It's completely free, completely offline, no trial, no ads, no analytics, no IAP, no recording limitations. Developer is from India. Last update is 10 Jul 2016. It supports Android Marshmallow. It's very lightweight too, taking only 844 kb in my device. No running in background.

With ACR I think you can only exclude certain callers from being recorded, rather excluding every call except ones that you specify
