Hi gurus,
I have been using Cupcake edition LG EVE ( GW620) for quite a time in India. The GPS Works perfectly in India using Google maps or RMAPS..
However ever since I have come to US, it is not working, it just keeps on searching for Satellite.
I tried GPS TEST software, it shows 5-6 satelite but all are gray.
which means the satellites are non position based.
All the seven are non position based. it shows speed altitude etc.
I even tried reinstalling RMAPS but no success.
Any clues on this, One more point im not using any cell service as im using another phone, so the cell network is not used. I tried Airplane mode as well as normal mode...
Any clues?

My problem is not the lag or connecting. But its staying connected. I use quick gps, then gps test, then I start up my gps program. I use TomTom, Garmin XT, and tested out google maps. When I connect the gps will work then it drops signal and garmin say lost gps signal. I have turned on gps test and all other programs off to see what happens and it drops signal and says looking for gps unit. Then it starts and drops. I tried soft reset and it happened again. I'm still messing with it to see if I can figure it out or if it is the phone. Does anyone know if there is some kind of software conflict or if something is causing the error. I have tried the gps programs with my bluetooth gps unit I use to use on my 8525 and it worked great. I really want to get this GPS working and be a little more reliable because this is one of the main reasons why I bought this phone.
AGPS is disabled?
No agps is enabled
Does anyone have any idea why this is occurring or anything I can try. I have updated to the latest garmin but it still doesn't work properly. I can connect sometimes and use the gps. But when trying to reconnect it gets satellites then drops them. On gps test it shows 3d like 8 satellite bars and saying starting gps then losses everything and says looking for gps then does the samething again over and over.
I still have a lag problem but:
Check that AGPS is off (Adv.Config. 3.3 is your friend)
Set polling through the COM interface to a lower speed (4800/9600/19200 max.)
Use GPS test
GO OUTSIDE
WAIT
I got lock with ANY radio though it may have taken up to 5 mins.
I get a lock but then it will lose signal. Or if I turn the gps off and try and lock on later it keeps cycling between looking for gps and gps starting but doesn't go to gps running just goes back to looking for gps
I have the same exact problem. Gps test will connect, then quickly lose connection. Tomtom and garmin will get a signal for a few seconds and then lose connection. This is all outside with a clear view of the sky. I've tried two different fuze's with multiple roms and radios and the problem is still there. I finally got fed up and went back to my e71. This is ridiculous in a $500 phone..
I was thinking about returning it but I did a search and I noticed this is a common problem. I thought it was mainly lag but I see there are several problems with this gps. That sucks because I was really looking forward to the internal gps coming from the 8525/herms. If I really need to get somewere I sill have to carry my bluetooth gps reciever. I 'm going to try some of the tweaks people have suggested and see if it helps.
I haven't used my GPS a ton, but the little I have, it has worked, as long as I am in the car or outside. When I am in the house, it rarely finds a signal. I think that the GPS radio is pretty weak, though generally you don't need GPS when inside of a building.

You mean NO lag?
Isn't GPSLOG = 0 disabling logging? BTW I also changed the registry using adv.cfg. to go to the SD card, not device

Hi! I'm having troubles when navigating. I have turned on the two options of location, the GPS and Network Location services. When i start navigating with Google Navigation, i can see the GPS icon looking for signal. When signal arrives, i start navigating perfectly. In aprox 30 seconds, the icon dissapear, in the Google Navigation software i can see: Searching GPS and no more. I need to restart the program again for get another 30 seconds of navigation.
Can somebody help me?
Thanks
P.D: Trying to solve yesterday i flash again the original FW with Emergency mode, but i didn't repair nothing.
The FW is V10_00d VODAFONE SPAIN
Hello,
I have just the same problem. I have previously the firmware 10c and GPS worked fine.
Last week the system was updated automatically to the same firmware than you, "10d Vodafone SPAIN", and now I have exactlly the same problem than you with GPS.
From what I know, there are newer versions of LG firmware for this mobile, but not available yet for downloading officially.
Regards.

IMPORTANT:
Try the following, this morning worked for me, I do not know it was a solution or not, but just in case...
- Using the widget on the notification bar, deactivate Data (last button on the right)
- From the same widget, activate GPS (button just on the left of that one)
- Open the google maps
- Try to get GPS coverage (I have tried driving)
- After getting GPS location, the mobile does not loose it never
- Then, try to connect data again, the GPS signal remains
I have tried just this morning twice, driving and walking, and worked fine. I do not know if it is a "workaround" or just worked to me once, I will try again today when I drive back.
Hopefully it will work to you too, let me know.
Good luck.
Have any skyrocket owners run into issues with the GPS? Over the last few days I've found that the GPS radio is very hit or miss, & more often miss than not.
I typically leave the GPS radio off, enabling it when I need maps, navigation, yelp, etc.On my original GS2 this had worked without issue ... after turning on the radio I'd have GPS functionality within a few seconds.
On the sky, though, Google Maps, Places, etc report "waiting for location" for several seconds; then Maps times out with no result while Places errors out with the message "your different location is temporarily unavailable" ... this even after the GPS radio has been on for 30+ minutes! i've had this result whether I'm inside our outside.
Fwiw under location services I have UseWiFi OFF, Use GPS ON, & Sensor Aiding ON.
I should mention that SOME times out does work, though I've not found a pattern.doesn't appear to be battery related, since i've had it not work at full charge, then work later that day at 5% charge.
Too I downloaded the GPS Status app to directly see what result the GPS radio was returning ... that app shows the GPS properly returning a latitude & longitude, but then exciting the app & trying Maps still gets no GPS/location result.
I also get this issue, so is it a map issue or a gps issue? cause I will go down to ATT and return this *****.
My GPS works great locks almost instantly indoors or out. Infact its by far the best of any phone i've had yet.
I've been having the same issue. Mine has trouble locking my coordinates for minutes at times. I will run the GPS Test and it will look for towers for minutes at a time and it takes forever for it to update the clock and get a Long & Lat fix. To fix it, I have to toggle the GPS button and sometimes it works and other times I end up having to reboot. Yesterday while driving and using the maps, it lost the signal while enroute and wouldn't pick up another signal until I rebooted.
It's quite odd ... when I was traveling in Portland last few days, the GPS issues were often and persistent. Get back home to SF, and suddenly GPS has started working w/o issue, try as I can I can't get it to reproduce the problem now ???
I don't seem to have any issues with the GPS on my Skyrocket. It usually locks on within 10 seconds and is accurate.
Hello all,
I was just wondering if anyone else has seen this.
Randomly while using GPS navigation my phone will loose data connection.
Will still have signal just no internet.
Have to quit nav then re-enable data in settings and try again or reboot the device.
At the same time I have a sensation right next to me with no problems at all.
Also sometimes I notice if I drive thru a area with no coverage the phone wont get signal back on its own again also requiring a reboot.
An ideas?
I've seen that one as well among many other network issues in this phone.
Yet, in my situation both data and network will return if you wait some seconds/ minutes. No need for any intervention.
Sent from my HTC One S using XDA
I have seen this as well, had to enter airplane mode to get the radio to reboot.
Whats weird I noticed too if not actively using GPS or streaming I don't have the problem.
Will make the 30 min trip home and not be singed out of talk and have good signal too.
On my next trip will try with searching directly thru maps rather then using shortcut and see if that makes a difference. Was on a short trip 2 days ago with another one of these of my friends and she didn't have the problem but I used shortcut and she did direct search. Only difference there.
This happens to me too :s
Just also tried doing a master reset and testing it without even signing into google account or any applications and it did the same thing.
Oddly enough I then signed in, downloaded slacker radio, speed test, battery notif, and telenav.
Over a 18 minute drive with streaming slacker music and navigation by telenav it worked ok.
Later on my way home I didn't have slacker running just Telenav over a different trip route about 16 minues and it happened again.
Just seems like anytime running GPS it will randomly loose data.
Turning off the GPS nav program for a minute gets data back again.
Are you using an EU based rom? I had that problem too with those on my US One S
Hey, I must admit GPS on mine is awesome, However i have one annoying bug...
When using google navigation, The maps fail to rotate towards the direction im in, For example, On any other sat nav, Me (the arrow) is always facing straight ahead.. With google navigation this doesnt work,
Earlier today i was driving but the map was upside down and because it was upside down, Left became right and vice versa.. It was a real pain in the ass.. and the volume is so quiet too, It took me 1hour to do a 20minute journey..
Someone tell me theres a solution to this, without having to pay for an alternative sat nav app

With mine I am running 100% stock. Didn't root, unlock, or make any modifications for it.
Really annoying.
It is very odd that for instance into work about a 30 minute drive it worked fine with streaming music no problem all the way in.
To another destination about18 minutes got about 10 minutes into the drive, music stopped playing 4g had a arrow stuck up and grey down arrow. With about a minute or 2 lost 4g connection and just bars. 4 minutes later no 4g back. Quit GPS Nav withing about 30 seconds got 4g back again.

I don't have the One S (yet), but if it's anything like other Android phones, you need to touch the compass icon (red and white arrows) on the nav screen to change modes.
Tested on way home with just on 2g only and didn't seem to have the problem that way.
But phone also didn't get as hot on 2g only even though was using GPS nav and streaming music.
Think I am going to call them on monday to see if I can get them to replace the phone.
Just stumbled across someone else that I know from school that has had the same problem with it dropping randomly with GPS use only.
No pattern as to a cause though.
Seems like I don't have this problem if I use 2g only though.

it really seems that in all communication issues we have with this phone, 2G is a solution, yet, it's slow and cannot provide data while speaking...

Old thread, I know. I'm experiencing something like this on my rooted 3G VZW Droid Incredible...
As of a few days ago, built-in Navigation app fails with "Data connection reset" (or maybe "Data connection lost"). I have rebooted phone, tried to get directions at different times of day, to and from different locations. Steps to reproduce-- start Navigation app. Enter destination. It shows map and my current (correct) GPS location in dimmed out map, while a "connecting" message appears on top. After about 60 seconds, voice says that data connection has been lost, and the spinner continues to spin indefinitely. If I exit that screen and try again, I get same results. I use Navigation 2-3 times per day, and it has worked well for the past 2+ years. This problem is very new. I have killed app and restarted, and I have hard-reset device and tried as well. Same results each time. I have not made any updates to the phone recently, and have not added any new apps. Based on the "data connection lost" message, it gives me the impression that the server side is hanging up on the request for directions. Or???
Hi,
I had my offline maps in Oruxmaps and went on a mountain trip. I tried GPS and it didnĀ“t work, came back to the city, and with phone signal it worked. I tried with gpsfix and fasterfix also.
Is GPS supposed to work without phone signal?
I think I tried it a long time ago in Gingerbread, on airplane mode, and GPS worked perfectly.
Thanks.
