Will look into it and remove the download link for now
Sorry for the time you wasted
Will post back when i got it fixed
i get bootloop too, i have an ext3 partition, i don't understand.
No problem I'm always happy to test. Must be something missing to cause a boot loop. Will test fixed version when its done.

[ROM][Port][Updated: 20-Aug-2011]GB MIUI for Milestone2 All-in-one update.zip

THIS THREAD IS OUTDATED. DO NOT USE. LOOK FOR OTHER MIUI ROMS AVAILABLE ON DEVELOPMENT FORUM.
As usual I won't hold any responsibility to any damages it may cause to your phone.
Thanks to Endless7 for research on this subject. Great work!
Thanks to dangpzanco and walter79 for support and ideas.
This is a simplified method of installing MIUI into Milestone2 devices. This ROM is based on Defy's WajkIUI 1.8.12 - MULTiLanguage. It's still a experimental port so not everything is working fine. With this package you DON'T need to flash any SBF into your phone.
Requirements:
- Froyo or GB rooted phone.
- CWM Recovery 3.0+. You can get it here.
Installation:
- Download update.zip to your sdcard.
- Boot into CWM Recovery
- Apply update.zip
- Wipe data/cache/dalvik cache/battery stats
- Reboot.
Notes:
- Update-scrip now backs up Swype during installation. If you are just updating your MIUI version you may not get Swype. In this case you must manually copy /system/app/Swype.apk and /system/lib/libSwypeCore.so. I won't include these files in my package as they're copyrighted and I don't have permission to distribute them.
Working:
1. Compass.
2. Sensors.
3. LED.
4. CWM Recovery
5. Device Keyboard
6. Keyboard Backlight
7. CPU Frequencies in Bootmenu
8. USB mounting
Not working:
1. Virtual keyboard half size (but now we have Swype)
2. ALT LOCK key from keyboard ( you can double press ALT instead of ALT LOCK )
3. Media HW play, only support .MP4 hardware decoding
4. Buggy message about moving data to sdcard in every boot.
FOR THE ONES HAVING PROBLEMS WITH GSM RADIO:
1. Search for Milestone2 baseband switcher app. If it doesn't work try this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1182050
Changelog:
20-08-2011:
- Fixed MIUI Torch/Light sensor/Backlight bugs from 19-08-2011 update.
19-08-2011:
- Fixed camera screen upside down
- Fixed USB mounting
- Added Swype Backup&Restore during installation
18-08-2011:
- Fixed CPU Frequencies on Bootmenu
- Fixed keyboard backlight and light sensor
- New bootanimation
Please, report any problems you found so I and the other may try to fix it.
Thanks

What is the difference b/w this and the one posted by Endless7?? The reason I'm asking is that I wasn't able to boot that one. I was not even able to get to stock recovery afterwards.

Probably because you didn't flash the fixed sbf correctly. My package is made from the same source as endless7, but I've included all images that needs flashing on the update.zip so you don't need to flash anything with rsd lite.

My MIUI uses baseband files from Brazil 2.2 SBF. You may try Milestone2 baseband switcher app.
No luck for me with the GSM signal. This is pretty strange. Because under system-> mobile network settings, it shows my operator correctly but still there is no signal.
Anything you can suggest??

I have tried that. I get the signal every now and then. But after a while it drops.
I have heard that there are different radios (for GSM) available for CM7. So could it be that I need to use some different radio (if such a thing exists for Defy CM7)??
I mean a friend having similar issues with CM7 on Galaxy S told me.
Hey I solved my problem myself. I replaced all files in etc/motorola/bp_nvm_default/ in the MIUI ROM with the ones from w0ndersp00n's Deblurred GB (since I had no signal issues with it) and changed permissions of all files to rw-r--r--, now it works perfectly. No signal drops.
Got the idea from Defy section. Following post.

so basically, once i flashyour update zip, are there any fixes or files to flash myself, and if so which ones? thanks!

Galaxy SL I9003 CyanogenMod7 Q&A

Galaxy SL I9003 CyanogenMod7 Q&A
The only rule of CyanogenMod: you don't ask for ETAs. You install, your warranty is void.
Warning : Not for new users, flash this build only if you know what you are doing !!!
Hello Everybody..
I made this thread is ONLY for Question & Answer for Galaxy SL i9003 CyanogenMod 7.1.0 development.
Galaxy SL i9003 of CyanogenMod7 developer a.k.a Codeworkx is still working on this CM7 rom and please do not go off the topic in there. He's working alone and cannot answer all your question.
This is the thread to get know about CyanogenMod7 on Galaxy SL i9003
[WIP][ROM][2.3.7][GWK74] CyanogenMod 7 for Samsung Galaxy SL
Anything about your question & answer, you SHOULD post here.
FAQ (Please Read!!)
Q: Can I flash over a previous version of CM7?
A: If updating from an already CM7 running SGSL phone, just flash the latest update zip file as it contains all the fixes from previous updates.
Q: I just installed and I don't see the Marketplace, cannot see GMail, cannot sync Contacts.
Q: I just installed and I don't see any Google Apps.
A: You need to install the Google apps.
Q: I restored from Titanium Backup but my applications are not working
A: Do not restore system data, only restore application+user data. CM7 uses new system data and if you restore on top of it, things will not work.
Q: My battery life is simply awful, any tips?
A: Wi-Fi, bluetooth, and GPS are major battery killers. Wi-Fi and bluetooth are particularly hungry, so turn them off when you don't need them.
Q: The phone booted but I'm not getting any signal, what gives?
Q: My phone takes a few minutes to establish a 3g signal after I turn it on, what gives?
A: Known issue with polling when staring up the network. Put the phone to sleep by pressing the power button and waking it up a few times and it will usually come up with a signal.
Q: I lost my SMSC information, how to I get it back?
A: Follow these steps to restore.
Q: When will Voodoo sound/color/sharpness be integrated?
A: Maybe some parts will be integrated someday, but there some UNSUPPORTED kernels available on the threads that do this already. Please direct any issues related to these to the appropriate developers, not us.
Q: Your notification toggles are different than mine, how can I change them?
A: Go into Settings, CyanogenMod Settings, Interface, Notification power widget, Widget buttons
Q: I really miss the accurate battery mods, can I flash these?
A: No, but you can go into Settings, CyanogenMod Settings, Interface, Status bar tweaks, "Battery percentage"
Q: Where can I get themes for this?
A: A quick search for "theme engine" on the market will produce a number of results, but there are some in the general Android Themes section
Q: Can I use the video player/music player/contacts/phone/launcher from a Samsung ROM?
A: No, anything hooking into Samsung's framework will not work on this ROM, there are plenty of alternatives in the market.
Q: How do I go back to a Samsung stock ROM?
A: The easiest way is to go back to stock using Odin and flashing a full firmware (including PIT file) with repartition checked (Odin One-Click does this by default on Captivate)
Q: Can I use ROM Manager to install or back up this ROM?
A: Yes. (not applicable at this time)
Q: Why can't I play .avi or .mkv files? They worked fine with Samsung's ROM.
A: Due to codec licensing issues, this can't be provided out of the box. Several apps from the marketplace should be able to replicate this feature (such as RockPlayer)
Q: Can I use another kernel like CF-Root with this?
A: MAYBE, but you have to make sure it is compatible. We do not support any kernels except the one we install.
Q: GTalk doesn't work with FFC?
A: We can either have a fully fixed camera without gtalk video chat support (samsung libcamera)
or we can have a buggy camera with gtalk video chat support (opensource libcamera). We went with the fully working camera without GTalk FFC support. Once we have updated libs from Samsung for camera, it'll work.
Q: I encountered a bug, how do I find out if it's known and where can I report it?
A: You can look through the issue tracker here. If you do not see your issue, please report it. If someone else has it, please star it (but please do not file "Me too!" reports). Try to also attach the logcat output and last_kmsg to the bug report by:
Code:
desktop$ adb logcat > logcat.txt
desktop$ adb shell
# cat /proc/last_kmsg > /sdcard/last_kmsg (only if you had a crash/reboot)
# dmesg > /sdcard/dmesg.txt
# exit
desktop$ adb pull /sdcard/last_kmsg .
desktop$ adb pull /sdcard/dmesg.txt .
desktop$
Attach the logcat.txt and last_kmsg files to the bug report. Of course, you need to have the android SDK installed to do this. Use this to paste the bug:- http://pastebin.com/
Thank you. Im just helping
You are right. This is good topic I think!

was thinking abt a creating such thread then i see this..
how abt adding "bug reports" to the title?
also add in ur op that the thread is only meant for members who wish to know current state of cm7 b4 installing it.
N mention not to complain abt bugs demanding to get them solved. only mention them. ur getting my point...
bcoz many will be afraid to flash it, includes me, cause we dont want the phone to screw up during work!!
n also add "codeworkx is not permitted to visit the thread"
OP UPDATE! thanks
use 3 COMBO button!
volume up + home button and then power button
then you will see 1st boot
count 1 2 3
release home button and power button..
you will see recovery..

your device doesn't need to be rooted first.
just flash Codeworkx Kernel over xxkpm, then install CM7 zip file via *CWM.
the CM7 is pre-rooted.

[ROM][17 Feb] GGL ROM - Defy Green Lens [Android 2.3.6]

GGL ROM - GingerbreadGreenLens ROM (please understand that this is my 1st ROM which is based on the nandroid provided by walter79's)
Donate to him (walter79): https://www.paypal.com/cgi-bin/webscr?cmd=_s-xclick&hosted_button_id=VNEELS79XLXNJ
I've created this to help Green Lens users (like myself) to get "stock" Motorola Defy+ 2.3.6 easier. Without flashing greenbreadmod, battery fix etc.
This ROM works on Red Lens also
For Red Lense users change /etc/media_profiles.xml with this:http://www.mediafire.com/?yrgm6t2xdtjgpz9 and set permissions
for proper FPS on bayer module
Why this and not CM7.2?
Well, I really love CM7.2 but on this ROM I get Faster 3D (sais Quadrant) and Better(faster) (IMHO) GPS than CM7.2.
How to install:
-Extract the GGL-ROM folder from archive
-Put the folder on sd-card in clockworkmod/backup
-Go to recovery and restore back-up
-Go to Advance restore and restore boot & devtree
-Enjoy

This ROM is based on 4.5.1-134_DFP-231 from 12. Jan. 2012 (with new lockscreen)
Contains:
- 1% battery ready, deodexed, 720p, debranded (thanks walter79)
- GreenBreadMod2 (with 4.5.1-134-DFP-139 ramdisk)(walter79)
- batteryfix(walter79)
- I really hated Motorola transition animations (except rotation). I removed them and added ICS ones.
- Widescreen Recording
- Added Reboot button
- Reduced proximity sensor delay to 150 ms
- Changed FVGA recording codec to m4v.
- Changed build.prop to display correct model MB525
- Removed task manager (it was useless anyway) Here if you want it back: http://www.mediafire.com/?cbir21289tdsq75 put it in system/app and set permissions
- Red Motorola Pulse Bootanimation
- init.d support
- Zipalign at boot
- RamOptimizer (script at boot)
- CM7 libsqlite.so (Faster I/O)
- Deblurred & Deactivated Setup (at 1st start you'll get "communicating with server" for ~1-2 minutes) (from build.prop thanks walter79 for guide)
- Default Language: en_US

No bugs reported/found.

Please test and feedback.

there's a guide here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1342388
but it's not enough since motorola have their own animations. so in addition to this you have to make a copy of this files (you'll find them in the tutorial):
activity_close_enter.xml
activity_close_exit.xml
activity_open_enter.xml
activity_open_exit.xml
rename them to:
zz_moto_activity_close_enter.xml
zz_moto_activity_close_exit.xml
zz_moto_activity_open_enter.xml
zz_moto_activity_open_exit.xml
this should replace 4 of motorola files.

Restored this nandroid from recovery... there was MIUI on the phone before... I made factory reset and cache/dalvik wipe and then restored the nandroid and got bootloop with red moto logo.
What could be wrong?
I flashed a 2.2.2 froyo kernel after the recovery and it did not help.

Thanks for this resource. But did you realise that the zip also contains many other things that have nothing to do with torchlights (some of your own stuff)?

Will I be able to enable yellow light( if needed) after flashing this? Also, what colour of light is flashed in camera?
I'm on LineageOS 14.1 for mido, 3 gb ram and 32 gb memory, snapdragon processor.

I just found this zip in lineage 14 forum. Its not mine. Can you identify whats other things in it except the yellowish flash fix ?
Also can i delete the system/bin/ files seen on zip file on my rom ?? Will that cause system crash ?
And backup file in addon.d/ ?

I never install a zip without first checking its contents.
Everything in the zip file's system directory has no relevance to the yellow flash fix. It replaces your /etc/hosts file. It also installs several scripts into your /system/bin/ directory, and (with /system/addon.d/76-backup.sh) tries to make them persistent when you change your ROM.
I have not bothered to study all the scripts that it installs to your /system/bin/ directory - but I personally would delete them (and the script that it installed to /system/addon.d as well). I cannot see why deleting them would cause a system crash - but, as I said, I have not studied them all.
