so even without the phone being released yet, were starting to get a picture of what features it has, and doesn't have. since the development section is reserved for actual development, I'm going to share what my development todo list looks like, for some essential tweaks once the device is released.
if you've got a good idea, or useful tweak you think of, you're encouraged to share it.
anyone's welcome to hijack my thread as they'd like, the more open, the more we can collaborate on each project, whether it be one of mine, or one i have nothing to do with~
TODO:
'Privacy Mode': music won't shift over to loudspeaker during notifications when headphones are attached. (note* Boeffla kernel implemented this in sgs3)
long press volume up/down track skip. (not sure if sgs4 will have this or not, but assuming its missing, it'll be a fairly easy mod) (note* possibly first todo).
freaking remove parental controls from camera. samsung lovesss to be a natzi when it comes to when you can use YOUR camera; camera wont work when battery <15%, or during music, in call, or during a media scans, shutter sound, and auto focus sounds are immutable... considering sgs1/2/and 3 all required custom modding to make them functional, its safe to assume well again need to play this little game with samsung yet again ...
keep screen off during notifications option
it may look short but theres already a massive amount of time involved.
- CRT OFF.
- Centre Clock.
- Depending how the sound quality comes out off the DAC, developing it via kernel.
Black statusbar

Any help er tips?
Thnx in advance!
[APP][CM9/CM10] Profile Switcher
[APP][CM9/CM10] Profile Switcher
This app allows you to setup schedules to switch profiles.
Features also include resetting the profile when headphones are pluged/unplugged and the ability to set a once-off 'timed profile' (similar to the old Nokias).

Hello Everyone,
I'm going to start building a custom ROM for the Pixel 2. I own the Pixel, Pixel XL, Pixel 2, and Pixel 2 XL. At first I will start on the Pixel 2, later on I will branch out to my other devices.
The only reason I am posting this is to get some feedback on what the community would like added into the Rom?
That's it.
So, XDA Community what would you like to see in a Custom Rom on the Pixel 2?

Are you going to build it from scratch and compile a ROM yourself, based on AOSP sources & device tree, or just modify and fine tune existing stock ROM? ?

I'm researching currently. Been studying the last ten hours. I'm thinking I will build off AOSP. Just seems the best way to go at this point. I've reached out to a few devs, asked if I could take a look at their files. I'm only in the beginning phases, and I will be taking my time making sure it works as it should.
Very desirable:
- Long press power button for flashlight.
- Long press volume rocker to skip tracks.
- Volume buttons always control media volume.
- Volume buttons follow screen orientation.
- Notification ticker
Desirable:
- Ambient display brightness full control.
- DUI Smartbar (Pulse, editor)
- Lockscreen clock editor (font, size, etc)
- Quick settings editor
- Battery light led control
Thank you for taking the time to bring a little of AOSP goodness for Pixel 2!

My wish-list;
My wish-list;
- All black theme (a battery life saver thanks to Pixel 2 AMOLED screen).
- Built-in wakelock blocker app (inside settings-app)
- Minimal amount of Google Apps installed.
- No extra bloat or useless apps that is wasting resources (give us just the basic apps like browser and photo viewer and let us install everything else from scratch).
- Adblocker.
- Gorgeous wallpapers.
- Built & compiled with the best toolchain out there, for maximum performance & battery life.
- Audio mod for better speaker output.
- Perfd system daemon disabled.
- Battery life tuned CPU governors.

Google's stock ROMs are so good at this point that wholesale changes aren't really needed anymore, mainly convenience tweaks. Things like status bar customizations, nav bar, etc. On the Pixel 2, for the first time in years I don't feel compelled to do a whole lot. So I'd say stick close to stock, but with the ability to customize the things that other posters have already requested.

With gravity box nd xposed you can pretty much do all thaf
Advanced power menu
theme manager, either like the old miui theme manager or htc m8 (no root required on the latter)
Is the USB 3.0/USB 3.0 cable problem something in the ROM (that you could fix)?
Otherwise, I'd be happy with CPU speed control, wakelock control and, of course, a dark theme.
Oh, and one other thing - if I set Battery Saver on (which I always do - I really don't need the speed), I want it to stick the next time I turn the phone on. I want it back when I unplug the charger. Doable? (I spent 45 years developing software, so I can see that's happening, and I can't see much code change needed to do that.)
