You think there is anyway now with froyo coming out, and it being faster and all (even thought it would be a battery drain maybe..) to have a youtube video widget? Being able to watch a video from youtube on your homescreen?
Example: Your searching for a video on youtube and start watching it, you get a text or just want to get to your homescreen and instead of it stopping you can continue to play/see it on your homescreen as a widget.
Is this even possible?
I doubt it...I don't think Android widgets (At least on the stock homescreen) allow such actions to exist...we are still waiting on stock scrolling widgets (which would be awesome)

It would be cool if there was a video player widget for our evos. We can watch a video from sd card and scroll through homescreens .
What do you guys think?
That would be neat. It shouldn't be too hard considering you can do it with pictures.

Click to collapse
I wouldn't know how to do it but I'm hoping devs will consider this idea. We can only put music and picture widgets but forgetting videos too
Anyone have any ideas? I would love to see this happen
Widgets are not made to be updated with video. HTC widgets in Sense are a bit different though.
A standard Android widget can use an ImageView, but is restricted to only a few other types of views. It cannot use a VideoView. In other words it can display a picture but cannot do full video.
I've never looked at Sense closely enough to see if we can access their extended widget. It may be that there is a way if you wanted the widget to only work on Sense.
maybe im a little confused, do you want it to be playing the video when you are on the widgets screen? ugh cool I guess but my god the lag and irritation of hearing the sound everytime you go passed it would be annoying <to me> but i guess it'd be cool
Hi.
I tried using ADW Launcher EX. I like it, runs smooth, but i have 1 issue.
When i use it, i cant add 2 of the built-in Xperia-Play widgets. I cant choose "Music player" (the stock player widget), and i cant choose "Photo and Videos" (the widget with the scrollable Pics & Videopreviews).
Is there a way to enable these 2 widgets when using ADW Launcher EX?
Thanks
I know that the music player widget only works with the SE launcher.
Hm, that sucks...i like that widget.
Are there maybe some apps/widgets that do the same and look the same as my 2 missing widgets?
Well not sure about same look but PowerAMP is the best music player, its not free though but well worth the money. If you dont have a market account you can buy direct from PowerAmp website https://market.android.com/details?id=com.maxmpz.audioplayer&feature=search_result You can also download a widget plugin for it.
For free ones i dont really know since i use poweramp but try these; ?
Meridian Media Player Autonomy
Winamp
MixZing
Not sure if they are any good but it seems they support widgets. Dont know about a gallery widget replacment since i dont even use the stock one lol
They look nice, but i miss one tiny little thing. The stock Music-Widget shows the title-length, and a status-bar.
I'm also on ADWLauncher EX and purchased PowerAMP and IMO I like it more than the stock SE widget anyways. In the next version of PowerAMP, you'll be able to use custom made skins for it and I can't wait for that!
Did anybody find a replacement for the Photo and Video widget? I really love to scroll through my pictures and videos on my screen so I don't have to open the Gallery. anybody any ideas?
I love the stock SE animated Weather widgets
It's the only reason I use the Stock launcher since the SE apps won't work on any others
Sorry if this is addressed in another thread, but I didn't see it regarding the TF as of yet.
Does anyone know of a way to get music controls present on the Lock screen on the TF? I know that my rooted HTC Glacier with the Google Music application running gives me the Track Backwards, Play/Pause, Track Forwards controls, but I was at the understanding that it was the Rom that gave that functionality?
Is this something that would only appear or be possible via a custom Rom after rooting, or something that you would have to have via a 3rd party music app?
I hope this functionality is present in HC as it's so much more convenient to skip a song without fully unlocking the device just to lock it again when just casually listening while working or what not.
Thanks in advance!
Playerpro lets you do this. Well, actually it adds another lockscreen with the widget (see screenshot) - when you press the back button, it takes you to the stock lockscreen. Good when you want to just swap tracks, but means you have essentially 2 lockscreens to get to the homescreen.
WinAmp also has a lockscreen option.

Thanks for the great tips. Had not heard of Playerpro, nor did I know WinAmp offered this functionality. Here's hoping to the Google Music App having this functionality so I can take advantage of the cloud music and have the controls from the lock screen.
hi all
i have an asus transformer..is it really multitasking?
as far as im concern the stock browser only capable of 1 tab at a moment. say for example on one tab i play youtube video, then when i open another tab,the youtube video just stop. is there any way to make it really running in background?
Use opera mobile, The stock browser sucks
On the stock browser they disabled flash when switched to another tab. Here's an example of multitasking; start a page loading then switch tabs. Wait a while and go back to the first tab. Did it finish loading?
Android multitasking is really just keeping the app stationary and open in the background until you recall it again. It isn't like Windows where you minimize a window with a video playing and the video keeps playing. Just doesn't have that kind of power.
Ik that it's possible to feed apps with fake info with Xposed but my case is a bit complex so I didn't find a good keyword to search of. Here's my case:
As probably all of you know the YT Music-App does not support bg-playback through LP/Xposed without YT Music-Subscription. It instantly detects that it's running in the browser and stops playing. Even when you run the music.youtube.com-Website in your Browser and put the browser in the bg it stops (but only after ~1 sec after putting the browser in the bg).
This implies that the browser normally wants to play the audio he receives from the page like he always does on any player on websites like YT, OpenLoad, etc. but the page itself stops sending an audio signal.
So theoretically if you would overwrite system info and always feed the browser app running music.youtube.com/ YT-Music app/ opened website inside the browser with the info that it would be running in the bg even tho it doesn't it wouldn't stop playing music right?
If that is correct, is there a Xposed-Module or anything else which is capable of doing this?
