Headset with mic that works? - Galaxy S I9000 Accessories

Hi everyone,
I'm looking for a replacement headset for the SGS (the bundled one's sound doesn't cut it for me), but after having tried a couple (Ety HF2, etc) I noticed that, while they work fine for media playback, none of them work as a handsfree solution, ie the sound of a phonecall doesn't pass through when they're connected.
Anyone tried a good pair of handsfree earphones that work?
Thanks.

headsets that work for Nokia N97 ( and similar ) would work.

I bought a nameless one off ebay, advertised for Nokia 3.5mm jacks.
yeah, the iPhone and HTC ones do not work, which surprised and annoyed me because I have 4 or 5 iPhone headsets and adaptors which I was using with my HTC BlackStone/HD.
Then I found out that the 2 sections of the pin nearest the sleeve are wired in reversed ( iPhone/HTC earphones are wired left, right, ground, mic, whereas Nokia/Samsung earphones are wired left, right, mic, ground). The ground and mic are reversed. Very annoying.

could it be this?

I'm looking for one also.

How about the offical ? http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=230487010384&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT

i use my triplefi10 through a nokia ad57 remote
works wonder
i had to switch the cable for the triplefi10 form vi to stock cos the vi cable is iphone compatible so the ground and mic terminals are reversed.
i got the stock trs cable for the triplefi10 pro and plugged it into the nokia remote and now i have a headset mith inlline mic with remote

This sounds like a good solution, but doesn't it make the cable incredibly long so you can't use it while walking?

yup the cables are a problem. Im in the process of making a diy cable for my triplefi10. planning of making it only up to the y-junction and terminate there with a 3.5 plug so its short. Good thing about the triplefi10 is you can replace the cable. I havent received the plug connectors i ordered yet so im still waiting. I used the cable of the nokia headset that came with the adaptor for the 5310xpressmusic. I cracked the earpieces and desoldered the cable. now all i have to do is attach the plug connectors once they arrive

Could someone clarify whether this Nokia AD57 does work WITHOUT any modifactions? I assume the modifactions you made were for the earphones?
http://shop.ebay.co.uk/?_from=R40&_...13&_nkw=nokia+ad57+&_sacat=See-All-Categories
So AD57 with standard earphones work fine?
though I did come across this whistl on eBay http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/GENUINE-SAMSU...UK_Mobiles_Accessories_RL&hash=item4aa27f72c5

Sony Ericsson Headsets do work with this phone
I do have an old headset from my previous Xperia X10 which was stolen...
the headset works perfectly with samsung Galaxy S, even the mic can be used for communicating...
its a perfect match

yes i can confirm the remote adaptor works (ad57)
the nokia remote adaptors with multiple buttons for music remote doesnt work (ad54 and others with forward reverse buttons) which is a pity i think, considering that the player on the SGS is one o the best players on any device anywhere, i think. I aredy mailed samsung development about remote control support for the player and they acknowledged the suggestion

using a good A2DP capable Bluetooth Headset will give you that ability out of the box right now as i'm using it.

Yes and kill your battery twice as fast... Bluetooth sucks up power. Especially when cold like skiing.

wired headsets doesn't work for me, it always end up dead, broken, the worst is when it breaks at the phone side,
i can care less if the headset itself breaks.
is horrible to use wired headsets in a busy subway/bus
when -skiing- skateboarding i always use my motorola HT820 it's warm, doesn't fall off, and is extremely convenient
it goes perfectly with the goggles and headband/hat

I've just ordered this http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=350335571399&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT
I'll feedback my results once its arrived.

NOOOOO that's an absolute must have for me.
Can u send me the samsung dev info i'll do the same (do they tend to acknowledge everything or can we reasonably assume they'll think about it?)
Is it possible to develop a driver for the remotes to work?

AFAIK, the remote support is software dependent, it might be correct to state that its really a matter of adding some more lines of code to the player application to recognize double and triple presses on the mic button as it aredy recognizes single presses. Also, for those nokia music adaptors with remotes, i think they have batteries inside and if you press the forward button, they send signal pulses akin to double or triple press. As far as the volume buttons tho, i dont have any idea how it is implemented, but it may be anchored on the pulse frequency too but it must be on a system wide implementetion.

re: Samsun Galaxy S Music Player
Hi, I just got the samsung galaxy s.
I would like to know if the player supports remote commands from the inline mic button of the headset other than play and pause.
I would like to have the usual press twice to go to next track and press thrice to go back but it seems the player does not recognize this.
Also, it would be nice to support those headsets with integrated music controller like dedicated fast forward, reverse buttons.
Thank you

Remote control with headphones

On my previous phones diamond and hero i've used the HTC RC E100 remote. It was quite handy, allowed me to control the music player without getting the phone out of my pocket, and the best thing was i could just use my own headphones!
Unfortunatly it has a mini-usb connector. Now that the desire uses a micro USB connector i am looking for something similiar.
Control for music, volume, phone (incl. mic) and where i can plug in my own headphones.
I just love those in ear headphones and don't want to use the ones that came with the desire.
Does anybody know about a remote that would fit my desire and my needs?
Thanks everyone!

The Desire uses a standard micro USB (5-pin micro-USB 2.0) connection, I am just thinking whether or not the Desire even supports audio through the USB...
As far as I know, the Nexus One uses a standard Micro-USB connector, which has no audio support. The only way to listen through an amp is Bluetooth or the headphone jack.

thank you for the provided information. as the nexus one and the desire are very similar, i guess the desire will miss the audio support via usb as well. in all other phones where audio via usb was supported, HTC has used a non standard usb port.
i will keep on searching for a remote that plugs in via the headphone jack. if someone has an idea

I think I have a solution.
Jabra BT3030 bluetooth headset. A2DP and AVRCP so you get your stereo sound and also utilise audio controls. Plus it has a 3.5mm jack so you can plug in whatever headphones you want.
Google it. I've got one on the way.
I've been looking for head phones too, and these look like the best offer so far. I am a bit worried about the blue tooth running down the battery though. But let me know how you find these. If all the buttons work with the desire I'll probably get myself a set.
I've been using my Jabra BT3030 and the controls do work. There is a small time lag between pressing a button on the Jabra and it responding.
One good thing I found about the phone (with or without headphones) is that the volume control on the phone works even when the phone has gone to sleep. On my HD2 that didn't happen and it really annoyed me.

So how is the Jabra overall? Worth buying? I've been reading the amazon reviews and some issues have been raised, like the buttons not working with music after you get a call. Do the volume buttons work, and how is the sound quality? Lastly, how bad is it on the battery?
Thanks in advance.

these look interesting, i've been thinking about looking for some headphones with music controls too...
how is the sound quality with the jabra bt3030, is it just as good as having headphones plugged into the phone?
does running bluetooth hammer the phone battery?
yea i like the look of it, the ability to skip tracks without whipping ur phone out seems great. that always annoyed me with the iphone.. but as i listen to music for hours on end at work (Without a charger handy), i wanna know how much the BT will effect battery life?
id imagine it would decline pretty quickly ?
I have a Jabra BT 3030 which I used extensively with my G1 because I hated carrying around a MiniUSB to audio jack lead.
However I haven't even tried it with my Desire, like someone said its just another thing you need to remember to charge, and as the Desire has a headphone socket (and a micro usb) it would mean carry two leads, or an adaptor to keep them both charged.
That said the Jabra has a fairly decent battery life as long as you remember to turn it off when your not using it.
The sound quality is perfectly acceptable for listening to music unless your a real audiophile, though its obviously not as good as a direct connection to the phone.

I was in CPW last week and the guy who was serving me also had a desire, he was using the Nokia Bh-214 (iirc), its a bluetooth remote with a 3.5mm plug. I tried it out and it sounded good, it has full controls including volume. Its around £40 and available
Also, I have been searching about and found the Sony MW-600 its a bluetooth remote with a 3.5 mm jack, it also comes with headphones and has a built in FM radio. Also has full controls, its around £40 and not out till May.
Personally I am going to wait till the Sony one is out, it has positive reviews and i trust Sony more when it comes to music and the like. Just annoying having to wait!
I am using a cheap BT A2DP, and it works very well. It can be used as BT handsfree or stereo earphone, also has a remote to skip and back the track, that works fine in TuneWiki (but it not for HTC player). The quality of the sound is still far below my KOSS earphone though... but for 26USD and free delivery that thing is really a good deal.

Headset adapter with music control?

Does anyone know where to source such a beast?
In case it's not clear, what I want is a cable with a 3.5mm jack on one end - which you plug into the phone - and a 3.5mm socket on the other end - into which you plug your own headphones. In the middle, a mic, call answer button, and music control buttons.
I would've thought such a thing would be trivial to find, but it's not. For me, anyway. No matter what I put into eBay I can't find one that says it'll work for Android / our phone - I can find ones for the iPhone, but I don't know if they'd work on the Doubleshot / Android.
Anyone? thanks! I do *not* want a full headset with its own earphones - I have much better ones of my own I want to use.
You could try searching up an aux cable + mic for cars (eg. that Griffin one)
and combine it with a 3.5mm stereo female to female adapter
I guess that would work...it'd be nice to have something a bit less cumbersome, though. Thanks for the idea though!
The video cable I use for tv-out is an iPod video cable - if that helps.
thanks, blue - the thing I'm worried about is the music controls; I don't think Android and iPhone use the same system for those. Note that Klipsch make two different versions of their s4 headset, one for iPhone and one for Android - if both used the same controls then presumably there'd be no reason to do that...
I would take a lok at the Motorola S805, its a big earmuff dj style bluetooth that has playback controls on it.
Via bluetooth I can confirm it can play, pause, volume, next track and previous track controls. It also has a 3.5mm stereo jack in case you dont want to deal with bluetooh, but I dont actually have a 3.5mm cable to test it out on.

That's probably good thinking - i'll confess I have no clue how iOS handles anything. If you find out for sure one way or the other please let us know back here.
Good luck!
Elister: yeah, bt is one obvious option - I actually have a bt adapter, and bt music controls are standardized (it's one of the official bt profiles) so you can more or less rely on them working. But the drawbacks are that bt audio reduces quality somewhat, bt link is never as reliable as a cable, and you have extra battery drain on the phone and the bt adapter's battery to charge...just more fiddling around :/

Which headphone remotes work?

The Optimus 3d has a different set of connections for the headphone remote to the Desire HD, iPhone and most likely others.
Can you tell me which headphones with remotes work with the o3d? Also if you find a working one, what features does it have? ie. play, pause, rewind/ffwd, answer calls, mic, vol+/-, display?
To kick it off, I tried Beats Audio earbuds which have a working play/pause button but the skip, mic and vol+/- don't work. The remote is full-featured on the Desire HD.
Keen to hear from the O3D community about this. Also is there a software solution to getting them working? Is there a type of headphone remote that works on all LGs?

Yep, I've had good results with Bluetooth remotes but as for wired I haven't found anything with better functionality that play/pause.
I specifically want handsfree. So far none of the wired headphone remotes I've used have a compatible microphone. Was the Optimus 3D built without a capacity for remote controls and handsfree?

If you can afford $50 then I recommend the Rocketfish bluetooth receiver.
Why? Because it's "APT-X" compatible which means your audio won't be severely compressed like normal bluetooth does. So the highs will be crystal sparkly and the lows will be harder hitting.
Note... you'll have to splice the AC power cord into a USB connector so you can power the device using a USB charger. Easy peasy.

I use this in my car: [edit - can't post links yet] Search Amazon for "HomeSpot NFC-enabled Bluetooth Audio Receiver for Sound System"
Bluetooth is a great convenience, minus the whole pairing part (especially if you use multiple bluetooth devices/receievers like me). The solution? NFC pairing. Tap your GS4 to the top the first time, it will ask if you want to pair, click yes. Everytime thereafter, no user intervention is required, just unlock phone and touch the top of the receiver. Paired.
Sound quality is sufficient for me, I don't notice much difference in it between my other BT devices, and it's priced lower then most other BT receivers that don't even have NFC pairing ($28), although you will need to supply your own cigarette lighter to usb power adapter.
I like it so much I bought 3 of them.
I use the Blackberry ones -- the older version was called "Blackberry Stereo Gateway", and the new model is called "Blackberry Music Gateway". Both work perfectly for car use -- they turn on when the car turns on, and they automatically pair up with my Motorola Photon 4G.
Many car radios have inputs for phone/navigation systems. The main benefit when using that input is that the radio automatically switch to that input when you are making- or receiving a call. I am using a Blaupunkt bluetooth kit myself, but I would probably get a kit from Parrot if I were to buy one today. Preinstalled car radios are usually both difficult and expensive to upgrade with a bluetooth system, but if you are able to program the head-unit and get a second hand bluetooth kit at eBay it "might" be an affordable solution. A troublesome bluetooth system, like most cheap kits probably ends up with, is probably less convenient than just using an earpiece when driving.
If you're just looking to stream music via bluetooth, then a bluetooth audio dongle will work. I bought this and it works great for over a year. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Universal-3...luetooth_Adapters_Dongles&hash=item589b9646aa 3-4 hours per charge. You can also use it while it's charging.
I've been using the Belkin for almost a year now with the S3 and now the S4 and pretty happy with it.

I have an Aux and Power port in my center console. I leave it plugged in all the time. My S4's Call Audio connects to the cars Bluetooth automatically for phone calls. Media Audio connects to the Tunelink automatically to stream audio. Not perfect but it works. It think they go for 75 on amazon.

when you say you have an Aux, do you mean a 3.5mm cable? My G25X only has usb

My Maxima has an RCA Aux (yellow/white/red) port in the center console right next to the USB/Ipod input. I use a RCA to 3.5mm cable to plug the Tunlink into the car. Sorry I assumed since the Maxima and G25 were so similar they would have the same ports.
So, after reading some of these responses and thinking about it more, here's what I'd really like:
- Something that charges via USB.
- Something that will automatically power on when I start the car (i.e. when it starts charging) and automatically connect with my phone, but will not continue drawing power once the car is shut off.
- Not too crazy expensive.
The 1st and 3rd there are easy enough to determine. Any of the recommended products satisfy the 2nd item there?

[Q] Tronsmart Glacier TS7 Headset Issues. Is it the Cubot One?

I just received my Tronsmart TS7 Glacier from Geekbuying. The phone is a nice HTC One lookalike with some awesome features including a long life 2200 mah battery, MTK6589 Quad Core processor, 1 GB RAM and a crystal clear screen. It is extremely well built and feels both heavy and solidi the hand. The included cover is rubbish, though it is free in the package so I'm not going to complain. Bluetooth supports A2DP, which works well with my Bluetooth stereo. The bottom menu, home and back keys are capacitive and illuminated - though they are so dim, that they could have avoided backlighting them altogether. The device was easy enough to root, so all in all great value. Make sure you ask for a discount for the phone, after initiating live chat on Geekbuying. I am not affiliated to them.
Oddly enough, the package had the IMEI stickers in the box, which said Cubot One. They look visually identical and I wanted to check if they are infact the same pieces, for firmware support. Can anyone confirm this please?
The supplied headset is rubbish, so I used a BlackBerry and an iPhone "headset" (Headphones with a built in mic and that has 4 contacts on the end of the 3.5mm jack) and used it with the phone. Unfortunately the headset is detected as a headphone only (i.e. With no mic; You see this on an icon near the Wifi signal) - spitting out terrible muffled sounds, unless I press and hold the (Call / End) button on the cord. The second I let go of the button, the sound returns to a terrible state.
If I plug in regular headphones, without a mic, I'm fine, but I have this problem with headsets (Again - headphones with a built in mic with call / end button) used with the TS7.Do any of you have a similar issue? I'm worried I got a half lemon. It's really bothering me. Can this be fixed by software?
Would love to hear back from you. on whether this is a common problem, or one only with my set.
P.S. The rubbish supplied headset is detected / works fine - But they sound TERRIBLE! The supplied headset also works well with my Blackberry 9790 - but my Blackberry headset does not work well with the TS7. Any thoughts? Do I need a special headset?
Thanks in advance,

Hi, I have the Cubot One, and have exact the same problem. The rubbish boxed white earphone works, but any of my Sennheisers wont. I think it has something to do with the TRRS standards but I have no fix yet. Have you solved it already??
I have the same problem!

I have the same problem man, and I was wondering If I'm the only one!!!
I tried with sony ericsson headphones...
And I have an additional problem.. when I connect my phone to my pc speakers or my amplifier and the big speakers, It pauses the music, disconnects and connects again to the cable... Every time I press play it does the same!
And another thing that I couldn't figure out with this phone is that when I go to install a big game it tries to install the sd data to phone's storage,
and says that I don't have enought free space... Even though from starage setting I have set both those settings to SD card!!!

I fount this topic because and I have that problem and do just what you say. I got my phone few days ago.
I try one my in-ear headphones and have terrible sound, then I try speakers from the computer, and when I press play, it let sound for 1 sec and stop immediately. My first conclusion was that perhaps it has a weak sound output on jack, or headphones and speakers have too much ohms resistance.
II hope you will find some solution.
For the memory, try replacing the internal memory to the memory card using this procedure (put link in google translator to translate in english): http://www.htcmania.com/showthread.php?t=616319
Hi there. I do not have the pausing problem, but I can now listen to any headphones / headsets with an adapter I bought from eBay.
Seach for "iphone to nokia adapter" on Ebay. It should cost between $2.50 to $3.00.
Hope it helps - I am enjoying all my headsets with the TS7 now (Blackberry, iphone, beats etc).
Do any of you know if there are any firmware updates for this phone?
Thanks...

I can confirm it works. I just got a cable that I ordered 14.4. for headphones. Now the sound is normal (no more like to play in a barrel), and recognizes the headset with a microphone (in the taskbar near the clock displays the headset with a microphone, before was just headphone icon). But I still can not play music through the speakers of the computer. Immediately after press play, the song stops and disconnect the speakers. Probably they have too much resistance or something that can not "push" sound.
Oh, and here's a link cable: http://www.ebay.com/itm/22132695223...arms=gh1g=I221326952237.N19.S2.M-34513.R2.TR2
