On my previous phones diamond and hero i've used the HTC RC E100 remote. It was quite handy, allowed me to control the music player without getting the phone out of my pocket, and the best thing was i could just use my own headphones!
Unfortunatly it has a mini-usb connector. Now that the desire uses a micro USB connector i am looking for something similiar.
Control for music, volume, phone (incl. mic) and where i can plug in my own headphones.
I just love those in ear headphones and don't want to use the ones that came with the desire.
Does anybody know about a remote that would fit my desire and my needs?

The Desire uses a standard micro USB (5-pin micro-USB 2.0) connection, I am just thinking whether or not the Desire even supports audio through the USB...
As far as I know, the Nexus One uses a standard Micro-USB connector, which has no audio support. The only way to listen through an amp is Bluetooth or the headphone jack.

thank you for the provided information. as the nexus one and the desire are very similar, i guess the desire will miss the audio support via usb as well. in all other phones where audio via usb was supported, HTC has used a non standard usb port.
i will keep on searching for a remote that plugs in via the headphone jack. if someone has an idea

I think I have a solution.
Jabra BT3030 bluetooth headset. A2DP and AVRCP so you get your stereo sound and also utilise audio controls. Plus it has a 3.5mm jack so you can plug in whatever headphones you want.
Google it. I've got one on the way.
I've been looking for head phones too, and these look like the best offer so far. I am a bit worried about the blue tooth running down the battery though. But let me know how you find these. If all the buttons work with the desire I'll probably get myself a set.
I've been using my Jabra BT3030 and the controls do work. There is a small time lag between pressing a button on the Jabra and it responding.
One good thing I found about the phone (with or without headphones) is that the volume control on the phone works even when the phone has gone to sleep. On my HD2 that didn't happen and it really annoyed me.

So how is the Jabra overall? Worth buying? I've been reading the amazon reviews and some issues have been raised, like the buttons not working with music after you get a call. Do the volume buttons work, and how is the sound quality? Lastly, how bad is it on the battery?

i think i will give it a try, the only thing that worries me is the fact that i would have another thing to charge. I was also thinking about soldering a headphone jack into the standard htc remote that came with the phone. i will keep you up to date.

yea i like the look of it, the ability to skip tracks without whipping ur phone out seems great. that always annoyed me with the iphone.. but as i listen to music for hours on end at work (Without a charger handy), i wanna know how much the BT will effect battery life?

I have a Jabra BT 3030 which I used extensively with my G1 because I hated carrying around a MiniUSB to audio jack lead.
However I haven't even tried it with my Desire, like someone said its just another thing you need to remember to charge, and as the Desire has a headphone socket (and a micro usb) it would mean carry two leads, or an adaptor to keep them both charged.
That said the Jabra has a fairly decent battery life as long as you remember to turn it off when your not using it.
The sound quality is perfectly acceptable for listening to music unless your a real audiophile, though its obviously not as good as a direct connection to the phone.

I use a pair of Sony DR-BY20NX Bluetooth headphones with my desire. headphone battery life is 11hrs.it also has audio controls and can answer call.
fairly cheap but discontinued and becoming hard to find. well worth it though.

I was in CPW last week and the guy who was serving me also had a desire, he was using the Nokia Bh-214 (iirc), its a bluetooth remote with a 3.5mm plug. I tried it out and it sounded good, it has full controls including volume. Its around £40 and available
Also, I have been searching about and found the Sony MW-600 its a bluetooth remote with a 3.5 mm jack, it also comes with headphones and has a built in FM radio. Also has full controls, its around £40 and not out till May.
Personally I am going to wait till the Sony one is out, it has positive reviews and i trust Sony more when it comes to music and the like. Just annoying having to wait!
I am using a cheap BT A2DP, and it works very well. It can be used as BT handsfree or stereo earphone, also has a remote to skip and back the track, that works fine in TuneWiki (but it not for HTC player). The quality of the sound is still far below my KOSS earphone though... but for 26USD and free delivery that thing is really a good deal.

google dot com slash phone now has the car dock listed ($55) but says “Sorry, this item is temporarily not available.”
The PDF that they link to talks about a built in speaker but doesn’t mention a audio out port for connecting to your car stereo. Could they have really left this out?
Edit: The listing disappeared after only a couple of minutes and unfortunately I refreshed before I grabbed a screenshot. I did save the help page and the PDF, although both are still accessible on Google’s servers.

After checking out the PDF... looks like you're right... no audio jack... but no real need from one. You should be able to plug an audio jack into the phone still... would've been nicer to just leave it in the dock though and have audio transferred through the gold connectors... Why Google?
Edit: In the PDF it talks about how the dock automatically enables BlueTooth. Guessing that's how you're supposed to connect it to your cars audio.

You can't push data through the gold connectors.
The pdf actually mentions playing music through the phone -> bluetooth.
There probably is a connection on there, did the desk dock specify the audio connection?

I don't think it was supposed to be up originally as it showed not available. I'd guess it would show up pretty soon though as a result.
I think it looks great, but it is really dissapointing that you cannot use a bluetooth headset while it is docked. I do not think that the speakerphone will be clear enough with the amount of time I am on the phone. I guess now I know that it looks like and how it functions, I will be looking in to another option.
The dock just came back up on the purchasing website and now seems to be officially for sale.

As long as you tell the phone to to pair with the dock you should be fine to pair with anything else.
the product description says that the speakers "enhance the in-car music and media experience." How exactly do pathetic speakers enhance audio? what's the point if it has to go through speakers instead of the very common audio jack equipped head unit.
you CAN still plug in an audio jack to the phone when it is docked. but then again i can still plug an audio jack into the phone when it's on the desk dock. I thought the whole bloody point of the bluetooth dock was so that you don't have to plug in the audio jack, what's the point of a bluetooth dock that still requires you to plug the phone in?!!??!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!
I cancelled my order until this issue is confirmed and or resolved. until then, i will continue sitting my phone in a cup holder and connecting an audio cable and charging cable.

Does anyone know where to source such a beast?
In case it's not clear, what I want is a cable with a 3.5mm jack on one end - which you plug into the phone - and a 3.5mm socket on the other end - into which you plug your own headphones. In the middle, a mic, call answer button, and music control buttons.
I would've thought such a thing would be trivial to find, but it's not. For me, anyway. No matter what I put into eBay I can't find one that says it'll work for Android / our phone - I can find ones for the iPhone, but I don't know if they'd work on the Doubleshot / Android.
Anyone? thanks! I do *not* want a full headset with its own earphones - I have much better ones of my own I want to use.
You could try searching up an aux cable + mic for cars (eg. that Griffin one)
and combine it with a 3.5mm stereo female to female adapter
I guess that would work...it'd be nice to have something a bit less cumbersome, though. Thanks for the idea though!
The video cable I use for tv-out is an iPod video cable - if that helps.

I would take a lok at the Motorola S805, its a big earmuff dj style bluetooth that has playback controls on it.
Via bluetooth I can confirm it can play, pause, volume, next track and previous track controls. It also has a 3.5mm stereo jack in case you dont want to deal with bluetooh, but I dont actually have a 3.5mm cable to test it out on.

Elister: yeah, bt is one obvious option - I actually have a bt adapter, and bt music controls are standardized (it's one of the official bt profiles) so you can more or less rely on them working. But the drawbacks are that bt audio reduces quality somewhat, bt link is never as reliable as a cable, and you have extra battery drain on the phone and the bt adapter's battery to charge...just more fiddling around :/

I'm very excited for this! I've been looking for a good adapter for AGES! I was about to buy a bluetooth adapter to a headphone jack to stream my phone audio to the car stereo via bluetooth to headphone jack. But this looks perfect and reliable. Hopefully it'll work out

Just wanted to add that this dongle has an imbedded battery (6-8 hour estimated), with a micro USB charging port.
I hope to be able to hide this away in my car, and run continuous power to it so I don't have to take it back out again. Hopefully some reviews with good info come out

Hey all, well the HTC Car StereoClip came in today. I am very pleased, it works just like advertised. It lets me connect via Bluetooth to the clip and play Music thru to my car stereo. When a call comes in it defaults to regular phone earpeice mode and does not try to play the phone call thru bluetooth.
First quick impressions, audio quality is fine. What I am really wondering is would audio quality really jump up in quality if we had the aptX audio enhancement CODEC in the Sensation?

Have you used an auxillary cable to play audio through your car stereo before using the clip? If so, how would you say the audio quality compares?
I currently use an aux cable to play music through my stock stereo on my TSX but the quality is pretty mediocre...

OK, so I guess that means that the phone (One X in my case) can't connect to both this device AND my bluetooth built-in car kit - one for streaming music and one for phone calls?
My car (BMW) has a factory Bluetooth kit installed but, unfortunately, it doesn't support music streaming. I have been using a cable to connect my phone's head phone socket to the AUX-in port of the car and this has been working fine. Music streams via the cable and get's muted when a call comes in via the Bluetooth kit and then un-muted when the call finishes.
I was hoping to pair my phone to both Bluetooth devices and have them working simultaneously, one for music output and the other for phone calls.
Too much to ask for?

I guess thats why they also sell the car mic (v100) as a separate piece to the car accessories stuff.
I have both on order, but both are in backorder. Expansys.usa for the car mic and sprint.com for the stereo clip. I'll let you all know how it all works together.

Can you confirm that indeed call does not come through even when there is only a single device pared (mobile and A100)? That would really be shame as this might have been the perfect solution for hands free calling, having mic from the phone for outgoing audio and car speakers for incoming audio.
The easiest way to tell is just to look at the bluetooth pairing settings for the stereoclip, is it just pairable as a media device, or media as well as phone?

Ok I wanted to give an update. I am extremely please with StereoClip.
My car is a 2005 Cadillac STS with Nav and factory Blue-tooth for phone but does NOT support Blue-tooth Audio. So I have had to use the AUX in for Pandora until now. The stereo is the factory 15 speaker BOSE system plus a Kicker 10" sub in a custom fiberglass enclosure with its own 1,000 watt amp.
Tonight I just compared the sound quality of Blue-tooth vrs being wired/plugged in. I was nicely surprised that I could not tell a bit of difference in quality. This was done parked in my garage with the car on. I listened to Jazz, Rap, Latin, and Techno. I listened for bass quality, highs, openness, and to my surprise I could not truly tell how I was connected. I was positive that being connect via blue-tooth I was NOT going to get the same sound quality, that I would give up some quality for convenience. Well at least in my 15 min quick test of starting a song listening to it for a min or so then switching how its connected to the car stereo and continuing the song I could not hear any difference. Very happily surprised.
Then I drove for dinner and decided to see if my phone would also pair to my car at a blue-tooth cell phone at the same time will listening to music and it did. My Sensation was paired to the HTC StereoClip and to the Cadillac at the same time. I made a phone call, Pandora paused, The call connected I spoke for a min or two then hung up and then Pandora resumed. All worked perfectly.
So the StereoClip works perfectly. I'm thrilled.

P.S. the only little annoying thing is, for me to pair to it I have to actually press the pairing butting on the StereoClip and then tell my Sensation to connect to it. So its two additional steps I need to do EVERY TIME I get in my car. Kinda a hassle but I feel its better than seeing a wire and being hard wired to the car....

I'm glad you like it! I'm curious of what ROM you are using right now. And would you mind testing it on AOSP based ROM??

I just rooted my phone (any phone) for the first time several weeks ago. I am extremely please with how my phone works. Someone asked if I could try a different ROM, honestly I'm a believer if it works don't fix it, so I really don't wish to mess with a new ROM for now. So sorry.

Got my Stereo Clip in today
And I must say is very nice! I use to use the aux cable to connect the phone to the head unit but with this lil puppy its just bad a$$!
My setup:
I have a BlueAnt S4 (on sale btw on dailysteals.com for 20 bux in the USA I think, sorry!) and that plays media through its speaker. So all my navi voice prompts can be heard through the S4. And the profile the S4 supports is phone audio of course and media audio.
Now I introduce the HTC Car A100. Pairing was easy peasy. Then jumped in the truck to see how this works. I pulled up poweramp and started a track. Then turned on the bluetooth on the phone. Now both the S4 and A100 is connected to the phone. However when connected the music started playing though the S4.
I then went into the bluetooth profile of the BlueAnt S4 and unchecked the media profile. This will then in turn only be used for phone calls only, which works because the A100 cannot play the calls through the speakers. I restarted the track and viola, the music started to stream smooth as silk through my speakers. And it's nothing like the FM transmitters for ipods, this is clear as my aux cable!
I have to say I have not received a call yet with both running. I'll report back on how this functions in my setup. I hope it works lol...
Tonight I made my first accessory purchase at the local Verizon store... as their prices have always been pretty bad, but I have a military discount of 15%, so I bit the bullet and purchased an iBolt cradle system. If you haven't seen it, there is a review in the accessory section, it's pretty spot on, but this important update is for those of us who don't have A2DP streaming in the car, and are forced to use the AUX IN jack.
Long story short, when using this dock, you have the option of sending the sound thru your micro USB port or out the phones speaker in back. This dock comes with a nine foot long cable that has micro USB at one end, and regular USB and a 3.5mm audio jack at the other. This beautiful setup allows you to not touch the evil headphone jack (trump card) on the phone, but rather it lets you the phone play music out the USB connection while retaining Bluetooth phone connectivity thru your cars Bluetooth connection! (while charging)
Silly that I had to buy a $32 device to get functionality that the AT&T version of our phone has natively... but at least it's fixed!
Not trying to be a jerk or anything, but what is the advantage of playing music through the USB instead of bluetooth? I actually like the BT option - plays music but pauses when a call come in and lowers the volume for GPS directions. Works great all at the same time...

There's a large portion of G3 owners who do not have bluetooth streaming (A2DP). Just because you have bluetooth phone connectivity does not mean you have bluetooth streaming. We are forced to use the aux in jack in the car to listen to music. I think a large portion of S3 owners simply tried to use the headphones jack on the phone... But if you do that, you cannot use bluetooth. Every sound is routed thru the headphones jack. You cannot toggle this.
So, using the iBolt cradle, witch ports the sound out via usb instead of the headphones jack, I am able to retain my cars bluetooth functionality.
Side note, not sure if you know this, but the sound quality of bluetooth streamed music is pretty bad compared to a cabled connection.

That combined with a USB car charger to keep it charged at all times would maybe be a nice way to solve your issue for ~$30
Note: I don't own the product, but the reviews are good and it seems it would just be nice to have.

A day after I purchased the iBolt I received this little gadget in the mail from ebay.
USB Bluetooth Adapter
For under $10 it gives you the same A2DP bluetooth audio streaming. But, the difference is it doesn't sound nearly as good for the lower end of the spectrum. But, in a pinch it's awesome, and for the price, you can't beat it. I have it as a backup for now.
I took about 30 min and hid the iBolt cabling today. I like the fact that I moved the cradle to the top left of the windshield, away from the center console. Will post some pics later today of the install.
I am surprised at how easy the phone is to use with my left hand, from the steering wheel. Retaining the bluetooth functionality, specificallly my integrated microphone, really makes this work around worth every penny. Hope it helps someone else!

No worries, none taken. I am just ecstatic to be playing music via S3 thru my car stereo and still be able to use the cars bluetooth for phone calls! Now if we could come up with a fix for this damn NO SIM error, I would be in heaven. LOL!

Sweet, I was contemplating a bluetooth to 3.5mm for my car because of this issue, but this might be a better solution. Looks like we might have the same exact setup soon including the mini cooper :good:
I-bolt rocks. Bought one the other day. Search for best price. Down in the low to mid $30 range now depending on shipping and coupons.
Could anybody solve my problem? My car doesn't have a usb port so I cant use the iBolt to play music through it. I use the cassette player to audio jack and use bluetooth talk through my car speakers. Is there a solution to use bluetooth while using the audio jack?

Yes. I don't know why I didn't think of this sooner, but on anther board, someone brought this up and it works, albeit ghetto'ish.
Mount the phone somewhere in the car where you can speak towards the mic. Plug the cassette tape adapter into the headphones jack. When a call comes in, just answer the phone keeping the headphone jack in use, and the sound will come thru your stereo, but the mic you will be using is the one on the phone. Talked to multiple people who all heard me just fine. (even with the mic pointed downwards!)

The cable is exactly the right length to mount the ibolt anywhere in the car, hell I think we could mount it on the rear window, lol! There is space behind the base of the center console where you can tuck away any extra cable you have before you route the cable to the jacks. I decided to use an add on 2.1a USB car charger (cig lighter adapter) vs the cars internal USB as I don't think the MINI USB pumps out anything more than 450 mA (1\4 what the adapter puts out I bought seperately)

Does that require a custom Recovery and/or ROM, perhaps? I'd like to keep things relatively stock for now, though am OK with tweaks. Plus, the iBolt looks convenient to use in my car.

So how do you know if you have bluetooth streaming? aren't all the G3's the same in that respect? Or is it up to what your car can do?

I know I can do that but I want to use the bluetooth in my car to make calls(my car doesn't have bluetooth audio only calls). When I use the headphone jack to make calls people say their voice echoes back but if I use the cars bluetooth its fine.
I just received my Tronsmart TS7 Glacier from Geekbuying. The phone is a nice HTC One lookalike with some awesome features including a long life 2200 mah battery, MTK6589 Quad Core processor, 1 GB RAM and a crystal clear screen. It is extremely well built and feels both heavy and solidi the hand. The included cover is rubbish, though it is free in the package so I'm not going to complain. Bluetooth supports A2DP, which works well with my Bluetooth stereo. The bottom menu, home and back keys are capacitive and illuminated - though they are so dim, that they could have avoided backlighting them altogether.The device was easy enough to root, so all in all great value. Make sure you ask for a discount for the phone, after initiating live chat on Geekbuying. I am not affiliated to them.
Oddly enough, the package had the IMEI stickers in the box, which said Cubot One. They look visually identical and I wanted to check if they are infact the same pieces, for firmware support. Can anyone confirm this please?
The supplied headset is rubbish, so I used a BlackBerry and an iPhone "headset" (Headphones with a built in mic and that has 4 contacts on the end of the 3.5mm jack) and used it with the phone. Unfortunately the headset is detected as a headphone only (i.e. With no mic; You see this on an icon near the Wifi signal) - spitting out terrible muffled sounds, unless I press and hold the (Call / End) button on the cord. The second I let go of the button, the sound returns to a terrible state.
If I plug in regular headphones, without a mic, I'm fine, but I have this problem with headsets (Again - headphones with a built in mic with call / end button) used with the TS7.Do any of you have a similar issue? I'm worried I got a half lemon. It's really bothering me. Can this be fixed by software?
Would love to hear back from you. on whether this is a common problem, or one only with my set.
P.S. The rubbish supplied headset is detected / works fine - But they sound TERRIBLE! The supplied headset also works well with my Blackberry 9790 - but my Blackberry headset does not work well with the TS7. Any thoughts? Do I need a special headset?

there are several kinds of headset with MIC. IPHONE'S can not work with chinese phone. NOKIA'S works

Hi, I have the Cubot One, and have exact the same problem. The rubbish boxed white earphone works, but any of my Sennheisers wont. I think it has something to do with the TRRS standards but I have no fix yet. Have you solved it already??

I have the same problem man, and I was wondering If I'm the only one!!!
I tried with sony ericsson headphones...
And I have an additional problem.. when I connect my phone to my pc speakers or my amplifier and the big speakers, It pauses the music, disconnects and connects again to the cable... Every time I press play it does the same!
And another thing that I couldn't figure out with this phone is that when I go to install a big game it tries to install the sd data to phone's storage,
and says that I don't have enought free space... Even though from starage setting I have set both those settings to SD card!!!

I fount this topic because and I have that problem and do just what you say. I got my phone few days ago.
I try one my in-ear headphones and have terrible sound, then I try speakers from the computer, and when I press play, it let sound for 1 sec and stop immediately. My first conclusion was that perhaps it has a weak sound output on jack, or headphones and speakers have too much ohms resistance.
II hope you will find some solution.

Seach for "iphone to nokia adapter" on Ebay. It should cost between $2.50 to $3.00.

Do any of you know if there are any firmware updates for this phone?

I can confirm it works. I just got a cable that I ordered 14.4. for headphones. Now the sound is normal (no more like to play in a barrel), and recognizes the headset with a microphone (in the taskbar near the clock displays the headset with a microphone, before was just headphone icon). But I still can not play music through the speakers of the computer. Immediately after press play, the song stops and disconnect the speakers. Probably they have too much resistance or something that can not "push" sound.
